It's one of the only things to do for a tune up on a diesel. It's about the same or more important than keeping all your rocker arms in the same spot you took them off. It's recommended every 100000 and your taking your rocker arms loose from the push rods so it needs to be done. You can go without but if you want more life out of your engine then it's a must. Like installing spark plugs on a gas engine without gapping them
Injector cross over tubes are a designed one time compression fit into the injector body. Replace the tubes with the injector. Also good idea to blow the fuel that has ran down into to engine cylinders from the return fuel passage. Not doing so is a good way to hydro lock and bend a rod.
Also I hope you at least checked your valve set after removing the rocker arms for the head studs and injector install. It's a pretty important process that I see a lot of people skip over.
ParoDoXz paint er gloss black, grab a fine grit file and file off the of the paint you want bare metal then clear coat. cheap, easy and looks great. keep up the cool vids. nothing like the sound of an in-line diesel.
Very informative video. Finally somebody out there that has a brain between their shoulders. Keep up the good work and your one of the few that responds to its fan base. Much appreciated and keep up the good work.
I recommend taking a milk jug and cutting it from the rim to about half the way down the jug (keep about half of the rim to make it a little bit more rigid) and put your bolts in the jug so you don't lose bolts while you're working on your truck.
Old video but best detailed. Did you get any codes putting those in? I picked up 150hp injectors.. thinking about throwing them in and a bigger turbo later. I have a fass system for fuel pressure but don't want to waist time.
*MORE HELP* So I have everything done. installed 75hp injectors. And when I start the truck up the rocker arms keep throwing off the seat that pushes down the valves on the turbo side. wondering why that might be and what I can do to fix it
Cummins Kyle mine slightly loped on take off with DAP 75hps but its cause its a manual btw DAPs are known for the slight lope on take off I didn't mean the ugly idle lope I ment like the intermittent ones that you can get a tune for on common rails
didn't know if you knew that the rockers don't need to been removed to do a injector job..and did you run the valves while you had the valve cover off?been a great time to do it.
Osvaldo Garza The websites and forums recommend it, but I know a ton of people who just run a lift pump on a standard output vp44 and they are doing fine with 150 injectors
how do you like the dap injectors? I'm looking at getting some for my truck but idk what brand to go with. I want some that are extrude honed because of the precision. also, I have compound turbos but I tow a lot so idk if I should get 75 or 100hp because I don't want my egts to get too hot. any recommendations?
looking to get a 2nd gen, cant find a good answer to this question anywhere. Which is a better overall 12v or 24v? what should i look for when i get one, new lift pump and new trans?
John Berry Overall, 24v are better. The only real argument people have is about the 24v vp44 that go bad. As far as looking for new parts on a truck. That's not to important. Just make sure everything is solid with it. No need to not buy a Cummins just because it has a stock fuel system or tranny. You could always upgrade that stuff yourself and haggle with the owner and lower the sale price for not having a lift pump on the truck yet. That's what I did
Granny Your old injectors, call them just to make sure they want them though. Doesn't hurt to call and confirm when you have any questions. Especially when money is on the table haha
Thomas Calzone If absolutely nothing is working and you've tried everything then you can try letting the truck run for 5 minutes and let it warm up a tad . That may make it easier to pop out, but I would just try and yank the piss out of it, your not gonna break them, be sure the area is lubed up with fresh motor oil too
Thomas Calzone it will take about 30 minutes for it to get back cold after running for 5 minutes. Them engines get warm quick and take a while to cool down internally
lemme ask a question. whats the best motor to be looking for in a 2nd gen? theyre all over the place where i live. what should i ideally be looking for
*Ok this is not a race joke* but the black guy in the car in the background scared the shit out of me 😂😂😂 didn't notice him until he moved lmao random dude chillin
Kordel Schaper There's no need too, truck has low miles and they aren't giving me any problems. If I put it all back together and have problems then I'll address it from there
ParoDoXz Ah, where I live we have testing. Mine's coming up this month. But my truck is 02 cummins, and it's straight piped. I've always passed emissions with the resonator and muffler but the truck never had a cat, and the guy at the muffler shop said the muffler and resonator don't matter so I can get it straight piped. Wonder how that'll go, especially considering it costs $50 per emission test haha
Like to see more engine upgrades on her. and does anyone know why sometimes speakers static pop sometimes? I had bought brand new pioneer 6×9 speakers and nothing happened until I turned up my volume was over 30 I hear Static pops Everytime the bass hits and I never heard of this before if you can understand and get out of what I'm saying please reply i want to know before I get my new rear door speakers for Christmas and FYI, (also the factory rear door speakers were doing the same thing(truck is a second gen ram 1999))
that is the fastest reply time ive ever seen! keep up the awesome work! once i get my cummins im gonna be doing some things to help make it a beast. and im gonna reference these videos so i dont blow up my truck haha. Thank you man!
