This actually happened in another city just a couple of years ago. I believe in that case, was only one or two people that had actually created a surprisingly livable space within. One of the most surprising stories came out of New York City where within a decommissioned tunnel one homeless man had lived for years in a small space under a hatch in the ground. I don't see this as such a bad thing. In an emergency situation like homelessness, it seems like a harmless, safer option than sleeping on the streets or even shelters filled with struggling strangers. The idea of them causing damage or even a fire seems somewhat far fetched since it all looks like concrete to me.
I knew a guy who lived in one of these for years. Somehow he got a bunch of furniture in there, and was able to find 120v to wire an outlet into. It was a pretty nice place, for free rent. It was basically a faraday cage which kind of sucked as far as cellphone service was concerned.
Because people love to make fun of the homeless and blame safety concerns on them when they are never gonna stop trying to survive and nobody can take that away from someone. No way is a person trying to find shelter in a bridge going to collapse it, good grief. They don’t weigh nearly as much as the vehicles passing over it. Unless they are actually causing structural damage, I think we should leave them alone. Maybe there aren’t any shelters in that area, so do what you can to have one available for them.
A bridge collapse? Perhaps you should be more worried about the fact they have to live there in the first place. Secure those places, GET THEM HOUSING! What would happen? Do people really care about what would happen? How about making sure before you go to do the reporting that you have shelters in place to take them.
Unless you all created an alternative solution for them, why create a story about this? Now they will be displaced as the city will just close the space without these folks having another options The fact that they simply have to live like this in THIS nation is shameful at best!
How are people living in the crawl space gonna cause the bridge to collapse? They have been doing this forever. Shelters are over crowded and unsafe at times. They can't sleep on the street without being told to move. They are not bothering anybody, not breaking into a home or stealing. Why would this man expose these people who are just trying to live? He wasn't trying to help. He was concerned about his own safety. Smh. While you're exposing them how about following that up with here's a solution to this problem. Selfish.

Imagine how many of those are fellow veterans who have been wrtitten off and not helped by the Atlanta VA.
Ya'll are giving away one of the few safe places for the homeless to escape to.
My exact thoughts
Safe for who? Def not for the people crossing the bridge. It’s a safety risk.
@@ajohn502their shelter is a safety risk to you? I'm sorry their homelessness inconveniences you.
@@russellpeffer7736Some of these responses are quite ignorant. If they aren't a safety risk by doing what ever they are doing inside a structure that is meant to allow vehicles to safely passage a gap in the terrain, then you go ahead and describe to me what is going on inside so I feel safe to cross a bridge meant for travel. How about you house all these homeless people instead? Maybe if we didn't have so many illegal immigrants taking away the housing and funds, we could actually do something about this. I'm sure California and Oregon can give us some pointers on how to handle the homeless situation better.
Did you not hear what has happened? A fire started by them has caused a collapse already.
Don't want them there, give them a safe place to live.
Nope, all the money to Ukraine.
Here is an idea, why not build more cavities into infrastructures so homeless people can get out of the weather if they have no other option
I'm sure the bridge crawlspace is larger and nicer than many apartments.
Media being a rat...
Why do yall hate the homeless so bad??? Leave them alone!!!
Trust me I do leave them alone . I was homeless once them crazy mf come up to you and bother the hell outta you . This one dude kept telling me he Redrums kids and smelt like booze
They have nothing to say until someone says to help them. Watch now someone will comment here
Implement a 'Housing First Program' similar to Finland's approach to prevent situations like this from occurring in the first place. 👀
America's capitalist culture it too far removed to implement such a plan. We have the money, but we're lacking compassion.
@meems So true, and so sad.
It's sink or swim in America.
@@meems-ke1ebThis is true, Americans lack the empathy and social cohesion necessary for that to ever be a thing there
I like the part where they said they were "worried it could cause a bridge collapse similar to the one in 2017".
Leave these people alone. They have nothing as it is.
This has actually been going on since around 2003-2006.
It goes on every day and everywhere, even in Tallahassee.
That's a lie
How do you know this?
That’s a smart idea you have privacy and protection. The real problem tho is not him sleeping under the highway but the real problem is how did he get in this situation
This is because Atlanta decided to clear out where the homeless have been living since I was a little girl. You can’t just boot them with nowhere for them to go. So what the hell did they expect.
Your speaking about democrats come on democrats don't think much at all let's be honest
Im 69 living in van, on many wait-lists. I got tired of waiting and applied at an Apt i park close to. I noticed several apts empty! And the waitlist for these apts is closed! I saw 2 people moving out in one week. This happens everywhere. I hope i get approved even though the rent is over half of my social security ck
I don't see this as such a bad thing. In an emergency situation like homelessness, it seems like a harmless, safer option than sleeping on the streets or even shelters filled with struggling strangers. The idea of them causing damage or even a fire seems somewhat far fetched since it all looks like concrete to me.
This takes bridge troll to a whole new modern level.
This has been going on for decades.
No it has only been going on since Biden became president and gave away over a million houses to illegal immigrants so far and counting
Now I've seen them under the bridge, but never knew they were in a hole too.
I've seen that too but I guess our bridges don't have hatches. At least I haven't seen them.
Sounds like they care more about the bridge than the American citizens
Leave the homeless alone .give them shelter instead of hurrassing them.
Bridge house is better than no house .
I think going inside the bridge is smart and safe, It’s made of steel. They shouldn’t broadcast someone’s living situation, help them.
Sad that this Country has gotten to this. Will give Illegal immigrants shelter
Facts 💯
I knew a guy who lived in one of these for years. Somehow he got a bunch of furniture in there, and was able to find 120v to wire an outlet into. It was a pretty nice place, for free rent. It was basically a faraday cage which kind of sucked as far as cellphone service was concerned.
Wow
Like the kids that build their home inside a shopping mall.
Thats actually really cool. They should built windows into the side for them.
People seeking shelter? Criminals. Lets hear what Karen has to say about this evil intent.
I actually don't understand why this is/was a news worthy story....
Because people love to make fun of the homeless and blame safety concerns on them when they are never gonna stop trying to survive and nobody can take that away from someone. The need to survive at any and all costs! So maybe theres a solution we could come to as a country besides just putting it on the news for people to point and laugh and yell
What if it was you? Most of us r one pay check away and don't even see it.😢 this is the world we live in!

