A quick tutorial using the Ground Moving Target air-to-ground radar, coupled with the new auto-handoff feature to blast moving targets with the AGM-65D Maverick
Dude what are the odds. I was JUST looking around for videos about this on this exact plane and you just so happened to upload a video about it and get into my notifications tab lmfao.
Really enjoying your videos! Would it be possible to cover A2G radar more? For example, what about against non-moving ground targets? How would you find targets if you only knew "there are some tanks in this area" or similar? Trying to get used to not checking the F10 map for enemy positions / playing on servers with those hidden, but man it is *hard* to find ground targets! How you approach that + usage of radar would be awesome topics, whether separate or combined! Cheers.
I'm pretty sure your first maverick splash damaged the second maverick and killed it in air! I've had this happen with me in the Viggen all the time haha
You know I almost dug out Tacview to see if this was the case. Funny the Mavs are so slow the second one will sometimes pass the first one on the way to the target.
@@FLYGaffer yes, ive had many mavs kill other mavs, so i only shoot them if they are far away from each other. i dont really like mavs i use GBU laser bombs or CBUs
Thx for the vid! 👍 Important to mention. If you're doing it within such distance and not in the clear vanilla desert (e.g. some other objects around the road) the maberick will (most probably) lock anything but the target you want. Sometimes even on a flat surface without any objects it will lock just a spot on the ground. IMHO mavs are still good only with manual slew, auto handoff - garbage.
QQ since i think it was mentioned, but want to clarify... from TGP (in Auto mode), move cursor over target, TMS right short - - this sends to weapon and then it's ready to fire/rifle? Is it also a thing that you need generally need to nose down 5+ degrees for the Mav to get the lock?? thx. I have inconsistent results and trying to figure out what I can do to improve. Thx.
Did you bore sight the mavs on the ground for this? I think the Mavs have been updated I can't seem to get boresight on the ground to work i have to bore sight in the air.
I can’t see shit now with the new flir. They have to be moving to generate heat. Tried to find a Sam site with the hts and tgp. If they’re cold they blend right in with the terrain now. Maybe they need to add ambient temps of the area vehicles are sitting in. I guess they just blend in with the terrain now. I don’t know what’s realistic or not😬
Yeah I notice the same thing. Even if vehicles are off/ not running, they should have a different heat signature than trees/ground etc.. Will have to dig around in the forums to see if it’s an acknowledged bug
you have to boresight the mavericks sometimes, best to check this on the ground or if you're in the air find some kind of target of reference and find out how to boresight it

Glad I could help!
I love your videos, not talking around it, just coming straight to the point and being very informative.
Your videos are the best I have seen for DCS. Not rushed and clear explanations very informative without too much bs.
Always straight to the point! I like it💯
Thanks!
good stuff as always Gaffer, glad to see you back!

Awesome. I need to put more time into familiarizing myself with the ground radar modes, so this is right on time.
perfect guide, thank you!

Very good questions, i wonder the same. I always finding targets without F10, but never really worked for me.
Excellent video 👏🏻 I have learned a lot! 🤓 Thank you very much 😊🤙🏻
Woah it's pretty insane this sort of capability is even possible. Now I see how I'm supposed to find convoy missions on Through the Inferno.
I hope the new handoff works better have been messing with the tgp for a bit can getting the agm to lock in a handful rarely worked for me
Thanks a lot. It's much easier now

@@FLYGaffer When you went nose-down you picked up speed and that second mavrick went "send it!" 🤣

They almost always use bombs in Modern warfarr
great
keep up the good work champ
Appreciated

Thank you so much for the video!
Wasn't handoff previously done with TMS forward? Did it recently change to TMS right or have I just been doing it wrong the whole time?
I believe it was because he was already in point track so TMS Right would command a handoff again
it handoffs with tms up once you go to point track, tms right does handoff again if it did not work first time
If the maverick after lock has a flashing cross the lock is not good. It should be steady
Good vid! As a DCS F-16 guy, did you look into falcon BMS?

Do you ever think that the sensor systems, even if implemented correctly, are a little too flawless?
Does this work for static tgts
the 2nd AGM got taken out by the first ones Splash-dmg more or less
The mavericks don't always align to the tgp. Suckss plane
