This is an amazing set up. I live in Australia and flat beds (utes) are very popular purely for versatility. The number of options is huge and it’s a great set up for 4wd touring.

Chris is a walking encyclopedia of the best of the best regarding these van builds ! I love the 7.3 big block, but I won't give up the subdued Lamborghini sound of my E350 6.8 V10.
That’s a beautiful rig! Very interesting pivot style bed too. Would love something similar with just a hair longer cab section. But honestly that think might be perfection as is.
Amazing. What a dream machine. I love that covered-wagon canopy from V1, too. I'd use this to carry kayaks or my little boat out to lakes out West where I live and go camping and fishing. Absolutely love it, great work, I'll be daydreaming about this for a long time and wishing for a long lost rich uncle to leave me a fortune.
If you check out their page, you'll see that that's how it was originally built. He ended up pulling off the camper on the back and making it into a trailer. You can check out that here: ua-cam.com/video/JLlXETOouRQ/v-deo.html
That's almost as stupid as buying a jeep truck and then putting a camper shell on it, what's the purpose? Like some else pointed out your essentially turing it back in a van at that point. Lame.
Makes sense, for those of us not dripping in cash the used E series cab & chassis are much cheaper than used F series…. I’m actually getting ready to start a build with a used cab & chassis to make a DIY RV/self propelled THOW….
I have a 2012 cutaway with a 5.4 and also looked into swapping to the Godzilla by the time I was done its much easier to buy a new chassis and switch the supreme box over.. By a long shot
Noooooo don't ditch the TRITON 5.4 POWA BABY! 💪💪💪💪AMERICAN MUSCLE BRUH! You just gotta swap the cam phasers a few times, but SHES GOLDEN BABY! And then the rockers, BUT OTHER THAN THAT SUPREME POWER! 💪💪💪Well, might as well as do the oil pump while your messing with the cam phasers again, but WAHOO SCREAMIN EAGLES BABYYYY! (don't touch the spark plugs though, leave em for the next guy 😋)
My company just bought a 22 E-450 7.3 w/ 4.56 axel ratio, and even with the detuned 350 hp version the thing hauls the mail.. with a tune it would be down rite funny!
Cool looking rig. Just wondering what the advantage is to a van front? Seems like a lot of work to finish the back of the cab and convert it to 4x4 when you could just order a reg cab or super cab c&c F350 already 4x4 and build from there? Not knocking it just curious what the reason is? A shorter nose is about the only benefit I could think...
Overall length. You can have an 8 foot bed on a van chassis that is shorter than a short bed single cab pickup. In this era of absurdly long Super Duty crew cabs with tiny beds, it feels like the only way to get a useful truck that you can parallel park in a city.
Well, hopefully, you don't have to work on the engine often. So, that won't be as important. I think the big difference here is that the E- Series cab makes it where you can have a longer bed, without the added length of a truck. This thing is fairly nimble on the trail.
Well I clicked on the video just to find the answer to why would someone use a van instead of a truck? If something breaks in the middle of a storm you want to easily access it
Not that bad as it has hood from the inside, when you take stuff off there is lot of space up top,. Hard places to get to would be exhaust manifolds, the frame is on the way ,
That’s funny. I never would’ve made that connection. I actually didn’t even pick the music. It was essentially given to me by one of the other video editors at Driving Line. Basically, it was something that royalty-free and matched up with the cuts that we were going to use. I haven’t seen Top Gear since Clarkson left. Now, I don’t know if I should to keep it or convince people that I did it on purpose as an homage to Top Gear. 🤣

If you live in Australia, why is your text not upside-down?
I wish I could get you to send me a holden ute shell to the us
I like the design on our Utes, low to the ground for easy use. Here in the USA, pickup trucks are made too high for easy in and out.

To start my project, I went to the dealer and ordered a $50,000 truck. Good story, bro.
More like 35k. Most people don't know that you can still order an E series

I remember his first posts about this on Expo Portal like 10 years ago... always loved his design and concept. Awesome to see it come this far.
Beautiful, nice seeing the e350 chassis cab still used to this day
That is just one bad ass trail rig guys. Love that bed, again.
Thanks!
U Joint offroad is located just 20 mins from my house, those guys do amazing work!
That's awesome! Ujoint kills it every time. We are very lucky to be in the same state as they are.
This is the sickest van I’ve ever seen
Yes! Thanks!
Damn..... Ever since I was a late teen I thought a beast like this would be awesome. Very, VERY Cool.
Thanks!
After watching this, I can now say I am half-a- van fan! Badaxe rig👍
Thanks!!!
Please refrain from offensive Trans innuendos 🙁

Great looking ride
First time I've seen an E-Series that looks good.
Compare to new transits or sprinters E vans are tanks,
my work truck has that engine! its an absolute beast, best motor Ford has made in a long time
If I had to drive a van, this would be it! 🔥🇺🇸
You would be ok with being seen inside a Tran? 🤔
So sweet just growling as it goes down anywhere 😃
Yooo, u joint van owner here, Chris is a legend
Good interview. You asked all the questions the way I would have. Sweet rig too.
Thank you.
Kick ass build. Loved all the Uwharrie footage.
Best looking "Tr-an" I've seen...
Sickiest van ive seen👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I'm sure his friend is right next to him and very happy they dedicated the build to him that's beautiful guys never forget the good people we lose.
Amen 👍🏻
Always quality builds at Ujoint.
Nice i made my 2016 e450 it was originally a box truck for FedEx into an ac cab 16ft box dumptruck. The v10 has all the torque.
The u joint kits are nice too work with I installed one it was super nice
OK so that's super cool!!
Thanks for doing this video. U-Joint deserves the it.
Thanks!

