For me it's SH1, no doubts about it. The dreadful atmosphere, the lack of explanation for almost anything in this dark old world, the murky graphics, the all-swallowing fog, the tranquility before sounds of the siren engulf the city and change it to an industrial hellhole, all work together to create a horrific setting of unprecedented scale. Having said that, the scariest game I've ever played still remains Fatal Frame 1. Almost gave me a heart attack at several points.
That song that plays during the otherworld hospital, after lisa’s cutscenes where it makes multiple noises that sounds like farting…. Ugh that was hella scary 💀💀
@Aslan_q7yz I actually played it when I was 11, but I was too scared to finish it. 16 years later, I decided to play it from the beginning until the end, and it was still scarier than all the other horror games I played outside of Team Silent games (I think all of their games are equally scary). What other horror games are supposed to be scarier?
So nice to see the love for The Room. Remember when it came out playing it whilst off college with a fever and boy oh boy was that an unforgettable experience
That game is oddly really fun to play when you’re sick…I guess cause the apartment, while sinister, has a strangely cozy vibe to it. Bonus points if you’re playing it sick on a cold, rainy/overcast day. 😂
@MetalTrenches a very fair point. Has been nearly 20 years since I've played it and currently debating if I should go back to see if I still feel the same
4 and 3 were definitely the scariest I thought. Although with 4 the burping enemies kind of took me out of it. But the remake of 2 won the scariest title for me as well. That game made me dread going down hallways and certain areas whenever the radio started making noises. And the atmosphere was incredible.
I've had multiple Bloober team members like my comments encouraging them to pitch an SH4 Remake- the lead Gameplay designer in particular was enthusiastic about the idea of redoing SH4 with better marketing, a more gratifying gameplay loop, and more Hauntings inspired by the likes of the movie 1408. Imagine a cursed video call from Henry to Eileen to lure her into Walter's clutches in a post-pandemic world...
Prison and Labyrinth levels from SH2 remake are the real mental type of scary shit, pure hell. We definitely need SH4 remake first, will be amazing with the same approach Bloober Team had for SH2
The three biggest problems "Homecoming" had were (in my opinion): 1.) The movie transition between worlds - not scary, not surprising. Worked in the movie as a cool visual but takes the tension out of the game from suddenly realizing that everything changed. 2.) Cinematic introductions of all enemies - like, are you kidding me? The complete rehash of the story from SH2 - it was basically a 1:1 copy and for that we saw the ending coming from a mile away.
For me the biggest problem is how loud and obvious the entire thing is. That intro sequence is soooo obnoxious. Generic baby crying, nonstop jumpscares, gore that feels wildly out of place. And then you get to Shepard’s Glenn and it’s like… generic children laughing sounds, goofy cutscenes, it all feels so try hard and on the nose
You didn't mentioned the bad combat and almost non-existant horror. I actually liked the story tho. However, this game has 2 untouchable aspects, soundtrack and monster design, both amazing

the thing that freaked me out the most, was how accurate the ending of the psych eval in shattered memories was, didnt expect to be called out on my alcoholism like that.
I agree. Silent hill 2 is the scariest game I’ve played in such a long time. I genuinely needed to take breaks because the game is so intense. They completely nailed what a nightmare would feel like. It’s just so wild what the game brings. I’m just so happy new silent hill games are on the way.
To this day Silent Hill 3 is the scariest game I've ever played. It just feels so unrelentingly oppressive. The others are all creepy in their own ways, something like Silent Hill 2 just had amazing atmosphere but that game made you feel lonely and depressed. Silent Hill 3 I just felt like I was never safe Getting into your ranking. I guess I'm weird because I also found homecoming to be really creepy. I thought it had some of the greatest enemy designs in the franchise and the best bosses probably until this remake. But even then it still has some great ones I found the hotel especially to be a really creepy area, so was the prison. And in general even if I didn't think it was the greatest Silent Hill game, I just loved it as a horror game. I would say downpour for me was easily the least scary. It felt like you were just fighting generic zombie looking dudes the whole time I'm conflict it on where I put the remake because as far as level design and atmosphere and art direction. It absolutely nails being creepy and uneasy and even taps into some of that oppressive feeling when you're in the other world that I'm talking about how silent Hill 3 felt like to me But there's so much combat. So all of the enemies that creeped me out the most become a nuisance rather than a threat at a certain point You get too used to it.
