I love the look of brass on timber it’s such a classic look nice hinges too thanks for showing how you set them up it makes it just that bit easier
No one will see a mistake on the top rail... Except my Mother in law. She's never made a thing in her life, but she judges my craftsmanship like a judge at a dog show.
😂
The same but my own mom 😂
next time she gripes, you might need to yell WOOF (and then maybe pee on her leg)
Glad we could partner with you on this one, Marc. A true masterclass.
I called the company this morning to spend some of my money and all I got was VM saying we’ll call you in day or 2!! I’ll spend my money somewhere else 👎
man, the accuracy , you make it look easy, but I've learned to watch a video is not the same as to try it in my shop ... lol . Great video.
ONce again, Spag to the rescue. Thanks for making this so much clearer!
I was a little intimidated by this type of hinge, but thanks to your video, I'm more confident and can't wait to use it. Thank you
Thanks Mark I used Bruso hinges for a Franklin Chair I just finished. You’re right on about the quality!
Fragile, must be Italian. Thanks for being so informative yet so darn entertaining.
Thanks for watching!
Ditto; accuracy + wit = subscription
Thanks for the instructions. They always intimidated me. Now I will try them out. I have a set from over 10 years.
Perfect timing. I'm making a jewelry box and these Brusso HW (knobs) maybe just what the doctor ordered! thank you.
That hardware looks legit. Definitely checking them out. Thanks.
Very nice option looking super sweet
Another excellent video, you could always set the clutch on the drill so it won't strip out.
For years I have often f..... up my projekt using the wrong playing cards. Now I know, Thanks Marc
Great video , we only use brusso for our builds. They make a great product.
Much appreciated!
Beautiful work, as usual.
Fantastic, Marc! 😃
Thanks for all the tips!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Absolutely gorgeous.
Awesome work Marc, thanks for the info! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Great video Marc, I love Brusso hardware too but I wish they had 2 steel screws. I pre drilled and used the steel screw but by the time you get close to the last couple of holes the screw head snapped off ….. a much bigger problem. And before any trolls say it yes I did wax the screw threads.
Really? Did you have the proper size pilot hole too? Takes a lot to snap off a steel screw head.
@@woodwhisperer yes it was the correct vix bit and I only used a hand held screwdriver 🪛 so from then on I save the steel screws for every set of hinges I buy after a while the Philips head starts to strip out then I chuck it out. Don’t get me wrong I love their products .
Brusso hardware is the best
I like you vise fill blocks, what width did you find useful?
Love Brusso Hardware
OMG a Cosby joke with Mortimer. Made me laugh out loud not kidding.
The first time I used them I had to install both halves and assemble the cabinet with the hinges in place because I had an overhang top and bottom that blocked the second screw on the door half. The cabinet looks good but it can never have the door removed. The lesson is to do a test before building.
Happy Father's Day!
You going to do a review with pro's and con's on the cordless router vs corded?
Great tutorial, I plan to use these soon. Thanks
Hi, nice informative video. Do you mark your knife lines with pencil for the benefit of filming or for your benefit?
Great video lots of good techniques. To fix your blooper getting it centered on camera just film it centered and take the pieces out of frame and reverse it in post. Much easier than trying to bring something into frame. 60 percent of the time it works every time.
I thought this is trivial but I'll watch anyway. I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have done it as accurately.
Definitely a metric person here. Your calculations made me go crosseyed 😂
Good stuff! Love that Brasso hardware. Expensive but there is a big drop off in quality with any other manufacturer. I have found that the cardboard backing to most notepads are either 1/32 or 1/16 inch so I save them to use as shims. They work great.
Horton Brasses is a another great hardware company and has been compairable in quailty with everything i've use so far and they are cheaper to which is nice.
Does it matter which type of knife hinge you use depending on type of door ie overlay or insert?
I had no ides these existed, but I am only a watcher and not a maker. cool vid
Win, win! Good stuff!
