I know where you got that car, i almost bought it . But my friend bought a 95 maine state cruiser was about mint, he paid around $3,800 and delivered . He quoted me 6k for this one. My friends was this clean with crank windows. And yes maine had trim rings . I remember when i was a kid. Put cold air intake and take those cats off and better mufflers and it will really perform will lift front left side up!
Wow, That's only used 6 years! In my old hometown they used copcars about 20 years LOL, I recall a 1980's Dodge Diplomat, 3 1990 Chevy Caprices, and a 1990 Ford LTD still in use when I graduated in 2000. and later 1991-1994 Caprices used well into the 2000's.
In 1994 the Ohio State Highway Patrol used LT-1 Caprices, and talking to one of the Troopers that had one said it was the first car they’ve had since the days of the 440 Plymouth’s that would actually spin the tires from a standing start. This particular guy started in 1968 & his first car he was assigned once he went to road patrol was a ‘69 Biscayne 2 Dr sedan with a 427. He did say it was a real torque monster to say the least!
The guys that drove those old sleds are fun to talk to, aren’t they? Mine is a non-posi car and it will spin the rear wheel for about as long as you want it to :-)
Excellent video. I became a lifelong fan of these cars when I read an article in the Detroit News in 1992 about the current police cars from Chevrolet and Ford. The article said Ford's new 4.6 liter V8 was good but couldn't overcome the brute strength of the Chevy 5.7 liter V8.
Great comment. I drove many of the 4.6 cars and they were anemic to say the least. They didn't handle as well either. That's not to say the Caprice was super graceful :-)
@@HilltownCT I wouldn't say the 4.6 liter Ford was slow. That engine was getting rave reviews in 1992 for being a modern design while Chevy was still using the old 70s era engines. But they had to admit head to head the big Chevy motor was faster!
great buy. I live in New Brunswick Canada, RCMP had lots, I used to see Maine Troopers driving these.. they all put those trim rings on the wheels. Great colour. Pays to look for these. never know where they show up. In Maine I saw a Blue 9c1 1980 Mailbu 350 for sale x Maine State Police.

I oned one a couple of years ago. Loved that thing...
Had the same '94 9C1, but I always preferred the box '90 Caprice 9C1 I had at the same time because of it's looks and design, but the '94 was fast as hell!
Awesome find!! You said it right on the special 9C1 facts. The crank windows are super rare, so are the specific door panels. Not all 9C1 had rubber floor. That was optional. The wheels (N97) are police only. I own a 1996 9C1 and it was a school board car. Who knows why they needed a 260hp car for that :D You should put the Unity S6 light back on and enjoy this great car! Cheers from germany :)
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Hopefully, your school board car saw gentle use. Do you know if the unity S6 lights are universal or do I need something specific?
@@HilltownCT Yes, there are different rod lengths to different cars. I don't know the exact size, but I think ebay could help you. And as far as I know, there is left and right.
Nice Caprice I have a 94 it's not a 9c1 but I swapped a lt1 in it that has a mild cam and the supporting mods in it. I drove it with the stock lt1 for awhile and it's been my favorite car. You'll love that caprice they drive really good.
Great find! Have you seen any of Vice Grip Garage's videos here on YT? He's a humorous, car nut that finds older vehicles and gets them up running and driving. A product he recommends, and that I have used myself, is the Berryman's B12 - a fuel system cleaner (like Seafoam I guess). Maybe give that a go too? Has worked for me on some of my vehicles with minor issues.
Hey my friend, long time no hear. Yeah, I get a kick out of Derek. He’s a knowledgeable “feller”. I’ve actually never used B12, but i think I’ll give that a go. Thanks for the suggestion!
I just bought a 93 caprice with a 5.0 with 67000 miles just some sun fading but no rust, its for sale if u know anyone im in detroit but its my fourth i love these cars
I have gold 94 i bought in 2010. Immaculate condition then garage kept. Looked only a few yrs old. I need a new engine because it over heated at 75 and too late. Its still nice. I'm gonna restorea4.3 liter it again. I have power windows. I'll have to send you a picture.
If you had the cojohes one could be ringed out to a standing 151-53 mph, wouldn’t really want to push it past that( weight, suspension other components etc.) with trans upgrades and serious 💲💲tires, beef sway bars some wilwood brakes , 165 would be in reach.
What do I use to get the spot light out I have a 1996 bubble Caprice putting it together. Have a question the front fender wells in the front can I replace them they rusted out
My spotlight was held in by two screws outside behind the rubber seal. I would assume the fender wells are available aftermarket, but I haven’t looked.
@@HilltownCT really too bad you really kind of want that option. Do you know what gear ratio the rear end is. I think one of those codes might tell you but I'm not sure which one
@@HilltownCT I had a 96 5.7 and had to replace the water pump after taking out the pump I’m like what the hell is that the spark plugs !? I said that’s ridiculous
It’s a b*%#, but a tuneup can be done by the novice, shops used to charge like 800 bucks to wrench on the opti-spark system because a ton of labor is involved to keep it up to par.
Ahhh!!! 🤗 The Ford Crown Victoria's RIVAL! The mighty Chevy Caprice! I 💕 them both! 👍😎💪
That's one nice Caprice. I have a 1996 Caprice 9C1 that I am restoring.
Nice man. I love the ‘96. They were the lowest production of the 94-96 cars too, I believe.
