Welcome back! I don’t know you (yet, maybe someday), but you sound like a really great, super nice person. The whole world feels brighter when one more person comes to the church! I’m glad you’re here again!
Yes it should. We lived premortally, we came to earth, we are dark chocolate, we die, we go to spirit world, get resurrected, eat more dark chocolate, and finally get judged and eat more dark chocolate in the Celestial Kingdom
Regarding being a mother: We must also remember that The Savior Himself declared: "Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother". Saints don't need to be bloodrelated to be brothers, sisters or mothers, rather it's both a temporal AND a spiritual title
About "You'll never be truly fulfilled as a woman if you aren't a mother" - it's a important to understand that for some women, nurturing (as a mother or otherwise) isn't a natural gift and isn't where they find fulfillment. There are plenty of different skills and ways to feel fulfilled
@@vannessmorris700 I agree....it can be hard to cope with initially....cuz you have members who are 3 to 5 generations in the faith. I go to family ward since I don't want the distractions of a ysa
So grateful you guys mentioned the fifth point about being a mother! (And I think it should be applied to fatherhood too) My husband and I are in our 40’s, unable to have children. We are childless not by choice and it has been devastating to accept. It’s especially hard when going to church that we are the only childless couple and it’s honestly we left the church many months ago, a year after our baptisms. Now, we are considering returning to the fold but it’s with great hesitation because of this issue.
This is 3 years later, but I sure hope you came back! I could never understand the pain you are going through, but I hope these few things can give you some comfort to know. 1. If you enter the Celestial Kingdom and receive exaltation along with your husband, you can have an eternal family of children in heaven. 2. I have no idea what your life choices are, but adoption is also an option! Members of the Church are able to be sealed to adoptive children (if they wish to be sealed to you). May you have peace through our Father's holy spirit. God bless you.

I struggled with the sentence "The LDS church is THE true church". I took it as a way to say that LDS church (and the doctrines) is the only one to be true or to preach the true things. Now that I will be baptized in a few months, that I am going to church every week and that I have weekly meetings with the missionaries, I know that people are open-minded. But for me, the problem is more about education and life experience.

Disney nerd ramble: Bambi is a gorgeous movie. It’s pretty underrated. It’s also one of the few movies that had a mother in it. Yeah it still doesn’t escape the disney “dead parent” trap but still, Bambi’s relationship with his mom is one of the best things about that for majority of the movie. Also the score is great. (the theme for “man” actually inspired the JAWS theme btw)
Bambi IS underrated ! I read how Richard Williams, noted animator (eg Who Framed Roger Rabbit) in his younger animating days went to see Bambi, thinking oh, it's just a routine cartoon - he says he practically crawled out of the cinema on his hands and knees !
"We are grateful, for the priesthood for preforming the sacrament." Or "We need to make sure we go to the homes of those single sister's without priesthood in their homes." There are too many of these still being thrown around.
Agency sounds like what other religions call “free will.” Calvinists on the other hand say that humankind lost free will when Adam ate the fruit, leaving the race enslaved to sin and needing a Redeemer. (I don’t hold that view.)
This totally changed my day. Thank you so much for talking about these things! This "culture" thing that a lot of members have experienced up close and passively needs to stop! At the same time, it is important to remember, among other things, that Al Carraway has talked about a lot. It's not a Mormon thing, but a human thing. Huge fan from Norway cheering on you! 🙌🏼🇳🇴
Stop saying the following: 1. Being inactive is your own fault. You just need to work on your testimony. 2. You are responsible for any faith crises you are experiencing. 3. You are inactive just because you want to sin. 4. Oh you'll find someone to marry eventually. If that doesn't work out you can marry in the afterlife. 5. Stop gaslighting. 6. Don't blame everything on "anti-mormon" literature. 7. Sometimes what you think is "anti" is actually the truth on the church website. 8. I got a burning in the bosom. It sounds like you got a case of heartburn. 9. Sweet, sweet spirit. 10. "Brigham Young said a man not married by age 25 is a menace to society." 11. "I wouldn't be sad if you never had children. But I would be sad for you." 12. All a single adult woman needs in a prospective husband is for him to have a temple recommend. 13. So when are you newlyweds going to have children? 14. It's nice for you to show up for a change at church. 15. I haven't seen you at church for many months. Since you're back again I guess that means you broke up with the girlfriend. 16. It's about time you came back to church. 17. Give me a hug and you'll be holding the priesthood. 18. Bless your heart. 19. You know the Star Trek TNG series was all about the LDS church. 20. You know the Star Wars film trilogy was all about the church.
