      For over 10 years now, I planted this bamboo on a 4ft by 2ft plot, and they're still there and never spread out uncontrollably. When new shoot sprouts, usually 2 to 4 inches from the main clump, I just snap off the new shoot. I bought it for privacy... the next-door neighbor's back door is directly facing the deck of my backyard. My bamboo grows up to 15 ft tall and I bought it from a nursery in Oregon; when I contacted, and asked, them about what kind of bamboo I should get for my small backyard, they suggested the "clumping" bamboo.

    For all the commenters saying to steer clear of bamboo clearly didn’t listen to the video where the voiceover says to be wary of not using an invasive bamboo, as there are literally hundreds of kinds. Running bamboo is invasive and a nightmare. Clumping bamboos are great and look amazing and don’t invade, they stay where you plant them.

    Bamboo is aggressively invasive and almost impossible to remove. I've spent the past 1.5 years digging up a tenacious root highway that was underneath half of the back yard, and even a small piece of it that's left behind will grow and continue to shoot up new stalks. It's nightmarish and extremely difficult to contain, even with the best of precautions. Avoid the bamboo.

      There’s over 1000 types of Bamboo from 12 inches to 170 feet tall. Do your research if you choose bamboo. It can be a nightmare if you choose the wrong one.

      That’s a running bamboo you have, you always use clumping kinds, not running, in a garden screening situation. Running bamboo is a nightmare and even banned from most council compost bins here in australia!

      I noted the AI voice, this time I wasn't put off. Imagine the voice component of this production was the only thing keeping the channel from making videos. I think it's ok.
      There was some effort in tuning the AI voice over.
      Often this not the case and AI voice sounds really bad.
      This was ok.

    Is English ivy a good fence cover plant?

    • @PlantDoHomeGarden
      @PlantDoHomeGarden  Місяць тому +1

      Hello! English ivy can indeed be a great choice for covering fences due to its dense growth and lush appearance. It's excellent for adding a touch of greenery and privacy. However, it's important to keep in mind that English ivy is quite vigorous and can sometimes damage wood or other fragile materials. It also requires some maintenance to prevent it from spreading uncontrollably. If you're looking for a low-maintenance option that still provides charm, consider alternatives like climbing roses or jasmine, depending on your climate and fence material. Happy gardening! 🌿

      @@PlantDoHomeGarden thank you so much for this info. I’m in NY state and the fence is an old chain link one. Maybe I’ll hold off on the ivy and go for one of the other options you mentioned! Could you suggest one, now knowing the where I’m located? I really appreciate the help! (I’m not much of a gardener but really want to cover this area) blessing to you!

    • @PlantDoHomeGarden
      @PlantDoHomeGarden  3 роки тому +2

      Arborvitae are very tolerant plants that require no pruning and have naturally graceful, pyramid shapes. While the plants are prey to few insects, they are prone to spider mite infestations during hot, dry weather. Deep watering and spraying off the foliage can minimize these pests’ presence. 💕💕💕
