Watching in 2023, I still have a Canon 60D I’ve had since 2011. Still an awesome camera!! Trying to get back into the hobby of photography. Thanks for the great video!❤️
Excellent video! Taught me just what I needed to know to shoot video with my D-60. I've looked at 3 instruction videos before, and they all give instructions, but only tell you what settings to use, then you see them maneuvering their thumbs on the back of the camera without being able to tell for sure what buttons they're pushing. Your video was very clear, concise, and easy to follow. Kudos! 👍👍👍
Hi Jacob Bunn. I just watched this video and it's super good. Please, is it the same Canon you're using for all your videos that's making them look so brighter and still?
Yeah so almost every video on my channel was shot with the canon 60D and then the last few have been on the canon 80D! I’d say the lenses you get make the biggest difference. Thanks for watching my video!
Hello Jacob awesome to see another 60D video. The lens that I use is a Sigma wide angle for some of my videos what are your thoughts on Sigma lenses for the 60D thanks and I look forward to seeing your next video soon 👍👍👍👍
Hey thanks man, I think sigma lenses can be great for any camera, I personally don’t have much experience with them but I’ve heard great things. I need to look into a really wide lens pretty soon myself!
I think you’re on to the good stuff. If I were you I would raise your shutter speed for photography even more than you’re suggesting. You should at least double your focal length. If you triple even quadruple your shutter speed in some situations. You will notice that your picture quality and improves drastically
I own a 60d and a t3i for the past 7 years. I too feel that they are both very capable cameras. They start to fail in low light, the 60d being the worse of the two for low light. I watched your video saying to keep the 60d for 2020. I will probably run mine until it dies. With that being said, the newer cameras have a better jpeg engine, better focusing etc. but I started Shooting on a Yashica FX-2000 Super. So none of that is really important in the grand scheme of things. I think you’re shooting from what you say in this video with two low of a shutter speed generally speaking. This is why you say you don’t like going above 1600iso. I think in many circumstances, in order to get the correct shutter speed, you will be 3200 or 6400 iso. I remember starting out using low shutter speeds to keep my iso low, but when I sped it up, it actually made color and contrast much much better even though I used a higher iso. There are post processing techniques to deal with the noise/grain. The 80d, even though that is a couple years old now, is probably leaps and bounds better in the department. I’ve seen people post photos with that camera at 12800 even 25600 iso that was better than the 60d noise at 3200 or 6400. With all this being said, learning to use a flash correctly makes most of these problems disappear altogether. But most folks want a camera that can handle the ISO’s and not have to deal with the external flash. Learn to use a flash if you don’t know how and you can shoot with a 50 year old camera and blow an inexperienced user with a brand new camera away. By the way, I still love my 60d and have no intention of getting rid of it. P.S. one of my main points is to not be afraid of high iso. Use post production tools to fix that. Don’t be afraid to use the 60d at 3200.
Thanks for taking the time to share that. I definitely will give the higher iso a shot, yeah I love the 60D too but agree about the noise. I think it’s been great for learning with a few limitations, couldn’t agree more about inexperienced users with super nice cameras, I feel like it makes more sense to invest in learning rather than endless gear and camera bodies.
Yeah, so an nd filter sort of works like sunglasses for your camera. It allows you to keep your settings at the best possible for a shot. So for example if it is too bright out you put it on and can get the shot exposed correctly! Thanks for watching my vid Victoria
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch! I actually have never done that before but here is a thread of people offering solutions on how to do it: www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2936714
Please my camera is giving me troubles these days. whenever I on it, it tells me the battery is empty mean while it's not so. It also tells me Eror and further tell me busy anytime I try any button to operate. Please I need urgent help now.
Hey man I personally have a lot of experience with the 60D and it’s been great for me, I have heard good things about the D5300 but if you’re asking me I’d say the 60D is a bit better!
Hey Jacob, any recommendations for budget external mics for the 60d? I've tried a non powered one but get terrible noise. Will a powered mic with +10db help? Or is there a save for a mic like a rode mini mic?
I personally use this mic for a lot of my audio: amzn.to/2EesdRq and it’s super affordable and surprisingly good. I’d suggest it for starting then save for something down the line.
ALSO make sure you're up to date to the latest software (1.1.2) because there is a BIG fix for zoom lens bugs in that update for the sensor's ability to adjust the focus properly.
It may be that your settings have been adjusted before, so you could reset them all to default and then change your settings to what I usually think works best!
No worries, make sure your camera is in video mode, then you hit the “Q” button on the 60D and go down to the last option and select “1920 30” hope that helped!
I totally understand the struggles with it, it’s definitely not perfect haha. Glad you are giving it another shot though, if you work at it you can still pull beautiful images out of the camera. Thanks for watching!

