Can we stop talking about burying Reaves? It's not like he makes 2 or 3M. He's barely above league min and he provides good personality and vibes and can pump up the buys with a good hit or scrap. We noticed how much he can impact that 4th line when he's rolling.. and he was the first guy Brad brought in when he came in. He's exactly what Brad wants on this team. He's sticking around.
Everyone who is saying to get reaves off the team is brain dead, our team needs a guy like that considering how soft they play in the playoffs, plus now with Craig as our coach he will want Reavo. Tanev, Zadorov, Carrier are also players I would loveeee to get. In an ideal world we get a defensemen back in a Marner trade too… Tre has a real opportunity here to make a really really good defense this offseason… he can’t pass it up
This UFA the Leafs need to focus on defenceman first,it will be the year they can shore up on it finally, Tanev and BIG Zahdorov are 2 guys the Leafs should target look at how both have been playing this play-offs.Trade off from Lilligren he dosent have what it takes in the play-offs.Brett Pesce would be a good add,you have Rielly, Benoit and McCabe locked up so 3 guys on the back end is what you need and will be the best D the Leafs will have over how many years, this is the year to fix the Defence, Just Do It Treliving.
Montour would be great obviously, but I find it unlikely.
Demelo would be a great pick up, and if we get pesce it would be a huge plus and upgrade from last years defence.
Also Zadorov would be a huge pick up but also find that unlikely.
Montour is Native Aboriginal like Berube aka Chief that would be awesome to have two natives on the Leafs.
I really want Toronto to trade for Parayko from the Blues as Berube knows him very well & he is a really good dman.
Leafs should also target Tanev very good tough dman.
Pesche would be a nice fit but he may like to stay in Carolina.
I would even make a call about Chickryn from the Senators.
I agree with Parayko he's played well with Reilly at the world cup when they were both beginning their careers. Tanev would be a good second pairing option with McCabe as a shut down tandem. And Benoit and Maybe Neimela as a third if he's ready to step in. And if there is a Marner for Saros + deal actually in the works then that would awesome.
@leebird76 I'm hoping the Leafs can get either Saros or Ullmark they definitely need a proven #1 goalie keep Woll as the backup.
I really want them to get Montour bc I'm Native & I love the Berube hiring the Chief will scalp those who aren't wiling to comply. 😂
@@TOOL_Lateralus agreed Montour would be a nice pick up and Will needs some development time to figure out his injury proneness. So bringing in a Saros or an Ullmark to bridge the time till Woll is Ready for prime time is a good plan. Montour historically is 5 goals, 0.0 +/-, vs. Pesce same 5 goals, + 25, Tanev, + 25, 0.0 goals. (Provorov 5 goals, 25 assists, + 25), also look at their matchups, 1st line vs. 3rd line
I mean if they make it to free agency Pesce, Montour, Roy and DeMelo all great defense partners for Rielly.
Grzelcyk and Kylington could be sneaky good pickups

@@Atlas_Steorra Thats what people keep saying but that Game, 5, 6 and 7 tend to prove that wrong. Leafs had great Defense. After watching that series I have no issue with the D on Boston OR Toronto. It was the offense that dried up.

I can't see Montour leaving Florida . With all those tax incentives they get in Florida ,good weather ,good team etc...I can see him taking a discount to stay there
He's native and from Ontario. It's not like he should have loyalty to Florida it's not like these been paying him much. He's also 30 and only had one outstanding season. The rest were basic.

Its going to be very difficult signing a guy like Montour, he will be asking for about 6 to 7.5 mil ...he is not much better than Rielly, but has a harder shot and shoots more and is tougher...Nobody mentioned Matt Roy from LA, is defensively sound and can log minutes. Zadorov, a guy Leafs could have acquired many times before; is a really good pick up and Treliving knows him well. People always talk about Tanev who is already 34, yes he is good but slowing down and is injury prone! Brady Skjei, a mobile D who can log minutes. Brett Pesce is a no brainer if he stays healthy. Yes, Dylan DeMelo would be ok. Even a guy like Alexandre Carrier who can really play! Leafs also need a goalie, some forwards and hoping them to sigh Domi & Bertuzzi or even one of them.
They have 22 million to spend if I'm not mistaken, 2 defencmen and a goalie are a priority.

