But he has a lot of mash potential because of the safety of his moves. The only to punish spamming Steve's is backdashing and whiff punishing and I guarantee you that 99 % players dont know how to do that
An important note that i think should have been added is that since you can't lowparry after b1,2 is that you now have a safe uninterruptible mixup between d2,1dck cancel or any safe :]
Yeah b+1,2 leaves Steve in a great position, especially since his lows tend to be -12 so can't be launch punished by anyone. Low parries in general are so strong within the T7 system, being able to force a mix where they're basically nullified is a pretty big deal.
Boxing character in a fighting game: *Exists* Mick Gordon and Omega Sparx: I'M BACK TO RISE, I'M BACK TO GLOW, I'M BACK TO FLY, I'M BACK TO SOAR, I'M BACK TO WAR, LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD I FEEL ON FIRE WHEN MY PASSION FLOWS

2:40 I just can't land the duck into forward 2 after hitting the forward 2, 1. After the forward 2, 1 the body just flies too far for my duck forward 2 to land. Sometimes the body flies real close to me, but it's so rare that I have not managed to land it. Anyone know why the body sometimes flies closer to you? edit: I am practising on Heihachi.
Some other things worth noting: EXT DCK 2 hits grounded. It flips the grounded opponent just like the Mishima's Steel Pedal. While normally pointless, its a good poke to throw out after EXT DCK F2->DCK F2 hits, as you can maintain ducking. F1+2, 1 has less hit pushback in general, so no more of those 1st hit 2nd whiff shenanigans. Guard pushback remains the same so you'll still get punished. PKB F+2, 1 no longer just spikes the enemy on the ground, but sends them flying in a similar manner of ALB 2. If you can pull off a quick manual Peekaboo, you have a slightly more damaging, new combo ender. Yes, df+1,2,2 and f+2, 1, 2 does knockdown and leads a combo on rage with the rage drive, but on block it's -9, from -5. While it is safe, you have to eat a mixup without much of a choice. I've been waiting for this Steve video Salami. Good work.

He has to be great, since theres SO much work required to get to the good stuff. Also, an arcade stick wont help, ignore that guy. Maybe a hitbox, a little, but a controller doesnt make the game easier overall
@@thief594 Thief Yeah, you don't NEED an arcade stick, but they can encourage muscle memory for the variety of complex moves and inputs. They make the game feel more intimate and force you to be deliberate as it's easy to make mistakes if you're not specifically doing what you want. I mentioned it only because he doesn't think his fingers are cutting it, so maybe his hands and wrists can allow him to play better despite it taking just as much time to actually get better.
Yeah, if you manage to get the f2,1 into dck 1+2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 the enemy can usually kiss the round goodbye. Even without the wall he'll net around 70+ dmg unless he gets cucked by the side wall
Qcf1 still deals more dmg since you can bd to get a resplat with 3,11. B1,2 is hard to get a resplat off of. Theres a few things i could argue with in this video but i cba
'While it can evade some highs, it tends to get snuffed out by ongoing strings, being locked behind a stance, very slow and quite punishable on block at minus 14, it's just not very useful That is why Steve has one of the best Wall bounces in the Game'.
Yeah the dck f+2 is very hard to time, but as mentioned you still deal good damage even without it. Might want to stop after f+2,1 and instead dck in for stronger oki.

Damn and I thought my dude Lee had a terrible wall bounce. Steve was legit the only character I didn't want to fight even back in season one. A Steve with good defense is a nightmare
Love the Video As Always!! Btw can i ask for a suggestion? I don't play tekken 7 but rather I play tekken 6 (coz i don't have a good pc to run tekken 7) i am wanting to pick up a new character which has evasive properties, so i was looking forward for feng (as his normal moves are quite evasive) but then i saw this video. So I was wondering which of the two should I pick to master as an evasive character in my arsenal ??
U/b+2 Is now the old 2nd hit of b+1,2 from season 1. Was it in the game already in season 1 or is that new? It's not on the move list and i can't find it on any frame data apps, but from what i can gather from practice mode it seems to be i15 and -12 on block, great plus frames on hit tho but it's still garbage :/
OK, so, his new rage drive is really good, BUT (and hopefully this isnt just me) I have ran into WEIRD situations with it. For example, i landed his rd on a Paul doing qcb3, and the first hit landed but second hit WHIFFED and left both characters back to back to each other. Yes. Steve was my first pick to deeply learn Tekken since I was interested in the game. You'll be frustrated a lot to master him, but if you keep training you'll be rewarded with how amazing his counter playstyle. He's a natural counter pick to any characters in the game. Good luck.
