Interesting. I thought about getting into IT consulting at one point, but I ended up getting married and my wife would not appreciate me falling into the road warrior lifestyle. My dad did it briefly and I remember the angst it caused my mom growing up. Consulting is definitely something to do while you’re still young and (relatively) obligation free.
love your consulting content! as someone who’s interesting in pursuing consulting, these videos are really helpful. since recruiting season is coming up, would you do a video on how to prepare for case interviews? would super appreciate that!
Great channel! The one thing I seem to notice is that consultants don’t really get pay raises the way you would in other careers, but of course that depends on who you’re working for. I think it seems like an interesting job, definitely something I’m considering.
Great and very informative video! I can see some similarities in my line of working and I am thinking to switch to consultancy in the future. I heard you saying in some video you are a Change Management Consultant, though I think I have a vague idea what this mean it would be great and interesting if you could make a video on your type of consultancy. Once more, thanks for posting great content and looking forward to watch a new video on your channel. Take care and safe travels!
Thanks for another great video!! Please make a video with tips for recruiting/networking and case interviews. Love your format and editing and your channel!!
thank you for these videos! i am going to 9th grade and still have NO IDEA what i want to do in life😩 but i definitely find consulting very interesting, and i found out about it because of you!
Your channel got recommended because I watch vids by Kevin Jon (Management Consulting Insights) on UA-cam. That guys a beast, its nice to get your perspective, even though you have quite a different cv
thank you so much for this video and your channel, i’m a rising undergraduate freshman and i feel like i have a MUCH much better idea of where my future could lead me :)
Hi Kristina! Been watching your videos and glad that you give some real talks about consulting. Could you make a video about how to make a cv/resume that stands out to recruiter when applying consulting position/job in general? What I mean by stand out is having higher chance of being accepted haha. P.S. keep up the good work and stay healthy because you're doing youtube and consulting. I imagine it could be exhausting :D
Great video, fully agree that consulting has Pros and Cons. Actually, I (Ex-McKinsey) just released a video on my YT channel on why I believe Consulting is the best career choice for recent business graduates. Interesting topic!
There is no specific degree that you need to get into consulting but some degree might be perceived differently if they're looking for a more technical consultant. I work at a Big 4 firm and just shared a video on what consultants do at a Big 4 firm ✨
Salary will be around $120K for a senior IT consultant. $90k for juniors in Washington DC area. Go get half year Digital business it education and certification.
Hi I am a transfer student who is going to University of Southern California (USC) and I did not take the SAT because I didn’t think it was needed since I was going to a community college. However now that I have been looking into consulting, I have read that some firms require SAT scores. I am wondering how big of a deal is the SAT score? My friend who does consulting for one the big 4s said that you can put did not take on the application. I am wondering how much would not taking the SAT hurt my chances of being a consultant. If the SAT is important, what if I take the GMAT and get my MBA, will the SAT still be important? Thank you in advance, I love your videos and how much information you provide!
"demanding" is an understatement sometimes HAHAHAHA. One of my clients just sent a consolidation list of feedback for one of our deliverables to review from like their subsidiaries/holding companies. There goes my work life balance. HAHAHA
Another great video from KChoi! It's always nice to hear that you're not the only one when it comes to the cons of working in consulting ✨#big4consultinglife
Is consulting similar to project managing? There seems to be some overlap like not being tied down to one specific industry or business sector, being brought in to companies to specifically work on projects etc...
I'm really interested in consulting but I know that you have to have a degree in business and marketing and I know that requires math and I'm not good at math :(
You just need basic maths: adding, dividing (percentages) and multiplying. I would say more important is your logic. Logic is the engine that drives your maths. Maths can be practised. Don't discount yourself just because you're not good at it now; if you have the structured thinking, the logical turn of mind, then that's what matters most
It’s not exactly required to have a degree in business and marketing (if you can join a consulting club at your school or something that would be very valuable), and depending on the type of consulting, math isn’t necessarily the most important skill!
Not sure if it’s the same where you are but I’m in the UK and got a consulting grad job having studied ancient history, having been a member of consulting society etc. I’m bad at maths but taught myself arithmetic again for interviews :)
Is it possible to get involved in consulting without a STEM/Econ degree? I got a BA in history but have two years of work experience essentially in implementation/operations.
Yes you can Harry! I work at a big 4 firm and I’ve shared some insights in one of my recent videos if you want to check it out ✨ also feel free to ask any specific question!
Thanks for posting this insightful video? Just out of curiosity where did you work as a consultant? (I can understand if you wanna keep that private lol)
I was approached recently by a MBB firm about an associate position. Was happy at first, but now I’m not sure if the work/life balance would be worth it. I’m 30 with a wife and young child and already have a good paying job that’s full time remote. Trying to figure out if the higher compensation would be worth the travel and stress. Leaning towards no right now
Depends on why you would make the switch and what opportunities you're looking for out of it. Not sure if taking on an associate position at this stage would be the best for your work/life balance, but all depends on the bigger picture, I suppose! Good luck!
Hey! Thx for a great video! Im also working as a business strategy consultant in Korea! I was wondering if I can get some tips in terms of making a video, vlog as a consultant myself!
How many projects at a time do you work on? I guess it's safe to say depending on the length of the project? Like some don't have tight deadlines and therefore, you might have 4-5 projects but some will close in a year or 6 months but you are running them simultaneously.
Big 3 (management leaders): McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Bain & Company. Big 2 (operation leaders): BMI and Accenture. Big 4 (finance leaders): Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PWC.
Thanks for the video! I have a question regarding the point about becoming a generalist vs expert. Would you say it's better to avoid becoming an expert since there's a possibility of being pigeonholed for exit ops? Thanks!
That's not quite how things work! I work at a Big 4 firm and we do both - so we find more business/clients but they also come to us based on reputation and perceived value. With regard to sales quotas, you don't really have any definitive targets as its not a sales role, however, the expectation at the consultant level is to be staffed on projects that are bringing in money for the firm (billable hours). I actually just shared a video on what consultants do at a Big 4 firm ✨
May I know your accent is British English or American English? It sounded so soft, gentle and acceptable while you were illustrating something. I love it so much~
I love your accent I will learn the grammar first I will mess each sentences, but my con to speak English is messing with grammar and when I speak some basic works will be twisted in tongue 😂. I think this sounds weird but I need to tell this stuff because many people are suffering from the above issue.
Can you make a video about the consulting interview process and how to prepare for it? Thanks!
check out kevin jon on youtube, he has all tht stuff online
Consulting will be good for me if I plan to stay single....
Haha believe me, it's definitely manageable. I work at a Big 4 firm and just shared a video on what consultants do at a Big 4 firm ✨

