There is no live version. Freddie was way too sick to perform already when the song came out. Even recording it was hard, especially since it’s a really hard song to sing. Brian wrote it and he wasn’t sure Freddie would be able to make it. Freddie said „I‘ll fucking do it darling“, downed his vodka, and nailed it. The urban legend goes he did it in one take, but another UA-camr (Marc Ajax) has analyzed the song and it doesn’t seem likely that the version they used was one take without any cuts. The whole vodka thing though has been retold by Brian May, so I find it credible.
Brian also wasn't sure that Freddie could sing the song in chest voice, Brian sung the demo in falsetto because it was difficult to sing the high part full chest voice. And you are correct that it wasn't recorded in one take, it's a multitracked song, but the line "on with the show" was in fact recorded in one take
marc ajax... lol, no need, all the facts about the song are already known plus on such a complex recording you can't use "one take vocals" or it would sound like crap(before protools era) a pro band like Queen wouldn't do such a useless irrelevant thing.
Freddie handled death like a legit gangster . Didn’t want any sympathy just wanted to make as much music as he could . Also shout out to the rest of the band and Fred’s inner circle for never leaking anything until Freddie decided to tell the world . RIP to the 🐐
As long as the younger generations continue to discover Queen, Freddy's show will forever go on. Never forgotten. Thanks for doing the job you are doing in reacting to rock and roll and all generas of music. Queen is at the top of the best.
One of my favs too. Its sad that his song "these are the days of our lives" was to his fans makes me cry every time. You could see how ill he was. R.I.P Freddie you are missed so much xxx
Yes he had a few songs that got him and everyone ready for when it was his time to go...... This song was really perfect for what was about to happen.... He will always be the greatest legend and yea he would be so proud of the band for still be playing..... He will forever be missed😢 I love Him and always will!💕💞
Freddie gets a lot of props for his amazing vocal performance and rightfully so but the song itself is fantastic. Brian is a terrific songwriter. I feel like Freddie's personality is overshadowing the great songwriting skills of each member of the band. All of them are in the Rock and Roll HOF of songwriters btw.
God, Freddie was beautiful. I love your reactions to Queen. You're very insightful, too. Freddie continued to work long into his illness. Thank you for your videos.
Freddie was so I'll by this time and not always able to record the way he wanted to. This is a phenomenal video tribute to Freddie. I still tear up because he knew he didn't have long. RIP Freddie.
Beautiful. I hope I never see it again. Too sad. I loved Freddie Mercury and I still do. Brian, John and Roger, I still offer you condolences. Rest Freddie. I hope you are feeling this resurgence of appreciation of your talent. Its beautiful to see these people who weren't even born in your heyday and here they are falling in love with you. Bless you Freddie Mercury.
“I’ll soon be turning round the corner now” 😭 You should really check out “Mother Love” - Freddie died before finishing it so Brian May had to record the last verse. Very tragic and worth a listen. A lyric video would suffice.
I love that the very end of this song they use clips from major songs from latest to earliest including the first thing Freddie ever recorded and ends with the baby crying. 😓
Another tid-bit about Mother Love; Brian re-wrote the final verse after Freddie died, with a tribute to Freddie. Freddie's very 1st recording was under the name Larry Lurex, called Goin' Back, written by the fabulous team of Gerry Goffin & Carole King (and available on UA-cam). Brian used (with King's permission), the 1st line Freddie ever recorded as the last line on his last recording. The line is; "I think I'm going back to the things I learnt so well in my youth."
Watched your first Queen reaction, where you did not know Freddie existed, and by this one you are already calling them by names and know the story! Nice. :)
I'm amazed by his vocal on this song every time I hear it. I always listen for any indication that he's at less than 100%, but I have yet to find one. INCREDIBLE.
This song was played when my aunt was laid to rest. Queen was her absolute favourite and when she was in hospital and knew she would die soon (she had battled cancer before and it came back, spreading quickly in inoperable locations), she asked her husband and her sister (my mom) to please do her this favour. So we blasted this song on max volume over the whole graveyard at her funeral, my aunt wanted Queen, so we made damn sure she'd hear it 💞 A couple of years later, it has become somewhat of a family tradition to crank the volume extra hard whenever a Queen song is on the radio so my aunt can listen, too.
