    This operation reminds me of my grandfather. He worked construction and had a passion for it. Always got to the site early, got home late, straight as an arrow, provided everything for his family, had incredible values and was loved by everyone in our neighborhood. Good old days when you worked and you were proud of your job and company. I see these people working for 40+ years for Padrón and it’s amazing. Think about everything they have gained in those 40+ years (knowledge, house, car, food, and etc). We should appreciate loyalty more than anything.

    • @snail415
      @snail415 7 місяців тому

      Right-on. I suppose that in my generation and place in the American professional workforce (I’m 45), loyalty only gets you burned. Why? Because true leaders are loyal to their teams and people…but true leaders are far and few between.
      Thank goodness we have a hobby that centers us and allows us to savor not only a great cigar…but savor all the things we strive-for. Cheers.

      Well unless they’re there under coercion, then they obviously are being paid better than any other alternative. Economics 101. You are free to donate some of your extra money though. Meanwell I might take the savings I get from cheaper cigars and donate it to a place that is even more destitute.

      I've been to (apparel) factories in Central America. They were clean, modernized, and organized. This looks to be on that level. I've seen and worked in worse factories here in California. If you haven't been to or worked in a factory before, I could see why you'd feel there's a sweatshop vibe - until you've actually been in a "sweatshop". Also, keep in mind it's humid down there, and they need the environment to remain humid for the sake of the tobacco. Otherwise, many factories down there are actually climate/ac controlled.

    • @509734
      @509734 5 місяців тому

      Late to the party but here’s what Steve Saka has to say:
      First, it would be inappropriate for me to post exact numbers as every factory has it's own scale and we are all very careful to never be put in a position where we could be construed as colluding as factory owners when it comes to salary and compensation for workers.
      In Nicaragua, a bunchero and rolera are paid per cigar that passes quality control. The rate at which they are paid varies depending on the cigars they are making. Typically they earn 2 to 3 times more than the average factory worker working at lets say a textile plant and over 4 to 5 times more than a farm hand. This is because they are skilled labor. Plus it is considered much better work as the environment is much better.
      In addition, some factories offer additional benefits. For example at DE we provide an onsite clinic for all our workers health needs, disability and life insurance and a family burial policy. We also provide some other benefits such as supplemental staple food stocks and some luxuries like cigars and coffee.
      The cigar industry is almost single handedly responsible for creating a true working middle class in the Esteli Nicaragua. As a result of this beyond subsistence level of income and compensation is what has created all of the small business in the area that now offer goods and services to this burgeoning economic class. Motorcycles, cars, tvs, cell phones, clothes for the purpose of appearance rather than just function, a real grocery store, restaurants, etc, etc.
      The combination of pay, benefits and working environment is why working in a cigar factory is a coveted job in Nicaragua. It actually provides the means for people to not only support their families but to save for the future and to dramatically increase their standard of living.
      Hope this helps,
      Steve Saka

I do smoke other cigars but when I want a cigar that I know for sure will burn right and satisfy every time I smoke a Padron. My go to Padron right now is the 1926 No. 6 maduro. I also smoke a lot of the 1926 No. 90 maduros, they are so freaking good! I have never had a Padron cigar I didn't like, only some I prefer more than others. Padron is the best hands down! I for one believe Cuban cigars have a huge allure because they can't be easily obtained.

    Best I've ever had! The 1926 and the 1964 are awesome. No Cuban could ever measure up. The 7000 in Maduro is my go to. Never a bad stick. Nothing negative to say.

    Haven’t had a Padron yet, going to have to get one. Everyone says it’s the most consistent smoke. What should I start with? I love the Oliva G, O, and V right now.

  • @MC-yx2gn
    @MC-yx2gn 2 роки тому

    Padrons are the easiest pulling and most consistent cigars out of the high dollar brands I smoke. I wouldn’t say that cost equals quality, but it should GUARANTEE quality, and I must say that while I think a Rocky Patel Decade tastes as good as a Padron 1926, I’ve NEVER had a Padron that didn’t burn evenly and have a consistent flavor profile to the ones I’ve smoked in the past. I usually smoke the Rocky Patel brand for cost purposes, but I have gotten a few bad ones in the past. I’ve smoked a real Cohiba Behike 56 and while it was great, I wouldn’t spend hundreds of dollars on a cigar (it was a gift from a Cuban friend). The Padrons are a very good cigar with a price to match. If you have the money, they don’t disappoint. Cigars are a very personal thing though, and some people are happier with a $5 fumas than a $200-400 Behike.

    I think Padron's blends are excellent and consistent and I have met Jose Padron. He asks for criticism to help improve his cigars. I have only one suggestion that I would give that would dramatically improve Padron cigars. The regular line needs to be rolled tighter. I believe this line is going for a Cuban Montecristo flavor and they succeed at that. The one difference being that the intentional bite of a Cuban Montecristo comes from the tobacco itself while the Padron gets that intentional bite from a looser roll. I am certain that tightening these cigars may subdue that bite, however the cigar would be greatly improved as a result and it would be worth that sacrifice.
    Great video.

      bill doe yeah, you don't have to pull as hard on it and still get huge clouds of smoke. I don't get any bite from them either. 1 puff per minute/minute and half and it always stays cool and smooth for me.

      @phil7394 7 років тому +1

      I like the loose roll too. It's what keeps me coming back. I would like to see them put a double or even triple cap on their cigars though. Other than that, perfect.

    Funny thing, I'll always remember the first time I learned how to truly taste a cigar (it was an Oliva G figurado), and I'll also always remember the first time I tasted a Padron (it was the 1926 no. 35). I literally did a double-take at it and was like, "Holy shit! Now THAT is a tasty cigar!"

    A real great American story!! We are all immigrants, but nowadays ppl expect a hand out instead of working for it or going about it in the wrong way..... Then have nerve to fkn complain!!! Go back to the 3rd world living and complain to them that u had the chance and the world by the balls but we're lazy! I love a story like this! Amazes me also when u hear ppl coming up from nothing or traveling to a country with $10 and have it all now! God Bless all the hard workers that keep America & their families happy & healthy!
