For me the same. I was a little bit disappointed in the battery in the first week, coming from such a beast as the 13PM is. But the battery of the s23ultra became so much better in such a short time that I absolutely love it. Very happy with my switch as well.
@@me1203 yeah. Lots of apple peeps will switch over and not realize that both android and oneui on samsung devices learn your usage and take a while to settle in to the full battery life. Lots of apple folks also don't realize that many problems they have with android are simple settings that you can change with the phone's default software. Enjoy your s23u!
I gave my S22U to my mother, and got the iPhone 13PM. I learned that I much prefer Android, but I couldn't justify another S22U because of the battery life - it was perfect apart from that, in my opinion. I am so pleased to see these reviews of the S23U, especially in regards to battery. I am glad to see Samsung is focusing less on grand innovations each year and more in improving and perfecting what is working so well. I'll be selling my iPhone 13PM while the resale value is still so high, and ordering my S23U later this week. So excited for the more squared off edges! I do understand why a lot of people like the iPhone, but it's definitely Samsung for me!
It's always been samsung for me, purely because I can't stand looking at an iphone screen after I've had the luxury of the flashy designs of samsung phones. My s22u somehow is brilliant for battery life. Sitting at 25 hours off the charger with 3 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time and 53% battery remaining. Not saying those with battery issues are lying, but I guess I got lucky with the silicon lottery, because my phone has not had issues whatsoever. I agree though that Samsung seems to have made their offering WAY more reliable with the s23u. I used to think that iPhone was the most easy phone to recommend, but nowadays it's the opposite, especially with the s23u. All the reviewers say the battery life and smoothness finally matches iphone, which means that the iphone is just worse than samsung in every way except for their ecosystem of devices working together better than sammy. The iphone screen with the ugly island and lower resolution is objectively worse. The charging speed on the iphone is objectively WAY worse. The freedom to do what you want and interface with a windows computer as well as anything else is way worse. The file management is miles behind samsung. The keyboard is terrible and you can't change anything about it on iphone (No number row, yuck). The only thing that can be said about iphone is the apps are sometimes better on ios (this is changing rapidly especially with samsung partnering with the major social media apps) It used to be a no brainer: Get the iphone. Now it's a no brainer in the opposite direction unless ios gets major changes, and apple stops using that ugly phone design that seems to be from 2007. Sorry if I start any fanboy wars crap with this. I'm not trying to. I'm simply giving my thought process as to what I think is better. This is all my opinion and I still think if you like iphone, you're not wrong to use one.
@@HOBOsnakeI always own each years newest phones. Mainly in the iPhone, Samsung and Xiaomi. The s23U pulls ahead of the Iphone 14PM by a mile. I mean I still like it. But it’s awesome now that when I’m going on a road trip I’m not forced to bring an iPhone for better battery. And agree with your points. The display is not arguable. Samsung obliterates Apple in that department.
@@HOBOsnakethanks for your review! I’ve been wanting to get the s23U but just love my Apple Watch too much and it’s been so nice to transfer things from my Mac to my phone. Honestly if it weren’t for how easy it is for all these apple device to communicate with each other, would have switched to Samsung long ago ❤
Moving from a yesteryear iphone and having been a user of that brand for the past 8 years, I can say that the shift to the 1TB version of the S23 Ultra is mindblowing. It's definitely an overkill for my daily use, but I do not regret one bit the choice I've made.
@Mįķə Håņčhø I've seen the 1tb version with spotty availability @ best buy. I think it retails around 1600 and I've never seen it on sale when it is around. Right now you can get the 512 model for just under 1100 dollars though, which is even less than I paid a couple weeks ago. Imo you are better off saving money by getting the 512 version on sale and a 1tb usbc external hard drive if you really need the extra space.
I'm in love with mine (in red) its hands down the best phone I've owned. The battery life and consistent 'smoothness' of the OS in particular is amazing.
The charging is actually pretty fast. The sad thing is, you have to buy a 5A type C cable and a 45W charger separately. You'll know it's Superfast Charging 2.0 when you plug it in and the charging animation is color blue instead of green.
True. But there is more to this. We, asked Samsung in Germany about this issue. Their reply to the email was made public in the German Members community. First there is GB vs GiB, and how their file manager handles this, they consider to change it. Second, like you described, by default there is the system and apps displayed bc of the lack of permission for the file manager. They also claim to reserve some GiB for future updates.
Exactly! It's because Samsung reports the coversion loss together with it's system files. I've seen such a big deal made over this but it's just people misunderstanding the way it's done.
Samsung's actual system usage is a bit of a trick. Because of the conceptual difference between binary and decimal, your smartphone's 256GB of storage, like your computer's, actually has 238GB of usable storage, and Samsung has labeled that 18GB difference as system capacity. Otherwise, people would have complained about why their smartphone only has 238GB when it has 256GB.
@@nazmulhuda3262. it's literally the industry standard. Every single manufacturer does this and they usually come with a label somewhere explaining exactly that. Different manufacturers just hide the storage elsewhere, as either apps or files etc. It's not just for phones, it's for all electronics in existence. They convert GiB to GB and the conversion loss results in "less storage" even though you've technically not lost anything. It's just as if everything was measured in cm, but the system uses inches, so the advertised "length" is the same, just in different units
To make it easier for non tech people to understand, storage space has always been rounded up. For example, 16GB is not really 16GB it's more like 14GB or 15GB. Makes people feel all warm and fuzzy.
You really had to dig deep to find negatives about this phone. I've had mine for a week and I just love it. It does everything so well. Photos are amazing as well as videos. Oh yeah, it's a good at telephoning also.
Very few phones costing £1400+ have negatives apart from the Fold4. Now that Qualcomm has ditched Samsung Fabs, we get what should have been available since the SD888. But all Android flagships now have the SD8G2, so all have performance and battery life to match. So there are very few differences amongst the best in 2023. Win-win for consumers. The S23U is great, but Xiaomi, OPPO, VIVO, Huawei and Honor all have just as good flagships. The difference is that the S23U costs £300 more for the s-pen and Samsung branding.
