  • In 1973 British castaways Maurice and Maralyn spent 117 Days Adrift on a liferaft and a dinghy
But they never felt alone. Many animals followed their liferaft and became their best friends. They also provided them with the food they needed to survive.
The story of Maurice and Maralyn Bailey was a classic for sea lovers in the 70´s and 80´s. But over time their adventure was forgotten.
Sadly, Maurice has passed away a few months ago. But fortunately we had spent some time with him and he shared his beautiful memories with us.
We wanted to make a tribute to Maurice’s life, and Maralyn’s too, who passed away in 2002. We thought now was a good moment to share this little known tale.
They were a very unique couple whose way of living was ahead of their times.

Ok, I read this book and it was heartfelt and beautiful and raw. It was a difficult survival story. It was not all hearts and dolphins and narwhals. So I don't get this video. I also have to admit, this book affected me strongly, and is still one of my all time favorite survival stories. And that is saying a lot, I am a huge reader. I just love the simple, conversational tone of the author, the way you are brought in as if you are there with the Baileys. I loved how humble and kind hearted they are, and their love for nature and the animals.
And no, I did not click dislike. I like the book too much to do that. And I would LOVE to see it made into a movie.

It seems Maurice minimized the bad memories of his old adventure as we humans use to do when time passes. Maybe that's why he focus now on the beautiful part. You may like to watch this full interview that could probably help you understand ua-cam.com/video/Q3pi-HrNIuA/v-deo.html

As an actress I would love to play Maralyn. She was my mum's midwife when she was expecting me. My mum bought me the book. I would love to be involved if this became a feature film. Great trailer. This story could be used to teach children. I'm a lifeguard and I think I might incorporate it into my water safety classes.