*It's so key to evolve into a specialist rather than a generalist as a consultant, much higher pay, more mastery and becomes more enjoyable*
Thank you Kchoi for the wonderful video. Always looking forward to hear your personal and career insights.
this video is so clear-presented and really helpful for newbees like me. appreciate the insights :)

Cons: no bonus for overtime work. Which makes my salary the same as McDonald’s part time job.

Project management is definitely a part of /skill you need when you’re a consultant!
Can you do a video on the pros and cons of working for a big firm or freelancing. Can you do both?

linked in the description box!
Is it possible to get involved in consulting without a STEM/Econ degree? I got a BA in history but have two years of work experience essentially in implementation/operations.
Probably only if you went to a MBB target school like an Ivy League, Stanford, MIT, etc

I'm studying Information Science and Technology with a business focus, is it enough to get a job in consulting?
Hey! Thx for a great video! Im also working as a business strategy consultant in Korea! I was wondering if I can get some tips in terms of making a video, vlog as a consultant myself!
My only question is that how long you stay abroad.I take regular meds monthly. Does that limit things.
I love your channel so much! I always learn something new so thank you for that!
Aww so glad to hear! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment :))
How many projects at a time do you work on?
I guess it's safe to say depending on the length of the project? Like some don't have tight deadlines and therefore, you might have 4-5 projects but some will close in a year or 6 months but you are running them simultaneously.
haha exactly correct!
@@bykchoi I pretty much answered my question 😂
Bro my teachers get paid more than consultants lol they make like 100k per year, superintendent makes like 350k
Hii dear. Do consulting requires mathematics or lot of calculation as I'm not good in mathematics. Please reply.
Big 4 are Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, EY and MBB are Mack, Bain, BCG then, what is Accenture?
Big 3 (management leaders): McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Bain & Company.
Big 2 (operation leaders): BMI and Accenture.
Big 4 (finance leaders): Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PWC.
Thanks for the video!
I have a question regarding the point about becoming a generalist vs expert. Would you say it's better to avoid becoming an expert since there's a possibility of being pigeonholed for exit ops? Thanks!
Can you also make a video on exit ops and outlook? It's a bit board from my research so it's great to see your outlook on it. Thanks!
Can you introduce some consultant clubs? I'm highly greateful if they are specialized in some índustries like: hospitality or real estate
please keep going!! love your content so much
Aww thank you for the encouragement!
I have a case interview with bcg in a week. Any tips?
Question, do you have to look for clients or do clients look for you? Do you have sales quota?

Did you go to college? And if so which course did you take?
