I saw an all female choir sing this. It was absolutely chilling! The video is called Scala And Kolacny Brothers - Nothing Else Matters. It might be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. PS .. Don Felder from the Eagles also had a Gibson SG Double-Neck, his was white.
I really love this song. The build up is great, it's relaxing but you also have the taste of that distortion at the end. What is special about this song is that it's one of the rare songs that James playes the guitar solo. Normally Kirk is the lead guitarist and he plays most of the solos. Nice reaction Inna, thank you 💕
I was a sophomore in high school when this came out, bought it at midnight or back in the day when they had midnight releases for CDs and cassette tapes
Yes, James is awesome and even Elton John said this is the greatest song ever written. You should hear the S&M version of this one. Nothing else matters S&M
Thank you. One of my all time favorite songs love the playfulness of them in the video. Live with an orchestra is a must see for sure. Another great reaction.
James said in a interview, oh you don't want me playing lead guitar. I call BS James hit it out of the park with this solo. He is a top notch guitarist
The interesting thing about that guitar solo was that it really was played by James, the lead singer, instead of Kirk, the lead guitarist. For some reason Kirk could not make it to the studio that day, so James sat down and played the solo, which came out fantastic.
What can one say about this song. It is an amazing song and with it I think Metallica brought in a whole new group of fans, me included. I love your reaction.
Yes.... yet it almost was never on a album. James wrote it... about missing his then girlfriend while on the road. Band was not keen on it. It seems more known today as if it was a #1 hit or had to be back-in-the-day. it peaked at like #34 in the US but #6 in the UK and #1 in Denmark. That surprised me that Metallica was not a major Top 10 single band we think today they had to be. Also that it was not played on MTV during the day of this official video.... since it has some pin-up nakied girls on back walls and on a mic stand. Blurred her. Head-banging metalheads were not loving this Album as caving-in to such a balad type when power ballads of the 80s as sure hits ... were waning for that early 90s with this release came. Album was a huge hit..... just singles were not by Metallica.
There are many guitars layered in the mix of the final cut of the song which is why you saw James and Kirk with different guitars throughout the recording of this song. Elton John told Metallica that this is one of the greatest songs ever written and made James tear up a little.
During this era of the bands history bassist Jason Newstead Sang backing vocals on many of their moat famous tracks, besides this he is also on Enter Sandman, and Oneq as backing vocala
This is a close song to James Hetfield. He had written this song about missing his then-girlfriend Kristen Martinez while on tour. The video also shows how the bandmates are his family and how much fun they can have together.
James Hetfield (vocals & guitar) wrote 'Nothing else matters' to his then-girlfriend while he was on tour, trying to have a relationship... Back in 1989, there was no internet or mobile phones ... so it was travel... check into hotel... phone call... travel... use pay phone... repeat... It was also the first time that Metallica used a string section for the background - they approached (late) classical music composer Michael Kamen who recorded an orchestra for the track... Years later in 1999, Kamen conducted Metallica's 'S&M' concert which featured Metallica playing alongside a full classical orchestra. The footage from the video was from the Metallica documentary "A year and half in the life of Metallica"... capturing the recording of their self-titled 'black' album in 1991 and the following tour into 1992. FYI - if the band members looked mad in the footage, it's because they were 😠 Recording that 1991 album took a year w/ producer Bob Rock working w/ Metallica and James and drummer Lars Ulrich were always clashing in the studio over creative differences... the other 2 (lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Jason Newsted) were also caught in the conflict and bickering... It cost $1 million to make ultimately and the band would make little money from sales just to pay that amount off... So, Metallica took off on tour (3 members got divorced during the recording) and worked the album in concerts until 1994. The album was a massive hit, ultimately selling 16 million copies in the US alone.
This song is not my favorite Metallica song, but its still up there, a song that brough a whole new fanscare to Metallica, people all over the world liked this one, it got played a lot in radio, so its a great, beautiful song, that also means a lot in the career of Metallica without a doubt..
A double neck guitar is a pretty common thing specially live. One neck is a normal 6-string and the other is a 12-string, the reason is that for "acoustic" parts (or parts that you play as you would in an acoustic guitar) you always record them at least doubled so the sound gets richer and more "dense".. in live performances, specially if the band have only one guitarist, is easier to play these parts in the 12-string (since the strings are pretty much doubled, with the exception of the lower E, I think) and then use the 6-string for the solos.
This song was like the sign to fans that they do music that they love to do, not what the fans wants them to do.. and if u like the music, that is great, but if u don't, that is also fine At least it was the way I interpreted it, because they have changed music style so many times through the years and got so much crap from fans for doing it
As explained in another comment, double neck guitar are quite common, and usually they are 12 strings accoustic guitar neck on upper side and 6 strings on bottom. But there is other models. Ron Thal, who played with Guns N' Roses, use a double neck guitar, both 6 strings, but the upper neck is fretless. You can see it in the video of Sons of Apollo, I think I tell you about this super metal group in another comment. In fact, you can combine every type of guitars you want. There are some with opposite necks, one on the left and one on the right.Steve Vai, for example, use often a 3 necks guitar 🤘😁
Guitar solo? Just something to reach your soul. I love to get carried away in those moments. It just moves you. Try a song from “Three Man Army II” titled Today. This guy makes that guitar cry.
Had the pleasure to hear this live by Metallica, but also by quite a few other bands. It's an amazing song, an absolute classic, but at the same time it's also very accessible. The Black Album is a masterpiece in itself as well. Suggestions for other Metallica songs: - The Unforgiven (the first one, my personal favorite. Part 2 is also quite good) - One (must listen, probably their best song) - Fade to Black - For Whom the Bell Tolls - The Day That Never Comes - The Memory Remains - Wherever I May Roam
Love they opened with the American Flags & "Don't Tread on Me" Gadsden Flag. That says a lot about there Patriotism & its important because some people think there songs are anti American when there really talking about what Governments are responsible for.
Try the video The Flame by Cheap Trick, there's a shot of him playing a guitar with 4 necks on it. Plus the song ain't bad either. Thank you for sharing with us. And may you never run out of reasons to share that beautiful smile. 🙂 ❤
i'll be waiting for the next reaction of a avenged sevenfold song 🙏 And if i can a request, please react a little peace of a heaven the original video or live in the LBC please 🙏