Hi fellow Tekkeners. Can some of you elaborate me a little bit on Steve? So I learned Steve, and I'm doing fine with him. But still, I'm a bit surprised he is considered so good. So what's the deal with him? Yes I do realize he has very safe moves making him very safe on paper. But here are the big cons with him in my eyes. The obvious one, no range. Meaning you don't really get to always be the one to engage the opponent. Especially vs the slippery characters which includes pretty much all females but not only. Also, his best moves are high. Mid and low hits are rather mediocre and slow (Steve not having any good quick mid hit is surprising to me). Couple that with the fact that so many characters have crushing moves. And obviously bad combo starters. I guess it requires deep knowledge of the game to play with Steve but still, the cons I listed feel like very specific weaknesses which you don't really see with other characters.
i'm a main steve and i can completely understand what you mean and get that you feel like he has glaring flaws. While every character has their flaws steves are, range, bad lows , no unique grabs mix ups out of stances, mainly high and mid attacks, easily parried by any character etc. So steve is a high ranking player with good moves but it takes both a high level player with great execution and creativity to use him to a high potential in my opinion. He has a crouch dash accompanied by a fast low and fast while 1,2 mix up, His b,1 is stupid fast and strong, his d/f 2 is safe , homing and counter hit launches. Since at high level majority of launchers are unsafe so you wouldnt spam it. Steve is based on counter hit attacks only thus making so you can spam his best counter hitting attacks all day at competitve gameplay. His stances makes it hard to side step steve at any given time but at low level game play no one really side steps anyways so you wouldnt see the benefit. Steve also has great wall carry and wall damage , great early frame punishes like WS 1,2 or 112. Also he can transition to weaving and ducking moves at almost any time making his pressure game really strong.
@@holymoly12345 Oh I'm aware of everything you said. Thing is, I kind of see flaws here and there in what you said too. Like, b+1 is surely a good move, but its 13 frames. Other characters have a 11 frame magic 4 with about the same range or perhaps more (no exact idea of the magic 4 range)? King's b+1 is also faster 12 frames or something like that, I don't know about it's range. This makes me wonder, Steve is counter hit focused and yet you can find better counter hit moves in other characters, at least that's how I see it, a 11 frame magic 4 is better imo. d/f+2 is safe, it is however slow and doesn't have much range which makes it a little bit situational imo. d/f+2 and qcf+1 are his only good mids imo, and they are both slow making it a bit hard to mix up between highs and mids. His d/f+1 isn't particularly good either, or am I wrong? Though it does offer mix ups. Also, he doesn't have much to offer when the opponent is on the ground, no pressure, no mix ups which is another weakness I forgot to mention before. By wave dash you mean the continuous duck cancel right? And by fast low you mean d/f+1 during crouch? I wouldnt say it's the fastest low, and its 0 on hit, it doesn't give any advantage. Sidestepping isn't good against Steve since many of his moves track from at least one side, but on the other hand backdashing is really good against him.
@@behlazur great points! so the different between b,1 and a magic 4 is most characters magic 4 like leo's for example is difficult to combo off of because of range and distance. most characters who use magic 4 have to be really quick to combo in the first place. steves b,1 has a big hit box and also its -1 on block if you go into flicker while most generic magic 4 is -7 so your turn is effectively over. b,1 into flicker would allow u to duck or weave or use flicker moves, so you have a ton of options even after attack which other characters dont have. d/f2 and qcf is his only good mids, he doesnt have alot, they recently nerfed his flicker 2 which use to be neutral on block and gave a guaranteed d/b2 but not its -5 so you can spam it as much. on top of the fact you have to enter a stance to use that move.d/f2 while it is slow, its backed by the fact that its homing and safe. compared to kazuya's d/f2 its 14 frames but -10 on block so even using it once is punishable. his d/f+1 is normal its nothing special sadly. just a 13 frame mid poke. And steve is difficult to mix up with you're completely right hence why no one complains about why hes a top tier or broken since its locked by high skill usage. yes the wave dash is his duck cancel the low is 15 frames while not too fast its plus 1-2 on hit and high crushes as well. Steve struggles against turtles youre right again. He does not have much options at all when the opponent is on the floor except the new extended duck 2 that hits grounded now and his weak d+1+2. Steve lacks alot of tools that other characters have but he also has tools hes particularily good with.I struggle to win with him due to his lack of tools and my lack of skill to use him properly.