Can definitely see that. For me, I think 3 does it a bit better. The otherworld especially in 3 is like 1 cranked to the max. But 1 also has that low poly grit to it, and the OST is really really oppressive.
Silent Hill 3 is still to this day the only game that has made me take breaks from playing because it's so unsettling and oppressive. And no, that's not only the first playthrough thing as the same thing happened when I last played the game two years ago. The most horrifying game of all time.
I think 4 is by far the scariest. I think I agree with the list, just swapping the top 2. Walking around the room is terrifying by itself, but with it starts doing scares in the room…I can’t keep going lmao
I got into Silent Hill very recently following the remake, and I have never been as genuinely on edge playing a videogame as I have creeping in Toluca prison and seeing a red-lit Pyramid head in a dark hallway
The decent from the historical society in the Silent Hill 2 Remake filled me with dread the whole way. If there is a hell, that's what I'd imagine it to be.
I still remember the time I played sh3 for the first time. This was right after I played 2 and 4. The feeling of dread I experienced when I saw the nightmare version of the hospital was unlike any other game. Those red, pulsating walls scared the sh*t out of me.
@@4Harmony6470it works in The Room because when he goes through the holes it’s almost like an “out of body experience” when it jumps from first to third person
It most likely was not going to be first person in the full game. They wouldn't get an actor like Norman Reedus to be the player character if it was going to be first person where we can't see him.
The only game cancellation I am still lamenting to this day as much as I did when it was announced is Silent Hills. I desperately wish we could have seen that game even if it sucked.
I think Homecoming had the most potential of all the newer games. The idea of being a soldier stricken with PTSD in Silent Hill is honestly a fantastic set up. And to a small degree, even though Pyramid Head is supposed to be a manifestation of a specific protagonists guilt, it makes sense that Alex would encounter him as James and Alex both seem to wrestling with these suppressed emotions and even went about dealing with them in similar ways. It may not be a very popular opinion, but I think Homecoming deserves a second chance with a team of writers that really appreciate and understand the lore of the universe.
Silent Hill 2 gave me nightmares for 1 entire month and I only got to the bowling alley. I never could play horror games because I'm such a wimp but when I was a kid I watched my brothers play the first 4 games and they all scared the sh*t out of me but I actually tried to play 2 ONCE and couldn't go any further after the bowling alley and LITERALLY had nightmares for a month. Seriously. Not even joking. I'm 30 now and still can't even watch the remake on youtube if its dark outside.
@@funmylife9248 Yeah I would said it maybe scared them but they weren't terrified like I was. They like horror genre. We had this old house with a creepy basement when I was a kid and we used to store pop down there, sometimes when I'd go down for one they would turn the lights off and say pyramid head was down there then not let me out (I'm the youngest of us three and also the only girl). Typical older brothers. I actually was so excited about the remake I texted my oldest brother about it and he said the first one ruined him. Then I couldn't stop thinking about those creepy babies... *shiver
SH 2 is a masterpiece as it reflects on human psychology in an very realistic and relatable way. Everyone finds a piece of himself in James. That's why you care for him so deeply as you rarely do with any other video game characters.
I had never played a silent hill game until the 2 remake. Decided to give it a try and wow. I was amazed and absolutely terrified the entire time. I’ve decided to go back and play the originals to see what I’ve been missing out on. Just beat SH1 and am almost done with SH3. I think I’ll play SH4 after this and then maybe I’ll try origins or shattered memories or downpour.
Awesome! So many people say they want to play the old Silent Hill games but don't do it. Pretty much any computer will play them. SH4 might be my favorite
Play the original SH2, is much better. The other games that came after Team Silent have things to appreciate about them but they are not good, 4 is a mixed bag in some things but not bad at all and is very creepy.