Video should’ve been called things that UTAH Mormons should stop saying. Regular members wouldn’t dream of saying this stuff. They’re a separate breed.
It is a hurtful statement when people say the church is perfect but the people are not. It feels like a way to excuse the bad behavior of church members such as gossip, slander, judging, and just general unkindness. We aren't perfect but we should be striving to be. Many people leave the church because of how church members have treated them. If we claim to be disciples of Jesus then we can and should be better than this.
I agree i strive to be christ like to all i meet even if they treat me bad i still try to act how Jesus did. I try to realize we are all children of god so i try to be understanding.
Ay, dios mio they are not lost for eternity. Please get the idea out of your head that you and your family are doomed to separation after death because of religious preference. When you die you die. Enjoy the family and time you have on Earth NOW. You cant control other people’s beliefs. Did you ever think the family member is happier and thriving outside of the church? Ever asked them why? Expand your knowledge.
@@sarahtreadway4285 not much of a chance according to president Kimble. "I remember an article in a local newspaper, telling of a young couple married in Salt Lake by a man who had only civil authority-no power beyond the grave. They had a brilliant wedding breakfast. They got into the car to travel to another city for an evening wedding reception, where hundreds of friends and relatives would come to wish them well. They did not reach their destination. There was no reception. A car accident took their lives. Their mortality was ended. An eternal life had not been provided for. About three hours of marriage, and the end of it came like a flash of lightning. And the sad thing was that their three-hour marriage was performed within a mile of the holy Temple, where a man with the sealing power would gladly have saved them from the bitter cup. They’re in eternity now. I don’t know what they’re thinking or what they’re doing, but they’re not prepared for eternity. They had grown to twenty years or more of life and they didn’t go to the temple, even though they were members of the Church. They ignored it. They left it. If they ever gave a serious thought, do you suppose they were saying, “Oh, we can have the sealing ordinance performed later”? Do you suppose the bereaved family was thinking, “Well, it’s too bad; but then, we can go to the temple in a year and have the work done for them”? Yes, the family can go to the temple a year later. Yes, they can do the ordinance work for them. And the records will show it. But the question is, Will the young deceased couple accept the ordinances when they were of such little consequence to them while they lived? And more important than all else, do you think that God is going to be mocked?"
"If you love them enough it shouldn't matter if they come back" - Except for knowing they're not going to be there with you in the Celestial, that they're going to prevent their spouse from being there in the Celestial, that their family line probably wont be raised in the church meaning your cousins / nieces / nephews and a branch of your family may be separated from the church. It is certainly a big deal... But you wont get anywhere with ostracizing or isolating. And debatably they're rejecting Christ and may be at greater risk. Though personally I think that's reserved for if you have a complete knowledge and refuse him in the afterlife. Even Judas might not be doomed with that logic.
Then you don't even know what the Celestial kingdom is. The lack of understanding, or perhaps even the care to learn, I'm sure couldn't possibly contribute to being inactive. Ironically I'm probably considered inactive as well, since I attend like once a month and a half ever since my ward's schedule changed to a 9AM meeting and generally have been socially awkward my whole life, not for a lack of faith or understanding. Just an inability to handle social settings that I'm working on improving plus a millennial sleep schedule where I don't even wake up until 9.30-10.30 most days so 9AM church isn't easy.