The guitar solo gives me goosebumps every time. Always in anticipation every time I hear this song on the radio. Never gets old!
You should watch them perform this with an orchestra. It's beautiful mix of classic and rock, in perfect harmony

Who cares about that clown?

I love it when a heavy band changes sound to show they’re softer sides

Metallica rules 🤘

I love the lyrics this song.

The double neck guitar is pretty common.. it's a 12 string on top & regular 6 string on the bottom. This song is my favorite from Metallica.. 🤟🎶☮️
Beautiful.
The song is great too.✝😁
This song can calm you down and or make you feel better when your feeling anxious or under the weather but that's my opinion/me
A work of genius…….

My gf that passed away. This was our song.. I love it
The best live performance of this song I’ve heard is the 2004 show in Sydney. Find that one and check it out.
Rush used the double neck guitar too. A lot of guys have over the years.
This song is not my favorite Metallica song, but its still up there, a song that brough a whole new fanscare to Metallica, people all over the world liked this one, it got played a lot in radio, so its a great, beautiful song, that also means a lot in the career of Metallica without a doubt..

THANK YOU KIRK HEMMITT 🎸 🫶🏼
Michael Angelo Batio (Manowar, Nitro) played a guitar with 4 necks...
Elton John said this was the greatest rock song ever written.

And I forgot, you will see a double neck bass guitar in this one too hahaha
There’s a very cool cover of this song by a band named Apocalyptica that is done on cellos. It’s really good those guys can rock some cellos
Check out Voiceplay's cover of this song. They are an a cappella band. The beatboxer added a violin, but otherwise it's all vocals.

Suggestions for other Metallica songs:

- One (must listen, probably their best song)
- Fade to Black
- For Whom the Bell Tolls
- The Day That Never Comes
- The Memory Remains
- Wherever I May Roam
Double neck guitars can only be played by very skilled guitarists.
Jimmy Page made them popular. The one James is playing is probably an ESD LTD over the Gibson that Jimmy played with Led Zepplin
Love they opened with the American Flags & "Don't Tread on Me" Gadsden Flag. That says a lot about there Patriotism & its important because some people think there songs are anti American when there really talking about what Governments are responsible for.
My brother used to make me laugh by singing alternative lyrics such as i still got your bladder 🤣
Inna, try to react Dream theater - Breaking all of illusion live, it's a beautiful instrument and music.

Miley, Cyrus or Lady Gaga one of the two if not, both did a version of this and I thought it was horrible. Nothing in touch this version of it.
those subtitles are nonsense
I'm only going to inject 1 little tinny opinion here. My favorite song from this album is," My friend of misery."
Princesa linda 🥰🥰
