Oooooh baby, I've been waiting for this one... I was expecting the RAW GM radar and a wait for DBS1/2. Looks like you've nailed it early. Even included the Doppler Offset. Much love going into the Viper and we LOVE it. Awesome job, ED!

I think my radar is broken then as it doesnt work like that. I would love to know what I'm doing wrong. Sometimes it puts a diamond there, sometimes an empty box, then it un locks itself and screen goes black again.
Hey Wags, thanks for the vid. If I'm not mistaken the azimuth scan speed has been adjusted since this video and I've gotten the hang of that. However when in DBS1 or 2 and I adjust the range, it throws me back out to NORM mode and I have to hit Expand FOV to re-enter DBS view with the new zoom scale, is this intentional?
As a former Back Seater using a Ground Mapping Radar, this upgrade makes me extremely happy :-) Can't wait to get into this :-) Thanks Wags and Eagle Dynamics, excellent work.

This is the first time I've ever seen synthetic aperture radar in a simulator. This is absolutely incredible. Very, very realistic. The only thing I've noticed that isn't in the sim is the speckling (perhaps aircraft use noise reduction to remove that) and the characteristic "bloom" effect that's inherent to sharp cornered objects when imaged by SAR
@@MONARCH1985 The AN/APG 68 has SAR capabilities for ground radar. Multiple sources and available literature on the matter states this. I am in no way an expert in this, but researching the equipment used in declassified literature supports that it is SAR.

I kept seeing all the cool Hornet videos and carrier takeoffs and that awesomeness. Now with all the improvements and capabilities I am glad I chose the Viper. The Hornet is next, along with the Carrier Pack, but for now I am going to explore the Viper to the max and enjoy it. Thanks to guys like you explaining it so well, it makes the learning curve much less steep
i feel the same way, i will prob end up going with the a10 next since lots of the systems work almost identical on the a10, so i wont have the relearn 100% of the aircraft, only like 75%.
I'm very much looking forward to this. It looks remarkably more usable than the hornet. Using the hornets AG Radar is watching your window wipers smudge bugs that have hit your windscreen. Apart from GMT and SEA mode the hornets AG is trash
Yea it's as if the Hornet only had the real beam mode more or less, and not the EGM thing that Wags is showing. I wonder whether that's true, or if it's tied to the fan/pen option thingy which, as far as I can tell, is not implemented yet.
I wish there was a GPS aided Maverick. Would be awesome to attack somewhat close in range targets from above the clouds. I'll guess JDAMS and JSOW will have to do :D
