I grew up watching Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Yugioh. I was a big fan of both, and I had a lot of Yugioh cards when I was a kid. Dragon Ball was one of my inspirations for making manga.

I bought the first 3 volumes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga as a tribute to Kazuki Takahashi. As I was going to buy the manga, I looked behind to the other shelf which contained both the Berserk and Dragon Ball Mangas weeks before knowing the recent passing of Akira Toriyama.

This video hits on all fronts: 1) Best tribute you can imagine. 2) I never thought about drawing full illustrations in a vector program. I use InkScape and I felt kinda restricted, so I thought my raster drawings in Clip Studio Paint were the way to go. But I love the way you put these characters together like it's a puzzle. 3) Using your own 'logo' as an artist instead of a signature. It's also something I should work on. Although I'm just an amateur drawing for fun and to relax, nowhere near the level you're on right now.
But I want to say, big thank you ! For the relaxing video.

Thank you for sharing. I see you go between pencil, pen, blob brush, width tool but what are you brush setting? Just calligraphy brush variable? Can you do a new video on you inking? Also why you don't do the flats the easy way of one big rectangle, select both line work and rectangle and just pathfinder substraction?

Absolutely, it's possible to learn! Talent can help, but discipline, practice, and a willingness to improve are what really make the difference. When I started in 2009, resources were limited, but I kept taking small steps-like redrawing my favorite cartoons and observing what I could improve. With consistent practice and patience, you can definitely develop your skills over time. Keep at it, and you'll see progress.