You'd be right to assume that about a performer struggling to continue doing what he loves while not knowing how close the end he is. Yet at the same time he and the band were trying to safeguard info about his health. The meaning of the song really hit home after he passed
This song came out around the time I was diagnosed with MS (was 18) and it helped me at the time to cope. It is one of my favourites by Queen as a result.
At the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, Elton John performed this song with the remaining members of Queen. It was so impressive that it was released as a single and went all the way to #1. A fitting tribute indeed.
He could barely stand when he sang this - Brian said he propped himself up on the recording table after downing some vodka - and it was recorded just months before his death. :( The world didn't know about Freddie's diagnosis until the day before he died, despite the rumors (all Queen members lied to protect him and his privacy), but this song is from the album "Innuendo", which literally means "dropping hints". The album "Made in Heaven" was released after Innuendo and is full of complete recordings that the band had saved after Freddie's death and hadn't yet released. It includes his last recording, "Mother Love", which has the heartbreaking lyrics "...They say that I'm strong, but my heart is heavy and my hope is gone" and "I long for peace before I die." He never made it back to the studio to finish Mother Love, saying he felt unwell one day but that he'd come back soon. Brian sings the last verse. Freddie was desperate to keep making music to distract himself and told the rest of the band to give him things to sing, even if the instrumentals weren't ready yet, because he knew they could be added after his death. By the end, he was almost blind and had lost part of his foot, but he didn't want pity or anyone to feel bad for him. Brian said he showed him his foot/leg once at dinner, as it was clear he was in pain, and then immediately apologized for upsetting Brian by showing him. Brian said he was just so sorry that Freddie was suffering. His last music video was "These Are the Days of Our Lives", where he clearly looks frail and unwell. It's in black and white, to try and hide Freddie's condition, and Freddie obsessed about his makeup behind the scenes because he didn't want to appear ill. He stands in one place, as he could barely walk. There's sad footage of him limping off the main stage. But he still smiles, and leaves the message for his fans "I still love you", his last words on camera and a throwback to the crowd favorite "Love of My Life". Such a kind and brave man. The band did a tribute song 7 years later called "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)", where Brian and Roger sing lead. It's sad but I recommend watching that official video. It shows how much they all cared about him, and it was John Deacon's last appearance with Queen.

There is none like Queen, Freddie Mercury was such a phenomenal talent. The group is still s phenomenal talent. I will always love & listen to their music.🎵🎼🎵❤
"It sounds like he knows he's gonna pass in this song." Yeah. He did. He got up off his death bed to sing this. The reason they show the band on shelves in the video is that he couldn't stand up.
My favorite song by Queen. Nothing beats this one. Belt it out when life sucks, and send Freddie a little thought. It gives you strength to keep going.
This song still breaks my heart. Even though he could barely stand and he was almost blind he kept it up till the end. Freddie suffered badly but music was all he lived for. Beautiful song him telling us the show will go on.
Freddie did this in 1 take .. In the studio he downed a large vodka and said "I can do it" .. The results are phenomenal. .. Each and every word he meant .. Absolute legend!
Lovely reaction , he was a great singer his voice is so powerful considering how sick he was , give a listen to mother love , beautiful song , thanks from Liverpool xx

Hey I cry every time I hear this song b/c its heartbreaking & I miss Freddie so much - I LOVED Queen since I was around 10 yrs old (I listened to their earlier music- I LOVED IT) I am now 53 yrs & I can't get enough of watching yt videos of Freddie the BEST front man EVER til this day. Queen's music was way before its time b/c they are all so talented & Freddie will always be in my heart.
Good review. When I first heard this song on the radio, all those years ago, I burst into tears. I think we had all feared that dear Freddie was not long for this world and this song seemed to confirm the struggle he was having. Have you seen ‘These are the Days’? It gets me every time!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think he only sang this just the once as the band thought he was to ill and weak to hit the high powerful notes. But he smashed it first time. True legend and performer.
