This movie was quite necessary in order to combat the unnecessarily harsh criticism of the beautiful art and lifestyle of cigars. I love my cigar culture and hope more people watch this.
I was introduced to Cigars by way of entertainment ( movies etc) and some Armenian friends who were gas station owners and restauranteurs. But I was educated on the subject in part by watching your videos. I will lightly toast my next cigar the Sahakian way. Thank you
Once again it seems the overreaching hand of the Federal (reserve) money printing machine seeks to destroy another beautiful industry full of tradition and heritage. Washington needs a major downsizing.
@@Shoutinthewind There is no reason. An unelected group of old fogies gets to monkey with the flow of printed money into and out of the banking system and the economy. It's bad enough that they blow a huge bubble every year, but with inflation that they always try to produce, it's sends things like cigar manufacturing to the poorest corners of the earth. Sad really.
Excellent documentary. In fact, I am a new smoker (I started quite old months afgo , I am 63), but I just loved the passion put in every cigar. That makes me feel admired and grateful at the same time.
Excellent! My first cigar was in 1972 . I ordered it for 99 cents from the back of a comic book, it was huge and made me sick as a dog. I now have a 3000 count humidor.
One thing I do find is when newcomers to cigar smoking feel judged or unwelcome. Cigar smoking can be a rich and enjoyable experience, and it's important for merchants to remember that everyone starts as a beginner at some point. Knowledge about cigars is acquired over time, through experience and guidance. Merchants should ideally foster an inclusive atmosphere where questions are encouraged and the learning process is supported. After all, today's novices could become tomorrow's aficionados, contributing to the community and culture around cigar enjoyment. It's in everyone's best interest to be patient and helpful with those just starting out.
Very well put. I agree. This is how my local cigar shop is owned by a cigar aficionado who's had a very successful nice cozy shop in our area since I was a child 30 years ago.
This was a beautifully made documentary. I recently gotten into cigars. I enjoy them quite much and there was even some history facts I didn’t know about. I truly respect the cigar industry cause it is a industry on class, respect, and culture. It is truly an honor to watch this documentary.
Phenomenal film. Habanos 🇨🇺 are definitely the best in my opinion. There are many phenomenal new world cigars. However Habanos 🇨🇺 are the best to me. Again this is just my personal opinion. That truly amazing and unique taste that I only get from Cuban tobacco never gets old.
im so proud of you guys for making this movie about cigars, this is one habit and skill most people around the world do not appreciate. Blew me away that you were able to get so many famous people in the cigar industry, such a great production value in HD also.
I love to see, that this amazing movie is now free to watch for everybody! A premium cigar is so much more than a smoke - it's culture, history, handcraft and art.
As a nearly life long cigar smoker at age 63, and a home roller, I really enjoyed watching this documentary. Thanks for posting. I have also recently started growing my own tobacco and have picked about 120 lbs green weight of cigar leaf this year, and I should get another 20 lbs of filler picked from the sucker crop, before we get our first frost, probably a month from now. It is always a treat to get inside the heads of great rollers, blenders, and growers, and while my palate will never be as discriminating and educated as the experts, I do get a lot from videos that helps me to make cigars that bring me greater pleasure. One of the things on my bucket list is to tour the great cigar factories and growing operations of the world. Meanwhile youtube gives me opportunity to see into the daily lives of the people who devote their every effort into creating a superior product and bringing prosperity to their families. I loved seeing how modern farms are hanging leaf for color curing, and I may modify my own methods because of that. It would have been nice to see more about fermenting and aging, in this video, though. I realize of course that the aim of making the video was not to teach people how to produce great cigars, but to look into the economics, politics, and social factors, and showcase the level of craftsmanship and pride, and tradition involved. Still, some of us out here are very interested in how everyone does all these behind the scenes steps in the process. What cigar lover has NOT visited a factory and watched the rollers at work? The thing is, the actual rolling is just one tip of the iceberg. Anyway great vid, and again, thanks for posting. Thumb up.
After listening to Dennis Prager’s podcasts for a couple years now; with all of the times he talks so highly about cigars and how they absolutely cannot be compared to cigarettes as well as the whole FDA BS about “tobacco is bad”, I finally decided to give it a try. It was the perfect thing to do after a long day of work, so relaxing. My first cigar was a Perdomo lot 23 Maduro, it was delicious and invigorating. I cant wait to try some others of these great cigar makers.
I'm sure you've stumbled on some great smokes by now but if you have the opportunity, try a Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Reserve. I'm a brand new cigar smoker and it was among my first, I keep going back to it. Wonderful smoke.
What a great film! Thank you. Sitting outside enjoying a cigar, feeling grateful to enjoy this tradition. I love that the industry is charitable and entrepreneurial.
