Fanny performed tonight in San Francisco. June Millington, Jean Millington and Brie Howard-Darling (who recorded the Fanny Walked The Earth album in 2018) along with Lee John (Jean’s son and June’s nephew) playing bass. Jean suffered a stroke in 2018 rendering her unable to play bass. Still, Jean can sing and am delighted she is playing tonight.
A 66 yo "confirmed bachelor" here. I've loved this band since the first time I heard them. Amazing vocals, killer guitar, organ, and the DRUMMER! The interviews with June and Alis are wonderful. Sorry...I just think they are the most overlooked band ever.
Fanny were David Bowie's favorite band! He mentions them in one of his interviews! That's how I first learned of Fanny and gave them a listen! So cool that you like them Justin 👍
Fanny were quite well-known back in the day, I remember (although being in my very early teens) a lot of publicity around them, they were held in high esteem. I love the lead singers "feather-cut" hairstyle that was popular at the time.😁

Totally the Who vibes. I was thinking that right before you said it. As if she was about to scream out, “Won’t get fooled again!” Really good quality musicianship all around. Thanks for the tip!
Fanny were not taken seriously at the time because female musicians needed to present sex--not musical skill--if they were going to get anywhere in the business. What a kick-ass band. Like most all pioneers in any professional pursuit, Fanny were considered a gimmick and not properly promoted by the industry.
I wasn’t paying particularly close attention for the first few minutes, so color me surprised to find this group is from the 70’s!? Sounds as fresh and fierce as if it were put out this morning. Even the Hammond, having fallen out of the mainstream, lent what I imagined to be a funky throwback vibe to a new track. Lead singer’s voice was 👩🍳 💋!
the "una corda" pedal in a piano shifts the hammers slightly to one side so only one string is hit. if a pedal was created that shifted the hammers even more, that would be your capo
Awesome work as always Mr Hawkins! A question for comments day sir...I'm interested if you have GAS? As a professional musician, have you acquired all of the lovely guitars, amps etc that you desire, or do you still lust after certain items? Thanks.

@@hazelberry1454 oh I know! I was made up! Thank you though.
Good Day it’s Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnnnn 🎶🎶👌🏽
Love them! Thanks for turning us on to such excellent music!
Totally the Who vibes. I was thinking that right before you said it. As if she was about to scream out, “Won’t get fooled again!” Really good quality musicianship all around. Thanks for the tip!
When you were repeating The Kinks, I was shouting, 'The Who! The Whooo!' Loving your work, especially the cardis 🤘💖🌠
We all need more Fanny in our lives ....
Please review if you care about this amazing indian metal band "Bloodywood" maybe "Dana Dan"will be a good one or other from their Album. Cheers.
Suzi Quattros sister was guitarist in Fanny
That "freak out" section is definitely reminiscent of My Wife by The Who.
Fanny were not taken seriously at the time because female musicians needed to present sex--not musical skill--if they were going to get anywhere in the business. What a kick-ass band. Like most all pioneers in any professional pursuit, Fanny were considered a gimmick and not properly promoted by the industry.
Just discovered Fanny whoa! What a band! If you look at their Beat Club live shows it will blow you away. Stoked I’ve found them ❤
Holy shit! How have I not heard of this band!? Thanks JH. I shall be investigating
On the subject of capos for pianos, Irving Berlin had a specially built piano that would shift the key. He could only play in G#.
Fanny was an amazing band that never got the respect they deserved.
Definitely the early punk energy of The Who and The Kinks! AWESOME! Thanks for the intro.
They’re alright but really. Do we have to pretend they’re great just because they have vaginas? They’re not on the same planet as The Kinks
@@cockoffgewgle4993 I said early punk energy…didn’t say as good as or just like…why bring their genitals into it…perv?
@@ChrisDoyle2112 Yes, I bought their genitals into it. The band is called FANNY.
Blast from the past, so good, so underated
Awesome. Her voice reminds me of early Geddy Lee.
the "una corda" pedal in a piano shifts the hammers slightly to one side so only one string is hit.
if a pedal was created that shifted the hammers even more, that would be your capo
I get Spencer Davis Group vibes from the opening of this song for some reason. They are brilliant. 👍
Yes:))
That sweater is an optical illusion that makes me think my vision is blurry (well, even blurrier than usual). I love it!
Seriously, where did you get it?
Were Fanny on Old grey whistle test?
Awesome work as always Mr Hawkins! A question for comments day sir...I'm interested if you have GAS? As a professional musician, have you acquired all of the lovely guitars, amps etc that you desire, or do you still lust after certain items? Thanks.
Good question! I hopw they spot it.
I’ve seen this video before - its great and could slot straight into the first Rush album weirdly enough 🤔
Its like ginger baker on drums, The Who guitar, and deep purple keys. Pretty cool
Check out their re-interpretation of the Cream track “Badge” equally kickass!! 💛🔥
:)) Thank you.
Fanny... Such a hidden gem. Sounds heavier like Purple's MKII! Gotta check them out!!!