I noticed you said to put the rocker arms back where they came from because it might cause timing issues. The real reason is because the wear pattern may be slightly different from one set to the next. When parts are new they have to wear slightly to become perfectly matched. This is what happens in the "break in" period. If used (broken in) parts are assembled with parts they were not matched with excessive wear and early part failure will be the result. Just sayin...
Man this truck is my dream and you and i have the same mind set. I'm sure someone's asked this and I hope you don't mind, but how much did these injectors cost?
I know, but for video purposes I did, takes more time to do it that way but you don't risk bending the fuel lines trying to place the new injectors in. And yes, you must remove injector tubes in order to do this install properly, you must replace rubber O-rings on each of the tubes.
Adjusting the valves isn't mandatory since my truck has low miles and I have no issues with them, if once i start it back up I have any issues then I will adjust from there
I feel like you get yourself more organized and do a better job when youre tryna make a clean UA-cam video lol. Good work been here from the start Para. I drive a 96 12valve.
Hey man have been watching all of your videos every night watching some over and over. I was going to start dropping the truck off and paying some one. But after watching your stuff is very helpful and I’m going to tackle everything my self now. if I have questions thru my process Can I write you on Instagram ??
Awesome truck, you should look into get some bushwacker pocket style flares for this thing that'll keep it a little cleaner with the wheels throwing water all up on it. Plus it'd make it look even meaner. 😎
Yeah everybodys got there own style. I'm gonna be looking into basically the same truck towards fall next year. I'm gonna be relying on ur awesome vids for mine
coming along well. don't forget to adjust your valve lash
Thanks man! And I have no need too

Ill look into it some more, thank you for the dialog man
Jason Gentry yeah I'm actually surprised watching all these videos of people removing rocker arms and not at least checking the lash in reinstall.
Just for future reference, ft-lbs to in-lbs is Ft-Lbs x 12. In-lbs to ft-lbs is in-lbs / 12. So 8 ft-lbs is 96 in-lbs.
Ohh I gotha man, I appreciate that
No problem, man. It can come in handy to know these conversions, especially when they're that simple.
Why take tubes out. U will fill ur cylinders with coolant ?
i just ordered a bullydog tuner for my 12v cummins shopuld be pretty sweet
Why would you order a tuner for a 12v? They're not electronically controlled.
True ^
+ParoDoXz
yah i heard from my older brother double stacking chips works have you tried this with your 24v?
yah i heard from my older brother double stacking chips works have you tried this with your 24v?
Ive heard of people doing that on 24v's, But not on 12v's man
You wrote "Took Tool" at 2:22. Lol
But awesome video!
Haha Auto correct man, gotta love it. But thank you! I appreciate you watching!
Because of you I've decided to purchase a cummins thanks man really appreciate u and what u do!
Im glad I could assist with your decision man, they are really great trucks! And thank you for supporting the channel!
so I'm getting a fass 150 and injectors, should I get 110 or 125hp? I have a stock turbo
Sorry for getting back to your comment so late man, But you cant go wrong with either, Might as well get the 125s though. Thanks for watching!
