This was the episode that comvinced me to love this show. I've really liked all the others, but this one was just a peak balance of fun, adventure, and high stakes. They really got me with Wim's "hero moment" too.
This show really is just a fantastic way to spend the holidays and this episode was the perfect thing to get on Christmas Eve! It's definitely my favourite as well and I'm just impressed at how this show keeps surprising me. I hope Cthallops comes back somehow because that was a peak character reveal and moment😂

What a romp this show is . I am calling it now the thing that got Jod was Wim saying Not my mom. He's a Jedi offspring . Also no face on that pirate video I'm calling it it's Hondo's ancestor. Happy New year Loving this show.
Good call! So the hinted Jedi Nina Na Nawood is likely his mom then? And he got some rudimentary "bokken" training from her, we've mainly seen him use basic telekinesis-like stuff, he hasn't used any higher-tier abilities so far (?) despite the fact that they would've come in very handy...
if you noticed, the little waiter creature that the Hutt ate said...."oh no, not again", which means one of 2 outcomes, he's either been swallowed before, probably by the Hutt and been unpalatable (imagine being uneatable by a Hutt), so spit up, or he survived the Hutt's digestive tract, therefore making his kind the toughest species in the universe also, seeing the Hutt in the mud bath (and it looks like one of Jabba's relatives) reminds me of the Hutt's controlled worlds in Hutt Space from Legends, I would love to see a movie or show where characters have to survive and escape one of the Hutt worlds, their slave mines or slave markets, their safari planets where they hunt species or the secret worlds they keep only for themselves
Probably a bad time to say this after this cliffhanger, but I'm guessing that after Jod does his heel-face turn at the end of the season and helps save the kids, the season will end with Jod returning to Lanupa and telling Cthallops how the story ends, and Cthallops will be able to sense that he's finally telling the truth.
Nah, that chrystal will stay blue. Jod doesn't give off Dark Side vibes. I'm hoping for a redemption arch. The lightsabre can remind him of the time that he was still a good person. I am convinced he was Jedi trained. A padiwan perhaps, at least a youngling, that had to survive after Order 66 and that made him a selfish, ruthless pirate.
A planet that's a mint, needs precious metals, so someone has to dig that metal out of the rocks. A Hondo statue throne. The pirate man in the hat in the log reminded me of Dave Filoni. Grotto is a short cave containing statues and relicts used by worshippers. Hand to hand combat involves two people who combatants, one or both have weapons, I don't think it applies to taking a hostage of an unarmed person.
Starting to wonder if Jod never had formal training but during his life as a pirate he discovered a lost Jedi holocron and picked up a few basic bits of knowledge about using the Force.
My 2 cents on this episode are: - lightsaber stays blue. I see Jod more around a grey Jedi ( someone doing things because he doesn't know otherwise or it was the only way to survive ) 2. The supervisor goes by the name of Snoke - to-be-leader of the first order.
I think Jod likely never finished his training so he will not call himself a Jedi. I think he either lost his master or his parents due to the Empire and grew up on his own, having to figure out the force himself and with his limited education.
Ohh i have been waiting for this reaction ahhhhh I have been loving every episode so far but episode 5 is by far my favorite there was so many layers to this episode of what it means to be Star Wars, the fights the running the fun and side comments, the intrigue and so so much more this is my childhood right here and it was so much fun. Great reaction guys.
guys thisepisode isa BIG DEAL for eu fans! the harpist is the first canon depiction of a female Codru Ji!!! when i saw it i was like aaahhhh no way! and i run to my bookshelf to check the essential guide to alien speciesbook and yes!!!!!
Jod is likely a padawan that escaped by throwing in with pirates to survive. I dont believe he would hurt the kids, but Fern would defy him, just to counter whatever he said. Dont forget, she is a smart but incredibly inexperienced child. Would YOU want to try to survive under her leadership? Jod made the right call.
I'm pretty sure every time he uses the force he has his gloves on. I think he uses some sort of technology to fool people. He uses it super casual for someone who should have been hiding from the empire after order 66. Gotta see more, but I don't know if he's actually tapping into the force, but I'm not ruling it out. Love the content guys.
TLDR: My theory, Jod could be former youngling Petro It’s a Long shot theory, especially since the show runners insisted on the show not having any deep cameos; but, could it be possible that Jod is the former youngling Petro? The young Jedi from “The Gathering” arc from Clone Wars? Order 66 likely happen before he became an official padawan, and he had a semi connection to pirates already by way of Hondo and crew. Not to mention he was a bit mischievous in nature.