@@CabezasDePescado would you recommend any of the non team silent games? Seems that people like shattered memories and origins okay, just not sure I want to spend money on buying a psp off eBay to play them
SH3 stuck with me as the scariest, mostly because of the terrifying atmosphere and visuals. Seriously, that otherworld hospital freaked me the hell out in that game and even just entering rooms that had monsters gave me a heart attack
I personally find the first Silent Hill game to be the scariest. The muddy PS1 graphics and janky controls made me a nervous wreck throughout the entire game, and I thought the story was one of the darkest of the series. I like the stories of the Team Silent sequels better, but I found them more intriguing than actually scary.
Funnily enough, Pyramid Head wasn't suposed to appear in Homecoming, the responsible for that was KONAMI.Homecoming is still a fine game for me tho Also despite most monsters in Origins symbolizing things about Alessa, Travis has some monsters of his own too, the most obvious being his father and mother. The Butcher is his "pyramid head" , there's a monster that represents the animals he roadkilled and we also have the "twoback", a really disturbing monster that representshis lack of... "love"
The funny thing in this video that people need to realize is the fact that at the end of the day, Silent Hill 2 is still the winner when it comes to both psychological horror in terms of story and physical horror as well due to fighting the monsters.
@ I played the originals when I was a kid and Homecoming wasn’t that bad. It seems to be a trend to hate on the game, and it’s getting cliche. I was one of the few people looking forward to the SH 2 remake while everyone was hating on it and wishing for its downfall. I don’t really care though because most “fans” have only watched play through videos and not actually played the games.
@ ive played the originals more times than i care to mention. Homecoming and downfall are awful, same for the films. Some will disagree but they are a million miles away from the original 4. I dont hate to hate..they are Ok at best for a standalone title, piss poor for a sh game. I cant defend Homecoming, whilst downpour was slightly better but still poor.
This is exactly why I stated we all interpret horror differently. I thought Homecoming to be a really weak Silent Hill game and horror game, but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
Shattered memories gets waayy too much praise. While homecoming gets way too much hate. While exploring you knew you were safe, up until the world changes into a frozen landscape. The scripted horror events running corridor trying to find the right door over and over again was ridiculously annoying. Story was good , but man. The game as a whole wasn’t. Homecoming had decent combat, the fact that they refined the combat was welcomed. Instead of honking Eddie on the head over and over again. The enemy design was top tier, the bosses were the best in the series. The voice acting was good. The only lacking part was the story. Pretty much a retread of 2. But as a whole a damn fine game and much better than its reputation.
Man, I love 4. I really hope they remake it, it deserves the love! I think all these mainline SH games deserve the RE treatment, honestly. Downpour and Homecoming could have been amazing games.
Silent Hill 4 was so underrated. Absolutely loved the creepiness of it. It was also the first SH I've ever played. SH 2 remake was a masterpiece! I loved it!
Homecoming’s opening level scared the crap out of me , and homecomings bosses were the best in the franchise. The shark monsters were absolutely devastating and scared the crap of me. Downpour has one of the coolest intro areas . The mine car taking you to hell was awesome
pt shouldve won, the duck and weaves close combat In Silent Hill 2:R felt more adrenalic and triumphant. Its more comforting than scary, the most nerve racking thing I have came across is unironically James saying "you'd better do something about that cough" in the maria ending which sounded more haunting in the original
Homecoming is underrated. Yes it has many flaws but i really liked the monsterdesigns and most of then have the theme of motherhood. Also Alex is NOT a soldier as revealed at the end.
The thing about the remake not being scary is the camera. Third person camera gives you control to see around, fixed camera angles were better for tension and not knowing what's around the corner and the feeling that you're being watched.
SH1 is the sweatiest my palms have ever been playing a game, especially the elementary school level but it hasn't aged well. I went back and played it recently and ended up laughing at the hammy voice acting. I'd love to see a remake of the original.
To be fair, there are only two enemy models repeated in Homecoming from pervious games. Most of the monster designs are completely original. Now Homecoming had its flaws, and I agree that it's definitely the least scary of the the franchise, but it is leagues above and beyond Downpour in its level design and narrative.
I strongly agree with you about 4, out of the classic four, The Room is the one that truly needs a remake the most. It has so many cool and unique things going for it but at the same time it’s brought down by so many issues, I still love 4 a ton despite its issues but a remake, if done well could turn it into an all-time great, I’d kill for a 4 remake dude.
