Looks like there might be something wrong with it. He probably just exposed himself to whatever makes a deer drown in inches of water when A they can swim and B are usually known for being quite nibble on their feet.

Fatigued from trying to fight a current is a strong possibility. I have seen drowned deer in deep rivers before, while fishing for steelhead.

The deer was already dying. This guy wanted to touch it and the deer got scared. The deer ran into the water to get away from the guy. Him interfering with nature made it worse for the deer.

The dear has some kind of diseases, maybe blue tongue, it was going to die, so he shortened it's suffering. A couple of years ago blue tongue disease killed whole herds in my state, Pa. it's sad.
Deer got caught in raging current. Man WALKS thru current to save said deer. Right. Right. That deer was sick and dying. Intervening human prolonged it's suffering.

Cycle of life, you just don’t see it that often. They die from starvation, drowning, disease, predators every day. Once when fishing with my brother he snagged a dead deer on the bottom of a lake. We figured it fell through the ice.

Regardless of how the video ends it's clear that you made the right choice to end this poor animal's suffering since he/she couldn't surivive with that disease. You are a strong and kind man, my friend.
My immediate thought was this deer has brain disease to be so uncoordinated in a very shallow brook. A sad disease called Chronic wasting disease. But you are right this section of video doesn't show anything but a rescue.
Judging by how the deer was behaving in the first video, it was sick and likely would not survived much longer. But thank you for rescuing it from an ugly drowning death.

Yes, it was not normal drowning. He got a seizure. You can see that on his head. He's holding it constantly to his left.

My immediate thought was this deer has brain disease to be so uncoordinated in a very shallow brook. A sad disease called Chronic wasting disease. But you are right this section of video doesn't show anything but a rescue.

In 8 inches of water? 😂 It has chronic wasting disease. They get a thirst that can not be quenched, then immediately die. I'm sure the guy in the video hasn't a clue of this disease either. He should have immediately contacted the nearest game warden. It's imperative that a game warden be notified

This state is the "zombie deer", which are actually deer infected with chronic wasting disease (CWD), which is a prion disease. Deer with CWD can appear very unsteady, stumbling a lot, and are often very thin. They may also show other symptoms related to neurological damage.

It had CWD, chronic wasting disease. Either that or EHD. A disease that makes the animal seek out water and lay down. The thing was wasted out of its mind.