@@behlazur The best way to play him is at close range. Spam his string, b1, shoulder check, ducking, and d/f+1 mixup. You can also bait opponent's attack. I usually bait their high attack (regular jab punish) with jab starter then hit snake charmer when they try to punish my jab starter to counter it. When opponent tries to spacing (kbd) just hit albatross spin punch to counter it. This will also can get you close to the opponent. At wall pressure when it's difficult to hit the opponent just use flicker stance (FLK,2) to counter w.rising opponent. This will counter em even if they're doing tech roll and you can get space safety
Hopkick and ws2 are normal launchers. Others are counter-bait needed like I use delay-duck2, fake pkb, b1, snake charmer, long-range uppercut and pkb,df2 counter
lol I could never defend this wallbounce like I did it with Lee. In regards to Steve being the best character, I think he is the second best, RIGHT AFTER Devil Jin, but I respect your opinion
Yeah can definitely see where you're coming from. I think the best 2 characters in the game are Steve followed by Devil Jin. Steve still has bad match-ups, like Law and arguably Katarina, but he can really overwhelm a good chunk of the cast. Devil Jin doesn't have any bad match-ups, but needs to stick his neck out a bit with riskier reads.
Did you see the RD? Half of the video was dedicated to that and for a good reason. Best RD in the game IMO, 14f Launcher, tracking and leads to a 50/50 on block. I'm actually afraid they will nerf it

I miss the essentials/Complete Breakdown man
Steve still doesnt have a real launcher ?
Hopkick and ws2 are normal launchers. Others are counter-bait needed like I use delay-duck2, fake pkb, b1, snake charmer, long-range uppercut and pkb,df2 counter
Jin, Law, Devil Jin, Steve are top tiers, surely SS imo
YEAH!
Based Steve
It’s Tekken 5.0 all over again... almost
Steve is a far cry from 5.0. He's very strong here yes, but this is a much more balanced game.
That Blasted Salami
Still has bad memories of 1+3
lol I could never defend this wallbounce like I did it with Lee.
In regards to Steve being the best character, I think he is the second best, RIGHT AFTER Devil Jin, but I respect your opinion
He said "a strong arguement COULD be made for Steve being the best". He didn't outright say Steve is the best
@@MrOzzification k
Yeah can definitely see where you're coming from. I think the best 2 characters in the game are Steve followed by Devil Jin. Steve still has bad match-ups, like Law and arguably Katarina, but he can really overwhelm a good chunk of the cast. Devil Jin doesn't have any bad match-ups, but needs to stick his neck out a bit with riskier reads.
The best
Well goodbye top tier steve, now you're in season 3.
Yessss steve is more acknowledged than before now and i'm happy with it. Just look at that tier increase :O
now only xiaoyu and yoshimitsu left
Best character huh
S++? This is a freakin problem!
Bruv jack 7 df2 is -14, Steve can sonic fang it
It's not a consistent -14 punish, tip range it can be -13
That Blasted Salami Oh okay thanks for the info
I hate fighting Steve; I honestly don't know when I can push a freaking button against a halfway decent one.
Use magic 4, hopkick or sway moveset at proper range. You can also spam low attack or high crush
I don't really agree that Steve is top tier because his difficulty level is what holds him back
Well if his difficulty level holds you back for playing him, you can't really make him top tier. After all it depends on the player.
@@chevychelios4672 yepp that I cannot argue
... But is he as good as Lars?
Thts bold ..
This version of steve was broken
Steve is way too safe. Defintly the best in the game. But i like how he is hard to play. Only law and Jin is on his level. Prob asuka too
Steve ain’t British ya gopher good vid tho I watch all of em :)
But S++ is a bit too much don't you think?😅
Zeuß Razel 😂😂😂
Did you see the RD? Half of the video was dedicated to that and for a good reason.
Best RD in the game IMO, 14f Launcher, tracking and leads to a 50/50 on block.
I'm actually afraid they will nerf it
Zeuß Razel I'd say S++ is underplaying him
Steve main here, trust me... It isn't.
Giuseppe Garrubba they should but I hope not
I say, They gotta Nerf him...just a bit
I agree. The RD should be negative on block.