Silent hill 2 remake scared the hell out of me but I’m a huge baby when it comes to supernatural stuff and I’m getting pretty old and find it harder to play the same type of stuff as when I was a kid
P.T Silent Hill is the greatest horror game I have played, and it’s not even a full game. The fact that people are still talking about a full game is crazy…
@@earthpart3 I’ve played the entirety of Visage and the first two chapters were definitely very terrifying. But I personally think P.T. was just a tad bit scarier. I’ve played A LOT of horror games and P.T. is still to this day the only horror game that scared me so bad I needed to take a break from playing it. There were sections of P.T. where I was actually shaking in fear due to how immersive the atmosphere was.
I really liked the Orphan games on mobile and played all 3 years ago. I think they were worth playing and have fond memories of the experience, but I wished they were longer.
Yea, SH3 was always the creepiest to me personally. If it ever does get remade, one thing that could be fun would be having randomized effects akin to the NG+ versions of some areas where they get bloody and creepy, but instead have it be unpredictable so that one moment you're going through a darkened hall and everything gets that diseased look, but then changes back to make it feel like you're losing grip on reality. As for SH2 vs its remake, it really does just come down to preference I have to say. The original did some things better, but the remake found some really creative changes that help make it feel like a fresh take and not just the 2001 classic with prettier visuals. The combat and resource management definitely are much better, especially as you have to start fresh in every run and can't stockpile things like in the original. Surprised there wasn't a mention for Short Message, not that it deserves much beyond a "yea, it exists" if you ask me. The monster design was pretty great, but damn if the experience itself was pretty forgettable given the main character looks like she got lost on her way to the next Life is Strange title.
Dang, I totally forgot about Short Message! My bad. Anyway, I like your thought about SH3 and if that game gets a remake down the road. It would be awesome to see some randomized effects in NG+ to give some additional variety
thank you! as someone who is older than the franchise and experienced it from the very beginning, people don´t realize that Sh2 isn´t the best in everything and it felt (at the time, and alongside the mindset of the player base, genre, etc) kinda a lackluster sequel and especially not that scary beyond the depth of the characters and the psychological aspect. have to replay the 4 ogs again (and the remake) but Sh1 & SH3 for me were always the scariest titles.
I've never quite gotten how 3 would be among the scariest. Just never did it for me. The room on the other hand has lingered in my dreams for over a decade already. I've literally dreamt of the succubus talisman hole in my wall and getting out only to be executed by Walter. I was only 11 when I first played it. Now I'm 27. Walter made me afraid of my own reflection while being alone. 😂🌚🤤🤕
Am i the only one that has noticed that with games like Layers Of Fear for example people often call them walking simulators as an insult and often talk about that they are not scary because you just walk around and spooky stuff happens and you never need to worry about getting killed by anything but when people talk about P.T people say that its one of the scariest games ever made and P.T is exactly that kind of a game?
Damn, I loved Homecoming! I don’t get why it gets so much hate other than the fact it’s American made. And the trashing on it for using the Nurses and Pyramid Head is fine! It’s in the lore that these monsters once created from someone’s trauma can stick around and haunt others. This is why most characters see undead dogs, bugs and the nurses, those aren’t just for James, they are from Alessa and almost anyone in the town can be haunted by her traumas monsters.
Huh. Didnt know you were immortal durring charged attacks in sh4. I always felt vulnerable durring a wind up, resulting greater tension and causing me to use it less. Sort of the inverse of the complaint found here. Sh4 remains my favorite, followed closely by 3.
Good call. SH2 is probably my favorite game of all time, of any genre. The remake is a beautiful love letter to that masterpiece but man I have NEVER been so scared playing a game. Sometimes I can only go 20 minutes or so at a time before I just get too freaked out to continue- and I'm not even at what people are saying is the scariest part (the prison) yet! In short, I agree wholeheartedly with your ranking.