Long term apple fanboy here. I've left iOS for the S23 Ultra and I really don't regret it. There are a couple of things I miss, I think the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is not as good as the Apple watch (touch sensitivity and UI design is a little unpolished in places) and I actually prefer the notifications being readable on iOS 16 on the Always On Display. However, this is pretty minor stuff. The Snap Dragon S23U is so much better this year compared to the Exynos S22U, Apple for me has kind of stagnated of late and need to break out once again, I found the 14 Pro Max a disappointing phone (products that Covid built?) and iOS 16 had far more bugs that it should have.
There is an option to make notifications readable in the lock screen on Samsung. I left Samsung for iPhone for the first time, I bought the iPhone 14 ProMax and boy am I dissapponted. Apps keep crashing and have all kind of bugs, no file system, UI is unintuitive, iOS is not optimized for big screens and so much more. Yes the cameras are stellar and social media work better but that’s all. No “ it just works” experience for me. I can’t wait to go back to Samsung and android.
@Marshall C.T. Yes, I've got notifications on my lock screen but I liked the way an email or text message popped up on the Always On display so I could read the first line or two and then decide whether to leave until later or reply immediately. At the moment I just get an icon so I don't know who or what has contacted me.
I have an S22U so I'll get a 24 or a 25. I'm hoping they increase the 10x optical to a 48mp camera, so they can pixel bin and digitally crop 2x zoom as 12mp native. Beyond that IDK what else there is to improve. My 8gen1 S22U does everything I could want of it and more. I agree about the bloatware, it's not such a big deal because I only use my home screens, not the app drawer.
Just switched from my iPhone 12 Pro Max and I’m in love! I have an Apple ecosystem and will probably keep it around since it’s expensive to fully transition everything. I thought I was gonna regret switching but I’m learning new tricks everyday with the s23 ultra that I can’t do with my old phone. Perhaps the new experiences is captivating my attention as Apple has seem to be stagnant on their small upgrades for me. Definitely a game changer for me. I wish Apple would do a huge upgrade instead of perfecting changes and pushing out new products that isn’t worth my money. I do have to say apps on the Apple are so much better.
Mine is in preorder...upgrading from Note 10+ still going strong in 2023 grace to the 12GB RAM.....GREAT REVIEW Adam ! THANKS - The thing is if the system eat already several GB from your storage at last SAMSUNG should include in all modella the Micro SD expansion. BAD MOVE REMOVING IT ! Why every company do mistakes like that they invent a thing almost 10/10 PERFECTION but one bad feature added or removed ruins everything.....:(
I upgraded from Note10+ :) Be prepared for very, very soft vibration. I'll have to order a smart watch (and I'm not really a fan of smart watches), even after 3 weeks of using S23 Ultra I still have a LOT of missed calls.
@@udruzenjejazavaca You can change the intensity of the vibration. Out of the box the vibration is quite soft but if you adjust it in the settings, it's not bad at all.
@@troyeustace1021 of course I changed it to max - it's softer then my previous Note10+ set to 1/5. As the same problem existed on last years S22 Ultra, I guess it's Samsungs way to tell us to buy smart watch - no missed notifications
Doing the UA-cam zoom on my Note 9 and it works flawlessly. I do prefer and use some Samsung's own apps more than Google's like the calendar, gallery (with photo editor), calculator (way superior to Google's). A shame the music app doesn't work like it used to because Samsung dropped support for mwa format on newest phones but with phones until the S20 series no issues and my favourite music app in this case. Samsung notes is also better.
I wish Samsung didn't retire MST payments. I was at Walmart the other day and the lady at the register told me they don't support NFC payments, I replied with "really?" I miss being able to pay anywhere so when they tell me it won't work I'll just proceed to tap and pay like I did when I had my Note 20 Ultra.
Just upgraded from an S9 who’s battery was flagging after 4 years. I thought about replacing the battery (only about $20-30), but labor would bring it up to close to $100, whilst used market value is well less than $100, perhaps $40-60 . Having used the s23 ultra for about 24 hours, I’m absolutely gobsmacked! .. especially by the camera!
hello, i've got the s9+, i'm really considering this phone too, the s9 is still a great phone, only an almost dead battery and broken fingerprint scanner
For the first time I'm gonna try a Samsung phone. I've been a Sony Xperia fan, but with disappointments, I'm contemplating jumping into Samsung S23 ultra. Excited for real. Good review @asbyt
Bro same! I love my Xperia 1 IV but it isn't the best at normal phone things sometimes and has random issues / bugs on occasion. It just isn't as flushed out as Samsung phones are. (Owned and loved the Galaxy 10+) I honestly miss the huge screen. It's wild how much larger videos look on the S23 Ultra next to my Xperia 1 IV when watching side by side at Best Buy on their display model.
My first touchphone ever and single biggest purchase of my life so a LOT of research and suffering. After I paid I saw one reviewer (TechOdyssey) saying he thinks the new Xperia1 V might have the edge, in the camera department I think it was. Me, this is my first smartphone and I seriously overdid it when I only really need it for making UA-cams so I'm not going to worry about no 'edge,' but still wish I had done one more day of research. I saw your comment and thought I should let you know so you can!
Great content. For me, I'm still holding on to my note20 ultra. It just got the 1UI 5.1, so I'm gonna keep it until it's paid off in September. Them maybe I'll trade it in
i upgraded from my Exynos S22 Ultra to the S23 Ultra - the differences are subtle but its (S23U) better in every way and a much smoother experience. I had continuous freezes and glitches on the S22U plus the battery life was terrible.
I think this "vanilla stock android" thing is so overrated. Coming from a pixel 6 pro to an S23ultra i can honestly say that android on the samsung runs wayyyyyy smoother than the pixel. I get the thing with bloatware too, but my experience of the phone is, it hasn't had any glitches or stutters or app crashes unlike the pixel (with 12 gb of ram remember) that constantly closed background apps, constantly glitched badly, had regular app crashes.....god i hated that phone. Anyways the S23ultra has been a breath of fresh air.
Im watching this video on my 23 ultra. This is the 4th smartphone ive ever purchased and i upgraded from a s10 plus. In a lot of ways the s10 plus is still a decent device, but software/security support has ended and the battery life was not very good at that time in its lifecycle. I think I bought the 10 plus in mid 2019 for 700ish dollars. I cringed at the 23 ultras price tag, but it is getting 4 years software and 5 years of security updates. As someone who doesnt upgrade as often as others, this phone imo has the wow factor and its performace is very impressive! (as it should be for the price) This might be the best display ive ever laid eyes on, for any device, and the performace and battery life are absolutely incredible. It does take bit of getting used to as even coming from the 10 plus, its quite a bit bigger/heavier. Honestly its so good, I have been using my PC less and less ever since I got it. The camera is outstanding as well, the zoom feature even at 30 times is super clear and crispy. I havent even messed around with the 200mp setting as the 50mp is great from what I can tell. Imo apple is really going to have to knock the iphone 15 series out of the park to keep up, and we as consumers benifit greatly from this competition within the market.