Man I’ve in a very short time fell in love with premium cigars and have been basically obsessed with with every day, watching videos, reading articles etc…
Same! I’ve enjoyed cigars here & there over the years but I really started my intense exploration of cigars last summer and with every video I watch and article or book I read, I fall more & more in love with the history & culture. Plus it’s pretty cool to know that my Spanish roots are very much tied to the origin of this wonderful product. Cheers!
Same! It was something I never thought I would enjoy. Man was I wrong. I’m having a great time researching and looking at different blends and tastes. I have an even better time sitting down and smoking on a cigar. So relaxing
I watch this film each time i have a cigar. I was introduced to cigars many years ago, but only recently it became a part of my lifestyle. As a father of 3 boys, and husband, theres nothing i value more than my 1 hour at the wnd of each day to enjoy an old fashion and a cigar. This film gives me such deep appreciation for the art of cigar making. It is filled with truly humble men who are gifted artisans in their own right. The history and culture of smoking inspires hreatness within me. And i am thankful for the folks behind honoring this great heritage through film
Wow!!!! Very happy to learn the rich, emotional history and culture of our dear neighbors. I just recently took an interest in cigars and this documentary has given me deep respect for the people/artists who go to work everyday to give the world little brown sticks of love. Thank you to all of you folks, i wish you all the best!!
Amazing little film. I am in awe at the resilience, dedication and work ethic of some of these people. I love cigars and I am more in love with the people who make them every time I learn a bit more about the culture and background of the farmers, blenders and rollers.
I don't smoke cigars and I still really enjoyed and learned a lot from this documentary. Amazing production value and so interesting. I am definitely going to have to try some premium hand rolled cigars! I do use snus (swedish oral tobacco) and quit cigarettes a decade ago.
It sounds cheesy. But whenever I have a cigar, it feels like a romantic engagement. For that hour to hour and a half, you get to relax, and enjoy something made with care, and passion. My first cigar was an Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 natural robusto. Still love going back to that one. Thank you to all the companies and makers out there.
The amount of passion and emotion that everyone speaks with in this really spotlights what the entire community and products are all about. Not just for cigars, but for pipe tobacco smoking as well. It's about raw humanity, connection, honesty, emotion, risk taking, community, and slowing down. We're not meant as people to be secluded from one another, we're not meant to have our only form of social interactions be on social media websites, or message apps, or comment sections of poignant videos. We're meant to be part of our collective, our tribe. The interlocked and mingling nature of the cigar history between all these varying companies; and also the cigar/pipe lounge culture really emphasize that. We're all just people in the shared human experience; so take that moment, light up a stick or pipe and commune with that stranger next to you doing the same. We are one.
This is beautiful! I can rewatch it a hundred times and still be amazed by the content, wisdom, culture and passion all these people shared with all of us in this doc.
As an Australian, I'd like to urge anyone reading this to please take your time to investigate where this regulation leads. Have a look at Australia. See how prohibitively expensive tobacco is here. See how our cigar culture had been totally annihilated. Our best cigar lounges deleted from history. You do not want to give the FDA an inch because I promise you, they will take a mile. Think the USA can't end up like us? Think again, sunshine. Fight with everything you have. You have my love and support.
What they've done to gun rights in Australia is beyond appalling. Hopefully our populace here in the States remembers than an armed society is not only a polite society, but a free society as well.
I grew up smoking cigars once or twice a year with my uncle. I never found great enjoyment in the activity. Recently however I have found such wonderful relaxation and peace in taking an hour every day or two, such as my soul allows, to light a finely made hand rolled cigar and take a moment to reflect on life.
Damn I had no idea. This opened my eyes on the Industry. I'm a new cigar smoke and this caught my eye. I watched it and totally amazed I'll support any bill out there to help these individuals.
It’s heartwarming to see these guys who make so much money I can’t even comprehend using it to advance the lives of the people who gave them that living. The dedication to the history of the art and culture surrounding this craft is inspirational.
I had dinner with Carlito a few years ago and he is everything you see here in this movie. A down to earth man with a generous spirit. I still wear the OpusX hat he autographed and have a couple of the BBMFs left that he shared during that dinner. A really wonderful guy and his father's legacy lives on through him.
