There’s a ton of redbreast sunfish here in Huntsville. Indian Creek and Pinhook Creek have quite the big ones. Very colorful during the summer. I often mistaken them for bluegill sometimes. Same body shape almost.
I remember as a ¨ youngun ¨ , my older brother took my pop and myself to a spillway as such in West Georgia . where there were catfish on one side of the spillway and white crappie on the other side . A truly memorable couple of days . I can not even find the spot anymore . Of course that was fifty years or so a go .
Nice catch! Small fries! But hey it's the thrill of catching one I live in san antonio If u can ..can I have the location Especially for taking my grandkids! Thanks! Enjoyed your video
Agh I missed you passing through. Awesome bucks. It amazes me how people have them beasts sitting on their front lawn, in the city! Great catches! I love that spot. Thanks for sharing your travels🥰
John, I could watch you fish all day. Your videos should go on and on. I love when the kid in you comes out, know matter what you're catching. Beautiful bucks
Seems like everyone wants to go fishing with you. I don't blame them. You are a fish magnet and fun too. Maybe some of these fishermen would pay you for being able to go fishing with you for a day. If not money they could pay you in Doritos and Mountain Dew. ROTFL. God bless and Happy Fishing.
We used to have a river like that on the west side of Fort Worth, Texas in the late '60s before they channelized it. It's not worth s#it now but was marvelous in its day. I learned ultralight fishing there. We could land most everything we hooked but occasionally something would empty our spool and we would never see what took our lure. It was beautiful too. It was lined with giant oaks.
@@adamsmith3996 Maybe not right now but from Metroplex to the Hill country down to Houston omg its brutal from June through Sept. San Antonio is a two shirt day at the office, swapping at lunch.
Those were some nice bream. The St Johns river has the biggest bream overall out of any where I fish. Some of the redbreast there are in the 1 pound range. Redbreasts are my fav. kind of bream to eat, but there all good!
All those deers are so cool, hope they made it thru the season. Quite the tidal wave but the fish are great size. Beware of 🐍🐍🐍's good video have fun 🐟 & take care.
You guys were smoking the panfish near that spillway. And the Texas natives had a good showing bending the old fishing rod. I love casting for them when they don't require the floats bobbers and live bait. My brother would have been yapping a whitetail deer narrative instead of enjoying the bluegill and red breast. Thanks for sharing brother. Tight lines
Dang... Talk about a honey hole. I started following Derek's channel after you posted the 1st video with him. Just a couple days ago I watched an older video of his where he fished that spillway. It's a good spot.
The Redbreast is what it’s all about. Hello from Florida. They look good but I still don’t know if I’d eat them straight out of the water treatment plant water lol!
While you are in Texas come to Decatur and go to the grasslands. Would love to see you fish the little tanks I grew up fishing. You’d also like Jacksboro lots of bank and kayak opportunities beautiful clear water. It’s worth the trip up for sure.
A little bit on the Rio Grand cichlid The Rio Grande Cichlid, sometimes called the Texas Cichlid, is the only member of the Cichlid family native to Texas, and the United States. Their native range includes most of the Rio Grande drainage and south into northeastern Mexico, but they have been introduced throughout Texas, where they are well-established in the Edwards Plateau and coastal drainages eastward to Houston.
We plan on going to San Antonio this summer. I will have a few minutes to fish at the Guadalupe River. Please pray that I could catch a Guadalupe bass! It would be so cool!
If you ever get to Austin again, in the city there are canals and water ways. Jon b fished there and caught some nice fish in the city. Check it out. Good video John.
He,s not putting that little spot in the comments dude. There would be a hundred people there and garbage all over. Get on Google earth to find your own spots
The new circus attraction: Juggling With Cichlids! Coming to a big top near you! Thrill to the giant red ear! And the blue gill will certainly frighten the unitiated! Come one, come all!" Okay, I got carried away. Good day on the water!
My brother asked me to come and help him do some deer management at his lease past San Antonio last month. I had 17 bucks at my stand and took a 140lb 5 point.

Kudos to whoever is managing hunting in Texas. The deer look healthy too.
Wardens out here do not play any games that’s for sure
That was awesome John. Those bucks were so big, and i didn't realize how big until you zoomed in. I love that spillway, never fails.
OH MY!!! If I had a place loaded with pan fish like that anywhere close I would be going at least every week!! AWESOME!!