I'm using S10 now and watching this video thinking whether to upgrade or not. Like you said, the S10 is still good but the battery life is not. I also bought it in 2019. Thanks for sharing your opinion, now I'm really leaning to getting S23U
@@lemon_j I got the S23U roughly last month. I'm mainly drawn to the camera function and it's definitely much faster response and better quality. App runs much faster as well. The only drawback is that, S23U is much heavier than S10. My arm gets tired when I browse too long on my phone now 😅
I had one, and it was a great phone, but you're right in saying that the little details matter. For me, the deal breakers were that the fingerprint scanner wasn't all that consistent (and I registered both thumbs three times), despite generally great performance, there was a fair bit of lag when going into and exiting the camera app, and connection to Android Auto wasn't consistent either. I also had that S Pen disconnection issue you mentioned near the start of the video. So a great phone in my opinion, but not consistent enough in some key areas, for me.
I think either it might be a defect in your particular phone or maybe you applied a screen protector afterwards (regarding fingerprint scanner). cause for me Samsung's FS are the only ones truly consistent that even work with wet, sweaty or oily hands. So try removing all fingerprints and re-registering them, or maybe visit a service centre, cause ngl it isn't supposed to be inconsistent at all. regarding Camera Exiting, again I didn't face any issue but yes the S-Pen disconnect issue I have experienced and hopefully they fix it with an update or something, but if it persists, I am definitely gonna show it to the service centre. As I have only experienced it twice.
For me the fingerprint sensor has been fantastic and no animation lag when exiting/entering camera app. I don't use Android Auto tho and I do often have the issue with the S Pen disconnecting.
@@MarcSpctrsome people have fingerprints that just don’t work well with sensors. I’ve noticed this in the past when I worked with a lot of construction workers. Practically no fingerprints left.
@@Thatbeardedguy86 oh, yes I have seen people loose fingerprints (my mom's a doctor and apparently there are some diseases that can lead to that) so yes that it also possible if fingerprints are partially missing or something, an Inaccurate Sensor like in other phones (that works by taking a photo of your finger) might work better than the more accurate ones (capacitive sensors like old school back panel or side mounted ones or the Ultrasonic Under Display ones like Samsung uses).
I have that phone and love it. Btw....I've been with your channel since way back when before you did product reviews so much. When you were focused on K apps etc....still love your channel
I have both the S23 Ultra and the IPhone 14 Pro Max. The S23 Ultra is a beast of a phone. The only deterring factor for me is the use of the Apple Watch Ultra. The Apple Watch is still leagues better than what Samsung offers. How amazing would it be to be able to use the Apple Watch with Samsung.
Yes, the camera should be a lot better (not many honest reviews about it, shutter lag is probably the weakest point of whole phone), vibration could be better (I have a lot of missed calls and notifications, upgraded from Note10+), there should be less bloatware (it's absurd that some double apps can't be deleted), but it's pretty much the best phone out there. Even if it's not the best ("best" is pretty subjective thing, I know a lot of people that could afford 10 flagships a year, but for them 200-300 bucks phones are the best). Yes, if you buy phone just because of camera - Iphone is still dominant. Don't even think about S23 Ultra. But, everything else - I think Samsung got pretty close or is probably better. In last 6-7 years I've been using Samsungs flagships, and as I'm in Exynos region I really tried to get back to Iphone (mostly because of battery life and camera results, my last Iphone was Iphone 8) and - I just couldn't do it. I guess I got used to squared display so watching media on Iphone just didn't seem as good. Operating system is perfect, but (especially with hardware Iphones have) it's shame that latest Iphone has pretty much the same features Iphone X, or even 8 has. No real multitasking, not even split screen - "it just works" just shouldn't be enough in 2023. Also, connecting Iphone with anything that's not Apple product can be real nightmare. Hardcore Apple fans should be more demanding (Samsung fans also) or we'll get pretty much the same devices year after year. So - enjoy your device (whatever it may be) and don't overthink about what to buy, what's a little better or worse - it's just a phone after all, a device that should make our life easier not give us headache or overthinking :)
@@jjoohhhnnI’d say it’s down to personal preference. They’re both very very close. Sometimes Samsung wins and sometimes iPhone wins. And then Pixel beats them both. In my opinion lol
@@jjoohhhnn they are, but sometimes. What Samsung (still) lacks is consistency and predictability. With Iphone you pretty much know what the end result will be. With Samsung, you can take five shots of same subject within a seconds and end up with three different results. And shutter lag is really big problem, for us who don't take a lot of pictures of buildings and sky
@@Thatbeardedguy86 I feel like the telephoto and raw modes are under-rated, and then if everything else is a back and fourth then the telephoto and more/better sensors breaks the tie.
I have an s9 that I finally have to replace (bc I dropped it one too many times) and im waiting on my s23 to arrive to the store. Seeing so many complaints about sd card slots, audio jacks, glitches, and other things, had me worried. Thank you for your review, it eased some of my anxiety about it. 😊
90% and maybe more of people will focus on battery life, ease of usage (the software does the job, S pen functionality, multi tasking, secure and safe experience, the rest is not a hugely significant issue, the camera is great we are not using many features in it yet it outperforms many phones. The competition is fierce, many flagships are very close. I hope they can make the UI experience clean and simple no need for the bloat ware
glad you pointed out the s-pen not always registering on the keyboard, i have to tap to bring up keyboard which is annoying plus with the strange disconnect when ive only just ejected the s-pen from the phone. hopefully they fix on future update
Awesome review man how's the in hand feel does it feel bulky I mean weight distribution currently using s21fe exynos variant which is crap shall I upgrade to s23 ultra please reply Greetings from India 🇮🇳
I watched this video seeing the title because I was looking for reasons to not get it, and it turns out that these deal-breakers really aren't for me - I'm already used to OneUI and its weird duplication, and I'm not a content creator. Just need to see how the squared edges feel in hand and then I'm very tempted indeed to get one. 512GB lavender is what I'm eyeing, if only for the 12GB RAM. As someone who had the OG Note but none since, I'm excited to see if I make more use of the S Pen now, as I can definitely think of uses for it :)
I was going to buy the 12gb ram version until I saw that the 8gb version has the ability to utilise other memory for ram anyway. Up to 8gb! Thats up to 16gb of ram which is a rediculous amount and unlikely to be needed at all. So I saved several hundred bucks I didn't need to spend.
Thank you for not begging for subs and likes at the beginning of the video like all the other losers. You're the proof it's not so hard: provide some content, prove to people you're worth subbing to, then beg for likes/subs. Sir, you earned yourself a like.