I waited all week, for kyle and bendu's reaction.I said, their was Jedi and sith artifacts.Snd was proven right, with the high Republic light saber.I belive jod is a grey Jedi.He was reading, the sith text on the spa.And muns, hutts .and the light saber, was double bladed.I'm glad i subscribee to the channel this year I have had so, much fun.Hanging with kyle, bendu and all of you this year.
16:44 Scipio is the home planet of the Banking Clan, as seen in the Clone Wars, so is canon not just Legends. The guard was basically saying, you're not a Munn so you're obviously an imposter.
3:20 I wouldn't be surprised if there are some mad scientists picking up animals and Rocket Racooning them. Tipping my hat to an 80's classic "There were other animals in cages. They were put through the most unspeakable tortures to satisfy some scientific curiosity." -Nicodemas, The Secret of NIHM
Dude it's obviously going to be blue. Thinking otherwise is SUCH a reach. He's not evil or a darksider and if you've come to the conclusion that he is, I question what show you've been watching
Kelly MacDonald as Pokkit...no wonder I instantly loved the character, I am such a fan of the actress!!! Give me a heist team up of Fennec and Pokkit and I will be a very happy man!!! ♥
Jod is 100% an Order 66 survivor, probably happened when he was the same age as the kids. In his own way he's trying to harden them to the realities of the galaxy. He also massacred his old crew. Not all of them, but enough.
This was such a fun barmy little episode. And seeing Betsy Kettleman in it too, still as greedy as ever was fantastic! The eclectic cast of characters really fleshes out the design of the show nicely too. And though I'm not a big fan of Jude Law, I'm liking his character more and more, as he begins to show his true colours. I hope kids are enjoyiing this as much as this middle aged fan, who is as old as Star Wars itself, is!
You don't bleed Kybers just by holding it. He needs to actually channel the dark side to corrupt it. And Jod isn't going through the sort of intense pain and anger that Vader or that Jedi: Survivor guy were feeling when they bled their crystals. At least not in this moment.
Realized after watching your reaction and you talking about brinks armored trucks the pirate says in his log that "has the ship all clad in armor and ready" as in they might be trying to ACT like a pick up vehicle and maybe they got shot down
I was thinking the same thing, he always has that glove on the hand he uses "the force" with. The only thing we're not sure was metal was the light switch, because we didn't see it.
@Rob_Himself83 key , ducting as a distraction, switch, tablet , stopping the golden sceptre , lightsaber Think it is either purely magnetic or magnetic/ frequency based
@Rob_Himself83 they are really trying to get us to speculate on his back story if he is force sensitive or not, but that may have a payoff it might be both he maybe using tech but is also force sensitive or a old padwan or maybe the son of an escaped jedi or raised by one. Maybe he is just a fan boy. A boy that grew up with stories of the jedi like whim
This was by far the best episode of the season. I love the mystery surrounding Jod. I truly hope they don't have him be full Jedi, ideally, a Kyle Katarn thing would be awesome. Nonetheless, great show!
He's just Long john Silver. He is going to go after the treasure, and I'm guessing do a turn to good thing at the end to help then. And wouldn't be surprised if he reverts to his pirate ways by the end and is left in the Star Wars equivalent of a sinking lifeboat with the treasure.
I feel like Jod isn’t a bad guy and will have a change of heart again! He was an Order 66 kid which is why he talks to the kids like they’re his peers. Something in the next few episodes will show Jods Star Wars Redemption!
I get the feeling Jod was identified at some point but was deemed too old to begin the training. Enough for him to cobble together some tricks but no powers. He was probably the same age as the kids
Battletech (the tabletop and book series that the Mechwarrior video games derive from) had a major (I mean MAJOR) event in their ongoing storyline spanning decades centered on intentionally hidden worlds operating at efficiencies and tech currently lost or very rare by the rest of the galaxy at large. So I do wonder if these hidden worlds are intended to give more backstory to sequel events. Or having learned their lesson with Palpatine and the sequels in general are setting up events that have yet to be seen even beyond the sequels.
Lightsabers don't automatically change colors... it's a blue crystal and Jod would have to bleed the lightsaber to turn it red, come-on Bindu you should know this by now.