Injector cross over tubes are a designed one time compression fit into the injector body. Replace the tubes with the injector. Also good idea to blow the fuel that has ran down into to engine cylinders from the return fuel passage. Not doing so is a good way to hydro lock and bend a rod.
Blow the fuel out of cylinders with air line.
Also I hope you at least checked your valve set after removing the rocker arms for the head studs and injector install. It's a pretty important process that I see a lot of people skip over.
Good info man, thank you for that. Lash was checked after video and is fine
you should paint your valve covers the same color as your truck. would look awesome
I want to get a gloss black one with crome letters, i need to find one
yeah that would look really good to
ParoDoXz paint er gloss black, grab a fine grit file and file off the of the paint you want bare metal then clear coat. cheap, easy and looks great. keep up the cool vids. nothing like the sound of an in-line diesel.
Might do that man! Thanks!
dam dude thats the cleanest engine bay iv seen on a cummins lol
tomdog266 Thanks man! Haha it was really clean when I got it, got lucky finding this one
Very informative video. Finally somebody out there that has a brain between their shoulders. Keep up the good work and your one of the few that responds to its fan base. Much appreciated and keep up the good work.
Jacob Buescher Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! And I will for sure!
I recommend taking a milk jug and cutting it from the rim to about half the way down the jug (keep about half of the rim to make it a little bit more rigid) and put your bolts in the jug so you don't lose bolts while you're working on your truck.
I do the same thing but with a box
Good. Losing a bolt, especially an important bolt is always annoying
For sure
Old video but best detailed. Did you get any codes putting those in? I picked up 150hp injectors.. thinking about throwing them in and a bigger turbo later. I have a fass system for fuel pressure but don't want to waist time.
*MORE HELP* So I have everything done. installed 75hp injectors. And when I start the truck up the rocker arms keep throwing off the seat that pushes down the valves on the turbo side. wondering why that might be and what I can do to fix it
Thomas Calzone Did you take the rocker arms off to install the injectors? And did you bleed the lines of air?
I did take off the rocker arms and no I did not bleed the lines of air
She might start to lope bro 😎
Hope not
+ParoDoXz It wont. Not even with 150's will it lope with ample fuel.
Cummins Kyle mine slightly loped on take off with DAP 75hps but its cause its a manual btw DAPs are known for the slight lope on take off I didn't mean the ugly idle lope I ment like the intermittent ones that you can get a tune for on common rails
+DirtyDiesel24v Yeah man word to that. Can definetley get a little lope with a manual. I have all the parts cant wait to get mine swapped in
The build looks like it's coming along great, hope to see it up and running after the new VP44
Thanks man! And me too, I miss driving her
didn't know if you knew that the rockers don't need to been removed to do a injector job..and did you run the valves while you had the valve cover off?been a great time to do it.
Watch the video man haha I mention that you don't need too
You tempt me to order new parts every week bro haha! Just picked up a 01 Long Bed 5 speed, got super lucky as well. Keep up the good work brother 👌🏽
Sorry haha! But thanks for watching all the videos!
yes I replaced injectors and the #6 injector and line was a pain.
also need the tool to take out the feeder tubes.
If you install the 100 hp injectors do you need a injection pump with more flow/pressure than the original vp44?
Osvaldo Garza The websites and forums recommend it, but I know a ton of people who just run a lift pump on a standard output vp44 and they are doing fine with 150 injectors
I can’t find where u bought the injector puller from. Can u guide me in the right direction?
if you don't have a spot to put your rockers get zip lock bags label 1-6 and put them in that way.
True
ParoDoXz ordered my injector tubes from dap. hopefully mine will start to act right lol
Haha hope the best for you man
how do you like the dap injectors? I'm looking at getting some for my truck but idk what brand to go with. I want some that are extrude honed because of the precision. also, I have compound turbos but I tow a lot so idk if I should get 75 or 100hp because I don't want my egts to get too hot. any recommendations?

