I had a guy from an import tuner shop tell me about how they dislodge stubborn lower links like this when they do coilover swaps. He said they unscrew the bolt halfway and then take the vehicle for a quick drive down a bumpy road and then the shock will free itself. I was a bit dubious at first, but it actually works like a charm. You can hear when the shock releases because then the bolt rattles inside the hole on the control arm confirming that it's loose. Turns swapping out the front shocks on an R230 into a 10 minute affair per side. If you use a 22mm box wrench on the nut, there isn't even a need to disconnect the tie rod.