Thanks! I still have the soft top, it may get reinstalled at some point!
I would put a truck camper on the back and overland this beautiful country from Virginia to California and Alaska to Florida.

So, you'd turn it back into a "van"?
That's almost as stupid as buying a jeep truck and then putting a camper shell on it, what's the purpose? Like some else pointed out your essentially turing it back in a van at that point. Lame.
Yeah the roofers got a point
I was thinking the same thing a camper on that thing would be rad, with the approach and departure angles you could get anywhere
I love it! Dream rig.
Awesome van. Is that a Dimebag sticker on the back window?
\m/ Getcha pull!
I thought he was gonna say Powerstroke and he whipped out the Godzilla! Hell yeah, that thing is sick nasty 🤘
Edit: And it's got King Shocks 😍
👊🏻👊🏻
Great video gave me a lot of ideas
Awesome platform 👍
That is sick! I want one!
Haven’t seen Vanaconda running around Asheville for a while. Didn’t know there was a new version.
Vanaconda has been gone a while, sold it in 2012!
U-Joint kills again!!! God I could only dream of owning a rig like that
👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome looking unit, well done!
This is super awesome to be honest 🤟🏼

Its a VUCK! Thats what we call our old 83' flatbed van.
I've been looking around for videos of cutaway van flatbeds and off roaders for a while, thanks! [starting video now]
Wicked beast
FORD BEAST 👍😉

@@ansv3340 Sorry, that whole comment was a joke lol
The mounting brackets for my flatbed on a 98 ram 2500 broke while off-roading with a full load of firewood.
Love U-Joint builds!
So awesome 👏🏻
You should build on on a kei van,I love kei vehicles so fun
Totally awesome
If you use Diablos Steel Demon blades you can easily use a circular saw to do the work now
Bro I so wish I could buy this from you. I need me one of these. I'd pay what you wanted too. Just love it. Great job
This is awesome
Cool, Soo Much better than a normal truck, Ford should make this or GM
I'm just wishing Ujoint Offroad did Chevies cause I like the 6.6L Duramax and other engines.
Sick ass build
That thing should pull like a tractor big block with 4.88 gear
Good good good good good good good good good good good
OK thanks so much 🙏
Needs a BANKS rear diff cover!
Thats cool !!!
Unimog 404S had all this in 1952. I run an OM606 with 300HP in it. Costs $5.000 .
Unimogs in the US are awesome but expensive.
Unimogs start at 200K , dollars and those that built in 70ties,
Awesome 😎
Monster Vuck!
I want it❗️
How much would it cost to have a van like this made with an extra cab like with a camper on the rest
The owner builds E-Series vans for a living. He also already had a good assortment of parts (including the bed) leftover from his last build.
Overall length. You can have an 8 foot bed on a van chassis that is shorter than a short bed single cab pickup. In this era of absurdly long Super Duty crew cabs with tiny beds, it feels like the only way to get a useful truck that you can parallel park in a city.
7:56, DimeBag!

Would a flat bed truck be better because it essentially the same think but has much more room to work on the engine?
Well, hopefully, you don't have to work on the engine often. So, that won't be as important. I think the big difference here is that the E- Series cab makes it where you can have a longer bed, without the added length of a truck. This thing is fairly nimble on the trail.
@@DrivingLine yeah I can imagine being seated nearly over the front axle makes it pretty easy to place versus a pickup with a long hood.
@@DrivingLine that makes sense 👍🏻 thanks
No one realizes the advantage of the approach angle a van has over a truck. Inches count more than you think in some situations
I would have guessed a van frame was narrower not wider?!
Yea, they’re wider so the engine can sit lower in the chassis, more interior space
@@ujointoffroad oh I see. Makes sense!
Sick truck! It means much more when it’s just the way you want it, if it were me I’d go with a 6.7 instead but still a great ride.
That engine isn’t available in the E series but it would be a monster if it was!
This should be a thing.
Dude that thing is bad ass, looks pretty bitchin too!!!
Is it called a vauck?
RIP Dimebag
That is the coolest fucking van I've ever seen. Wow, its perfect.
Thanks 👊🏻👊🏻
Mechanics hate working on vans, that platform better be super important
They lie )) working on the van is easier as it has that hood inside the cab. Unlike pickup truck , where cyl 4 is unreachable
Fu-Ken cooool!!!!
I build ya one but my body guy won’t fab the extension?
I’ll persuade him
@@ujointoffroad $$$$$$$$$ makes all the difference!
A tire with a thicker sidewall will eliminate a lot of the wandering at highway speeds those nitto tires allow.
I haven’t experienced that
This would be awesome to put a camper on the back of
whats the advantage of this over just buying a f350 without the bed?
Other than the cool factor??
He builds vans for a living. So, it's a great calling card for him.
god damn this van is fuckin sick!
How much yall think this build would be...? minus the trailer.
w o w . .😧😲😮
Ah yes, the vuck
Van motors are a pain to work on. I would of made it a flip front end like a semi first. Nice rig though.

It should be called a Vuck
what is the point of this vs a flatbed truck?
Chris owns a company (Ujoint Offroad) that specializes in Ford Vans. Making this is essentially great advertising for his company.
It’s vanalitious
My ears are cringing at the thought of cutting all that aluminum for the bed with a skilsaw and table saw. Nice build.
Yea! It was horrible! 😆
@@ujointoffroad
Even with hearing protection!!!!
So is it considered a tran
Not sure why you call it a van at this point, seems more like a single cab truck

That is a totally bitchin rig!