@KyleKatarn, 26:36 Do you think things are as they seem with Jod? I don't think so. Wim wanted an adventure (9:07), and I believe Jod is giving it to him (21:31). We can assume that Jod is around the same age as Jude Law, right? Jude's 51 years old. This story takes place five years after ROTJ, and ROTJ takes place 23 years after Order 66. Jod is old enough to have grown up on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple. That is where he would have been raised being Force sensitive and all--he would have been 23 years old back then, which is about the age Obi-Wan was in TPM, which if I'm not mistaken, the age Anakin was at during Order 66. Jod could have been a padawan like Obi-Wan was in TPM, but at a time of war, he was most likely graduate to Jedi Knight like Anakin and a general like Ahsoka and Kanan. In any case, I think he was 100% a Jedi. Why would they play the Force theme back in episode two when Jod got the key? Why does he continue to do things that keeps the children safe, and fed (he fed them on their ship). Why does he keep dropping nuggets of Jedi knowledge? Jedi is Jod's old life, a life he's been running away from for nearly three decades. He had given up on the galaxy, and he said as much when talking to Wim--he called the galaxy "rotten." Is he wrong? From the Core to the Outter Rim, people in the galaxy are looking out for themselves, and we can see that in someone like Uncle Owen way back in ANH. Everything the Jedi fought to protect vanished, and the vast majority of the galaxy went along with it. To make things worse, the very people the Jedi once protected turned on them, sold them out to the Empire for a few credits. Wim must have been a breath of fresh air, an ember in the vast darkness to Jod. He told us that he was "lost" and "alone" in episode three when leaving Khy'mm's place. Wim is the only person in the galaxy still speaking highly of Jedi. Sure, he's grown up in a bubble, but to him, the Jedi are still out their doing their good work, being heroes. Wim reminds Jod of a time long gone, and I think that's why Jod has become the person we know him to be in this series. Wim and the other children have been nursing Jod back to the person he used to be. He's betrayed everyone he's run into except these children. He has been honest with them, and I think he still is now. I believe he did what he did because Fern continues to second guess his motives and SM-33 keeps looking to his captain for the okay before doing what Jod asks--that won't do in moments when every second counts! If Jod wanted to ditch the kids or kill them, he could have done so many times already--he knew how to turn of SM-33, so why didn't he keep him turned off? Why didn't he leave them at the pirate's port? Why did he buy their freedom? Jod isn't a bad guy, not to them. The children are in danger, and Jod needs to Jedi up. I can't wait for the next episode, things are going to get real good real quick. I can feel it. PS: Is it just me or is Jod's connection to the Force getting stronger? His usage was janky when we saw him pull the key towards him, but look at him now. We can hear the pull of the Force in this episode, which is something we haven't heard before now.
The Skeleton Crew Starship kinda makes the fan favorite Millennium Falcon Starship look like its aged more gracefully since the way the Skeleton Crew starship’s rustic dusty landing ironically make that titular skeleton crew ship itself look like what Luke and Rey would’ve called that like how they used to call the Millennium Falcon in the trilogies after all those years ago, a Real Bucket of Bolts and a truly old Garbage Ship 11:54🤣⏰🚀.
I agree... not all force users have to be jedi or sith... there were many born with force powers who did not get chosen to train in the jedi academy... this has been shown in Old republic trailers for the MMO... and I think there will be way more interesting stories to tell by making normal people have force powers... If you had force powers and train yourself to use it... you may be proficient enough to use it to push, pull and float things around...
This may be way out in left field, but what if Jod is a Jedi sentinel? What if all the fake names are different cover he’s had to use to stay hidden and collect intelligence and now he certainly can’t reveal his Jedi association? So he’s been a Jedi spy all along, like a deep cover Jedi and he’s not betraying the kids for treasure but he realizes there’s something they don’t know and he’s actually trying to keep them safe without blowing his cover?
Good call on the Lost comp. We are given what’s and eventually how’s, but not the real answers of why’s. Curious if we wrap at least the main mystery here. If this is intended to be related to the sequels it could be a while (if ever) to be wrapped up.
I don't really think the show will go down the Acolyte's way with this lightsaber. If anything, assuming it changes color, I'd imagine they might explore some new kind of color for a non-Jedi/non-Sith Force sensitive. Like, maybe the kyber cristal in the saber has a high sensitivity of its own that in turn adjusts the blade color according to the saber's wielder, like a mood ring? And maybe that's what actually made this saber so unique to be considered treasure, otherwise there would've been a small collection of sabers, I imagine. Great episode, just like the rest of this series so far. Loved your reaction, guys! 😎😎
I think Jod was a youngling force user who still follows the pirate life but when someone else threatens the kids, I think he’ll do his one act of kindness. So, I think his saber will always be blue. Some of the things that’ll come back I predict, is the school roof gun and the ship self destruct. I’m still not sure if the Supervisor is a droid or Rennod. Maybe the banking guild will come into play.
I definitely noticed the gloves Jod was wearing in this episode were very prominent. Have we seen him use the Force without them? I can't remember. We probably have, and I think he is a Force user anyway, but I guess they could still be doing some funky tech thing there. It'll be interesting to see if they have him do a face turn by the end. He clearly didn't want to hurt the kids and was relieved he didn't have to, but I don't think it was a bluff. He would have if it came down to it.
