G'Day folks, Just a quick tip on your bat box's, take the front off the box and either rough up the inside back of the box pr staple some fly wire, or similar, inside the box so that the bats have something to grip onto as they rest.... Looks like you have been pretty busy with the rest of the area...keep up the great work.

We're looking into the netting now Kerry as we will need it for the small sections we want to run them in around the house paddock.

When I was doing my zoology degree at UNE, we set up a couple of audio recorders on campus in amongst the trees and then analysed the recordings. It was amazing the number of different species of bat we were able to identify from their calls, especially when you consider we didn't see or hear a single one. Those recorders were amazing.

Hi Rob, thanks for the goat disease info, i suspect a lot can be avoided by having lots of different plants bushes, mixed herbs, rosemary and thyme , ribwort, comfrey, borage, sage, apple trees and fruit blackberry ? , dandelion, thistle, etc, and garden veg like humans eat, to browse on, not just grass, grass, grass. not saying its foolproof, but worth a try.

Hi guys, thanks for the videos. I look forward to them every weekend. We’ve got a block at Chatsworth just outside Gympie, and we have a bit of Rats Tail, which I’ve been trying to control by cutting off seed heads and spraying with a bit of roundup. I’ve also been spelling paddocks to see if the other grasses will out compete the rats tail. I’m interested in your comments regarding the producer around Bundy and his advice on controlling rats tail grass. Would you mind sharing, or doing a video about it please. Keep the great vids coming, we luv them.

Hi Jason and Monica. We won't be doing a video for a while on our methods as we're just not set up for it as of yet.
He uses spot spray method at the moment but is now thinking about using the wick wiper unit that the local council have to loan out. We learned about it & other services that offer at the workshop. Gympie may have some similar services so might be worth checking out.
With the wipe method you slash the paddock first & the GRT will generally grow back faster & taller than other grasses. When it's tall enough you run the wick-wipe over the top & only the taller GRT will get treated.
      Hope that helps some folks.

@@BitsOutTheBackFarm Percy Island is off the cost of QLD, near Mackay. Back in the 1800s maritime vessels dumped a load of goats there and they've been breeading and evolving into own goat breed since. Percy Island goats are perfect for the Aussie climate, and although on the small side, a great all rounder for meat, dairy, or pelts. When you mentioned QGoats I immediately thought of the Percy's, as they're trying to save this heritage breed from being wiped out. Have a good one!

Not sure, anyway, they woukd be for milk and meat, not wool. Their wool naturally sheds and is not good quality. Anyway, thanks for sharing , i always look forward to your updates.