I needed to see this! Thanks!
can you tell me how large a door these hinges will support?
Great video, Marc is so talented, but for me, this just confirmed I should just stick with euro cup hinges and a Kreg jig.
Yes, yes, everybody tells you how to install knife hinges, but who’s covering fork hinges?!? That’s what the world needs!😏
Huge fan of back to the future movies and I love seeing the goldie Wilson poster and the outoftime plate in your videos. I have a back to the future 2 poster that is on something between foam and cardboard backing. Also, the image is reversed unlike the "commercial" ones plus its shows only the car and at the bottom it has November 1989 that's also reversed. I got it from a former owner of the Saint Louis cardinals when I worked on one of his houses in NC. The guy I work with got a poster that was signed by Robert zemekis and another producer and a pinball machine of back to the future. I told him when he dies I'm taking both of those. Lol.
Where can I buy one of those marking knives
Damn, this is so complicated I will need to rewind the video a thousand times! 🤣 PhD in Woodworking coming! 😎
Nice workbench! :-)
Hey Marc. I hadn't seen this type of hinge before, so thanks for the video. Question for you - did I miss a video that you posted prior to this one? In the last one I saw, you were dismantling your shop to get ready to move, and you were looking at properties. However, it looks like you've already got the shop ready to go at a new place.
Check out the last few videos. I explain everything.
@@woodwhisperer Will do. Thank you.
You mentioned that if you have your frame glued up already you can still do this but with all chisel work. But looking at the assembly, it looks like you have to have it done and the door installed on the hinges as part of the glue up. Is that accurate or it possible to attach/remove the doors after glue?
Yeah the doors are only there at this point for reference. The final install is done after assembly and finishing.
@@woodwhisperer So how it the install possible with the tight clearances between the top and bottom rails? Will the door open out enough to install the screw closest to the hinge pivot?
Thanks

Très bonne vidéo explicative 👍👨🦽💨
Dang - a set of those hinges runs nearly $100. That’s for some serious fine furniture!
Just wondering. When marking the sides of the hinge, instead of lining up the hinge and drawing a line, couldn't you just use the marking gauge, by flipping it around, since the distance should be the same? Or is that because if it isn't exactly 9/16, you'll be more acurate?
Or if your workpiece isn't exactly 3/4 then it could be slightly off as well.
Marc, I cannot find that marking knife in your amazon shop - what knife is it?
The marking knife isn't on Amazon. It's a Blue Spruce model.
@@woodwhisperer I'll go looking there then! Thanks
How do you remove the door after the installation if you need for any reason?
🎶Picture Pages, Picture Pages 🎶 The Whisperer knows picture pages, time grab a marker and a white board🎶🎶… Picture Pages, Picture Pages 🎶 sharpen up the marking knife it’s time to join The Spags and do a Picture Page, with you!! 🎶🎶
groovy
Was that a little tribute to Perry Saturn at the end? Shoutout to the OSW boys
I don't know who that is, so....no? lol
@@woodwhisperer haha right on, loved the video anyway. It’s a very obscure reference to a wrestling podcast
Now I know who was responsible for all that woodworking on the bridge of NCC 1701D!
Yes, on my way to the bathroom i asked myself.... 9/16 ....... from what is he talking? Greetings from Germany. The Metric-Centre :-)
i have a question... what are those measurements in metric? just asking here, cause im a metrics guy, like most parts of the world
First!
another great way is to use your Shaper Origin! but not everyone has a $2600 portable CNC. lol (I have one and find it very useful!)
Metric people here... its really not fine 😂
Picture pages, picture pages, time to get your picture pages...
What’s 9/16’ in mm? 🤣
🇺🇸
Approximately 14 mm.
let the metric system free you!!
Mostly hidden?...
what happened to el saxofonista?
Okay but what the heck was all those weird math things on the whiteboard there?
I see you put your shop back together. JK.
Yeah, I changed my mind. :)
With only 1/32" gap would the doors start binding if you forget your heating bill?
