Normally we woke up 4am to do preparations for breakfast, so it remain fresh and warm, as well to do our obligation and morning prayer. That part of life. Some even woke up earlier if the food centre is quite a distant.

9:54 - Usually the people of Kelantan and Terengganu will have breakfast with heavy food such as nasi dagang or others.
For certain people in other states, usually they will have breakfast with nasi lemak, roti canai, roti bakar or at least various types of traditional cakes ( we call it in Malay language is "kuih" )

1:55 Doesn't sound like a prayer to me, but more like a ceramah agama, or in English it's religious talk/lecture. Usually some mosque would hold this talk/lecture after the pray time.
And yes, eating rice using spoon is much easier than using fork. More practical.
You don't use pitchfork to shovel up dirt, right? Same concept.
Eating rice using fork is similar like eating pasta using spoon. 🤣🤣🤣
Atas Tol literally translate as Above Toll.

As a young Terengganu boy our family normally have nasi dagang for breakfast and keropok lekor fish cake for afternoon tea with some kuih. Living abroad I am missing those days.
Terengganu and Kelantan are the sweet tooth states of Malaysia. Everything we cook will have higher sugar content comparatively to other states. Along with full course rice dish our older generation were fishermen and needed high energy for the long day in the seas. The excess fish that we caught will be turned into food products so that it won’t spoil or go to waste so that’s how dishes like keropok lekor, keropok keping ( fish crackers) dried seafood and other delicacies came about.

Nasi Dagang is a mixture of normal rice and sticky (glutinous) rice added with fenugreek and boiled in coconut milk. The sausage like thing you ate was keropok lekor. Keropok means crackers. It is made of mixture of flours with a generous portion of fish paste. The taste is depending on how and who prepared it and the type of fish used.

Kuala Terengganu is one of the most beautiful city in Malaysia besides George Town, Kota Kinabalu city, Malacca city, and Johor Bahru city regardkless Kuala Lumpur city. Kuala Terengganu has beautiful landscapes especially its beaches, natural lagoons and beautiful islands. Kuala Terengganu city is a small city compared to Kuantan city and Kota Bahru city
in the East Coast. Kuala Terengganu has also islands surrounding the city. About nasi dagang, you can eat it for breakfast,
lunch and dinner like nasi lemak but not nasi kerabu. You have to find out the good keropok lekor

Err I wouldn't say Kuala Terengganu is one of the most beautiful city (one of the most beautiful district true), parts of the city yes but wholly, I have to be transparent, it doesn't really have much to offer. Different story to the islands in Terengganu, this I can totally say one of the most pictuce perfect places to be ✌️ this is just my two cents of thought for living here a couple dozen of years

The appetizer you mentioned is call keropok lekor goreng (fried). There is steam version of it too. And you are in Terengganu the place with the best keropok in the whole of Malaysia! Of course it tastes amazing! Please go explore more on keropok lekor you will be amaze by it! They often sell at the roadside some still traditionally made with hands and some with machines. I'm from Kuantan and my mum use to buy a whole big load of them to bring back home from there. We prefer steam as it is healthier. Can get addicted once use to the taste.. Can even end up eating steam keropok for lunch.
Another keropok is the thin type that fries to crispy. You can find them there too. Do try them!
Nasi dagang famous in Terengganu too.. Glad u love it!

I never like nasi dagang. But it is me thing that don't like fish curry in general, something that regularly be eaten with nasi dagang.
Keropok lekor is a fish chip (and a little bit like fish cake). It is signature thing for Terengganu and I like it. Generally people like it as deep fried, a thin one can be crispy compare to what you ate. I would love the boiled version, it is a bit hard to find as not much love the strong fishy taste from it.
Teh tarik madu (milk tea with honey), it is too sweet for my tongue too, but who did not like teh tarik?

Gigi you just use your fork to push your food onto the spoon sideways..much easier than scooping the rice using the fork onto the spoon. Keropok lekor originates from Trengganu. You should go to a factory that processes keropok lekor and see how they make them. Ask your friend the Ganu girls from America i think their dad should know where.

Nasi Dagang Atas Tol is very commercialized and super well known 😁 welp there are many places in Terengganu serve super delicious nasi dagang, the locals would know where and till what time it'd be available ✌️this is how nasi dagang should be, the gravy/kuah shouldn't be yellow ish and it doesn't come with sambal lada/belacan or such. And yea keropok lekor goreng/rebus, you can't really get the fresh original texture and taste outside Terengganu 😎