are you gonna do a intake horn wile you have it off...? I have the s&b intake horn it makes a difference
We will just have to wait and see...haha
love your truck! nice and simple
Thanks man! And thats exactly the way I like my trucks, Nice and clean
So when ordering bigger injectors from dap what exactly do you have to send back to them?
Granny Your old injectors, call them just to make sure they want them though. Doesn't hurt to call and confirm when you have any questions. Especially when money is on the table haha
ParoDoXz thanks for the help man haha
how much hp are the injectors
100
Correct ^
NEED HELP!! I have the same exact truck and I can't get the 6th injector out. just refuses to budge. ideas?
Thomas Calzone If absolutely nothing is working and you've tried everything then you can try letting the truck run for 5 minutes and let it warm up a tad . That may make it easier to pop out, but I would just try and yank the piss out of it, your not gonna break them, be sure the area is lubed up with fresh motor oil too
How would I be able to start it with everything apart? once I put it back together and then take it apart it'll be cold again
Thomas Calzone it will take about 30 minutes for it to get back cold after running for 5 minutes. Them engines get warm quick and take a while to cool down internally
Thomas Calzone And remember, we are talking worst case here haha it's not supposed to come to these things but it may be your only shot
Forgot if youve mentioned it but any plans for a bigger turbo?
Yes I do, I will be releasing which one soon
what size tires can you fit with the leveling kit?
jesse thompson 2" level on factory wheels can fit 35s
jays4forces not if your -24 offset or more you'll have to trim
jesse thompson True ^ . If you have offset you will only be able to clear 33s. I have -44 offset and still had to trim a little with my 33s
How much did the dap 100hp injectors smoke with your stock turbo?
Luke Wittman Pretty smokey man, but I have a hot rod vp44 also
lemme ask a question. whats the best motor to be looking for in a 2nd gen? theyre all over the place where i live. what should i ideally be looking for
samuel nowicki ideally you want to look for a non 53 block 24valve with a solid vp44 and solid steering and as stock as possible
ParoDoXz ok thanks brotha ill keep all that in mind.
Did you adjust valve lash when you put your rockers back on?
Nick Hunter I checked my valves and they were fine so I didn't need too
Build is coming along well
Thanks man! She's getting there
*Ok this is not a race joke* but the black guy in the car in the background scared the shit out of me 😂😂😂 didn't notice him until he moved lmao random dude chillin
Haha thats my boy
Waiting for the VP44 before you lash your valves?
Kordel Schaper There's no need too, truck has low miles and they aren't giving me any problems. If I put it all back together and have problems then I'll address it from there
I run 100hp injectors too but I feel like I should have went bigger.
Logan Coffey I may eventually, not in Hawaii though
Hawaii have emission laws?
Logan Coffey That have recon checks where they check pipes and stuff, yes , but it is legal to have a straight pipe diesel, but not gas
Thanks man , and I haven't had that problem. May have something do with an amplifier if you have one
love the vids man. great job!
Thanks bro! I appreciate you watching!
Maybe i missed it but seemes like same old injector but new seals.
Its all new ones man
out of curiosity, can you put an exhaust brake on a compound setup? great video! im pickin myself up an 07 5.9 dually pretty soon
nick ameiss I have no idea man, I'm not experienced with compounds at all haha
that is the fastest reply time ive ever seen! keep up the awesome work! once i get my cummins im gonna be doing some things to help make it a beast. and im gonna reference these videos so i dont blow up my truck haha. Thank you man!
I try and get to every comment as quick as possible! And thank you for supporting the channel! No problem! New video will be out tomorrow!
Who is the guy sitting in the car at 13:10?
My neighbor, he's real chill. He just started a youtube channel
That's cool. You should link his channel so we can follow him too.