Fantastic phone but the much lower trade ins in U.K. combined with the starting price of the Pixel 7 Pro with a free Pixel watch LTE on launch make it tough to justify for many people. The 7 and 7 Pro has rocked apple and Samsung in markets where they are available. Especially as google kept their prices the same in the U.K. vs the other two.
The OnePlus 11 is a better phone than pixel 7 pro even the cameras beat it in at least half situations but the rest of the specs on op 11 blow it out the water way faster charging way better chip better display
@@rickaustin3077 oneplus are great phones but not having wireless charging and IP ratings is a no go for me. The last one I was tempted by was the 9 Pro. I don’t ever game on my phone as have a steam deck but it is funny that Google did a better job than Samsung with their own chips.
I have a Pixel 7 Pro and have just purchased the S23 Ultra. The Pixel has gone into the drawer as a spare phone. The Samsung is just so good. Thanks Adam all enjoy you reveries and honesty. I’d appreciate a small piece of advice. I’m in Australia and recent swapped from S22 ultra to IPhone 14 pro max, watch ultra and AirPods Pro 2 pro. I’m kind of missing my Android stuff. I’m not a creator more of an enthusiast. Should I go back to S23 Ultra, buds pro2 and watch 5 pro and stick it out for longer with iOS. I like to tinker and not having you tube videos play when I’m reading emails etc no split screen or good lock extras is kind of annoying me…….help, just asking if I give Apple longer or get out ( the watch ultra I do like…a lot)
The battery. It is still blowing my mind. I haven't changed how I use this phone vs my old S22u but I am finishing the day with twice the remaining life. It's crazy.
The battery is definitely a winner for me. I have the battery protection enabled so I don't really charge my phone beyond 85 percent and rarely have I allowed it to drop below 30 percent n a day. Yet I am able to make it to the end of a work day with at least 50 percent battery remaining.
Yes, Samsung still has lots of bloatware but it doesn't account for 40gb. But the used space is actually Samsung way of the differentiation between 256/512/1TB GB vs GiB (a slightly different measure of digital storage) Google it, will make much more sense. Notice the 'used system storage' differs depending on the total storage of the phone

