I was crushed by the OEL AAV at first but once I saw the market and how he signed for less than players like Edmundson, I’ve grown to like it.
Its not bad especially with the cap going up to 93M for the 2025-2026 season and it is expected to jump by 3M-5M per season for the next 3-5 years. 88M this season, 93M the next, 97M the season after and then 101M or so.
Entering the last year of OEL's contract the cap could very possibly be above 100M.

Tanev is going to get overworked covering for rielly and his defensive lapses,
Jarnkrok is a ghost in the playoffs. In over 90 playoff games he has 5goals. Did they not re-sign Dewar?
It didn’t really matter who the leafs signed. Regardless people were gonna say overpaid and the moves sucked. Even tho in reality these are extremely good players that make us a better team. This is the best defensive unit we’ve had in a long ass time and people still just wanna piss and moan
This is true and a byproduct of giving 4 guys about 40% of your cap
Better defensively causes turnovers for your offense to bury a bit more chances than before.

I would love to see the Leafs make a trade for Brandon Tanev for their bottom six. He looked great in the World Cup. I would love to see how it would play out having two of the Tanev brothers on their hometown team.

Matt Murray is a plug , OEL signing is scary. And after the Bruins signing Zadorov and Lindholm it will be another first round exit by the Bruins .
I respectfully disagree, Zadorov is way over rated. If he was a leaf he would be here 8 months and the fan base would give him some dumb nickname a la Dion pylon. Honestly his defensive game is leaky and I’ve thought he was overrated because he’s loud.

They did okay on the back end which is important, but the Leafs still don’t have a real goalie and they’re bringing back the same 4 guys up front! My confidence level in those 4 is lower than it’s ever been.
Have you seen their scoring stats? I see no issue at all.

I don’t think this is enough to get the Leafs to the next level. The Leafs are better defensively however also older and Tanev is injury prone. It’s unfortunate nothing was done so far with Marner I hope he just doesn’t walk at the end of his contract. Nonetheless time will tell, I just hope they can win a cup before the Matthew’s era in Toronto ends.
Leafs ain’t letting him walk for nothing. They will overpay for him again.
Moves are irrelevant until they break up the core. 1st round and out again next year.

Totally agree, then they will sell off what draft assets they left for playoff push and lose in first round. Then no draft picks, it's a "rinse and repeat " cycle

Why not pick up Jeff Skinner on waivers. His family wouldn't have to be uprooted since they live in Buffalo, he wouldn't cost anything for them to have a look and best of all he'd be a low cost addition if they decide to keep him.
He plays for the Oilers.

Marner isn't going anywhere. There is nobody out there to replace his production , I was hoping they would have moved liljgren and rielly
His production in the regular season or playoffs? His playoff production is easy to replace.

I’d like to see them dump Kampf’s contract but idk if that’s possible. A few extra depth pieces up front would be nice, but they’ll have to move some money to accomplish much at this point
Robertson improved a lot last year and I hope that he stays. He could be a 20+ goal scorer if he plays more games.
Everyone is pushing to break up the core 4. Fine, but why is Marner centered out when they all underachieving in the playoffs. I'd keep Marner (offer 9-10 mil a year for 3 yrs) and work out a way to trade Tavares. His best days are behind him and his age is showing.