A reminder that the director of the Goonies was Richard Donner, which spelled backwards would be Rennod. Probably not a coincidence.

This was the episode that comvinced me to love this show. I've really liked all the others, but this one was just a peak balance of fun, adventure, and high stakes. They really got me with Wim's "hero moment" too.
Rewatching after Christmas 🎉🎄 Thanks again Guys 🤘
This show really is just a fantastic way to spend the holidays and this episode was the perfect thing to get on Christmas Eve! It's definitely my favourite as well and I'm just impressed at how this show keeps surprising me. I hope Cthallops comes back somehow because that was a peak character reveal and moment😂
Everyone knows the force.
To truly wield it, takes patience, training, and willpower.
The actress who played Pockitt voiced Merida in the movie Brave, for anyone wondering why that Scottish accent might sound familiar.
One of his lightsabers powered off😂😂😂
Love your guys reactions and insights. I'm loving this show it's simply a lot of fun. Glad the fandom, for the most part, is enjoying this show. Perfect holiday season Star Wars. Cheers brothers!
Great vid best friends!
Thanks to Kyle, Bendu and Nerd Chronic! ✨💀✨ All hail *Kelly* *Macdonald* for portraying 'Pokkit'. I first noticed her beauty/talent in TRAINSPOTTING (1996). 🔸 Additional kudos for *Patrick* *Seitz* who has a hefty voice-acting resume since the 1990s. I hope we see/hear more from him as 'Cthallops'.
And he got some rudimentary "bokken" training from her, we've mainly seen him use basic telekinesis-like stuff, he hasn't used any higher-tier abilities so far (?) despite the fact that they would've come in very handy...
if you noticed, the little waiter creature that the Hutt ate said...."oh no, not again", which means one of 2 outcomes, he's either been swallowed before, probably by the Hutt and been unpalatable (imagine being uneatable by a Hutt), so spit up, or he survived the Hutt's digestive tract, therefore making his kind the toughest species in the universe
also, seeing the Hutt in the mud bath (and it looks like one of Jabba's relatives) reminds me of the Hutt's controlled worlds in Hutt Space from Legends, I would love to see a movie or show where characters have to survive and escape one of the Hutt worlds, their slave mines or slave markets, their safari planets where they hunt species or the secret worlds they keep only for themselves
Another option is, that the Hutt uses him as a loofah to get to those hard to reach places, or as a toothbrush.
Their hotel reminds me more of Clovis's apartment on skipio in the clone wars
He better not just be another padawan or Jedi. I'm so over that. Hopefully the writers have the courage to do something new and interesting.
Welcome and thank you for all your awesome Star Wars reactions Star Wars rules
I think Jod, did what he did to help save the kids. This way he doesn't have fern blocking him. He is also a padwan that survived order 66.
The fact you noted he was holding the lights aver upside down (no one else caught real time), keeps you the S.W. "O.G."
Great review as always
A planet that's a mint, needs precious metals, so someone has to dig that metal out of the rocks. A Hondo statue throne. The pirate man in the hat in the log reminded me of Dave Filoni. Grotto is a short cave containing statues and relicts used by worshippers. Hand to hand combat involves two people who combatants, one or both have weapons, I don't think it applies to taking a hostage of an unarmed person.
The second half of this episode was very Indiana Joens coded. Which I guess makes sense since both franchises are owned by Lucasfilm.
Starting to wonder if Jod never had formal training but during his life as a pirate he discovered a lost Jedi holocron and picked up a few basic bits of knowledge about using the Force.
My 2 cents on this episode are:
- lightsaber stays blue. I see Jod more around a grey Jedi ( someone doing things because he doesn't know otherwise or it was the only way to survive )
2. The supervisor goes by the name of Snoke - to-be-leader of the first order.
Bury snoke deep into the ground, man. 😂😂😂 We don't want him back.
Bendu! Calm down bust friend! The color of the lightsaber is blue. Aye-eee!
TLDR: My theory, Jod could be former youngling Petro
It’s a
Long shot theory, especially since the show runners insisted on the show not having any deep cameos; but, could it be
possible that Jod is the former youngling Petro?
I think the kids might reach out to the owl lady in the next episode for help
16:44 Scipio is the home planet of the Banking Clan, as seen in the Clone Wars, so is canon not just Legends. The guard was basically saying, you're not a Munn so you're obviously an imposter.
He said, “no, not again.” Which means if it happened before it before…? 😳 To quote Kino Loy, “One way out!”