Not so long ago, I used to have a smartphone with a *_3.5_* inch screen size by the name of the _iPhone 4S._ I upgraded to a *_5.1_* inch screen smartphone which is the _Galaxy S5_ aka the GS5. It was a massive *MASSIVE* upgrade and I was so happy. 5 years later, I upgraded to a *_6.1_* inch screen smartphone: the _Galaxy S10_ (Snapdragon). This year, I upgraded to the _Galaxy S23 Ultra_ which boasts a *_6.8_* inch screen size! It's almost 7 inches! Samsung never fails in improving display and screen size.
I completely give the W to the S 23. There’s no doubt it’s snappier than the iPhone. The only thing that I worry about as a lifelong iPhone, and Samsung user, is the longevity. I’m always finding that I’m having to get a new android phone after two years maybe three where I can keep my iPhone for four or five years. So my only worry is well. This one is the snappiest phone I’ve ever had, will that stay true after two or three years?
From the last few gens Samsung flagships, like Note 9,10, S10, S20...etc, the so-called slow down isn't significant, til this day still a lot of people using those happily But the thing is, every generation they improve quite a bit. Although lots of people saying if you're using S22U, there's no need to upgrade to this S23U, but the fact is some updates are very tempting making there's a reason to upgrade even just a gen's different like the performance, battery life, temperature control, shape refined...etc. On the other hand, on iPhones side, you don't see much improvement every year except they just putting faster chips in it, which most people were only using half of it's performance most of the time, and apple even make things worse like from a big notch to the dynamic island, an even more stick out camera, still 20W charging, still so much limit in IOS...etc so it's not the old ones last, but it is no reason to upgrade to a new one
It's not 56gb of storage by the system. When you see the "App" line, there is a ℹ next to it and this is to grant authorization of space So, the 56 gb will split in two : one for the system and the other half for the app. Now, everything is in the system because you didn't grant authorization (sorry for my English, I'm French) Great video by the way!
"Samsung’s OneUI 5.1 operating system does not require 60GB of storage, as noted by Notebookcheck. This is primarily due to Samsung’s usage of 1000/1024 base conversion in system storage. This helps to clarify for users why the 512GB model actually only has 472GB, indicating a 7% “loss” in storage"
I like this review amongst all videos so far. I will be getting my samsung s23 ultra today and I have been an iPhone 12 pro max user for 2 years. Your review is realistic and more into a viewers POV. Thank you!
Great video! I’m struggling a lot with switching from my iPhone 13 Mini (which I love the size of) to an S23, probably not even Ultra just the standard one because I like the size more. But I own a MacBook and an iPad and I’m pretty deep in the Apple Ecosystem and I’m worried about how having an Android might affect my workflow for content creation. If you happen to read this comment, I’d love to know if you have any thoughts on that.
I have an S23 and an iPhone mini and I have a MacBook air. Almost all my videos are shot on the mini because of airdrop. So stick with iOS. I do an S23 because of WhatsApp and Samsung one UI familiarity.
I have an s10 plus and a macbook, I will be upgrading my phone soon but I just have an app on my computer and I plug it in to transfer files. It's an extra step but very easy to find the files you need especially with the file system on the phone
I love my S23 Ultra but I am going back to the iPhone. The camera just doesn't do it for me like it should and tired of sending pictures to people and having them tell me it shows up as an unplayable video.
Your lament over the Exynos Galaxy S22 Ultra last year was epic. I thankfully eventually decided to not even import the Snapdragon version. The S23 Ultra is a great phone. I’m not into social media so those aren’t a problem. You’re not lazy….I use my S Pen ALL the time. I’ll use this phone for about 4 years. Next year will be my iPhone Pro Max year. Thanks for the video
Has the shutter lag been fixed, that's why I ditched my s22 ultra for the pixel 7 pro and it's going to take something absolutely amazing to make me switch again
@@SocrCoach44it’s fixed…to a degree. It’s still not as good as the iPhone or Pixel and causes some image degradation. For me it’s not an issue since I focus on still photos. I guess a lot of people take pictures of moving objects
Looks great and I'm glad you mostly compared it to other Android devices--as opposed to the usual route (iPhone). Anyway, I went with the iPhone 14 Pro Max this year (former Note user) because of the M1 Pro and Apple Watch. The quality and seamlessness, not to mention Support and Updates are--not to exaggerate--currently incomparable.
You seem like a thoughtful person. Let me ask you this as both and iPhone and Android user. How is it seamless in a way that matters? For example yes there is the watch. But that connects just as easily on the Android. What on the Mac do you require the iPhone for?
@@Thatbeardedguy86 It's mostly a laptop issue. My decision to go with iPhone was based on my disenchantment with laptops in 2019-2020. I went through numerous laptop issues when I switch from my mid-2015 MacBook to Windows laptops (i.e. Dell's). When the M1 Pro/Max came out, I switched back because, well, M1 Pro/Max. It was and continues to be the best laptop I've ever owned. My Note20U was the best smartphone I ever owned but it didn't work seamlessly with my M1P: photos, airdrop, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Also, I've had bad experiences on the Android side when it came to Support/Warranty and the lack of universal upgrade implementation drove me batty. So, when my lease expired on the Note, I decided to switch to iPhone mostly for the ecosystem. I know that in many respects the S23 may be better than the iPhone PM, but it's more than that for me. That also made me upgrade my Galaxy Watch to the Apple Watch Series 8, which I love, surprisingly, since the Galaxy Watch is no slouch. Everything simply works so well together (locking/unlocking, email-browser handoff, FindMy, etc. etc.). It's a package deal for me. Completely headache free at the moment and loving it! PS - Having said all that, I am currently upgrading my XPS 15 9500 to the 9530 (13th gen, RTX 4070) LOL! Why? Why else? For some light gaming! MacBooks are still so far behind in this respect.
@@JimKanaris well thought out and said. And it makes sense for your use case. It’s nice to see people who aren’t just biased and crazy. The ecosystem of the iPhone is pointless for me from a computer standpoint because I’m a heavy gamer. Macs still can’t come close to a dedicated gaming PC. Thank you for the comment.
@@Thatbeardedguy86 I want to switch from apple but it's hard cause I absolutely love my apple watch ultra it's the best smartwatch period the galaxy watch 5 pro is nice but not as good as the ultra when it comes or accuracy and gps and it lags alot it needs to be more polished then I would def switch
I've only just set up my phone, but so far the battery seems on par with my old Huawei p30 lite. By this I mean just setting up the battery went from 100% down to 70% in just over an hour, loving the phone so far I just hope the battery life improves the more I use it. I also find the voice input is very hit and miss.
Who did it? I believe people don't understand how this works. In the case of UA-cam, people have to complain to Google to fix the problems. And from this, let's jump to duplicate software, this is the exact reason why Samsung keeps some of his software, otherwise they have to wait for whoever owns it to implement their features.
Thx for the Video..thumb up for this. I‘m really thinking to join the Samsung Community again and change from iPhone 13 Pro to this Monster …. Hmm …. But first…please…leg me know which Speaker do u use at 2.31? And which songs did u play? Cheers from Germany 👋
I've had the S-Pen disconnect issue too, would connect when clicking reconnect and inserting it, but the next time I'll use it, disconnected again. Had to also use the stay connected mode
I'm still rocking the S20 ultra. Just a note on the snap to zoom features on UA-cam. My S20 ultra since this was introduced, has always been just as smooth and easy as show here. My point is this. upgrading isn't worth the money for me yet. The new phones just don't do anything special that my almost 4 yr old phone does. Once the new ones have some new tec, it might be worth the up grade 🤷♂️

