  • Eric Verdin, Buck University, USA, presents at the 2020 Aging Research and Drug Discovery conference.
About the Aging Research and Drug Discovery meeting:
According to the United Nations, the proportion of people aged over 65 now outnumber children younger than 5. The enormous growth in the elderly population is posing a socioeconomic challenge to societies worldwide, and necessitates new sweeping interventions for age-associated diseases. Thanks. Excellent talk. And not skewed towards a sales pitch for a supplement. Seems that gut barrier function plays a huge role in health, CD38 and NAD+ being just one aspect. Eating whole foods with plenty of fiber will help a lot. Ref. Talks by Erica Sonnenburg PhD of Stanford on gut microbiome.

Agreed - good science focus - and it is nice to see the "Hallmarks of Aging" with a needed follow-on structure - instead of the rather abiguous circle of aging. Am checking out the science behind considering NR / NMN supplements. Cheers!

Disagree. Talks referenced by Drs Paul Mason and Zoe Harcombe show there is data showing fiber can worsen symptoms. It appears its only needed on a SAD style of diet. Grains are not digested fully in humans and create chronic inflammation as a modern diet eats them multiple times a day. What foods have increased in the last 100 years of human life? Grains and processed seed oils and other highly inflammatory polyunsaturated oils that oxidize quickly due to their weak double bonds. Do your diligence and read both sides of all debates. A well formulated ketogenic diet avoids soy, corn and wheat and both processed oils and high polyunsaturated oils all due to their highly inflammatory nature. Eat only when hungry principle (and tyen eating nutrient dense foods encourages periods of fasting as hunger becomes rare and less frequent, which enforces the sirtuin and mitochondrial pathways, increases autophagy to clean out cells and repurpose proteins. It increases utilization of both fts and sugars once the mitochondria have better function. Ease of symptoms of chronic inflammation. Eat whole foods yes, but things in a refrigerator. Meat, whole milk cheese, eggs, low starch veggies, low sugar fruit, and cream. This video not only is about aging, but reversing chronic inflammation that causes most diseases today and that's pretty exciting! Especially since the ketogenic diet plays into the pathways. Know wonder big pharma has slandering campaigns to stop what's in their way of funding their ludicrous lifestyles and world domination...this is the world we live in!! Wake up!

@@dana102083 Keto diet is associated with increased mortality. Whole grains are not inflammatory rather TMAO from animal proteins are.

Very interesting to see it is attacks on pathogens like LPSs using up the cd38. Prebiotics and getting rid of refined carbs and lectins is probably the best way to handle this, aside from slamming as much nmn as you can afford.

Not a good speaker, no pharma is presented. Many other youtube videos discuss actual supplements

Many people want to avoid supplements too and just eat a low inflammation diet to abstain from damage.
