  • Rob presents our list of 7 dilemmas only married gamers will understand. Had an experience with any of these? Can you think of any we’ve missed? Let us know in the comments.
Married gamers will understand that their favourite hobby faces a few more challenges in adult life. Take the battle for the TV, or the need to take part in polite adult conversation instead of playing Stellar Blade. You don’t have to be married to understand these dilemmas - if you live with other people or share your life with other people, these will be familiar too. Did this week’s Friday Feature miss any classic dilemmas? Pop them in the comments.
And if you’re just joining us: yes, Rob’s Friday Features are back. Catch up on recent episodes here…

Midway of that sentence I usually have turned on my PS5, controller in hand, scrolling through menus picking a game and going "Ok! I'll stay up for a while longer."
Then about two hours later, the phone rings "When are you coming to bed?"
'I'll just need to get to a save point."(which are pretty much nonexistent in games these days, but that excuse gives a few extra minutes of gaming.)

I married a gamer, we solved the problem by having two PS5's linked to two TV's in the front room. And her dad is a massive gamer too so when the in-laws come over we play something together or he watches / gives tips or watch UA-cam playthroughs.
It does get tricky when you both want to play the same game but you can't get to it but your wife can so you have to avoid the front room for fear of spoilers.

We also have two children, our eldest who seems to have been born a gamer and never stopped lol, so we're basically a gaming family.
I personally would never have got with a non-gamer because gaming has been a love of mine since I was about 4 and it's amazing to share the hobby and talk about it together. If we go on holiday, we always take a portable with us such as the Switch or Steam Deck so we can play occasionally.

Having Rob as my father-in-law and watching old Friday features together is my new goal in life!
As for my hardships with a significant other: they always say how they want to play video games with me and how they beat Halo when they were six years old, but now they're clearly not interested in ANY game genre and can't move a 3D model up a ladder.

It warms my soul to see all the classic elements of Friday features again. Delsin, “Rob’s mom”, a recurring game tally. *chef’s kiss* Fridays are more fun again!

Thank you for reminding me of my age, I just turned 27 last week 😂 My cousin has always told me that I’d have the easier time finding a significant other, since usually the girlfriend/wife is the one who doesn’t play video games 😅
I’m so happy to see the old Friday Features back! Even Delsin is there!

The return of the Rob Friday Feature to Access gives me the same happy warmth inside that I get when firing up the Lord of The Rings Extended Editions to herald the start of my Christmas Holidays. You bow to no-one.

Omg this is so me. My husband is quite supportive of my hobby, which is fortunate. He can't play, and wouldn't even if he wanted to, but he watches me, or reads his kindle next to me. The second point is true too, having to take turns with my kids and all the fun arguments that come with it.

The last entry reminds me of staying up until 7am playing KH3 with headphones in on release day because I didn't want my housemates interrupting 😂 I only stopped when one of them came down to breakfast and asked me if Id slept at all

I have literally stayed at home and gamed for a solid week rather than go on holiday. And I mean solid, no tv, no movies, just me and first playthrough of Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen on PS4; and my wife supported me in that decision. She didn’t want to listen to me moan about lousy internet service, it being too hot/bright/early for a week, and I didn’t want to go.
She also was fine with me turning 30 square meter shed into a bespoke gaming space, complete with log burner, wood panel walls, and a truly RIDICULOUS sound system.
Folks get yourself a missus like mine and the gaming worlds can be yours.