This is pretty much my list as well lol with the exception of SH4 and SH2 swapped but I have gone back and forth with it. SH3 has always been my favorite but after playing the SH2 remake I was blown away. I really would love to see bloober remake 3 so bad but after SH2R they have a lot of work to live up too after making SH2R and you're not out of your mind, pretty much everyone i talked too loved the remake better than the OG. Sure there is OG fans but there is a lot of remake fans out there. Toluca Prison was very creepy for me, I will say though the experience is pretty different if you are not using a headset. If you want the best experience possible please do yourself a favor and use a headset especially at night with the lights out lol. I have a 3d audio headset and it made the whole experience intense.
The era the game came out is worth considering. Back in the day PS1 hill was something completely new and we thought graphics were state of the art. It's not particularly scary now but it was then. 2 is more despair than scare. Tbh for actually creeping me out nothing beats playing Fatal frame at 1am in the morning.
PT's full game would have been the scariest Silent Hill game ever made, but since it never came out, I'll go with Silent Hill 3 as the scariest one of them all, followed by 2. I would love to say Silent Hill 1 is the scariest or one of the scariest games ever made, but the PS1 hardware truly has made it and Resident Evil 1 be taken less seriously as time has gone on and they no longer are that scary. It's due to this that Silent Hill 1 really needs a remake in a similar vein as the Resident Evil 1 remake.
Enjoyed them all to differing degrees. 100% completed them all. Except 4. Turned it on 1 time at like 2 or 3 am during a thunderstorm. Watched the into and noped out. Immediately deleted it from my nodded Xbox. 😂
Silent Hill 4 is so Overhated by the Silent Hill Community for some reason. I Love Silent Hill 4, its the Scariest one and the last Great Silent Hill game. So Im glad they gonna remake Silent Hill 4, people need to realize that this game is amazing.
My SH terror based story gameplay atmosphere 1. SH 4 2. SH 1 original 3. SH 2 4. SH2 remake 5 SH Orgins 6 SH homecoming 7 SH downpour 8 Shattered memories I’ve gotten only Silent Hill orphan in 2010 on my Nokia I believe it was. Pretty cool actually . Number two Hill one that I played through it, but it was so damn hard because I was screaming and jumping every turn granite probably because of the graphics but again it was such a great play through and it terrifies me till this day Silent Hill two is my top third scariest silent Hill for me to play and the remake is nowhere near the creepy factor personally but you know they still did really good on the atmosphere and the hardness of the combat of the monsters and two remake is really what gets me again my husband’s playing it cause I just I can’t do it Silent Hill 33 is one of my favorites, but I have to say it might be the least bit terrifying for me, but it still had some times where I was freaked out, but I could play through it with no problem This is where we diverge homecoming. I actually enjoyed homecoming a lot, but you are right. Something about it just was not silent Hill, but did the creepy child sacrifice evil parents storyline was the part that I found? Interesting but yeah. Ones down for shattered memories, and those did nothing for me honestly
Interesting. I was prepared to write a disagreement but this is exactly how I would rate all the games. Good taste sir. SH2 R. really knocked it out of the park though. Left my stomach in knots a lot of the time.
Wait I actually was very scared playing Silent Hill: Homecoming. Like... it does a lot of things wrong, but it's not the least scary one on my list. I think that title goes to Shattered Memories for me. I still liked the game a lot.
I played the Escape, one of my first iPod touch apps I bought. Wasn’t scary but it was lo-fi and just kind of slender man-esque in trying to navigate with the touch pad controls, but had a gun to shoot. Scariest was 3, 2 remake was pretty up there though, with OG being third and the room being 4th.
Hmmm I've played Silent Hill 1, 2, 2 remake, 3, 4 and 5. I can tell SH2 Remake is veeery scary compared to the original SH2. SH2 and SH2R are my favorite SH games. Still, I feel like SH4 was the scariest because of the impotence feeling of being trapped in a room, the corrupted room with all kind of noises, Walter chasing you with a gun, the immortal ghosts, the twin victim mobs... I mean there are a lot of reasons for me 🙃 And by the way I've never been able to finish Silent Hill 3 because it felt boring for me. Not scary at all.
