That ship went right into the main support beam
don't know why the don't have anti collision deflectors at the beams.
the insurance company though....
My husband and I have been watching the news on her phone
Wow the entire bridge just collapsed 😮
Incompetence
God, please help the folks in Baltimore. They really need you right now. Amen. 🙏🏼
at 5:40 did she say 11.5 Million vehicles use that bridge a day? That can't be right surely.
Thousands and thousands of people do cross that bridge every day for work and home but I don't think it's Millions
Probably just on-air nerves led to her misspeaking. To get that many in one day, there would have to be an average of about 8000 people over it every single minute of the day. If we assume 1.5 people per vehicle, 55 mph, 4 lanes, 8600 ft span, demand doubling at busy hours, each car would have to be about 3-4 inches long for the math to work out. According to wikipedia, it's 11.5 million vehicles per year which seems much more reasonable. That would be an average of about 4 cars per lane per minute or about 30 cars on the bridge at any given minute.
That is yearly total, about 31,000 vehicles a day. Francis Scott key bridge was crucial to traveling in Baltimore.
It doesn't look like the ship would fit under the bridge anyway.
Dozens of cargo ships come and go everyday under that bridge, the bridge was almost 50 years old, has never been struck. Incompetent people caused this.
@@NickyB0718 Perhaps I'm right then ?
@@chrisbodum3621no. The bridge was high enough. We don't know why the ship struck a pillar. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
@@chrisbodum3621I was thinking the same, the ship is way too big, it would never have made it under that bridge.
@@NickyB0718 couple videos show the power going out on the boat.
The cargo ship looks too big to get thru under the bridge !!
It wasn't going under it was turning. that's what happens when you park a bus in a compact car parking space
@@davidpotts3844
If it so, the ship must be too close to the bridge when it made a turn 🤔🤔
@@suzyquatro6470They claim lost power and no controls , just so happened to be on a direct course to take out bridge
Praying for all involved.
Wow! Scary as hell .
Synergy owns this container ship. Hope you have no stock in this company.
I hope you know they do the big wind farms here in upstate New York just outside of Rochester and there's a couple of wind farms right here near the GANA nuclear power plant
Terrifying, my worst nightmare comes true
At least now, Baltimore will have a new and better bridge
In the videos that show more footage (before contact), you can see that all power went out on the ship 2 times, and there was smoke coming from somewhere onboard.
I don't believe it was intentional, terror attack, or operator fault (not under the influence or distracted).
I am looking forward to learning more details as the morning progresses.
Exactly! Thank you. It’s so shameful how people, most likely Trump supporters, are trying to spread lies already.
Looks deliberate. How can you hit a bridge in a shipping lane with all the technology on board.
Yep, that ship was way too big to make it under that bridge.
the power on the ship went out and they lost control we don't know why the power went out yet but, you can see smoke billowing out of the ship, perhaps an electrical fire...
@@MsFlow99 The smoke is the engine exhaust, they may have tried max power to avoid the collision.
Or full throttle@@S-North
@MsFlow99 that doesn't add up. A ship that big has at least 4 big diesel engines.
They all quit?
The shipping company is responsible for this not the taxpayers. The shipping company needs to pay to fix it.
Poorly designed bridge. Collapsed like a pack of cards.
Looks like a scene out of a video game 😦🥺
"Hey, welcome back to Let's Game It Out, I'm Josh and today we're playing Cargo Ship Simulator 2024! Thanks to the developers for sending a key." Chaos ensues.
that's all it took to make the whole bridge collapse, was a huge ship but I'm surprised
Hope not planned
That was my first thought.
Someone is in trouble the ship didn't have enough clearance to go under.
Jesus Jesus Jesus🙏🙏🙏🙏
No safety beacons. No safety lights. Completely dark. Avoidable.
Who owned the cargo ship?
It was from Singapore.
Which is soo ironic bc I live in Baltimore and I’m in school about to do a business report on Singapore 😟
Dezz nuts
Who owns and operates this ship?
Dezz nuts
Who is the captain and was it an attach? Let’s figure that out first with all the tech to drive these ships it seems a little crazy for this to occur now a days
Ships do not like bridges.
This seems very intentional. To cripple this area
Why
We know the effect. What was the cause? Wind, rain, flood?
Add if nobody knows synergy deals with electric power here in upstate New York in Rochester New York to be exact
They keep talking about the road but the port is shut down now I'm guessing also. as for some comments Yes the ship would fit. cargo cannot be stacked high enough to block the ships bridge and you can see the bridge (its not lit up) and the ship when in so yes it can get out. It had power when it hit the bridge but maybe lost control. You can see the power go out when the bow light hits the bridge and then a puff of smoke from something. Lets just wait and see the facts
Baltimore is really a terrible city. 😢 So sad for all the victims of this tragedy
I use to live in the DMV and youre correct not as bad as FL.
@@youngstacker0493 idk I was very unsafe in Baltimore, and Florida is a huge state it's hard to compare a state to a city
No, Baltimore is a whole different bad.@@youngstacker0493
Good side...at least it wasn't carrying crude oil!
*that ships insurance company is toast.....
Now the Bridge looks like the rest of Balto
Omg
atlast they going to a new bridge.
The toll is free today
The ship is from Singapore and they are not a US ally. "Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong stated that Singapore is not an ally of the U.S."
How do we know that it was intentional?
That's what you say when you don't want China to throw a fit.
True I suspected the same thing when I heard the cargo ship is from Singapore. Singapore is close to China. It is really fishy guys.
If Singapore is not a US Ally then why did I see RSAF Airmen and their jets train at Nellis AFB during Exercise Red Flag?
Mothman is back!!
The pilot was playing TIC-TOC!
SKYWAY 1980
SUMMET VENTURE STILL GOES IN 2024
UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME AND COMPANY
Wtf?
Jesus did it!
It's amazing what happens when you don't fund infrastructure. Oh wait. Not all that surprising. That bridge probably had a C- or worse rating given its age and general lack of upkeep of bridges across the U.S. Well, they get to rebuild it now. Hopefully we have some competent engineers left in the United States who can still build bridges. Sad to hear about the loss of life of 20-ish souls. We can be grateful that it happened at 1:30 am and not during bumper-to-bumper rush hour traffic. A properly designed/built bridge in this scenario should only have a partial collapse, not a full collapse. So Baltimore and Maryland are partly at fault for not bringing the bridge up to a modern design spec instead of wasting money.
no harbor masters to guide ships in this harbor?...especially captains that are not familiar with the harbor
They have pilots to get them out of the area
Is it true that the captain was from Ukraine? :))))
Just like Final Destination movie 😨
Doesn’t look like any car on the bridge right before the collapse.
Literally "Breaking news"
Not easy to be good looking steerman an get rit of the bridge.........
Nope. That was intentional. You don't just aim and hit a beam. Even if power were lost the ship would remain on course. This was on purpouse
Allahu Akbar
cheese and rice what the heck how did this actually happen they didnt radio and say they had failure on the way in
This is sabotage!
Нормально :)
Смешное видео, мосты говно в США
It was the ISIS -Special break news from the Russia -They came dressed as a Singapore cargo ship-Houthis in disguise !
Your mother was steering the ship
