Best way to get trash trucks fires out rapidly with less water and manpower is to have the trash truck operator push the trash out while they are moving forward to spread out the trash! It's way easier to put out that way and reduces costs for repair as well! Reduces water waste and trash waste runoff and the extra work on the FF's. The trash is going to need to be picked up after spread out anyways!Former Fire Chief!
Dumping the load on to the ground was actually a smart move because its easier for the firefighters to put out the fire that way. Because they can atack the fire from all sides while the garbage is on the ground and they can spred out the load on the ground too making it even easier to put out the fire. Plus the heat from the fire heat up the sidewalls and the roof on the garbage truck since metal attract heat. That's why the firefighters sprayed the garbage truck with water to cool down the truck from the heat caused by the fire even after the garbage was dumped on to the ground.
I agree with @Ben Roe…aren’t drivers instructed to dump the load in a safe place at the first sign of fire? Save the truck if possible. Better to make a mess and pay the cost of cleanup than to have the truck destroyed. And why didn’t the FF’s immediately instruct the driver to dump his load instead of wasting time and water spraying the OUTSIDE of the truck?
@@quinnbeagle5136 just an FYI you never cool cng tanks on trucks. There pressure relief is temperature activated. By cooling the tanks you keep the pressure valvles closed. Then it goes boom.

I have compassion for the person answering the phones at city hall that day. Can you imagine all the complaints from the public about this??? People lose it when the burger joint forgets the pickles on their burger. Imagine how they'll act seeing a garbage truck on fire in front of their house!!!
Curious why they kept hosing down the truck long after it quit steaming? I don't think it was ever on fire. It got hot, for sure but there were more lines devoted to that than the burning garbage. I've seen several videos now where they keep spraying water on the outside an never through an access panel or never dump the trash. It's a lot easier to clean up the trash than clean up a truck that burned to the ground. I understand they are CNG, but they weren't cooling the tanks just the outside of the back.
im thinking the grill tank they pulled out might have been the cause on this one when compacting the load tank becomes compromised and one little spark as once they put the fire out which seemed to be in the area they removed the tank from

Not any of the truck mechanics, but the trash itself... That probably means it will all be dumped onto the pavement, doused, and poked through until it's cold out... Then comes a roll-off container and a front end loader shovel to clean it up... Always a mess!
i'm willing to bet that propane tank was the cause what idiot throw them out with household trash when you can drop them at any place that does the exchange even if your not getting a new tank

Exactly! These firefighters are putting themselves and general public in great danger! Look up Los Angeles truck explosion and see the consequences of cooling CNG tanks.

Not as bad as ur attitude does 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 just kidding
I agree Chief. Front end loaders can pick that up when it's all done!

He should have dumped it ASAP before running off, that's what they teach us to do.
Exactly, good man 👍
That's why you should never put batteries in the trash....
The neighbours got a special treat that day.
Well at least the outside of the truck will be clean 🤣🤣
That redefines the term " a hot mess"...
Can't imagine how bad that smelled
like burning rubber
Like god’s farts after a kebab.

natural gas tanks needed to be cooled i think as priority
You clearly would not dump in a street without emergency services on scene. Load could meet oxygen then erupt.

Thank goodness it was only trash that burned in the back of the truck. The good thing at least your truck got washed for free
We are trained to always dump it first before pulling the truck away if, if safe to do so.
That priest must have given a hot sermon
At least the inside garbage trucking a good scrub wash getting cleaned out.
The Squad Truck was an interesting add-on.

there must be sensors in the box to let the driver know if there is a problem in the box
I wonder if lithium batteries cause a lot of these truck fires
Hell yes.

The clean up will be ap big job but glapd the fire is out 😮
Good efficient operation. Good video
Well that's one way of doing it.

Well that's one way to get a free truck wash . lol
Thats a mess I would hate to clean...trash truck drivers are one of a kind

Why cool the tanks... That is a FD NO NO... Can you tell me your thought process!?!

Propane tanks are supposed to be recycled not thrown into the trash
I wonder how they clean everything up after having to dump it all out due to a fire emergency in the back of the garage truck
Watch the video then.
Pretty simple. If the trash is on the ground, call a container, maybe two, a wheel loader and then load it into the containers.
Wow I'm surprised I didn't think about that

Stop putting batteries in trash cans
Dont know what they want to Extinguish on the Top of the Truck