I played the Silent Hill 2 Remake and beat it a little over a week ago. It was my first Silent Hill game and I decided to check it out because the reviews were excellent and I loved the game I hope we get a Silent Hill 1 Remake and Silent Hill 3 Remake next
I haven't played the remake yet, but I highly doubt I would find it scarier than the original game and the other ones I played. Over the shoulder 3rd person is the least scary camera angle for survival horror. The atmosphere also seems very different from what I have seen (It looks more like the Last of Us)
There are many nurses throughout the series that you fight, but some have different iterations. The nurses used in Origins and Homecoming are the ones from Silent Hill 2 (bubblehead nurses), whereas the ones in Silent Hills 1 and 3 were unique to those games
The original SH is still just as scary today and definitely scarier than the SH2 remake. The SH2 remake is cool and game of the year but it's definitely not better than the original 3 SH games.
I didnt like the very first sh game thought it was clunky etc but i do love playing origins, 2, 3, 4 i dont find them scary just really good to play even with headfones n playing in the dark. Didnt like sh homecoming at all or even downpour coz of the amount of glitches to the game, i avent played the sh2 remake ill keep playing the originals not into remakes not paying £500 quid for a ps5 for just to play remake games

I found the hotel especially to be a really creepy area, so was the prison. And in general even if I didn't think it was the greatest Silent Hill game, I just loved it as a horror game.
I would say downpour for me was easily the least scary. It felt like you were just fighting generic zombie looking dudes the whole time
I'm conflict it on where I put the remake because as far as level design and atmosphere and art direction. It absolutely nails being creepy and uneasy and even taps into some of that oppressive feeling when you're in the other world that I'm talking about how silent Hill 3 felt like to me
But there's so much combat. So all of the enemies that creeped me out the most become a nuisance rather than a threat at a certain point You get too used to it.
Love the commentary! What are your thoughts on Silent Hill 4: The Room?
SH3 and Fatal Frame 2 to this day are still the only two games that legit scared the hell out of me. SH3 esp.
I really should look into Fatal Frame. Never got into that series so I'll look into picking some of the remasters up when they're on sale
Is Fatal Frame 2 scarier than 1? I heard 2 is the best in the series, so I am thinking of starting with it instead of 1.
@@Mr.Ditkovich.yes I agree that 2 is scarier than 1 . Start with that. Its my favorite.
@@Mr.Ditkovich.
It's better to play them in order.
Fatal Frame trilogy is a must play survival horror games.
@RedouaneArabi-g4o I will play the first one too, but I like to start with the better games, especially if the plot is not a continuation.
The first Silent Hill,is the scariest!
Can definitely see that. For me, I think 3 does it a bit better. The otherworld especially in 3 is like 1 cranked to the max.
But 1 also has that low poly grit to it, and the OST is really really oppressive.
I do want to add that shattered memories wasn't only on the wii, it played and looked better on the PS2
Thanks for that!
Silent Hill 3 is still to this day the only game that has made me take breaks from playing because it's so unsettling and oppressive. And no, that's not only the first playthrough thing as the same thing happened when I last played the game two years ago.
The most horrifying game of all time.
Same with SH4 for me.
Definitely the scariest of the first 4 for me, no doubt 💯
I think 4 is by far the scariest. I think I agree with the list, just swapping the top 2. Walking around the room is terrifying by itself, but with it starts doing scares in the room…I can’t keep going lmao
The room haunts are crazy!
They should remake all the games
I'd buy them all 😂
I got into Silent Hill very recently following the remake, and I have never been as genuinely on edge playing a videogame as I have creeping in Toluca prison and seeing a red-lit Pyramid head in a dark hallway
They nailed the atmosphere! Incredible what they did in the remake...
The decent from the historical society in the Silent Hill 2 Remake filled me with dread the whole way. If there is a hell, that's what I'd imagine it to be.
For real...
I still remember the time I played sh3 for the first time. This was right after I played 2 and 4. The feeling of dread I experienced when I saw the nightmare version of the hospital was unlike any other game. Those red, pulsating walls scared the sh*t out of me.
For real! Now imagine that in a remake...
Downpour and Homecoming are both amazing. I miss both
P. T was very interesting, but Silent Hill should not be first person, ever...
Glad you agree. I personally don’t understand the desire for SH in 1st person
Nothing wrong with that! Did your brothers find the games scary when they played them?