3:20 I wouldn't be surprised if there are some mad scientists picking up animals and Rocket Racooning them. Tipping my hat to an 80's classic
"There were other animals in cages. They were put through the most unspeakable tortures to satisfy some scientific curiosity." -Nicodemas, The Secret of NIHM
Festive season greetings to my two favorite star wars reaction bro's 🎉
The ship’s name was dropped with the Lego release a few weeks ago.
🥂🎉 Happy NewYears! 🖖🏿🥰🐰
I still think it's possible Jod took over the captaincy and meant to imprison the kids to keep them safe now that Brutus has tracked them down.
It's only episode 5. My prediction - in ep 8 we'll find out that Jod is an undercover Jedi and total good guy
Dude it's obviously going to be blue. Thinking otherwise is SUCH a reach. He's not evil or a darksider and if you've come to the conclusion that he is, I question what show you've been watching
Merry Christmas!!! 🎁
God I hope they do that predictable boring story AGAIN.
Writer need to have the courage to find fresh ideas.
Happy Holidays!
Well that escalated quickly.
Not only was a Hutt, but also I believe it was one of the two hutts of the Book of Boba Fett
Yeah maybe.
Kelly McDonald made for a great looking bounty hunter! Hope we get to see her again and maybe see her fight a bit.
Jod is like Set Harth he has his own way
You don't bleed Kybers just by holding it. He needs to actually channel the dark side to corrupt it. And Jod isn't going through the sort of intense pain and anger that Vader or that Jedi: Survivor guy were feeling when they bled their crystals. At least not in this moment.
Realized after watching your reaction and you talking about brinks armored trucks the pirate says in his log that "has the ship all clad in armor and ready" as in they might be trying to ACT like a pick up vehicle and maybe they got shot down
Jod is the equivalent of Broomstick kid at the end of Last Jedi he has the force he just doesn't use it all the time.
Its always metal and he always has gloves you guys 😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing, he always has that glove on the hand he uses "the force" with. The only thing we're not sure was metal was the light switch, because we didn't see it.
@Rob_Himself83 key , ducting as a distraction, switch, tablet , stopping the golden sceptre , lightsaber
Think it is either purely magnetic or magnetic/ frequency based
@Rob_Himself83 they are really trying to get us to speculate on his back story if he is force sensitive or not, but that may have a payoff it might be both he maybe using tech but is also force sensitive or a old padwan or maybe the son of an escaped jedi or raised by one.
And this leads into Brcye Dallas Howards episode next week. Shoukd be real interesting to see what that brings.
They’re going to make Jod Obi-Wan’s little brother lol
Jodi-Wan Kenobi lol.
No, the Jedi would've taken him and Obi-Wan would've still know him were that the case.
Has Jod gone all bad? I'm not convinced. Does he wan the treasure? Probably, but he held the back side of his knife to Fern's neck; it was a bluff.
16:40 Skipio is also in one clone wars season 6 arc about the money
I get the feeling Jod was identified at some point but was deemed too old to begin the training. Enough for him to cobble together some tricks but no powers. He was probably the same age as the kids
Pokkit is definitely an Umbaran
Oo! Interesting thought!
@ just compare her and Sly moore, same shii
Battletech (the tabletop and book series that the Mechwarrior video games derive from) had a major (I mean MAJOR) event in their ongoing storyline spanning decades centered on intentionally hidden worlds operating at efficiencies and tech currently lost or very rare by the rest of the galaxy at large. So I do wonder if these hidden worlds are intended to give more backstory to sequel events. Or having learned their lesson with Palpatine and the sequels in general are setting up events that have yet to be seen even beyond the sequels.
I think the supervisor is the pirate captain Who disappeared.
Best episode so far
Lightsabers don't automatically change colors... it's a blue crystal and Jod would have to bleed the lightsaber to turn it red, come-on Bindu you should know this by now.
When you try to make your lightsaber unique but just make it confusing which end is the emitter.
"what has the acolyte told us" ... LOL
@KyleKatarn,
26:36 Do you think things are as they seem with Jod?
Jod's quote is from his family. He's the nephew of Quigon Jinn.
It's a blue blade wot lol
Wow! Everyone is giving Jod the benefit of the doubt. I wonder why that is?
I definitely noticed the gloves Jod was wearing in this episode were very prominent. Have we seen him use the Force without them? I can't remember. We probably have, and I think he is a Force user anyway, but I guess they could still be doing some funky tech thing there. It'll be interesting to see if they have him do a face turn by the end. He clearly didn't want to hurt the kids and was relieved he didn't have to, but I don't think it was a bluff. He would have if it came down to it.