I will be doing that soon once he gets a few videos up
Awesome :)
Your getting really good at editing!!
Thanks man!
What you spend on them?
$300 during the Black Friday Sell they were having
ParoDoXz a piece?
God no lol I don't have that deep of pockets lmao
You didnt have to adjust your valves after removing the rocker arms?
Ok thank because I'm about to get some 120hp industrial injections injectors
Nice man, good luck!
What was the torque 8 FP OR INCH POUNDS?
I noticed you said to put the rocker arms back where they came from because it might cause timing issues. The real reason is because the wear pattern may be slightly different from one set to the next.
When parts are new they have to wear slightly to become perfectly matched. This is what happens in the "break in" period.

Never mind you already made one!! Nice!
What type and hp injectors are you running?
where did you get your mirror at? Your videos are very helpful
Home depot man! And im very glad to help!
Hell yeah man!
Im excited about them!
ParoDoXz I would've ran an overhead before I put my valve cover back on but that's just me lol
What kind of headlights and taillights do you have?
can't wait to see how the Cummins runs after the vp44.
Me either man!
Man this truck is my dream and you and i have the same mind set. I'm sure someone's asked this and I hope you don't mind, but how much did these injectors cost?
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching the build on the channel. And I got a good deal on Black Friday on them and only pid $300
ParoDoXz Each?
No, all together
intake elbow* not intake manifold. common mistake I would've called it that to if I wasn't thinking.
Thanks man, I appreciate it
You did not have to remove tubes for injector install. Just needed to pull back. we do them at the shop with the lines on as well. Great video though.
I know, but for video purposes I did, takes more time to do it that way but you don't risk bending the fuel lines trying to place the new injectors in. And yes, you must remove injector tubes in order to do this install properly, you must replace rubber O-rings on each of the tubes.
Next is to build the trans
For sure
Where did you get those torque tools from in the video?
Did you adjust your valves ?
Adjusting the valves isn't mandatory since my truck has low miles and I have no issues with them, if once i start it back up I have any issues then I will adjust from there
good vid man you my have saved me a lot of money still pending tho.
Thanks man, glad to help!
What kind of injector do you got
I feel like you get yourself more organized and do a better job when youre tryna make a clean UA-cam video lol. Good work been here from the start Para. I drive a 96 12valve.
Haha I try too man lol And I really appreciate you support!
cant wait for the vp44 install vid! , i think mine is starring to crap out on me
Sorry to hear that man! Part 1 should be out tomorrow
link to the tool used to pull out the injectors?
Do u have a link to those headlight covers?
I'm impressed how much work you've done. Is your MOS as a mechanic?!
tedtronsen Haha it's not hard to work on an in-line 6. But no I'm an MP
Please for the love of God do a VP44 removal video if you didn't plan on it!
Already recorded it, video will be up tomorrow man!
ParoDoXz you the REAL MVP
Lol
did anybody else notice the random dude sitting in the garage in the car
Hey man have been watching all of your videos every night watching some over and over. I was going to start dropping the truck off and paying some one. But after watching your stuff is very helpful and I’m going to tackle everything my self now. if I have questions thru my process Can I write you on Instagram ??
Chris CME lawn care and property services Glad to help man! Of course, if you have any questions just DM me on Instagram @parodoxz
great video
Thanks man!
8 Foot pounds or 96 inch pounds....
Awesome truck, you should look into get some bushwacker pocket style flares for this thing that'll keep it a little cleaner with the wheels throwing water all up on it. Plus it'd make it look even meaner. 😎
Zach Herman Thanks man! And I would but I don't really like the bushwhacker look haha
Yeah everybodys got there own style. I'm gonna be looking into basically the same truck towards fall next year. I'm gonna be relying on ur awesome vids for mine
you must make bank
Savings money, pays to save
make a beat next time for the intro lol
Haha I might
Getting 200hp injectors soon.
Good! You'll like those man
1st
Thank you for being early!