“I’ll fucking do it, darling!” (rips shot of vodka and props self up on the desk)- Freddie Mercury before recording the final chorus of this song in ONE take. Even with his critically failing health, he was an absolute fucking legend.
Amazing song and amazing voice. Yes, No One But You (only the good die young) is a beautiful tribute to Freddie and the video clips of him during the song are heartbreaking 💔 makes me weep, I can’t watch too often. ❤️ Freddie ❤️
Heart Breaking!!! He had so much more to give. What a Champion fighting till the end, Knowing you are dying and working till the end . Watch Queen live at Live Aid from 1986 . WOW watch Freddie taking over the Crowd . FANTASTIC!!! Peace from Scotland
Mother love was his last recording, Brian May, and Roger Tsylor wrote a song called, Only the good die young. It's a sad song though, They wrote it after Freddie died.
Just discovered your videos, 3rd Queen reaction now. It's interesting to see you going from being blown away by Bohemian Rhapsody, to being humbled by The Show Must Go On. As someone who grew up listening to Queen in the 80's, it's great to see younger people appreciating what would now be deemed classic rock/retro. Freddie was an astounding singer. He died on my 12th birthday and I cried so much, it was heartbreaking to lose such a talent. But years pass and people such as yourself are discovering Queen's music - Freddie's legacy. So from this 40 year old music fan, thank you for keeping it going!
This is one of my favorite Queen songs. He's so sick here and he still sounds like THAT. He was so strong. 💔❤❤❤❤ React to No One But You(Only The Good Die Young). Made in 97 by Brian, John and Roger about Freddie. Also a very sad song but it's a very good one.
You were right. This song is about a performer struggling to go what he loves knowing he's approaching the end of his life. The second verse gives that away most
I was so shy when at school, but loved Freddie and this song so much and was so heartbroken when he died I spent months rehearsing and then performed a dance to this with my best friend. (Looking back the dance was so bad, but at least all my school peers and the teachers got to listen to this magnificent song. Xxx
Brian May, the guitarist wrote this song with Freddie in mind. He told Freddie about the song and he said he assumed Freddie was too sick to record it. Freddie said "I'll f'ing do it, darling", took a shot of vodka and recorded it.

I’ve read the other comments and I can’t add anything new. Loved the reaction and will add my voice to all the requests for Queen tracks being posted on this thread not forgetting Freddie duet with Montserrat (can’t spell her surname) Of Barcelona.
This is such a sad but amazing song, I've just subscribed and if you're taking any more Queen suggestions then I think you be amazed with " these are the days of our lives" it just puts life in perspective and moves everyone that knows what he went through. Anyway love the reactions keep them up.
Even though Freddie was dying he had so much love for his fans and his band-mates that he performed right up to the end. He recorded as many vocals as he could so that the rest of Queen could use them even though he would be gone before the songs could be completed, thus "Made in Heaven."
This is one of my favourite Queen songs, there will never be another preformer like him, a song to check out on the Made in heaven album released after he died I was born to love you, one of songs he recorded in his final months, you simply can't believe it was recorded by a dying man, its a good listen.
Some us lived through these times. You continue to give us blasts from the past. You have the option of visiting things we experienced over years and years. No internet then. Radio was king of the music scene. Concerts were always about getting tickets months ahead of the shows, if you couldn’t get to the box office or ticket services you had to pay through the nose to a scalper. That said, you see the crowds. What you’re not seeing on the internet are the small bands or short lived bands that played in small clubs and never made it big. You are reviewing the cream of the crop. Those who got in, got hyped, got radio play. It’s an industry. Or was. Now anyone can self publish and self promote. Anyway, I love your ability to find and enjoy these bands and singers. You are always so positive. It’s a pleasure to revisit these songs and nice to see a happy person. Thank you.
