I think the 151 UPC promos are greatly undervalued. The mew was the chase for the Japanese set. I’ve been buying up every copy I see for $3-$4. You can’t tell me that won’t be a $15+ card down the road.

Great job on the video, you highlighted some really nice cards I definitely want to pick up. I do think there is something special about that Magikarp art though, when you first notice the Gyarados in the background it's captivating. The same artist Shinji Kanda made the Giratina from Lost Origins which we are also seeing crazy prices on. I think his style is just so different from most of what we see in Pokemon that it demands attention, and the market seems to be reflecting that

I got back into collecting around the 20th anniversary when I came across XY Evolution and was like hey those look like the old packs, never looked back ever since. My wife got into collecting around 2019 or 2020 during sword and shield.
I grade quite a bit, and it might just be me, but i feel like they are tougher on everything pre-151. After 151 they started letting print lines slide, since literally every card is covered in them. Ill probley hang on to a raichu and groudon just to have them and avoid the headache in the future after all the clean copies are gone off the market.
I wish I could collect more vintage and complete some sets from my childhood but I can not spend what it would take to get those cards lol, plus I actually think Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet are really good eras too
I think, a few factors as to why Magikarp from Paldea Evlolved has spiked, is due to the pop report, the art is by the same artist who designed the Girantina V Alt Art and on top of that, Gyrados is in the Magikarp illustration art also.

Paradox Rift is also my favorite set in S&V. Its amazing. love all the retro synthwave style colors. 151 is awesome, but the colors are more muted and "safe". Paradox Rift does something different and I love it.
as a investment thought process i got 2 moon boys 1 is a 10 and other is 9.5 the 9.5 has one 9 and rest tens do you think trading it for booster boxes sealed is worth the trade or keep the card. Im tring to take emotion out of it sense we have one and all cards fam pulled. Im mixed on inv. 1st or memorys 1st

That eevee from twilight masquerade is pretty sweet, just bought a Japanese version for about 10 bucks. Probably won’t invest in the rest of the set and I’m alright with that
@AAROBUCHIHA well before this last Japanese boom English cards are usually always worth more. I like to play the tcg so I enjoy reading the cards, it also is more special if you get a psa10 in English since it's so easy to get a 10 in Japanese
Im a noob. Got lucky and pulled two magikarps. Should i have them graded? They look good but I'm not very experienced. And downside to just holding them
If they look really nice definitely worth getting graded. If they hit a 10 they're worth way more. If you hold they can definitely fall in price. We just don't know when.
I was buying base set, Team Rocket, and Neo packs as a kid in the 90's at the flea markets for 5 dollars. Back then, there was a lot of fake cards being traded at school also, so it was easy to get ripped off. I stopped but started again in 2018 and remember buying team rocket for 50 to 70 dollars a pack. And now it's at the point of no return.
I didn’t want to buy the groudon from paradox because of the price and now that it’s going up I don’t want to. I did buy the Japanese copy for like $6 a few weeks back. I know I won’t make money off it but I just love to have it in my collection. It’s my first Japanese card! Also it hurts me to see the 151 cards drop. They are absolutely beautiful especially the zapdos.
I think umbreon TG is kind of down low. Once brilliant stars is truly OOS, I think it will rocket. I bought a copy, alongside each eeveelution from the set, and will likely go back and buy a couple more umbreons.

That's because they're brand new sellers with bad feedback usually. A lot of people put NM, and it isn't actually NM. I also have said a million times tcg player isn't the cheapest at all. Just good for the average price

I really appreciate that! Honestly, all great choices. Just try and get a few of each so you have options. If I have just one of something, I never sell it. Otherwise, if you can find the 151 upc for like $80-$90, I think that's another great pickup.

All that really matters is how popular it is. This is why the moonbreon will always be pretty expensive and won't matter how many are graded.
Ps. Theres no way the magicarp is only expensive raw because it sells for alot in a 10, because the PSA 9s are going for 150. Pretty easy to debunk that logic.
How? Both illustration rares, both equally hard to grade, both have great arts. One has slightly better art, and the other is a more popular pokemon. Seems pretty equal to me

Pop report now on nearly brand new printed cards isn’t much to go off. 1 year there will be 10 times the amount of PSA 10s for these new card. Reprints in most of these sets is inevitable. Just wait on these 2023/2024 set cards. Buy the sword and shield secrets/alts. Vintage is a good buy currently. These brand new cards are way too hype rn. Just my opinion, never know with these things! Love the videos pokebeard, appreciate all the information you bring to the hobby! Newcomers to PSA grading are sending in every copy hoping to hit the jackpot when you shouldn’t send a card unless ur positive it’s getting a 10. I really appreciate that. Actually, most cards get graded the most the first year they're released unless they get super hyped up later on. Are you talking about the cards I put on this list? Or like the magikarp and gastly and stuff? Cuz half the cards on this list are dirt cheap. Also, since these sets don't have a ton of value, not that many people are going to be opening them in the future. Also, a lot of alt arts are super hyped and overpriced right now. The time was about 3 months ago. Even cards getting graded is less than it was during the S&S era, and everybody is a lot more knowledgeable now. These cards are actually pretty hard to grade. Look at umbreons vmax numbers vs. magikarps numbers. People are just sending them in, hoping psa will slack and give them a 10.
For the cards you showed in this video, I also think they can go up quite a bit from current prices. The 20-30$ cards for sure could hit 50-60$ and beyond in the short term. But I think the risk level is high rn for that also. Maybe only 1 or 2 bets will pay off. In a year I wouldn’t wanna be stuck holding the bag of 50 of any given card when the value has dropped. Buyouts will surely happen on some of these. 151 is a blast to open, pop reports are gonna surge. For the other sets too. I’m with ya tho, I’m still buying at current prices. Excited to see what the future holds!
The point of the video is the percentage of 10's vs other grades not the total amount graded. People don't seem to care about total population anymore. Look at umbreon vmax

They definitely are great eras, but just start getting vintage cards of your favorite pokemon and start there.

Well, my ocd says cgc since the English will be cgc so they match but psa has better value and sells easier.

Tyranitar and magikarp are both illustration rares. Magikarp isn't Textured. Just a regular illustration rare. They're both technically secret rares.
