I love Mokujin as a character concept. Very similar to Yoshimitsu he is basically a joke character that is at the same time the most beautiful being purpose-wise - a wooden training dummy carved from a 2000-year old oak that becomes alive when the balance of evil energy in the world becomes higher then that of good, to balance it out. And once the source of evil is eliminated the dummy is to become lifeless again. No sorrow, no ego, no denial. Instead - *PURPOSE* . Clear-cut as is the word that is carved on his back over and over: *POSITIVITY* . That is just beautiful.
@ ultimate good is comedic, foolish-looking, child-friendly but is sagely wise. Its a sturdy shoulder that is there when you need it, with a daring smile that lifts your spirit. The only gain for good is good itself. In case you understand what I mean I advise you checking out Hideki Kamiya’s “The Wonderful 101: Remastered”. It is a true testament to this concept.

Idk if he would be added since there is specifically paid DLC , how does mokujin work with paid characters? Do you let him mimic DLC you dont own? No that doesn't work. Do you not let him mimic DLC you don't own? Well then there's somewhat of an advantage to not paying with mokujin, since you have to know less characters. Do you require players to own all DLC to play Mokujin? Its just weird and hes a very niche character and you have to do a lot of weird stuff for characters with special effects, objects, limbs, gimmicks, etc like Jack or Yoshi

Him not being playable without having all the characters would be reasonable, since he's supposed to mimic all of the characters. You'd have to either add him last or continually shift the requirements as new characters come out though, which is the only thing. If he came as part of some pass that secured access to future characters it would work. or you could simply deny usability in competitive environments including tournes and ranked mode if the account doesn't have all characters unlocked
One of Mokujin's strengths is that people who don't play him can't always recognize who he's copying. I remember beating a guy way back in T3 because he thought I was Paul when I was actually Jin. I caught him off guard at the start of the round, and he had a hard time recovering mentally.
It's not try, I will start competing again. I competed in Tekken 5 DR, Tekken 6, and Tag 2 with Mokujin when I was younger and even won a few small local tournaments. I would have competed back in Tekken 7 when the tournament scene got more popular but no Mokujin. It's why I'm making more Mokujin videos right now so hopefully I can get just a few more people to tell namco to add him to Tekken 8.

Odd that for lore reasons, Mokujin is just nowhere to be seen in Tekken 8. Mokujin has been shown to appear over major entities that threaten the world. Ogre in Tekken 3, Jinpachi in Tekken 5, and Azazel in Tekken 6. You can argue he was absent from the other games due to there just being Mishima affairs. Tekken 1, 2, 4, & 7 only affected Kazuya & Heihachi. And Tag games aren't canon (but do involve unknown as a threat). But for Tekken 8? You have Azazel being revived, and True Devil Kazuya threatening everyone, and yet he is nowhere to be seen! Anyways, nice video! Mokujin is also one of my favorite Tekken characters :)

11:00 This existed on Forgotten Realm, Cave of Enlightenment, and Devil’s pit due to a bug in the game’s code in how it handles height! In these stages, the in game height value is 1000+, so launched characters act differently and make certain combos possible, and the bug would disappear as you reached the bottom floor of Forgotten Realm/Cave of Enlightenment or the second part of Devil’s Pit since the height was now 0
I can see so many guaranteed mini combos that are currently tight or impossible becoming impossible or possible on mokujin, which would be interesting.
If Mokujin ends up in Tekken 8, he's either gonna be the last DLC made character-wise, possibly as Free DLC. Sure, Mokujin does stuff different from the characters he copies. But I can see Harada trying to say "here's a free Mimic character with no changes to the moveset whatsoever".
If this isnt a genuine loveletter to the Tekken Franchise since T3 till recent to a literal block of wood i dont know what else wil. Lets hope they give Mokujin a bit more of a though than some decoration as an asset or a T8 lobby addition. Cheers!
Great vid again and I can confirm the floor elevation thing was in 7 too. Jin had an important combo you could only do with floor break stage and Akuma could do a +16 FADC fireball only vs Lidia on the jungle stage top because of it

he became my main mid this year when me and my mother started playing tekken tag on co op. i got bored of my mains roger JR and alisa so i picked mokujin and i liked how it made it so random. some of the moves would click and some would make me lose but that was the magic of him and no knowing some characters. its like your too shy or not sure who to pick if you want to try a new character so mokujin is the best at seeing everyone.
yeah for t7 i remember some jin combos being more consistent (or even only possible?) on floor break stages like you mentioned. kinda interesting to see it's been like that forever 🤔

