Quick thinking! Love how the tech was paying attention and tries to do something. Love how you locked in on the bass to make it sound like the kick was still there to not lose the groove
Yep, that happened to me once in 40 years and it smacks. This guy did a good job 👍 with the problem. I had to send someone to my house and bring me another head. Note, be prepared because when you're on the clock, it's not fun. Lucky we had a strong partnership with the owner and we bought everyone a round and waited until the head got there. We actually got out ahead of that. Word got around quickly and we became a real thing. Funny how things go.
Remember watching an incredible gospel band when, during the set, the snare drum broke. The tech manage to sneak on to the stage, remove the snare and bring it back a few minutes later while the drummer carried on without missing a beat. When i mentioned this to all my mates, not one of them had seen or noticed it happen. True professionals.
This has actually happened to me as the sound engineer twice 🤣🤣🤣. I just get some good cello or gaff tape and go for it whilst the drummer uses the floor Tom. It only takes like 3-4 minutes to sort out everything. When it happened during a worship concert it was soo much easier to deal with. The worship leader noticed so they just brought everything down and sort of transitioned into a prayer moment till i finished taping the kick 🤣🤣🤣. Fun times
I'm a Pro Bassist/Drummer, and other things. I'm also a Backline Tech... As soon as the Drummer gives "that look" and searches from Kik to Fl Tom, guy shulda been there with Duct Tape, had Drummer Stand Up (since he's playing Tom anyways,) tape up Kik head to finish Song, then come back to set with a Drill, bits, Drummer Head for next Song... depending on where in PW they are... But, yeah. Great thinking by Drummer!!!
Love how he immediately switched to the floor tom, great thinking

that wasn’t even the tech, that’s Julian Tabares, he’s a great pianist/MD

Julian's face😂😂😂
Quick and great response. That's happened to me twice and I did the same thing.
We've all been there😂😂😂😂
Hahaha! Is there any place more fun for a bass player to sit than on top of the bass amp? I think not! 😂👍
Bro Julian’s face 😹😹
Let’s get a video explaining how you get that thick tone off the jazz bass please
This just happened to us last week. Beater went straight through the kick drum and had to use the floor tom 😭😭😭
Good instinct to go to the floor Tom 👏
Lol i just one of my band buds flip the bass to the other side all while using the floor tom method... The beat must go on

I really want to see how that night ended. I really feel for the drummer since I am one and that has got to be my worst nightmare.
Quick thinking moving to the floor tom - not great but would work in a pinch!
Was this that week long cruise that KevonStage made a video about??