I just got into cigars and I can tell you it’s a lifelong love! I had no idea and never thought twice about cigars before getting into them a few months back
Great doc, really interesting to see the rich and detailed history of cigars. It speaks volumes on the contrast between big industrialised tobacco and these smaller, boutique companies making something of quality and craftsmanship. The two couldn't be more different, and yet the FDA is making it harder for them to thrive whilst big tobacco takes advantage of this,
This was a great movie. Definitely opened my eyes up to the industry and the rich history. I appreciate every cigar that I light up a little more now :-)
There's so much great info in this film it's amazing. I had zero clue that Cameroon wrapper saved the industry when the Cuban Embargo hit. SO many legends in this film too. Very well done. The coolest part is this. To me, the most creative guy in this film, a man who literally changed the entire industry for the good is none other than Pete Johnson. His outside the box thinking forced people in the industry to take a long hard look at their old, stale, and boring blends. Today, we have so many amazing blends available it's like Christmas every time I go cigar shopping. There's something for every cigar smoker at every price point. I'm 40 plus years now of smoking 6 to 8 a day. No nannies, I don't INHALE....LOL. What Pete did is literally save this industry. Thankfully most have caught on and make some insanely tasty cigars. I've watched this several times, and each time I honestly learn something new. Thanks for making this film and thanks Pete for being brave enough to stand out.
What an incredible film. Thank You so much to all involved. I’ve gained an even further appreciation for the art of hand made Cigars. Cheers Y’all, from Texas 🍻
I loved this film. This is the sort of message we need to spread far and wide about premium cigars and pipe tobacco being enjoyed purely by responsible adults and bringing people together.
Cigars+people= Glamorizing tobacco smoking is gross and disgusting! Why risk your life and your health? Are you even considerate about the people who do not smoke and do not want to smell the tobacco smoke?
@@goodcommunitylife I'd like to talk about this, thanks for asking me. It's not glamorous, rather it allows for deep thinking and emotional processing while alone or with friends. If you've ever smelled pipe smoke, it can smell like incense, campfire, or even fruity, which is quite relaxing. Cigar and pipe smokers would never smoke in public or in a place with people who are non smokers. It's rude. I also think certain foods and intimate acts are gross, however I don't judge people for their hobbies and interests. It's a free country. With regards to health, I agree that cigarettes are deadly, however pipe and cigar smoke is not inhaled, and the 1964 bombshell Surgeon General study that revealed the deadliness of cigarettes also said that pipe and cigar smokers who do not inhale have no increased risk of mortality. I already breathe polluted city air and plenty of campfire smoke out in the woods, so I'm not worried about puffing (and not inhaling) a bit of tobacco. I would like to add that tobacco is an age old tradition in the Americas going back 10000 years at least.
This was absolutely the best Cigar video I have found yet. This has everything I was looking for about cigars, the culture and the history. Hope to see more videos like this one soon.
I've been thinking for a long time about growing and making cigars learning all i can, the name and design all down on paper, this documentary has given me the extra boost I needed to be the FIRST tobacco and cigar in my great country of Wales 🏴
I'm so happy that this film was made with as much passion as the cigar makers put into their art! The history lesson was so much fun. Great job putting this together
Absolutely loved it! This is exactly what the cigar world needs right now thank you! More films shorts documentaries for the second boom that is coming at least I believe it to be coming. This rivals the films that came out during the first cigar boom that can be found on youtube as well. Well done guys!
I've never bought a full box of premium cigars....but from watching this documentary , I've decided that my first box will be a box of padron cigars, I've had before and really enjoyed.
Great movie. I really educated myself on the history of cigars during the covid lockdown. When I'm smoking a cigar i usually look at it it after every puff and someone usually asks why am I looking at it like that. It's because I understand the journey it took from seed to smoke to make smoking it possible and I appreciate it..
I absolutely adore premium cigars. This is a great video showing the beauty of cigars. I can’t believe they’re comparing hand-rolled premium cigars to gas-station 99c blunts. Everyone knows what these flavored blunts are used for. Premium cigars are not “flavored” nor “affordable”.
Really well done, appreciate the effort behind this. Also, thanks to all of the families and leaders of the companies for their contribution to the documentary, it was great to hear both their history and their current perspective.
This was a great well out together video. Every interview placed perfectly and aligned with the history. Hand made as well as an Eladio Diaz blend. This video is synonymous with a nice Cigar.
Thank you so much for this incredible movie! It was lovely to meet all the people who are behind the cigars I love to smoke so much and to see the passion and effort they put into their products. Like at the end of a great cigar when one is sad that it is done, I was sad at the end of this movie that it was over. It was a pleasure to watch and I will certainly watch it again. Thank you!
This is a beautiful story, documentary and also history all at the same time. I totally agree that cigar aficionado community instilled and nurture love , friendship & humane society
It's so amazing to hear that there are still companies and people out there that are willing to sacrifice parts of their money/profits to help people in need for the sake of helping. When I heard that they built the children a primary school, and when the children reached highschool age they took out a million dollar loan to build a highschool and medical center knowing that they will make the money back, and investing into the community that made the company what it was, it made me happy. The world needs more people like this.
This has been an amazing production. Applause to all those who had a hand in making this movie. I will rewatch it over and over again to really appreciate all those who bring this wonderful gift we call cigar smoking enjoyment. It will always connect me. Thank you.