In school we analyzed this song (I went too a music program school). We talked a lot about the ending of the song - how it repeats itself and fades out with "the show must go on, go on, go on.." I think it's a beautiful way of saying that it goes on and on. By repeating it like that and have it fading away, makes you (well me) feel that this isn't an end - it's just page turner too a new chapter. We humans wants a start and an end, but this fading away makes you feel that there is no end and that the show really doe's go on ❤️
You really need to react to These are the Days of our Lives soon. One of his last recordings. Lyrics are very deep and the end will bring tears to your eyes, especially seeing how sick he was but finished these final songs for us fans.
This song was never performed live by them. This was released a month before he died and I’m not sure if anybody ever performed this live unless maybe queen performed it with another singer, but not with their lead singer and official band-members. . This is on their Innuendo album. It’s just ironic that Queen released this song and it just happened to be the month before Freddie Mercury passed away. I think they had released Innuendo earlier in the year and it went straight to number one so Freddy was alive to know that this album was kick butt and it was going to be very similar to another night at the opera and Bohemian Rhapsody album. The whole album is really good
They perfor this with Adam Lambert on their new tour. I think he sings it beautifully. Of course I would love to hear Freddie sing it live but I think Adam is the next best thing.
Elton John did a heart wrenching version at the 1992 Freddie Mercury tribute concert with the surviving members of Queen. I recommend all younger fans that weren't around yet or were too young to see it at the time check out footage from that show. It was truly amazing
@@michaelbaldwin8484 I actually hadn't seen that performance(I've only seen bits and pieces from the tribute concert), so I just went and saw it. Imo I don't think Elton has enough power in his voice so thing such a powerful song. This should be sung by someone who can take really high notes. Elton can't. So I wasn't that impressed unfortunately.
@@sannaolsson9106 I agree. Elton John absolutely doesn't have the voice to effectively pull off that song. However, I think you're missing the point. What was most impressive was the raw emotion that he put into his performance in tribute to his deceased friend. Just hearing it tears at my heartstrings
This song breaks my heart every time. He was dying. For me it's a reminder that we are all on the way out, and when we are gone the show goes on without us.
This song I had heard from Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman. It was a very sad song but very inspiring just to live. Then I heard this song & I was shocked. Freddie Mercury sure did go out with a bang! Bless his heart & soul❤

Oh yes. Check our Barcelona live at Ibiza. Phenomenal.
Yes! Another must!
Except that Freddie did not actually sing it live.
There is none like Queen, Freddie Mercury was such a phenomenal talent. The group is still s phenomenal talent. I will always love & listen to their music.🎵🎼🎵❤
"It sounds like he knows he's gonna pass in this song."
Yeah.
Im gonna take a listen to it now never heard it , song like this cut me up because my Dad has Alzhiemers took me a long time to listen to it , were from Liverpool aswel stay safe now
Hey I cry every time I hear this song b/c its heartbreaking & I miss Freddie so much - I LOVED
Queen since I was around 10 yrs old (I listened to their earlier music- I LOVED IT) I am now 53 yrs & I can't get enough of watching yt videos of Freddie the BEST front man EVER til this day. Queen's music was way before its time b/c they are all so talented & Freddie will always be in my heart.
So sad he's gone😞😞😞😞😞👍✌️♥️
Of course Freddie would be proud Queen still going, the show must go on!!
Amazing song and amazing voice. Yes, No One But You (only the good die young) is a beautiful tribute to Freddie and the video clips of him during the song are heartbreaking 💔 makes me weep, I can’t watch too often. ❤️ Freddie ❤️
I couldn't watch this. Breaks my heart to know he knew he didn't have much time left 😢😢😢😢
This one and Days of Our Lives always bring me to tears - Freddie's last look to camera and 'I still love you' kills me every time
Heart Breaking!!!
NICE REACTION. YOUR INSTINCTS ARE RIGHT ON. I LOVE FREDDIE AND QUEEN, ALL OF THEM. I'M OBSESSED.
always gets me this one, dear old Freddie!
I’m really glad you could pick out his message.
It's one of my favorite Queen songs. I also love "Who wants to live forever".
Very few singers could share their hearts like Freddie did.
Great song. Great reaction. Thank you.
Wow thank you. That was fast lol
Freddie 😭❤
Tomorrow would be his 73rd birthday, thanks for the great reaction! They were the best!!