Hey means a lot Chase I’m glad I helped out in a way. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
hi is it good to use 50mm lens
Hey thanks for watching, yes I’m a big fan of the 50mm 1.8 lens, I’d say it’s my most used lens!

Hey I’m glad I could help, thanks for taking the time to watch
Can you explain more about the ND filter/why it is important to have? Unless you already have a video on it :)
Yeah, so an nd filter sort of works like sunglasses for your camera. It allows you to keep your settings at the best possible for a shot. So for example if it is too bright out you put it on and can get the shot exposed correctly! Thanks for watching my vid Victoria
After putting on the grid, I went ahead ti hit the Q button it didn’t hit
I have a question does this come in battery or do u gotta charge it?
It comes with one battery, you can also order extras on sites like Amazon for pretty cheap!
Hello..how do i put timestamp/date on my photos using canon eos 60d?
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch! I actually have never done that before but here is a thread of people offering solutions on how to do it: www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2936714
Hi what specific memory card to be used in 60d?
I’d just suggest a high speed one!
super helpful!
Appreciate you brother!
can i take video with 30fps for a little slow motion ?
Yep that’s what I personally do every time I shoot! It works pretty well, if you’re editing in FCPX you show your footage down to 80%
Watching, coz still using 60d
Impressive🤩👍🏻😎
Thanks man!
Hi, i have an issue with my 60d, unable to see the red light which highlights to see where its focused on. Any idea how to set this?
Hmmm red light? Could you explain a little more, I’m having a hard time picturing what you’re talking about
Please my camera is giving me troubles these days. whenever I on it, it tells me the battery is empty mean while it's not so. It also tells me Eror and further tell me busy anytime I try any button to operate. Please I need urgent help now.

hi, why my settings in my 60d is different in yours?
It may be that your settings have been adjusted before, so you could reset them all to default and then change your settings to what I usually think works best!
Kinda late to this video, but when you said to choose RAW it won’t let me scroll over to the icon raw?? Why is that
Maybe try the top scroll wheel? I’m not quite sure. Also make sure you’re in manual setting
bro i literally cant find 30fps option on my canon 60d, pls help im so confused
No worries, make sure your camera is in video mode, then you hit the “Q” button on the 60D and go down to the last option and select “1920 30” hope that helped!
Jacob Bunn ah no worries man, thanks for the reply, i just had to go in settings and change somethign with the video format
ありがとう
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Yet to find someone who explains these things while showing you how/where to find the settings in the camera. Nice video otherwise.
Price
Depends where you look. I’d say it’s $350 on average
I use 60 D is better i love it
It’s been great for me! Thanks for watching
for sport and action no les than 500 or 250 f the subject in running or flying towards you, I never go below 1000 for action shots, f 4
My 60d have a issues about lcd hahaha
Ooof that’s rough, what’s the issue?
I hate my 60d. But instead of gonna buy another mirrorless I'll just try to figure out mine
I totally understand the struggles with it, it’s definitely not perfect haha. Glad you are giving it another shot though, if you work at it you can still pull beautiful images out of the camera. Thanks for watching!
thanks mate