I like that the anchors acknowledged the problem isn't people going into those openings. It's people needing to go into them
Yea but then the black guy said some snarky comment to undermine her genuine one
THOSE ARE PEOPLE NOT RATS! THAT COULD BE YOUR FATHER in that situation.
@thepiolotmaster777 Very true, the Story of the good Samaritan is a Story I think many could learn from.
Leave them alone they're not hurting or stealing from nobody like the illegal immigrants are doing in NYC unless they are going to help them just leave them alone
Comparing a fire to humans is WILDLY STUPID
I don’t think the MSM could ever be called intelligent. They are parasites feeding off of the misery of others. They add no value to human existence; they simply feed off if it.
In the meantime, countries like Denmark are actually actively eradicating homelessness by doing something about it.
Homelessness needs to be addressed in America especially the kids and veterans ❤
😢 Help them find a place to live and help them pay for it then they won't have to live inside of a bridge. People are losing jobs left and right and they were already living paycheck to paycheck. A lot of us are one step away from a disaster.
A lot of us stay off drug, eschew prostitution and crime. And are doing well. Funny how that works. Personal responsibility is reliant on sobriety and morals. Not free needles and sad emojis.

@FUCK_ALL_UA-cam_MODERATORS It's not my job..It's the cities job..Either leave em alone and let em do their thing or provide em a place to stay..Stop herding em around from place to place..They already pushed em out from downtown, midtown and Buckhead..They're trying to just make em where they're out of sight out of mind but also control em at the same time.
Give them a $3k visa and a hotel room with a meal card! Oh, that's right, these are citizens who paid taxes at one time.
It's as if we need to stop sending billions to other countries when we have homeless and debt
Wait, wait, wait, so that bulky dude saw people crawling up into that space and he sent a woman to investigate? WTF Atlanta????
That's what I was thinking.
This is so sad and dangerous
It’s a risk they’re willing to take…. I say give them housing or leave them alone…it beats living exposed to the elements and dangers of others..
you just dont know how blessed you really are…
Yes going inside a bridge is hell.
@@thaddeusmcgrathThat bridge looks like a cozy fucking blanket next to a warm fire to me. One mans trash is anothers treasure. People are just so goddamn rude and inconsiderate and selfish and oblivious to the real world
I think this is great idea for new housing ideas. Incorporate housing in the hollow spaces on overpasses when building. Put some windows and make them tiny living for homeless.
If this was "news" about them living in this area 2 weeks ago, these news personnel have been living in a cave for the last 30 years. Or this post is WAY, WAY old!!!
Airbnb is getting creative these days.
Let them live in peace.
Nice to see the news anchors actually being kind about the homeless situation. Some are so heartless.
"they are aware of it" - but are choosing to do absolutely nothing to stop it.
I'd like to see what it looks like inside.
Stupid politicians...
Don't re-elect...
“Working to secure those locations” also means taking away these peoples’ shelter
A bridge collapse? Perhaps you should be more worried about the fact they have to live there in the first place. Secure those places, GET THEM HOUSING! What would happen? Do people really care about what would happen? How about making sure before you go to do the reporting that you have shelters in place to take them.
I bet they got squatter’s rights in there too.
leave them alone
@@mark-el7vjThey’re criminals, child.
🤣
Go after non Americans that are being funded by our taxes before putting your foot on fellow Americans. 👌🏽
Unless you all created an alternative solution for them, why create a story about this? Now they will be displaced as the city will just close the space without these folks having another options The fact that they simply have to live like this in THIS nation is shameful at best!
This has been going on.
Yea for 3 years since Biden gave away all our housing to illegal immigrants
How are people living in the crawl space gonna cause the bridge to collapse? They have been doing this forever. Shelters are over crowded and unsafe at times. They can't sleep on the street without being told to move. They are not bothering anybody, not breaking into a home or stealing. Why would this man expose these people who are just trying to live? He wasn't trying to help. He was concerned about his own safety. Smh. While you're exposing them how about following that up with here's a solution to this problem. Selfish.
Talk about out of touch. This news network should be ashamed of themselves. Tell me how have you helped these individuals
I wish people would stop playing like they are concerned about these homeless people, because they are not. They've never been homeless. 😢❤
Naw I haven't, I worked all my life , made good choices, stayed away from dope , and people who have no value...simple that easy..when you want better , you do better , stop blaming your lacks of life on other people who have nothing to do with your situation
Governments just mad they can tax him or charge him rent
God bless these people 🙏🙏
Instead of complaining about the places the homeless sleep why not just simply open up buildings for homeless to sleep in doesn't have to be fancy and cost a ton of money just some free basic shelter to help these people off the streets
Leave that dude alone. He found the best hiding spot and you guys ruined it.
They cold, wtf people expect? There's barely any shelter options for homeless people.

People simply cannot afford a place to live anymore! High property taxes has driven many out of affordable rent and made many homeowners lose their homes!!!Our cities and counties created this problem in the first place!!
Same thing is happening in Vegas.