I remember the exact moment, playing at an arcade cabinet of Tekken Tag (1), I had picked Mokujin and Hworang, and they both did the same exact animation upon losing. So I went "wait a minute...!" and it finally clicked in my tiny head that Mokujin is a mimic character. When I finally got my hands on a console version of Tekken (which was 5 for me) I ended up settling on King as my main from then on, but Mokujin and Yoshimitsu will always hold a special place in my heart. These characters hit the perfect spot between goofy and cool for me, and I always had trouble getting into other fighting games because such characters were kinda rare. I would love for Mokujin to come back. What an iconic character. I find it hard to imagine how they'd pull him off, with the direction Tekken 8 has taken. Something tells me the cinematic heat moves/rage art wouldn't translate well to Mokujin clumsily trying to match the correct limb proportions. Maybe he could have unique versions of these for himself (mimic moveset but with Mokujin specific rage art/heat ender)?
In Tekken 7 there is a certain Jin combo that only works on forgotten realms specifically because of the fact that ground is elevated slightly because it is a floor break map. There is a video about it on youtube and I think it was something about Jin's back 3 pickup

Always loved Mokujin, what me and my brother would do in like T5 T6 is both pick Mokujin and do Blind Battles, we'd close oyr eyes and play the match out not knowing the character we were, and find out through the ending fight replay, I really do miss Mokujin

I had some old footage I think I used in another video. I used the clips because I did not want to sit in practice mode for an hour hoping for charade or edgemaster to select the right character.
As a kid, my first Tekken was 6th, my dad bought it for us to play on the xbox 360 (actually he bought it as a gift to himself, but kids are kids and want to play...), I tried to play mokujin plenty of times without even knowing about the existence or even the possibility of mimic characters. My brain didn't know all characters, not even their movesets, so I never noticed Mokujin to be a mimic, but I kept playing with it bc it was like a giant wood automaton (hell yeah). The one spark of understanding I got playing it was when I played copying King, he was one of my favorites (I am mexican so "Ay cabrón" moment when I first saw him at the selection), and my kid brain said "Omg they are very similar" and then all my knowledge on how to play Mokujin diseappeared bc it changed moveset. Playing Mokujin as a kid who doesn't know anything felt like playing Yoshimitsu with alzheimer

As someone who grew up with Cokbot and didn't even know Mokujin existed until 5, I have nothing but respect for the amount of effort/love/amphetamines exerted on this channel. Thank you for your service and for opening my eyes.
Always loved Mokujin, what me and my brother would do in like T5 T6 is both pick Mokujin and do Blind Battles, we'd close oyr eyes and play the match out not knowing the character we were, and find out through the ending fight replay, I really do miss Mokujin

Mokujin for Tekken 8 indeed! I think the main reason why I still haven't bought T8 is because there's no Mokujin, but at least I can play him online in Tekken 3

I had some old footage I think I used in another video. I used the clips because I did not want to sit in practice mode for an hour hoping for charade or edgemaster to select the right character.

As a kid, my first Tekken was 6th, my dad bought it for us to play on the xbox 360 (actually he bought it as a gift to himself, but kids are kids and want to play...), I tried to play mokujin plenty of times without even knowing about the existence or even the possibility of mimic characters. My brain didn't know all characters, not even their movesets, so I never noticed Mokujin to be a mimic, but I kept playing with it bc it was like a giant wood automaton (hell yeah). The one spark of understanding I got playing it was when I played copying King, he was one of my favorites (I am mexican so "Ay cabrón" moment when I first saw him at the selection), and my kid brain said "Omg they are very similar" and then all my knowledge on how to play Mokujin diseappeared bc it changed moveset.
Playing Mokujin as a kid who doesn't know anything felt like playing Yoshimitsu with alzheimer
