The best Fanny is live Fanny!!! Try some of their songs from their Beat Club sessions - “Blind Alley”, “Hey Bulldog” & “Young & Dumb”.
On a personal note, I spent my birthday last year at the home of Fanny’s lead guitarist June Millington.

Same here at 67. I must have missed their appearance on The Midnight Special since I watch it often at the time or I would have known about them back in the 70's. Damn radio DJs and record promoters. Sometimes it took going to concerts and friends who went to concerts with double features to find out about talent. That's how I found out about Kansas (b4 Wayward Son), Nazareth, Queen etc.

Love Fanny! And the band was great too. Seriously, the riff that you're trying to recall is a George Harrison arpeggiated riff that he used a lot, most famously in the bridge to "Here Comes The Sun" (Boston also uses the same D-C-G progression in "More Than a Feeling"). I also love Fanny's cover of the Beatles' "Hey Bulldog." Thanks Cosmo and Harri.

In a 1999 interview with Rolling Stone, Bowie revealed his respect for the band:
They were extraordinary: they wrote everything, they played like motherfuckers, they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody's ever mentioned them. They're as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever; it just wasn't their time.
Harri should check them out live - ua-cam.com/video/QkVYnVAEMIU/v-deo.html . They did a lot more than covers.

It is very great of you to feature Fanny on your reaction channel doing Cream's classic farewell. Fanny was a great band. Guitarist June Millington was the de facto leader of this band and she is still churning out great videos to this day tied to many great projects she has generated, including her mission to motivate young girls to let it all hang out and learn the art of rocking out!

You should listen to another cover...the Beatles' Hey Bulldog...The boys approved of their added verse..!
Another great cover is Ain't That Peculiar...
But they have may fantastic original songs as well..!

Fanny is a highly underrated band. In the US, it can be a slang term for bum, but officially they took the name from heir producer's aunt. (They did recognize the double entendre. Their band house in LA and their third album were called Fanny Hill.)
The lineup for most of their career was June Millington (guitar/vocals), Jean Millington (bass/vocals), Nickey Barclay (keys/vocals), and Alice deBuhr (drums/vocals). Their first hit, Charity Ball, came from this period. Their biggest hit, Butter Boy, had Patti Quatro on guitar and Brie Howard -Darling on drums. The bad broke up about the time that song hit.
The Millington sisters and Brie Howard-Darling reunited in 2018 and released an album called Fanny Walked the Earth, but Jean suffered a severe stroke before they could tour. She is still recovering, but the all of the former members except Barclay had a reunion tour in California earlier in 2023.

Bass player Jean Millington had a stroke a couple years back. She has been getting stronger in a long recovery according to her sister and lead guitar player June Millington. There is a fund set up to help with Jean’s expenses and since I contributed I get updates June puts out. June is so supportive of her sister and encouraging her recovery so that she may perform again.

In some parts of the US, fanny would be used to mean the same thing as it does in the UK, though it is not used commonly. I recall there was a line in the M*A*S*H tv show back in the 70s where Hawkeye Pierce said he wasn't much of a leg man, more of a fanny man. I think most people who watched the show understood that.