Kickass video btw
Awesome! So many people say they want to play the old Silent Hill games but don't do it. Pretty much any computer will play them. SH4 might be my favorite
@@nothingelse1520 I downloaded 4 to my steam deck and will start that as soon as I finish 3 tonight! I’ve heard it’s terrifying
Pterodactyls were weid
Funnily enough, Pyramid Head wasn't suposed to appear in Homecoming, the responsible for that was KONAMI.Homecoming is still a fine game for me tho
Also despite most monsters in Origins symbolizing things about Alessa, Travis has some monsters of his own too, the most obvious being his father and mother. The Butcher is his "pyramid head" , there's a monster that represents the animals he roadkilled and we also have the "twoback", a really disturbing monster that representshis lack of... "love"
That's a good point! I remember when playing Origins and seeing The Butcher for the first time, thinking this monster was just a skin for Pyramid Head
The funny thing in this video that people need to realize is the fact that at the end of the day, Silent Hill 2 is still the winner when it comes to both psychological horror in terms of story and physical horror as well due to fighting the monsters.
4 give me actual nightmares i couldn't actual finish it 😅
So will always be the scariest for me!
SH Homecoming had some great boss designs; some really disturbing concepts. It’s a shame you didn’t mention that.
We don't talk about that abomination.
Silent hill 4 takes the cake, especially after you find Eileen, the game becomes a nightmare, there is no safe spot you just want the game to be over
Silent Hill 4 was so underrated.
PT could have been one the scariest pieces of media ever made
Also thanks for the video! 😁
Really hoping for a remake of SH1!
SH4 was my first SH game and it scared the shit out of me. I barely slept at night when I played it. So it deserves a remake.
Silent hill 2 remake scared the hell out of me but I’m a huge baby when it comes to supernatural stuff and I’m getting pretty old and find it harder to play the same type of stuff as when I was a kid
All the original games deserve a remake.
Homecoming takes it's Nurses from Silent Hill the film. Not SH2. It's normal to have nurses in SH games as they have always iconically appeared in 1-3
P.T Silent Hill is the greatest horror game I have played, and it’s not even a full game. The fact that people are still talking about a full game is crazy…
Madison and visage
@@earthpart3 Just finished Madison in VR. About to start Visage. Looking forward to it!
I beat book of Memories online with a buddy when I had a Vita, it's aiight. I enjoyed it well enough.
the remake of 2 is the scariest game i’ve ever played.
I always think silent hill 3 was genuinely the most disturbing and scary.
I really liked the Orphan games on mobile and played all 3 years ago. I think they were worth playing and have fond memories of the experience, but I wished they were longer.
I appreciate you sharing that
Yea, SH3 was always the creepiest to me personally.
I agree with you 100% on sh2r
People who think the original SH2 is scarier than the remake have some very rose tinted glasses on.
People still talk about PT and to me that just says Konami really fumbled the bag.
thank you! as someone who is older than the franchise and experienced it from the very beginning, people don´t realize that Sh2 isn´t the best in everything and it felt (at the time, and alongside the mindset of the player base, genre, etc) kinda a lackluster sequel and especially not that scary beyond the depth of the characters and the psychological aspect. have to replay the 4 ogs again (and the remake) but Sh1 & SH3 for me were always the scariest titles.
💯
I've never quite gotten how 3 would be among the scariest.
Just never did it for me.
The room on the other hand has lingered in my dreams for over a decade already.
I've literally dreamt of the succubus talisman hole in my wall and getting out only to be executed by Walter.
I was only 11 when I first played it. Now I'm 27. Walter made me afraid of my own reflection while being alone. 😂🌚🤤🤕
Yeah, The Room definitely makes you look at your own home in a different way. I really appreciate what was done with that game!
4 wins IMO
Underrated comment! I'm dreaming to have that game get a remaster or a remake someday. At least we can play it on PC via GOG
Silent Hill 4 was my favorite of the first four!
Also they're not "demon children", they're called the Gray Children.
Downpour gets a lot of shit, but it's actually pretty good. I like how open it felt too.