The system storage usage can be misleading. Since android now has stricter security features, the files app does not have access to your app storage by default, so all your app storage is classified as the system storage in that view. Notice that you have an info icon in the apps section. If you grant access, you will see the actual app storage and system storage there. You are welcome : )

Failed to mention Battery life is good if you have it in low power saving mode brightness down, go on your phone couple times a day. If use it couple hours a day your having to charge it twice a day at least, all in all great phone tho 💪🏼
How's the battery life of s23 ultra after 1 or 2 months of use? What's the screen on time when u use mobile data or wifi?? I heard the battery gets better in time but i wanna know it from u.
Dear ASBYT- Thanks for the great video. I have recently purchased the phone and I have a question. Is the battery getting better with time ? At the moment , I charged mine yesterday at 18.00 and today after one day the battery is 49% is it normal. I would appreciate your response. Thank you 👍😊
Possibly one of the best tech video I've seen in a while great in depth nitty gritty info.

In my opinion, the S23 Ultra is the first true Samsung flagship in years. Coming from a country that was shoved the Exynos processor for years.

Switched from my iPhone 13 Pro Max to the Samsung S23 Ultra. No regrets. Absolutely love this phone.
S23 ultra is beast phone 📱 mate nice choice 🤙🤳
For me the same. I was a little bit disappointed in the battery in the first week, coming from such a beast as the 13PM is. But the battery of the s23ultra became so much better in such a short time that I absolutely love it. Very happy with my switch as well.
I just did the same today, hoping not to have any regrets 😅
@@me1203 yeah. Lots of apple peeps will switch over and not realize that both android and oneui on samsung devices learn your usage and take a while to settle in to the full battery life. Lots of apple folks also don't realize that many problems they have with android are simple settings that you can change with the phone's default software. Enjoy your s23u!
Now thats a proper upgrade
Trust me bro you'll thank yourself for it. I am so happy about my s23 ultra its a brilliant phone. I sold my s22ultra 2 weeks ago.
The only thing that can be said about iphone is the apps are sometimes better on ios (this is changing rapidly especially with samsung partnering with the major social media apps)
It used to be a no brainer: Get the iphone.
Moving from a yesteryear iphone and having been a user of that brand for the past 8 years, I can say that the shift to the 1TB version of the S23 Ultra is mindblowing. It's definitely an overkill for my daily use, but I do not regret one bit the choice I've made.
Treat yo self
There is a 1tb? Only options I had were 256 and 512. I got that latter.
I hope so because I’m about to switch today to get this phone 😂❤
You've gone from a fiat to a rolls royce
@Mįķə Håņčhø I've seen the 1tb version with spotty availability @ best buy. I think it retails around 1600 and I've never seen it on sale when it is around. Right now you can get the 512 model for just under 1100 dollars though, which is even less than I paid a couple weeks ago. Imo you are better off saving money by getting the 512 version on sale and a 1tb usbc external hard drive if you really need the extra space.

