Hiya Rob Silicon ... nothing will stick to it, not even silicon. So, when re-caulking with the stuff, you'd best use, after the cutting away, a silicon-remover. @@BitsOutTheBackFarm Yes I saw the trips down the back. Maybe you can net the cane toad eggs out too before they hatch as well as trapping the others. Bit of drama here 12 sheep have been killed around here so far.. Seems to be a wolf someone got trail cam shots but they are waiting for DNA from the sheep. Yes we have Wolves but not in the area we live normally well ever as far as I know.. When I say around here the end of the road we live on. Sue told me I went naa its a dog more chance of it being aliens. If its a wolf I will eat my hat..Now looking for the best ways to cook a hat.. Cheers.
Beautiful monitor lizard. Shit about the termites and rodents. Huge problem with animal feed if the floor is not meshed/concreted. Does your dog go after all of the animals? Scary with the 2 nd intruder. What does your neighbour think? Is your place fenced? Sounds enormous.
Jack is really mellow when it comes to the wallabies, birds, frogs, toads & the one python we had on the deck. He did get bitten by a red belly snake so I don't think he's fond of snakes any more.😉😉He also took off after a goanna the other day & wouldn't come when called so I think we have some work to do there. Had another pest guy out to inspect the barrier trench & he gave the house an all clear with the termites so we're happy about that. We have just over 165 acres all up. 👍The front of the property is fenced into paddocks as is the boundary with the neighbour as he runs cattle out the back. We hope to be as well but more down the front at this point. Cheers IN & Have a top one.
I love the blue color. I think that it goes very well with the other colors. Things are starting to freshen up real fast. Sorry to hear about the termite damage though, hopefully it is not too bad. I hope that you can leave the tadpoles alone. They need the big numbers to be able to survive as a species. Most of them will get eaten anyway. So as a food source for other animals they will also help other animal species to survive. The tadpoles also prevent large outbreaks of mosquito's because they will eat the mosquito larvae. I have my concerns because I hear that Brazil is suffering from an unbelievable intense heat, with ambient temperatures that feel like 58 degrees Celsius. If that amount of increase in intensity also happens to Australia the wildlife can use every bit of food that is available for them for as long as possible. Amphibians have to suffer a lot, if not the most, from climate change. And when the tadpoles and the frogs are gone that will cause an effect all the way up the food chain. Maybe that is also why those lizards are around. They might be waiting for the tadpoles to grow bigger. Basically removing the tadpoles would be the same as removing all the worms from your soil, or at least in my perception. I am not telling you what to do, I am just throwing a pitch for nature. I mean, my arguments make sense right? 😊👍
The cane toads are an introduced species that got out of control. They were supposed to eat the sugar cane beetle but went feral killing native wildlife instead. They have badly impacted native frog numbers as they lay so many eggs in huge strings in one go.
Bloody Rude how they left the place, hope Karma gets them. I'd go wider with silicon, bit of dish liq on finger to smooth out. That's a very small kitchen sink, I'd use that out back/shed, get a bigger one. Lizards are prob eating the eggs. Plenty of info online re taddies & toads.
B used soapy water but only showed a glimpse in the video I think. I think B want's a dish washer so that size "should" do for now. Might change our minds later. the goannas are definitely polishing off the eggs. They cleared out over a dozed from a communal guinea fowl nest we were keeping an eye on. Have toad id & trap designs all sorted thanks, just need to build them now. Cheers again.
Great idea, unfortunately the tadpoles are toxic as well. Not sure on the affects and the toxicity of the small one but I know the larger one will kill fish.

We are planning to look for area's coming spring. Great to see you guys getting there ;o)
Cheers !
@@boterberg278 I've seen a number of permaculture based collectives spring up in Portugal. At least on UA-cam. Not sure what they would be like in real life.
Shame about the termite damage its looking good though. Good luck thatching the G fowl and tadpoles. I wonder if the tadpole trap is the same as a minnow trap? Will have to wait ans see. Love to have a look around out back 2K wow.
Hey Davey. Haven't tried to catch either as of yet. Still surrounded by boxes & been busy catching up with other work. B has a few ideas for fowl traps & I have a feeling that the toad issue will be an ongoing issue.. 😢
You've probably seen the trips around the place mate but just in case 😉ua-cam.com/play/PLxbQdTD7hhOFji-T1GYplPjX6zd9swbnS.html
BTW, I didn't pick up the detector I saw for sale in the op shop (I think I told you about them). Will be heading back down again soon & will see if it's still there.
Hope you & yours have a fantastic Chrissy mate.
Cheers.
@@SouthpawDavey 🤣🤣 With lots of garlic & some ginger I suspect.
great looking monitor but its not a lacey, looks like a sand monitor.
Yep. 👍 I need a decent id book methinks.
Cheers & have a top on.
Cheers IN & Have a top one.
looking at the thumbnail before watching the video. i understand painting the termites. but why are you painting visitors lol
🤣Comers look so messy in thumbnails🤣
Why are you painting the termites and the visitors?
🤣 Cause we can. 😉😁😁
Hope you're having a top day mate.
Here in the Netherlands all the amphibian species are on the list of protected animals.
The cane toads are an introduced species that got out of control. They were supposed to eat the sugar cane beetle but went feral killing native wildlife instead. They have badly impacted native frog numbers as they lay so many eggs in huge strings in one go.
We do have LOADS of green tree frogs & some others that we're yet to identify. They sing a wonderful chorus every night as soon as the sun sets. 😁
@@BitsOutTheBackFarm Aaah I understand. An invasive species is another story 👍
👍👍
👍👍
Bloody Rude how they left the place, hope Karma gets them. I'd go wider with silicon, bit of dish liq on finger to smooth out. That's a very small kitchen sink, I'd use that out back/shed, get a bigger one.
Lizards are prob eating the eggs.
Plenty of info online re taddies & toads.
P.S. I use WD40 & non-scratch scourer for rusty chrome
@@Lana_Warwick Thanks for the tip I will give it go too😁
B used soapy water but only showed a glimpse in the video I think.
Cheers again.
i would just put in some fish in that damn so the cane toad population is controlled
Great idea, unfortunately the tadpoles are toxic as well. Not sure on the affects and the toxicity of the small one but I know the larger one will kill fish.
Good idea but while the shags regular the dam, they’d be throwing away $$
There's already fish in there we think. The trap will be going in once we "milk" some adult toads to bait it.
come on you're not called "the outback" for nothing. yes, yes yes on the tour or safari in your outback. it's a great idea.
You've probably seen it already but here's a link to the playlist it's in HCC, ua-cam.com/play/PLxbQdTD7hhOFji-T1GYplPjX6zd9swbnS.html
Hope all's well with you.
@@BitsOutTheBackFarm yes, i have seen it and wish i was there to help you explore.
