Just listened to the Against The Odds podcast featuring their story. I do hope he had people there for him at the end so he wasnt truly alone in this world as the interviewer pointed out to him
@@jaydee6361. Hi there jaydee. I, like the others here, listened to the podcast Against the Odds, too. Producers are “Wondery”, look for their title with ATO, if you have a podcast site you use or look them up for their app. It is Season 35. Wondery have very good shows.
Maurice and Maralyn are heroes of mine. I have their book, and live aboard a wooden boat with my family. This Doc brought a tear to my eye - thanks so much for making and sharing this.
I read their book when I was maybe 10 years old and felt captivated by their story. Still remember them catching the flying fish and the pain when they had to kill the green turtles just to survive. I'm 50 now and first time ever I've seen the couple of that beautiful survival story. Rest in peace, Maralyn and Maurice. Thank you for sharing that part of your life and also for Mr Cerezo for this beautiful video.
Its so nice to find people that already knew them! We also loved the book since we were young. This old tale was just like a beautiful fable. Alvaro Cerezo always wanted to meet Maralyn but sadly she died in 2002. At least we could get Maurice to tell the story before he left.
I read this also when I was young, and my 10 year old lad read it too. In tears at the end of this. So sad he was lonely. Who wants to bet there are two happy whales out there.
Such an inspired story this,. Wanna see that world ..very interesting to listen..keep listening this beautiful story ...one of beautiful film narration it is...in future any one can do a film..love from India.. 🇮🇳
Sadly, Maurice passed away recently. So we wanted to do a tribute for his and Maralyn's life. We have created for them a website where you can find the FULL STORY thebaileys.docastaway.com/
Recently read the book for the third time. The fist time I read it I was probably 12 years old and since then the book has always been with me. Too sad Maurice had no family left in the end. Rest in peace. Thank you for making this tribute!
A beautiful new book has been written about them, their lives and their experience. It's called "Maurice and Maralyn" by Sophie Elmhirst. It really helps to understand their lives and their relationship (/love story) in a way that Maurice himself would struggle to convey in his books. It's also very eloquent on his later life. Highly recommend
Beautiful documentary story. I read the book about 1995 after inheriting the penguin book from my grandfather. I’m going to recommend this video to all my English students as the pictures and images are perfect for picking up new vocabulary and it’s so interesting of course, and perfect length for them too. The subtitles are good too apart from occasional blunder.
They were really lucky not having found a "curious" big shark instead of whale or also a good sea-storm or squall ... He said they don't believe in God , but what if simply a longer time at sea that did not allow the material of the raft to resist any longer, and then I want to see if a prayer of impetration or terror did not come out of him/them..
Yes ,It would be 10 times more powerful without the sopy music.I think americans or someone invented this propaganda crap, like we are stupid beings and we have to be lead towards compassion with that music.I hate that fake crap!
@@ivanjeremija9180 my thoughts, the messed up part is it does work, but you can distinguish after a while if the emotion is a result of the music or content
This fool didnt believe in god, i wish someone would show him testimonies of near-death experiencers. He would never say he is lonely. At least he is with her tigether again. God is great.
It's too sad the old fellow couldn't see the Love of GOD in HIS creation. And then, obviously he did but just gave GOD a name the rest of us can't understand. 🙂
Rest in peace Maurice & Maralyn. You are both wonderful.

Same I just listened. Such an amazing story.
He did indeed die alone though, very sad. It’s too bad she died almost 20 years before him
Same
Is that podcast on UA-cam to listen to it?

What a humble man he was. Many would probably despise the experience or be mad. Not Maurice, he felt blessed by it all. Just amazing.
Thanks for Watching Carlos :)
Name of the book
Wow that was beautiful

As an actress I would love to play Maralyn. She was my mum's midwife when mum was expecting me. My mum bought me the book.
oh thats amazing :) :) :)
Love your videos ! Please keep up the great work my friend. And hope you and your family are doing well in times like today's...
Thanks Erik! :) We are glad to hear you like them :) We are spending the pandemia on remote desert islands :)

Amazing, I love this channel
😍
That man was carrying a LOT of trauma in this interview, you can see and hear it.
Wonder if David Attenborough read this story?
Amazing

Glad to know that :) Yes. Maurice talked in such a beautiful English. He looked like a movie actor. Thanks Blanca :) :) :)
That’s a shame he didn’t have children. I bet he’d have been a great dad:)
good content!
Thanks :)

Can't wait for a Tarzan vid
Soon will be released :)
Would be a better interview without the depressing piano music.

why ruin this with the crappy music, great video though
Maybe you are right with the music. Thanks :)

No issues with the music, and there's no need to try and please everyone.
Yeah. Just your voices are enough. Maybe a whale song but not that sappy backtrack all American movies must have. Beautiful doc otherwise. Thank you!

So sad. I bet he believed in God now….too late. 🔥
What a horrible comment. Judge not lest ye be judged. You will find out, also far too late what good all your sanctimonious behavior will get you.
You're a cruel woman Elizabeth Hill of Tulsa Oklahoma. You'd think as a nurse you'd have more of a caring heart.