Happy to hear you're enjoying the remake, too! They nailed the atmosphere, and yes... the prison is definitely the freakiest part of the game!
Well said! I agree, SH2R is much more intense with volume cranked up!
I hated S4 for the same reason of unkillable enemies. It just makes the game annoying. I dropped it 2 hours in
I actually quite loved Orphan 1 and 2 on Java based mobile.
I need to play those games
...SPOOKYRICE IS THAT YOU?
Silent Hill 4 is so Overhated by the Silent Hill Community for some reason. I Love Silent Hill 4, its the Scariest one and the last Great Silent Hill game. So Im glad they gonna remake Silent Hill 4, people need to realize that this game is amazing.
Madison VR is easily the scariest game ever made
My SH terror based story gameplay atmosphere
1. SH 4
2. SH 1 original
3. SH 2
4. SH2 remake
5 SH Orgins
6 SH homecoming
7 SH downpour
8 Shattered memories
I’ve gotten only Silent Hill orphan in 2010 on my Nokia I believe it was. Pretty cool actually .
Number two Hill one that I played through it, but it was so damn hard because I was screaming and jumping every turn granite probably because of the graphics but again it was such a great play through and it terrifies me till this day
Silent Hill two is my top third scariest silent Hill for me to play and the remake is nowhere near the creepy factor personally but you know they still did really good on the atmosphere and the hardness of the combat of the monsters and two remake is really what gets me again my husband’s playing it cause I just I can’t do it
Silent Hill 33 is one of my favorites, but I have to say it might be the least bit terrifying for me, but it still had some times where I was freaked out, but I could play through it with no problem
This is where we diverge homecoming.
Sh4 was the creepiest the fuckin twins scared the shit outta me
You must not have actually played Homecoming, because Alex isn't actually military at all...
I appreciate that info on Escape! It's interesting to see all these spinoff titles that have fallen into obscurity
The actual list starts here 19:24
Im going with 4. But then if you skip all the notes and writing you prob missed it all.
I think P.T. was more anticipation than dread or being scary it was like waiting to see what western horror trope was next and at times predictable.
2 remake is scarier than 2 but its not as scary as 1,3,4
Brother really wants us to comment on this video
Hmmm I've played Silent Hill 1, 2, 2 remake, 3, 4 and 5.
I can tell SH2 Remake is veeery scary compared to the original SH2. SH2 and SH2R are my favorite SH games.
Still, I feel like SH4 was the scariest because of the impotence feeling of being trapped in a room, the corrupted room with all kind of noises, Walter chasing you with a gun, the immortal ghosts, the twin victim mobs... I mean there are a lot of reasons for me 🙃
And by the way I've never been able to finish Silent Hill 3 because it felt boring for me. Not scary at all.
I played the Silent Hill 2 Remake and beat it a little over a week ago. It was my first Silent Hill game and I decided to check it out because the reviews were excellent and I loved the game
I hope we get a Silent Hill 1 Remake and Silent Hill 3 Remake next
Fingers crossed!
I haven't played the remake yet, but I highly doubt I would find it scarier than the original game and the other ones I played. Over the shoulder 3rd person is the least scary camera angle for survival horror. The atmosphere also seems very different from what I have seen (It looks more like the Last of Us)
Silent Hill 1 was the only one that was actually scary ... but ... maybe you had to be there.
weren't the nurses in every silent hill game? cause in the footage for one you showed Harry fighting a nurse
The ones in Silent Hill 1 were Puppet Nurses, the ones he referred to are Bubble Head nurses
Except for 4 where they were replaced with burping patients
There are many nurses throughout the series that you fight, but some have different iterations. The nurses used in Origins and Homecoming are the ones from Silent Hill 2 (bubblehead nurses), whereas the ones in Silent Hills 1 and 3 were unique to those games
@@funmylife9248 didnt know that . Thank you sir +
@@funmylife9248 ah okay I get what you're saying thanks for clearing it up
My Ranking of the Scariest SH Games:
1.) SH3
2.) SH4
3.) SH1
4.) SH2
Book of memories is no silent hill..its just a random thing with silent hill brand
That's definitely how I see it
