I've been watching Zidane since 1997. I've yet to see a midfielder play with such elegance and control combined with a strength and tenacity that made Zidane the best midfielder who could do it all at a world class level. Football was different back then as well. Zizou is still above any midfielder I've ever seen.
I was born in 93. My first memory of football was him In 98. Don’t remember anything but the bald patch.. the kit.. and the way people WATCHED him play on the pitch. People would be marking people but looking at him that was when I knew this guy is a guy to watch. 2006 was crazy but he still was 9/10 in that game and still scored personally the most disgusting penalty I have ever seen 😂 so many people pick him in there all time 11s etc a true true great.

I think, Modric plays the CM role perfectly, especially when he still had the legs to run nonstop, (always admired his workrate) but Zizou had that extra quality, that if you needed a goal in a crucial game, he could get you one.
I haven't watched any world cup related shows other than Vibe with Five and some other UA-cam channels. Enjoyed the vlogs, the fan POV videos, the interviews and general down to earth vibe. 👍🏾
Ronaldinho somehow is always underrated in all this goat discussion… him and Maradona had “only” absolutely amazing 4-5 years where they won absolutely everything,yet Ronaldinho os never even mentioned… He was a beautiful to watch as Maradona imo. 👀
I think in 2002, he was seen as the wunderkind junior partner in the triple R triumvirate, and when 2006 came along, him being the reigning Ballon D'Or and UCL winner, he had the best player itw tag on him, and was expected to win it for Brazil, but completely ghosted instead in that WC. And then his career at Barca unravelled and the club moved on to new heights without him. Talentwise he might be as high as top 5.

Messi should win the POTT regardless if he wins the World Cup or not. He’s having to take the attacking burden of scoring, assisting, creating, dribbling and playmaking.
Griezmann has two of his teammates competing for the golden boot, he has no goalscoring burden. There’s no pressure on him. France have potentially 3 player for the POTT, which shows how much more impressive what Messi is doing by himself.

fax. as much as griezmann is doing both offensive and defensive duties is because of the quality of his team that allows him to do so. argentinas ONLY creative playmaker is messi. however i believe griezmann deserves it more than mbappe tho
i suppose alvarez plays tennis then? the only reason why messi is competing with mbappe with regards to scoring is because argentina got 4 penalties and he is the designated penalty taker. if alvarez was the penalty taker he could have had 6,7 goals and would be outright top scorer

I watched Zidane for years on channel 4 playing for juventus with his partner in crime Edgar Davids he was magnificent his technique, first touch, skills vision and has strong has a ox then I used to watch him on sky sports playing for real Madrid modric is one of best ever but no better than Zidane

I watch this channel all the time but this world cup content. You all need a pat on the back for doing all this and also been at games ect. I've loved it all, I have loved the videos of reactions of England as well and during the games Joel and ste done videos sitting in the stadium and rio too even if you've been covering on BBC. It made it feel more at home. You could get the vibe of the world cup through the phone

Much prefer this than Sky, BT Sport, ESPN, etc. It's more accessible for most people, & convenient as in if you miss the live episode, you can tune in during your own time & catch up!
Reckon a fan Q & A segment will attract even more viewers! The live call ins could potentially be a bit problematic, but via emails, comments, social media platforms it could work more smoothly!
I'd also look for pre-recorded episodes on different themes like United's '99 treble winning season, Arsenal's invincibles, Legends like Maradona, Cantona, Beckham, etc all being released on those Monday's during those breaks & off-season to give viewers their dose of Five at least once a week!!

Honestly guys, the world cup was/is great, but you guys…, with the pre/post match discussions, the Patrice&Rio Reacts & Vlogs made it even better 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 there were moments, f.e. where you just cannot stop listening to the football talk, between guys who have such a knowledge & supported, played, commentated games yourself. And so many laughs 😂😂😂 all if you & patman just hilarious.

Was watching young CR7 goals and it was probably one of the most insane I ever watched. 99 shot power everytime and was banging them in left and right. That fact somebody can be better than that is even crazier. Messi the goat
As a winger, he was elite even to the eyes. When he transitioned to striker though, he was still elite but he didn't exhilarate the eyes. But you're right, young/winger CR7 was up there for peaks. For Messi I think 2010-2016 was an insane period too with the goals, dribbling, assists/chance creation. We've been blessed this generation with these two.
Zidane is almost untouchable. Technical ability was off the roof. I think the only guy I have seen tht cld have matched Zidane's quality is Kaka, he was unfortunate he was injured a lot.

Ste has a Zidane blind spot. Zidane was outrageously good. If Keano says he’s the best/hardest opponent he played against - enough said. I watched Serie A back in Zidane’s era and he was unreal - Ste needs to put down the hipster spectacles while looking at Zidane’s career!
The content has been amazing! Having something new most days is great. The main vibe eps with you three is still tops, but also loved the guest eps with Lineker, Shearer (prior), Evra etc - they play like a sane outsider has invited in to experience the circus, and they give us a different insight. Joel & Ste actually work really well together as a duo on match days and the blogs have been great - EXCEPT; I don’t like the task or gimmick driven blogs - that’s TV nonsense to me, and waters down what I’m tuning in for (the pure experience and footy chat)
Playing Saudi, Mexico, Poland, Australia, Croatia and not beating Netherlands has to be one of the EASIEST paths to a final in history. And now France has a virus problem. Perhaps it's written in the stars!

Argentina themselves are not stacked up like France, Portugal or Brazil so it’s not ‘easy’. Also the Netherlands game they were up 2-0 and the ref ruined the game with the bs 10+mins added and 17 yellow cards. If they beat France, they would’ve knocked out both last world cup finalist.
Yet you lot supported each of these teams against them, you even said these teams were better especially after the upset Saudi match.

@@juandirection182 Zidane being inconsistent is a myth that comes from 1 or 2 seasons were he wasn't his usual mindblowing self. One for Juve, during the season Del Piero got injured badly early on and missed the rest of it. The other was maybe a couple of years before he retired when he got into a car accident while playing for Real Madrid, and apparently that shook him up.

He deserves to be in the conversation for sure. He's up there, whether they're talking best careers or best player (in terms of their peak). For me, I only watched since 2000s so it's Messi and CR7 for me, in that order, ahead of the others.
Roy Keane vs Zinedine Zidane in Keano's final game for Ireland, in a 2005 WC qualifer, he completely outshined Zidane, Vieira on that day. Keane was easily the best midfielder on the pitch.
I really love Modric as a Real Madrid fan but since he's already been a runner up in the past world cup, I just want Morocco to cap this beautiful journey by actually winning this third place match 🙏🏼

R9 was a beast in his peak, definitely mentionable in the GOAT debae, but nothing is comparable to Messi's 2012 calendar year (91 goals and 22 assists in 69 games).
Also, as great as Maradona was, let's not forget Di Stefano. He won two ballon D'Ors and a Super Ballon D'Or (award for best footballer in the past 30 years; awarded in 1989) ahead of Cruyff and Platini. He WAS Real Madrid, as much as Messi WAS Barcelona. He doesn't get the respect in the GOAT conversation because he couldn't play in a world cup because of a FIFA ban on him, and Brazil not letting Argentina participate in major competitions.
The Ballon D'or was also introduced when Di Stefano was already 30. Who knows how many he would've won if the award was introduced earlier. Both Pele and Maradona are also quoted for saying that Di Stefano was better than they were.
