Excellent video! Excellent tips! My brother works for Samsung and he kept convincing me to make the switch to Galaxy S23 Ultra after being an iPhone 11 Pro Max for a long time. Man, am I glad he did! He pre-ordered it for me last Monday and got me the unlocked version of the S23 Ultra with the 1TB storage option in the Phantom Black color (my favorite). I got it within 2 business days and OMG! @TechnicallyAlex what is that black plastic sheet with the camera cut outs for, that's loose in the box? It looks like you should be able to peel it off - as there is a shape of the phone etched into it - and attach to the back protector, but it doesn't seem to come apart.
Thank you! This is extremely helpful! Most of us don't get a new phone for well over 2 years and new features that we wish we had, we probably do and don't even know it, and in this case even more! GREAT VIDEO! P.S. ignore some of the hater's comments below; likely your competition that hates that you know more than they do and that your video is better than theirs!
Great tutorial video, high paced. I paused after each instruction and decided what changes I wanted to make, took awhile but well worth it. The first time I just watched the video straight through and was saying what just happened? Excellent information 👌
Thanks for all the tips. Obviously better to use higher resolutions for cameras but I found out that using default FHD for video is best for zooming which is 1080p. Can zoom 20x rather then 8x or 10x. Was recording my niece's hockey game this wknd in 4k and noticed a bit blurry as I was zoomed in full then seen at home that FHD 1080p is way better. That's just for zooming though for people who might need to zoom when recording. :)
Higher resolution isn't always better. The 200MP main sensor has tiny 0.6μm pixels that let in very little light, so low light photos can look very dark and grainy in this mode. This sensor can combine the pixels down 4-1 to 50MP @1.2μm or 16-1 to 12.5MP @2.4μm equivalents, which trades off resolution for better and faster processing, less grain, better low light performance, and smaller file sizes. Most people should stick with 50MP and 12.5MP modes most of the time. Also, if the subject of your photo isn't moving, the night mode, even in the day, stacks the information from multiple fast shutter photos together and makes for some perfect looking photos with a ton of dynamic range and a complete lack of grain in any shadows. Downside is you have to hold still for 2-5s and it's limited to 12.5MP. I recommend doing a quick 1 minute comparison in a moderately lit room between 200MP, 50MP, 12.5MP, and night mode and just zoom in a bit to see the differences. Night mode also vastly improves the 0.6x, 3x, and 10x cameras, which all use much smaller sensors than the main camera and all greatly fall off in quality in all but perfect lighting.
This video was soooo helpful! I followed along and changed all of my settings. I have been using iPhones for more than a decade so this really helped. Thank you so much!! 🙏
The lift to wake up gesture is not good on any phone in my experience. It keeps unlocking whilst you walk or cycling. This drains battery of course but also can accidentally press buttons. Throwing this out there for anyone interested

Great video! I’ve had the Samsung S 22+ and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, getting ready to switch back to the S 23 ultra, so much more that can be done with android. Everybody’s got their preference and respect that. Keep doing the great video you are doing.👍🏻
Good tips! Taking advantage of goodlock functionalities - specifically one hand operations (creating 12x swipe actions) and keys cafe (custom keyboard) should be done early on as well
For swipe gesture navigation, I ran into conflicts with image editing. For example, if I wanted to crop an image and dragged the border of the image from right to left, instead of that working, it'd send me back to the previous window. There's a second method of swipe gestures that works better in this case. After you enable swipe gestures (4:35), click on "More options" and select "Swipe from bottom." This gives you the same functionality with three locations to swipe up from corresponding to the buttons you're already used to, and there won't be conflicts with situations in apps like I described before (though you still may encounter issues with apps that have you tapping on the bottom part of your phone).
Ahhh, I knew this video was going to be good when you got to the Developer Options. That was my favorite part on my previous S10. Love tweaking those simple quality of life settings that just make the phone feel snappy and yours at the same time. Thanks Alex!
@Sai 92 then definitely stay away from the developer settings. You can wreck your phone playing around in there. Samsung has a button to turn off animations. If you want to lower them like he did then use the dev settings, HOWEVER, do not change anything else in there you do not understand. You can brick your phone.
@Weasel Logic definitely appreciate that heads up. I haven't really done much in there at all really, it was just new to me. I did change the animation an thats it
have used spigen cases for pretty much every phone i have used since my S5 but this time i went for a caseology case for my S23 Ultra have to say it feels just as good as a spigen case and it also has grips on the side making it easier to hold the s23 ultra.
All those gesture settings. I have no idea why all of them aren't on by default. They make a so much more intelligent and intuitive OS. Thanks for the video.
swiping up from the bottom opens Samsung Pay if you have it enabled and use it to pay for stuff, so having a swipe navigation that takes you home would conflict with that.
Great video and very helpful. Two comments: on my S23 Ultra, the device protection feature you describe is not included. Searched for it everywhere and have not found it. Concerning the "one-handed" feature, a bar appears above the minimized screen which allows you to change its position on your screen. On mine it first appeared all the way on top which kind of defeated the purpose for the feature.
Hey! Yea the Device Protection is not available on some carriers/regions, so you may not have it. I'm afraid I can't really tell what the 2nd issue is, you can always contact Samsung support on their discord though - and thanks for the tip!
What a great video, thanks for the tips! One extra thing i do is turn battery protection on after the first few charges, it increases the battery life by a mile. And please turn off all the invasive things like AI and data collection from Ggle and Sams!
On the flip side, if you are upgrading from anything newer than a S20 then it'll also transfer all your phone settings as part of the process. So if you've changed a lot of these settings on your old device already you won't have to do it again. That being said, I think the antivirus at 11:00 mark is carrier dependent. The space for that option wasn't even present at all.
Becareful in there. F*ck around and find out is the proper quote if you play too much in there and don't know what it all means. You dont need it for just animations. Theres a button in the regular settings. (Samsung added it in android 12 after seeing everyone going into dev options. Or even in android 11.)
@TechnicallyAlex when turning on the .5x for the three animations tabs, you actually have to keep that developers option tab on at all times then, correct? Because when I shut the developer option back off, so it would go back to being hidden, when I reopened it again, my animations were back to being 1x.
THANK YOU! For all the wonderful tips. Many/most apply to the Galaxy S20 Ultra which I just smashed and now had to get this new S23. These are wonderful phones and after ALL you detailed explanations, my usage will be a lot better. Thanks.
Great video, very helpful. As an enthusiast, I would also select the option to charge the phone up to 85% and deactivate fast charging for the best possible battery longevity. I was so happy when I saw that option on Samsung, I have only seen it on Asus and Sony models.
Spigen or Otterbox are the only two case brands I trust! I currently have Otterbox brand for my S23 because the store I got it from didn't have Spigen in stock
Can u copy photo edits like an iPhone? Basically copy and paste the edits you made on another photo like the exposure, contrast, saturation, highlights, and so forth?