You forget the mellenium. A thousand years without temptation or desire to sin. God will reign over the earth. And what's so bad about being righteous?
It'll be awesome to be in Heaven and somewhere over there will be the Mormon Celestial area and I'll get to "Awesome, I'm glad they are here too." Unless the Celestial and Heaven are the same and Christians and LDS memebers will be/are hanging out together.
Members should STOP using the name and word: Mormon, except to reference the ancient prophet Mormon and the record he compiled. All members are Saints, forget about what Catholics think.
The "though" or "but" sentences aren't really a Mormon thing to say because of how pervasive it is and I think the reason for it being a problem is that it comes across as insincere because as soon they start with "I love them ..." you can only feel the inpatients to interrupt them and say but before they do because all this is doing is beating around the bush. The love part isn't the point of the sentence, it the critique so it almost rude to put the fake pad on the front of it.
I think the “I love them but” can be perfectly fine depending on the situation. I have a cousin who was trying to date my friend and when she talked to me about it I told her that he is family and I love him to death but dating him would be a mistake because my friend is a total sweetheart and my cousin just wants sex
Madelyn Burgener I think they were talking about a more general sense, like just giving back-handed compliments, rather than your experience where someone might’ve needed your input since you had a different perspective on your cousin.
Doesn’t president Nelson talk about how gods love is conditional? He has a talk on this subject and from recent conference. How do you rationalize that with what you’re preaching here about conditional love? Seems like your “opinions” contradict the prophet....maybe I misunderstand?
Jack Reacher than you miss the whole point of love. What if Jesus said that about you? Oh I love him but not enough to die for him. Oh I love him but if he does this I’m not going to love him. The Bible says love your wife as the lord loves the church. Which means FORGIVENESS is the key to marriage. Would it be hard? absolutely. Would it take work? Definitely. But that’s how God designed it.
@@Dayna_not_dana loved your response, Dayna. Adding to that, forgiveness also doesn't necessarily mean 'trust.' And it doesn't mean one has to stay in a toxic relationship. Also, throwing Jack a bone here, there are different kinds of love. Romantic love and Christ-like love are very different.
My girlfriend cheated on me and it hurt but i tried to give her other chances and she kept cheating on me, I forgive her and still care about her but im glad i didnt marry her.
Can’t take my eyes of David’s long, skinny, gorgeous fingers as he talks and waves them around...can a person be mesmerized by someone’s fingers? Reminds me of Francis Chan’s beautiful hands. You gotta check out his hands! Oh, I’ve never heard any members say these things, by the way. I’m a convert.
I know this is a year old, but ya'll are teaching things that are in stark contrast to teachings of past prophets. Being a mom and a wife is the very reason women were created and they cannot have a fulness of joy without being these things. Do I agree with those teachings? No. Are what you all are saying here a much healthier, more loving attitude? Yes. But it's not backed up by church teachings.
As a convert I feel it says we believe Joseph Smith was ordained by God as a prophet to open this last dispensation and restore the church of Jesus Christ upon the earth. Just a few weeks ago I was walking down the road and heard someone outside preaching to a crowd and one of the things he said was that the Mormon church was made by a man and not by God. To me this statement that I believe the church is true is a declaration of the truth that God has ordained the establishment of the church, also in D&C God himself said "this is the only true and living church in which I am well pleased". That's why at first having so many friends from other churches hearing people say ours is the only true church used to bother me, but as my testimony grew I realized it's not supposed to be said in ridicule or critically of other churches, but sometimes the ones saying it use that not in the spirit it was originally meant.
Scott Robinson Mormons don’t have traditional faith. They don’t know how to have it. They only have “I know” mentality, which doesn’t require any faith.
