- Some of Leo’s most abusable moves from Season 1, such as the infamous b+1, have been severely toned down. On the flipside Leo has received some tremendous buffs in terms of safety, pressure and damage, overall making Leo even more powerful in high-level play.

I mean, the move was basically a counter hit launcher since leo's introduction into the game.
Clarence Powell The move itself isn't the problem, according to Blasted Salami, so much as the over-reliance of it by less experienced players.

Any good move can and will be abused by less experienced players and pro's alike.
Jack's ff1, Drags running 2, jin's f4, electrics, etc.
In fact, I would go so far as to say having a strong, safe move you can just *throw out* in neutral is KEY to being a top tier character.
Leo's B1 nerf is MASSIVE and I would go so far as to it's enough to bring Leo down tiers, not up. S2 Leo is definitely more fun and interesting to play - but stronger? Can't say I agree yo.

I actually agree here, but her tournament results never really reflected that.
Tournament results aside seems like a lot of people found Leo a boring character for some reason (cough b1,4 spam cough). I'm actually having a lot of fun with her now though :)

Thanks for this, I really thought Leo was pretty useless after season 2 after skimming patch notes, but you put a lot of this into much greater detail. You've pretty much been my primary source for character knowledge ever since I started watching you, so keep it up, as it really is appreciated.

I like the little twists you do to keep these series of videos fresh as they keep coming around
For example, that bit in the beginning might get old if it was always a thing you did
But you use your blows where they count the most
Kinda like how the Lars video had a bit of the #buffLars running gag in it
Or how the Panda/Kuma videos had some match analysis and overview of tiers to go with them

KNK 4 got buffed. On CH it isn't +10g, it's +10.
In Season 1 it was +14g.
Then when season 2 dropped it was +10 and you got jabs guaranteed, but there was a bug where they could duck it. So only a duck jab was guaranteed.
Now they can no longer duck the jabs, so it's actually better now, since it leads to guaranteed damage.

g means you don't get anything guaranteed as they can still block and duck highs

Correction: CH KNK4 is not +10g. It's +10. You get a free 1,4 now, for some stupid reason.
Thanks, that's pretty nuts. Another commenter noted you can still duck, so no 1,4 - but crouch jabs are guaranteed.
@@ThatBlastedSalami They fixed that in the 2.02 update, so now 1,4 can't be ducked.
I remember when s2 dropped, everyone in the Leo discord assumed ch knk4 wad supposed to be +10g since you could duck. Namco specifically addressed the ducking in the hotfix, so the jabs are guaranteed now. I'm not complaining obviously, though the buff is both situational and entirely unnecessary.

So out of curiosity for anyone who is in the competitive TEKKEN scene, how much has Leo been used by players? I’m asking because I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone playing them competitively. It kinda makes me sad considering I’ve only seen good things about the character and they’re my personal main (mainly because they use the same fighting style as Akira Yuki from Virtua Fighter of which I’m a huge fan and played before TEKKEN).

you can springkick ff3 followups to stop bok2 from being guaranteed
if the ff3 hits face up grounded and leads to that "ground bounce" the bok 2 followup is guaranteed e.g. after uf 1, 2 (if opp. doesnt techroll backwards). its not possible to springkick out of the stun. if the ff3 hits face down grounded you can techroll sideways and whiffpunish the bok 2 with a WS launcher or hold back to block the bok 2.

Well I actually dont rely on Leo's B1,4 since Tekken 6. I am not a Leo main. I only do mix ups and find opportunities to do Combos.

I've come to realize these videos make me terrified of pretty much every character. Not sure how to feel about that.
Leo is another one of those top tier characters that people overlook for some reason. Despite being very good and fairly simple to use, you don't see much of her in tournaments. There's a few other top tier characters in the same boat too.
People go for personality of the character rather than tiers it seems. Like John D0ng still uses shitty Eddy even though he got massively nerfed from Tag2.
@@tippingguy8514 I think it's the gender confusion thing. A lot of people seem lukewarm about Leo and spend more time debating whether he/she is a waifu or husbando rather than enjoying the fact that Leo is a good top tier character with EASY execution lol
Show me a high level Leo that didn’t depend on b1 for their gameplan and I’ll agree that Leo is better now. I think she’s around the same tier with just a different gameplan and some of the worst counter hit options in the game.
Not sure where you're getting worst counter hit options in the game from. She has qcf+2 (1), df+2+3, WS+3,1,2 and a magic 4. Sure she's not Steve, but her CH game is pretty solid.

The funny thing is, Leo was confirmed by Harada as a girl, name being Eleonor even. Also, there are girls who look and dress in the same manner as Leo. They are called tomboys. And they ain't gay either. A good example is that girl named Amber from f(x).

I iike to hear everytime that Leo is a top tier character. Yet, almost no one dare to prove it on tournament. When some players pick characters much worse on tierlist , than this trap.
So, leo is like a Schrödinger's top tier character.
People mostly go for characters they like or super brain dead ones like S1 Drag, Kazumi, Jack.

@@varghest4641 i dabbled with leo last year hes fairly easy to use actually. But he requires mastery in stances tho. Hes technical i guess. Not as technical as lei or xiaoyu but hes definitely up there.