The charging is actually pretty fast. The sad thing is, you have to buy a 5A type C cable and a 45W charger separately. You'll know it's Superfast Charging 2.0 when you plug it in and the charging animation is color blue instead of green.
The S23 does NOT use 50GB for system data. The system is actually only 20GB in size.
On mine it's 96GB :/
Exactly! It's because Samsung reports the coversion loss together with it's system files. I've seen such a big deal made over this but it's just people misunderstanding the way it's done.
@ayajul hussain The apps on the phone are together with the system. U just have to give permission to separate the apps
@ayajul hussain clear out your cache. I had the same issue and I just cleared out almost 30gb.
Is there any source about your info?
@@nazmulhuda3262. it's literally the industry standard. Every single manufacturer does this and they usually come with a label somewhere explaining exactly that. Different manufacturers just hide the storage elsewhere, as either apps or files etc.
It's not just for phones, it's for all electronics in existence. They convert GiB to GB and the conversion loss results in "less storage" even though you've technically not lost anything.
It's just as if everything was measured in cm, but the system uses inches, so the advertised "length" is the same, just in different units
While I wait for mine to arrive I'm trying to learn a lot in a hurry so thank you for this.
@@hinteregions np
@@andyH_England Some of the other brands don't have a video out mode and DEX is very useful as well.
Do you miss iMessage? I’m considering the jump but iMessage is keeping me on iOS!
@Mitch I'm in the UK so everyone I know mainly uses WhatsApp, iMessage and this blue/green thing is really not much of a deal over here.
@Marshall C.T. Yes, I've got notifications on my lock screen but I liked the way an email or text message popped up on the Always On display so I could read the first line or two and then decide whether to leave until later or reply immediately. At the moment I just get an icon so I don't know who or what has contacted me.
@@TravellingTechie as I said, there is a setting that makes the messages readable in the lock screen
I liked my S22U too but my S23U I love the battery life alone is worth the upgrade let alone the camera and vid!
@@blackbriarwolf5766 probably but im still enjoying it. I do have to say the system is better than IOS. I use my spouses phone and it's just worse.

I was at Walmart the other day and the lady at the register told me they don't support NFC payments, I replied with "really?" I came from a pixel 6 pro, the s23 ultra. Is amazing. Hands down the best phone I've ever owned
(Owned and loved the Galaxy 10+)
I honestly miss the huge screen.
Them maybe I'll trade it in
I traded my Note20U to the S23U. Camera system is significantly better... and the battery... omg lol
I'd wait until the S24, may as well get it when it's new. And older phones are still really solid.
Same here. The S23 Ultra is a good phone, but the lack of a microSD card slot is a dealbreaker for me.
Traded in my note 20 ultra for the s23 ultra! Battery life is night and day compared to a 3 year old Note 20 u
i upgraded from my Exynos S22 Ultra to the S23 Ultra - the differences are subtle but its (S23U) better in every way and a much smoother experience. I had continuous freezes and glitches on the S22U plus the battery life was terrible.
Where can I get that wallpaper 😍? Great video as always
Thanks for sharing your opinion, now I'm really leaning to getting S23U

software/security updates already ended for the S10? Wow. If I can get 4 years of updates (from now, Sep23) out of the S24U then I'm ok with that.

Looks like you need a replacement. Mine doesnt have those issue at all

Can I play Fortnite on it smoothly?
Samsung's photo's are better than Apple's aside from the shutter lag. And the video is close.
@@udruzenjejazavaca I heard about that the consistency issue with the older samsung phones but I haven't heard anyone say that about the s23u.
I had the S pen issue also. Found an option to keep S pen connected to phone, turned it on and had no problem since
glad you pointed out the s-pen not always registering on the keyboard, i have to tap to bring up keyboard which is annoying plus with the strange disconnect when ive only just ejected the s-pen from the phone. hopefully they fix on future update

Great review, what was the speaker u were using
I am really enjoying my s23 ultra, the only problem I have is it don't make the tea for me 😁
Awesome review man how's the in hand feel does it feel bulky I mean weight distribution currently using s21fe exynos variant which is crap shall I upgrade to s23 ultra please reply Greetings from India 🇮🇳
Where do you get your background wallpapers?
I watched this video seeing the title because I was looking for reasons to not get it, and it turns out that these deal-breakers really aren't for me - I'm already used to OneUI and its weird duplication, and I'm not a content creator. Just need to see how the squared edges feel in hand and then I'm very tempted indeed to get one. 512GB lavender is what I'm eyeing, if only for the 12GB RAM. As someone who had the OG Note but none since, I'm excited to see if I make more use of the S Pen now, as I can definitely think of uses for it :)
im glad you reviewed the 8GB RAM version. I ordered the 510GB storage only because i wanted the 12GB RAM version
Where did you get the joker wallpaper from?
Random question, but why do you use the Samsung messaging app and not Google messages? Do you just like it better?
I don't know his reason, but for me the Samsung one is better. Same for the phone app, Google's phone app is completely wired.
@@osnix0 I agree the phone app on Samsung is better, but with Google messages I like the spam protection, encrypted rcs messaging, emoji reaction, and individual message replies (aka rcs.) Idk just find Google messages to be better. Why do you like Samsung messages?
@@jakebaileyjb96 Samsung has those functionality in their app too. RCS depends on your provider.
I don't use so much SMS , for what I'm doing the Samsung app, fits better with the phone and contacts app.
I switched to pixel 7 pro from S20, s7 edge, and S3. I'm over Samsung's bloat ware and preloaded apps that I can not delete. Tiktok Facebook ect.
It’s also about consistency of camera and shutter lag for me. Having owned lots of phones it’s why I still can’t use the S23 ultra and only use iPhone or pixel (I do know there are some great Chinese alternatives but I’m talking mainstream with good long term support).
Battery life, that was the problem of the S22 Ultra, is now on par with the iPhone 14 Pro max (another phone I used before giving it to my son). I don't see a weakness. The best phone I have owned, bar none.
@@BlackburnPatriot I mainly take photos of a 3 year old that never stops and a cat so as it’s literally shown in this video not great for that. Other then that as a standalone product I agree it’s a fantastic phone. I definitely prefer it to the 14 Pro Max because I watch a lot of video on my phone so hate the dynamic island (enough to use a 14 instead or my 13 Pro Max for trips). I’ll always have an iPhone as my primary phone due to the ecosystem but I one things like DEX and a pen that Samsung do. Outside of the Z Fold 2 it’s the closest since my Note 9 to make me move back for sure. Maybe with the redesign next year. I do wish the Pro phones were the same weight as the 7 Pro though 13/14 and S23 are heavy!
7:10 The system is really just system plus apps because you haven't given I think it's my files app permission for storage so if you were to give it permission you would be able to see that most of that storage is taken up by apps and not the system