That was genuinely helpful and easy to follow along and set up my own s23 ultra with you; thank you so much and keep up the great work! Very helpful tips :)
Great video! The camera's 200-megapixel mode is primarily for those seeking high-resolution images suitable for large frames on the wall. By default, the S23 Ultra combines 200 pixels into a 12-pixel image, using 16 pixels to form one. This results in exceptional photo quality with an optimal size for social media usage, ensuring efficient memory space utilization without burdening storage."
Goodness, my first android was a OnePlus 7T and It was really easy to get into after being iphone always. Going straight to Samsung must be something! Lot of features
So many videos title similar however this one is LEGIT! Did almost every single one of these as they mimic my previous settings from my S21 Ultra. Only things I didn't copy were preferential.
I don't recommend using gestures instead of the 3 navigation buttons at the bottom. I've had time when I've been locked into something and had to restart the phone, because the phone behaves differently once you open some apps, aka being locked into an app with no button options to get out of it. You're not going to lose anything by keeping the old buttons. Except I'd change the order to the original android setup with back being on the left. I would also say several of these options are for when you're at home by yourself only. If you value security then having anyone in the universe able to use your phone... maybe not the best option. The display resolution is not an available setting for all carriers, like mine. It was for my last several galaxy S phones which were via Verizon.
I just got this phone yesterday. Finally finished the basics but this video takes it to the next level. I'm glad I just mentioned looking into it's advanced functions right before going to bed. Thanks Google, for spying on me, and recommending me this video :D

My biggest tip is to enable the older colour settings through ADB and use like AMOLED CINEMA instead of vivid. And turn off scene optimisation for camera plus use image softening
@@johnpaulfarwell1140 AMOLED CINEMA is kind of like between vivid and natural. But also the proper dci-p3. scene optimisation for camera turns off some AI, handy but sometimes bad. image softening just makes the images less sharp and more natural looking