I like the idea of Brett Pesce and Brandon Montour, but it's very unlikely they could get both. I think they have a better chance at getting Pesce, as it sounds like talks between him and the canes have went nowhere and Carolina is gonna have to free up some Cap, so there's a good chance he hits free agency. Montour, maybe hits free agency, but I would have to think Florida is gonna do everything in their power to resign him and let's be honest here....why would he wanna leave if he didn't have to? Great weather, no tax state, and the Panthers are a hell of a team and coached very well and structured. It would be awesome though to land one of those two atleast in free agency. Pesce has been linked to the Leafs for years now..for good reason.. exactly what we've been missing for all these years.
What about Tyler Myers Colton Paranko?
I would want Montaur first - but it's unlikely if Panthers are going to offer him a decent package to stay there. With the money we will potentially have to play with, I don't think we should be taking a punt on an injury prone D-man like Pesce. I like DeMelo's numbers in the regular season but we need playoff strong players and I can't see that with him. We do need righty D-men though
Sean walker is decent option, he looked pretty good in the playoffs and will prob be at a reasonable AAV

Reilly belongs in the same basket as 78 and 37. Just brutal. Real D, Bouchard, Zadorov, Ekholm, Makar, Q Hughes, and the list could go on. Rielly is supposed to be our offensive D. There’s a ton of money sitting in that guy . Would take Montoya any day.

They need to get rid of Marner, free up some of that money. What occurs there will determine what they can do in free agency.
Move Matthews. Get more back and they usually win with him out of the lineup.
I Think the Leafs need to go hard after both Demelo and Pesce but to make that Happen one of either Marner or JT would have to be gone.
matt roy is I feel unsexy but a perfect fit. Will get less than pesce and can stay healthy
Realistically, the leafs need to unload and get picks and prospects. Tank the next couple of years and get some high picks. Just a short term rebuild is what they need. Missing the playoffs would be good for our blood pressure as well. They don’t need an overhaul. Make Matthews captain and build around him.

@@chuckwiseman3772 Nylander did just that. He decided to play his final year and as it became obvious to the Leafs that they would lose him and get nothing back, they came up with a deal. Marner will likely follow the same road and since he has had a better career than Nylander, they will likely not allow him to walk either. It is only the Dumbo's on social media that are down on Marner. Last year it was Reilly. Next year it will be someone else. The fans at the games love all these players.
Leafs can ship Reilly back home for Hronek and sign Montour & Matt Roy. Trade Marner to LA for Brandt Clarke, Blake Lizotte and King’s 2025 1st. Re-stock 2025 picks by trading Lilgren and Robertson.
Demelo is my top target. I think you can add Tanev.Scott Walker and Logan Stanley to this list as well...

Nashville is a target. They have to be. Perennially aspirational, and have good players that will never succeed there. Marner could pull you Saros and probably at least a solid second pairing guy

Peace and/or Montour would be amazing of course but I think those are both long shots. Three guys that I think are far more realistic are Matt Roy, Dylan DeMelo and Chris Tanev. The absolute best of those would be Roy as he is 29 years old. 2 years younger than DeMelo and about 5 than Tanev. He’s super underrated and plays great defence. I think He is probably the best target for the Leafs.

Tanev 35 years? 0.0 goals, Pesce not 'injury' history, one year less than 70 games, in 10 seasons, that one 55. give him Brodie's money. Get Provorov in trade, even more consistent than Pesce, with same numbers, so top pairing Provorov - Pesce, and last year's 1st & 2nd pair become 2nd & 3rd pairs. Spend Bertuzzi money on C. Stephenson, center's Nylander, = 2nd line, Tavares - Knies line goes from 2nd line to 3rd line. 'no more core four', no trace of small soft, no more slow pokes, no more filthy rich and dirt poor, also a middle class.
If a team willing trade a top blueliner, they gonna ask for Robertson in the pot. No one wants the overpaid core.

I can't believe Montour is already 30 lol Doesn't feel like he's been around for that long. With that being said, if I had to pick in order of who I'd want, I'd go with Montour, DeMelo and then Pesce of the 3 you've mentioned. The thing I love most about Montour, he shoots the puck a bunch and his shots seem to get through a good amount of the time. The Leafs get WAY too cute on the PP , especially in the playoffs and need a way to get chances to score the garbage goals. Montour provides this in spades.

Reilly needs to go before marner.
Season literally turned around after his cross check to Ridley Grieg. They were very much in danger of falling out of the playoffs at that point. Only one making big money who looks like he gives a damn. Marner I think cares so much he’s imploding and I like him as a player but given the teams needs, I don’t understand your logic. They got the least amount of offensive contributions from their blue-line. Unfortunately, marner and Tavares aren’t worth their cap hits at this point. Definitely not worth a raise, given the cap structure in to, whereas Reilly is probably getting paid slightly below market value.
Tavares and marner are close to 160 pts combined, and if you get rid of both for dmen your depleting the top 6 too much. I think trading marner for a goalie and a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd(NASH), use those picks paired with liligren for a top 4 dman(1st, 2nd & lilgren) for Parayko with salary retained and use the rest of the money on free agents we would have a nice retool here without getting rid of JT. We should be able to sign our ufas and still have cap space. Lets say we get pesche free agency, this is what our back end could look like