I liked the Queen version of Too Much Love Will Kill You also, I've still got Made in Heaven on white vinyl.
Will break your heart. Be ready for it
You were right. This song is about a performer struggling to go what he loves knowing he's approaching the end of his life. The second verse gives that away most
This song breaks my heart but it's so incredible. That voice! And his courage and strength. ❤️
I was hoping i’d come across this one! I cry every time I hear it. Loving your videos, thank you!
Thanks for reacting to Queen. Great song and Freddie was amazing even sick.
I was so shy when at school, but loved Freddie and this song so much and was so heartbroken when he died I spent months rehearsing and then performed a dance to this with my best friend. (Looking back the dance was so bad, but at least all my school peers and the teachers got to listen to this magnificent song. Xxx
Actually crying listening to this
Brian May, the guitarist wrote this song with Freddie in mind. He told Freddie about the song and he said he assumed Freddie was too sick to record it. Freddie said "I'll f'ing do it, darling", took a shot of vodka and recorded it.
one take my ass
Talk to Brian May. He said it in an interview on a documentary.
@@tazmom0 no he didn't, your just stupid and don't understand what he is saying
@@RoverWaters Considering you can't capitalize, punctuate, and you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". I bet you don't have a high school diploma. Talk about stupid! 😂
@@tazmom0 lol at least I don't go on saying my spelling was correct when it wasn't,
so should you... when people say you are stupid and don't understand spoken words from Brian's mouth, you should admit you are stupid. Vocals for this song were not recorded in one take!
LOVED this LOVED YOU !!!
Watching it in 2020 lockdown
This song never fails to deliver ...
I don’t care how many takes it took who’s right ... who’s wrong .. give a shit !!!
I just value and appreciate this music ... And years later .... the fact that young guys n gals getting into it
RIP FREDDIE /BOWIE And all the other talent we lost far too young xxxx
I’ve read the other comments and I can’t add anything new. Loved the reaction and will add my voice to all the requests for Queen tracks being posted on this thread not forgetting Freddie duet with Montserrat (can’t spell her surname) Of Barcelona.
That's coming along with innuendo and now mother love
JayveeTV Fantastic
Barcelona is a must! Phenomenal!
Freddie lived to perform, he loved what he did and achieved it. Legend. Thanks for your reactions. 🙏💜
Thank you.
Teo Torriate (Let us cling together) is one to listen to, sang partly in Japanese.
We humans wants a start and an end, but this fading away makes you feel that there is no end and that the show really doe's go on ❤️
This song makes me cry every time. It’s so brilliant though.
You really need to react to These are the Days of our Lives soon. One of his last recordings. Lyrics are very deep and the end will bring tears to your eyes, especially seeing how sick he was but finished these final songs for us fans.
The last album they brought out was devastating. I’ve listened to it once and I sobbed. The last track is just silence 😭 still miss him
This song was never performed live by them.
@@michaelbaldwin8484 I'm more moved when watching George Michael's Somebody To Love tbh 🤷🏻♀️
This song breaks my heart every time. He was dying. For me it's a reminder that we are all on the way out, and when we are gone the show goes on without us.
There is no other song like that which can bring me to my knees in tears. Every single damn time
Dont think I've ever listened to this song without the hairs on my neck standing on end. Great song.
You got ti, my friend! I guess Freddie was a master at communicating his message!
This song I had heard from Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman. It was a very sad song but very inspiring just to live. Then I heard this song & I was shocked. Freddie Mercury sure did go out with a bang! Bless his heart & soul❤
Really love your Queen reactions! ❤
He said...you want me to sing this? Sat on mixing table after his vodka shots and recorded the song. Epic song. Love you Freddie.
Please react to Live version of bohemian rhapsody live at Montreal 1981.
Okay...got my tissue ready. Love and miss you Freddie.
Happy birthday Freddy! It is sad because all I think about is how much more music from him & many others we missed out on. GONE TOO SOON!!!
Your right he knew this one of the greatest songs ever not just for queen but anybody