We interviewed about 65 different people from the industry, AJ being one of them. At the end of the day, 39 people made the final cut of the film. We gave our editor complete creative freedom to choose the best of each interview to tell the story as best we could. Unfortunately, some of the people interviewed just didn't make the final cut. We still love and respect AJ!
@@HandRolled I'd love to see that version. Maybe one day you can make an uncut version and put it on sale and let the proceeds go to those schools or clinics in the cigar factory areas.😎
This was extremely informative video. I’ve been smoking cigars now for 15 years and have enjoyed so many different blends of tobacco. My favorite tobacco is a maduro. Thanks again for the video.
I'm not a cigar smoker but this documentary was fascinating to watch. I had no idea how labour and time intensive it was to produce them. I fully understand why cigars are so expensive. I hope all these manufacturers remain in business for many, many years to come, I may even try a 'proper' cigar to see what it's like.
The best documentary ever made about the cigar industry as a whole. I am honored to have viewed it.
The fact this is free blows my mind. Fantastic documentary.
This movie was quite necessary in order to combat the unnecessarily harsh criticism of the beautiful art and lifestyle of cigars. I love my cigar culture and hope more people watch this.
As a member & True Cigar Enthusiast, we love you back.
Great video! Captures the magic of a hand rolled cigar and how their impact extends far beyond the enjoyment of those who smoke them.

Yes Kirby! Love ur channel & your videos!
This was amazing. I hope everyone can watch this and understand the cigar industry and the cigar community! great job by all.

I would like to add that tobacco is an age old tradition in the Americas going back 10000 years at least.
fantastic video! every cigar enthusiast should watch this!
I think I’ve watched this 4 times now. So good
This was absolutely the best Cigar video I have found yet.
Great film....Best Cigar documentary ive ever seen....thanks for posting.
THIS WAS TOP NOTCH!!!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS!!!!
AWESOME FILM! Every Cigar smoker should watch this. To appreciate every single toke of a cigar!!
Watching this video while smoking a rocky patel sixty makes me unbelievable happy.
Cant say why but thank for that awesome movie! 💨🤎
I loved this with all my ❤️ THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH THIS IS SPECTACULAR
Fantastic film thank you for the effort in putting it together. Makes me love cigars even more
I'm so happy that this film was made with as much passion as the cigar makers put into their art!
This was brilliant. Thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great work.
Was so happy this came up recommended, 5 min in I love it already! Thank you
Really well done, appreciate the effort behind this. Also, thanks to all of the families and leaders of the companies for their contribution to the documentary, it was great to hear both their history and their current perspective.
What an incredible documentary. Thank you for creating this and sharing it with all of us!
This was a great well out together video. Every interview placed perfectly and aligned with the history. Hand made as well as an Eladio Diaz blend. This video is synonymous with a nice Cigar.
Watched this with my granfa. It was great!
Thank you!
This is my comfort movie. I’ve watched it three times now 😂
This is a beautiful story, documentary and also history all at the same time. I totally agree that cigar aficionado community instilled and nurture love , friendship & humane society
Cool documentary! thanks to all involved in its development. I enjoyed this a lot.
Cigar smoker or not this is an excellent documentry. I love the passion and hard work that goes into this industry.
This has been an amazing production. Applause to all those who had a hand in making this movie. I will rewatch it over and over again to really appreciate all those who bring this wonderful gift we call cigar smoking enjoyment. It will always connect me. Thank you.
Why was A.J. Fernandez not at least mentioned or interviewed in this production? In my opinion, should have been included. Just saying.
Another great brand and human being is Erik Espinosa who is from Cuba to boot.
This was extremely informative video. I’ve been smoking cigars now for 15 years and have enjoyed so many different blends of tobacco. My favorite tobacco is a maduro. Thanks again for the video.
Great story! great heritage! Great history! Such good people. Thank you for this.
Thank you for making this. Great job!
Love this film so much and share it with people as much as I can.
Thank you for sharing this with all of us
I’m super late to the party but this is an extremely informative and fantastic documentary!
What a fantastic film, I love my cigars and this made me fall even more in love with the whole industry, brilliant film
Awesome. Thanks Pete Johnson, a true industry legend
I have been waiting for a movie like this forever!!! Absolutely outstanding👌🏻
As an avid cigar smoker I was very pleased and edified by this documentary.
Absolutely loved it. I've gotta get with some buddies of mine, set up the projector, screen, speaker and of course...cigars.
Cheers 🔥💨💨
I'm not a cigar smoker but this documentary was fascinating to watch. I had no idea how labour and time intensive it was to produce them.
I fully understand why cigars are so expensive. I hope all these manufacturers remain in business for many, many years to come, I may even try a 'proper' cigar to see what it's like.
Love your videos. How you talk about it. You make it an experience. Thank you sir