What screen protector you using?
I prefer mous
@@TINSTAAFL1I prefer Skittles 😌
Does it have a stand
I just bought my s23 with cash, so far so good, great video, thanks!
I only picked up the s23 ultra a few days ago and have fallen in love with it. I've gone from an a51 to this the difference is mad
I'm afraid I can't really tell what the 2nd issue is, you can always contact Samsung support on their discord though - and thanks for the tip!
mcafee not worth it, just screens play store apps which I think google screens, I've seen free mcafee gum up windows.
The space for that option wasn't even present at all.
it's mcafee, a nuisance in Windows, comes "free" with some apps. Looks like it just screens apps which I'd think aren't viral from play store
This is actually a good and legit video finally not some random crap everybody already knows thank you
When i hold this in my hand at a tech store. Its feels so premium and beautifull unlike the simple iphone design
I've been waiting for a video like this. Thanks much. Learned some good stuff--even though I have an S23+
I just got a s23 and was a bit lost about a lot of features.. This has made the phone a lot more usable..
Thank you so much!!
I have just switched to a Samsung from an iPhone...
I LOVE IT! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for making this video just got mine yesterday and I'm loving it! Upgraded from a s22 super to this. Night and day difference!
Great video👏👏! I learned a lot of new things I had no idea of like the "about developer opt" and others. Thanks a lot for making it easier for us🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the great tips. You made me love my S23 Utra more 🤗 xx
Happy to help!
Can u copy photo edits like an iPhone? Basically copy and paste the edits you made on another photo like the exposure, contrast, saturation, highlights, and so forth?
Not just for 23 Ultra. Works for my Note 20 Ultra as well.
Thanks sooo much! My device is on the way. In addition to the protection case is there a screen protector that you like?
I'm so happy I saw your video in the notifications as "recommended". I watched it and gave me so many tips on how to start enjoying S23 Ultra. Will get mine on 17th. I'm so excited. Thank you for sharing this ❤️
I have always had samsung never did iPhone and this is One of the best videos quickly hitting points with s23 ultra appreciate real video doesn't waste time
Just switched from iPhone after 10 years, to an S23 Ultra. This is what I was looking for, thank you!
Thank you. I was a Long time iPhone user and just got the S23U. Very helpful your video.
Have any idea why i dont see device protection under battery and device care?
Do you have a "Security and Privacy" settings section. Thats where the 'Turn on' option for mine is, as a suggestion.
I turned on the Dolby Atmos while I was watching this video on the phone- instantly noticed a huge jump in sound quality. Amazing video friend!
That was genuinely helpful and easy to follow along and set up my own s23 ultra with you; thank you so much and keep up the great work! Very helpful tips :)
I commeted before, but I love my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra! Because this will get 4 years of security updates, I will not be upgrading anytime soon.
Someone watched MKBHD👀
Love this video, just got my new S23 Ultra and this is GOLD! Thanks
Very good video. I used a few of your tips. Much appreciated!
Great to hear!
I just got mine but when I take a selfie it looks kind of an orange tone
Or when I make a video call its the same thing
You can change the settings
Thanks brother. I just bought my Galaxy S23 Ultra. Watching your video, I've unlocked features I never knew existed. Thanks again!
My very first thing i did on my new S23U: Installed AdBlocker
Which one
Or just use Brave browser

Same, that way no matter what app or game I don't have to be assaulted by nonsense
I bought my 1st Samsung phone and its s23 ultra and I came across your video. Thank you for all your tips, really useful. Appreciate it
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it,I’m new android user 😂 started with s23Ultra
I've had 3 phones on far with gesture and I've never been stuck in an app. If it won't back up I just swipe up and it closes the app.
@@kyreeludwig2696 The whole internet is clapping for your achievements.
@irzyxelwj XD and I'm sure it's clapping at how dumb you sound for not knowing how to swipe up to close an app
I just got this phone yesterday.
Finally finished the basics but this video takes it to the next level.
I'm glad I just mentioned looking into it's advanced functions right before going to bed.
Thanks Google, for spying on me, and recommending me this video :D
this option with animation acceleration is simply a masterpiece 💪😎 good thing i came across this movie 😁
haha glad you enjoyed
I just ordered my online. Will come back to this video once I'll have it in my hands. I'm excited!
Great video. Many settings I hadn't seen before! S23 ultra is incredible, a true pocket computer
Great video. I wish I would have known half this when I got my s21. Just picked up the 23 ultra after my 21 committed an act of self deletion. I really liked the s21 to. Thank you for the great tutorial.
My s23 ultra will be here tomorrow 😅
I honestly thought most of these were going to be gimmicky things, but I was completely wrong. Thanks for the helpful video!
I just upgraded from a s20+ to the s23 ultra, I went with the 1TB storage
Are u glad you updated from the s20 plus to the s23 ultra
@@smoov_23 I'll tell you when it's been delivered
@@WTC-1990 I appreciate it bro. I am also thinking about upgrading
@@smoov_23 I am, exchanged from the s20 to s23 and its a much better version more or less
@Smoov _90 2 months in, and it's a great phone. I'm glad I upgraded
The amount of customisability on this phone is astonishing. It's been 3 hours since I got my phone. And I'm still Personalizing it.
My biggest tip is to enable the older colour settings through ADB and use like AMOLED CINEMA instead of vivid.
And turn off scene optimisation for camera plus use image softening
what do all of those do?
@@johnpaulfarwell1140 AMOLED CINEMA is kind of like between vivid and natural. But also the proper dci-p3.
scene optimisation for camera turns off some AI, handy but sometimes bad.
image softening just makes the images less sharp and more natural looking
is there a setting for image softening?
This was the most helpful video of s23 ultra I've seen so far!
Thank you very much. I really enjoy watching your video.
Hey buddy hows it going? Im an apple maniac and just alowed myself to turn myself in to the s23 ultra for the very first time. I had iphone since the Iphone 4. Before that just normal cells, no smart cells. My experience with smartphones have always been on the IOS platform. I must say that after watching this video I was able to set my phone to a very friendly way. I never imagined that an Android was so powerfull. Many setups not available on an Iphone. Thank you very much for this video brow.
Thank you so much! You have really helped. The new phone is lightning fast and awesome. We don't realize how optimizing our phones can really have an impact on our daily lives.
Really appreciate this video as an iPhone user coming to Android!