@@SomethingLocalall I know is I grew up Baptist and started practicing witchcraft, later my life was in danger and I asked God for help, He actually told me to go to a certain place and when I listened I met the missionaries, I started talking to them and attending church and within a month I quit cussing drinking using tobacco smoking pot and using opiates and in another month I quit using meth and got baptized, and I'm happier serving Jesus now and being off drugs, after not being able to get off opiates using Suboxone methadone and any other thing I tried for ten years I know the church is true no matter what mistakes the early leaders may have made in their life
Scott Robinson right somehow you know so you don’t need to have faith in god in your opinion. Kwaku nails it. The big secret of Mormonism, is that God is a man.

Bernie Mac said "It's Not What You Do It Is How You Do It, It Is Not What You Say But How You Say It" Why should it matter if they come back to the "Church" right . . . I mean GOD will just give them a do over when they get to heaven correct? Hebrews 9 - 27 KJV "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment":
"We are grateful, for the priesthood for preforming the sacrament."
Or
"We need to make sure we go to the homes of those single sister's without priesthood in their homes."
There are too many of these still being thrown around.
Great topics, great energy, please notice how often you say "like". It's cringworthy!
Bambi: "Mother? Motheeeerrrr!!!"

I'm a lurker. What is "agency" in Mormonspeak?
We believe that agency is the ability and privilege God gives us to choose and to act for ourselves.
“Unfortunately she seems to have a problem with red wine, BLESS HER HEART!”
Bless her liver.
Could you do an episode on love in families being a bargaining chip? What it looks like, how to help, etc.
I don’t know understand why these people need to say the word “like...” so many times especially the guy on the left in the green jacket 🤦♀️
Stop saying the following:
10. "Brigham Young said a man not married by age 25 is a menace to society."
11. "I wouldn't be sad if you never had children. But I would be sad for you."
Do members really say these things...?
Must be just the ones in Utah
Must be just the one's in Utah
I'm sure it varies based on a number of factors. If they don't say them near you, awesome! There's hope haha.
Yeah, I've only heard #1, and it wasn't used in the way they used it in the video.
Where is kwaku
Video should’ve been called things that UTAH Mormons should stop saying. Regular members wouldn’t dream of saying this stuff. They’re a separate breed.
I'm a Utah mormon, never heard any of them.
I'm so happy that I am reading the Book of..... finish my sentence please.
Some of the comments where hard to hear.
When you said dark chocolate, I stopped the video and went to the kitchen to get two dark chocolate Hershey's Kisses. Eating them now. Thanks!
But how can you be happy knowing a family member has left the church and dies before ever coming back? Lost for eternity?
There's a chance for them to be taught and improve in the afterlife. It's okay to feel sad, but hope is not lost.
Who Knows I’m an inactive member who can’t imagine anything worse than the CK. Nothing but self-righteous LDS and no one else. YIKES! 😱
@@supercalifragic1551 It's all about mastering self. Jesus did our Fathers will. You can do it ❤🧡💛💚💜💙
Members should STOP using the name and word: Mormon, except to reference the ancient prophet Mormon and the record he compiled.
Just to clarify, Bambi definitely is sad and you might cry
Love is conditional. I love my wife but of she cheated on me I wouldn't love her any
Jack Reacher than you miss the whole point of love.
Awesomeness 💙💜💚💛🧡❤
Only in Utah members say those things😂
I know this is a year old, but ya'll are teaching things that are in stark contrast to teachings of past prophets. Being a mom and a wife is the very reason women were created and they cannot have a fulness of joy without being these things. Do I agree with those teachings? No. Are what you all are saying here a much healthier, more loving attitude? Yes. But it's not backed up by church teachings.
maybe
to other members
this is the true church
only true church"
i mean, how would u like to be told this
People should just look at themselves instead of being judgmental and have thoughts on others - humans are not learning through the ages huh!
This seems like a lot of p.c. accommodation .
This whole think was a bad idea. Do you not see the irony in almost every critique of others critiques?
They should stop saying church is true. What does that even mean???????
@@scottrobinson9334 Than say that. That is the testimony. Saying church is true means nothing. It's like saying church exists.
Who are these silly children?
Members should stop saying the church is true cause your lying. Thou shall not lie......
It's true, do...
