Fitting Knife Hinges to a Cabinet

- In my mind, knife hinges top butt hinges by a mile in cabinet construction. Fitting them is a breeze once you know how, but there isn't much info on UA-cam and so I'm sharing my proven method.

I love woodworking and this channel is the best!
Cheers!
I enjoyed that one, Mitch! Merry Christmas!
Cheers! Merry Christmas to you too
Nice video, Mitch.
Great explained and shown.
Your whiskey cabinet looks great!
Have a nice weekend and a peaceful pre-Christmas season.
Thanks Günter, and seasons greetings to you too
Thank you Mitch
Thanks, Mitch. I've been looking for a tutorial for a good while.
That's great, makes it all worthwhile
Neat way of hinging the door.
Great job Mitch.👍😉
Cheers Ken, I nearly forgot that I recorded this material, and only stumbled upon it while searching for a photograph on the had 😂
Thank you for posting this, Mitch. Is it possible to make end of hinge flush with end of door?
You can do that Rusty, but bear in mind the pivot point will have shifted. That will mean you'll need a larger gap between the door and the carcass, or you'll need to relieve the door edge, so that it can rotate without binding. It may also restrict access to the inside of the cupboard - in the cabinet i was building here, it would have prevented the drawer from opening (or being installed in the first place)
A lovely piece of furniture Mitch. I daren't have a whisky cabinet, I'm scared the missus will lock it!
Cheers Martin. I tell my wife it's a tool cabinet, and she leaves well alone
Where I can find that hinges, I love them
SDS London has them for about £8.50.
Brusso do them too, if cost isn't a concern, but many ironmongery suppliers will have something, and most can be improved with minimal sweat, files and abrasive paper.
Nice work Mitch! Is the Makita (13:42) a DHP453?
Cheers. It's actually a BHP453, but I do have a DHP453 😉
@@mitchwoodwork I have a DHP453, that's why I thought this :-)
Cheers!
I like it a lot, but at the moment my thumbs make changing function and torque very painful.
Seasons greetings
@@mitchwoodwork Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