Hello, what speaker model was the one that pop-ups in this video? Sorry if already mentioned.

You would pick the S23U over the Fold series when it comes to media consumption?
Hi Alan, Declan O Shaughnessy Galway Ireland here in the next year am changing my phone to Samsung now it is a choice yes first option of two am going for s23ultra green 512gb version with Snapdragon processor 8gen2 . Just a quick question for you as the s24ultra is being released next year with in Europe which I think is exynos it is a higher spec phone is the s23ultra still ahead as a phone with the good phone it is at moment any ideas cheers Declan and as I am on stock android Nokia 8.3 phone and you say Samsung phones carry bloatware can the bloatware or most of it be uninstalled cheers Declan 👍🙏🙏
there is a problem with me that make it so annoying
Its weight is heavy and its sharp corners hurt the hand. I put a cover and solved the problem of the corners, but the weight also increased and became heavy. You cannot bear to use it with one hand, even for a minute.
Do you leave scene optimizer on or off on your camera?
What many "reviewer" seems to forgot Europe now got snapdragon for the first time
hi ASBYT, I'd like to ask one important question, do you have any info about if I'm going to use this Samsung on my motorbike, will the vibration damage the cameras? I got a XIAOMI MI10 T Pro, just recently dead the camera focus in it, due to some jam some internal parts. what do you think about it?
Great video. Wish I could like the Galaxy ui but the animations put me off compared to the pixel or iPhone. Just doesn’t seem as polished but then I’ve got ocd and notice these things too much
Not so long ago, I used to have a smartphone with a *_3.5_* inch screen size by the name of the _iPhone 4S._ I upgraded to a *_5.1_* inch screen smartphone which is the _Galaxy S5_ aka the GS5.
From the last few gens Samsung flagships, like Note 9,10, S10, S20...etc, the so-called slow down isn't significant, til this day still a lot of people using those happily
But the thing is, every generation they improve quite a bit. Although lots of people saying if you're using S22U, there's no need to upgrade to this S23U, but the fact is some updates are very tempting making there's a reason to upgrade even just a gen's different like the performance, battery life, temperature control, shape refined...etc.
On the other hand, on iPhones side, you don't see much improvement every year except they just putting faster chips in it, which most people were only using half of it's performance most of the time, and apple even make things worse like from a big notch to the dynamic island, an even more stick out camera, still 20W charging, still so much limit in IOS...etc
so it's not the old ones last, but it is no reason to upgrade to a new one
This is best flagship ever. I switch S21 U ---> S23 U and very impressed this devise 🔥
You can change the increments of volume in goodlock using sound assistant to make it more precise
Love the outro music who produced it?
It's not 56gb of storage by the system. When you see the "App" line, there is a ℹ next to it and this is to grant authorization of space
So, the 56 gb will split in two : one for the system and the other half for the app. Now, everything is in the system because you didn't grant authorization (sorry for my English, I'm French)
Great video by the way!
Called 'android file transfer' not the greatest app ever or anything, very basic but does it well
I really like Samsungs Android experience there's quite a few really neat settings/ options/features that are not on stock Android

The Samsung camera assistant app fixes it. You can use it to tweak the camera settings with very little to no loss in picture quality.
Yes, it's fixed. Go to the store and check it out you will get it.
@@SocrCoach44it’s fixed…to a degree. It’s still not as good as the iPhone or Pixel and causes some image degradation. For me it’s not an issue since I focus on still photos. I guess a lot of people take pictures of moving objects

Adam it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to check out your Video. Also thanks so much for sharing your insights on the S23 appreciate it.✌️
Looks great and I'm glad you mostly compared it to other Android devices--as opposed to the usual route (iPhone).

Thank you for talking about the stupid UA-cam zooming. I don’t understand why they did it and I hate it!
Who did it?
I believe people don't understand how this works.
In the case of UA-cam, people have to complain to Google to fix the problems.
And from this, let's jump to duplicate software, this is the exact reason why Samsung keeps some of his software, otherwise they have to wait for whoever owns it to implement their features.
