The fact that TV has outsold the original is definitely crazy to wrap your head around, the bigger everything gets the more unstable it all feels. I get the feeling that this level of hysteria is not going to go away quietly. I also think that Taylor, like most other people, have this tendency to get a little bit of hubris when too much is going in her favor, maybe flying a little bit too close to the sun so to speak. I feel like a Reputation like moment is creeping closer every day. Hope I am wrong though!
I agree and I think the next album has the potential to be amazing or it has the potential to be a forced mess because if this , like Zach says when someone is never told no or edited it can affect the quality of their work and I hope she will find a way around that
I think her Rep album track list order is her best… it shows her going from feeling vengeance, anger, hurt, disappointment etc to realizing there was so much more to positive and good things to focus on other than how people turned on her. It ends completely with her realizing the love she found was far better.
I did my own reshuffle when it first came out, here it is: New Romantics (They meet in the city) I Know Places (They have to leave) Wildest Dreams (Drive out of the city) “Slvt!” (California) All You Had To Do Was Stay (He leaves) Is It Over Now? (Both date other people but it doesn’t feel over) I Wish You Would (Getting Back Together) This Love (Reflecting on what happened) Style (accepting the on again off again) Out Of The Woods (anxiety about the relationship) Say Don’t Go (The breakdown) Suburban Legends (She can’t try to be friends) Now That We Don’t Talk (Seeing it for what it was) Clean (She feels like it’s over) I wish I could fit in Wonderland but I feel like it would only fit between “Slvt!” and All You Had To Do Was Stay and I wanted to keep All You Had To Do Was Stay as the track 5.
@@ninasbbm5133 the songs she excluded other than hygtg (which i don't think could rly fit the tracklist just like wonderland) aren't about harry, like blank space and shake it off are about the media, and wtny, bad blood, and yail are definitely not about him
wonderland could go in between suburban legends and now that we don't talk. along with the idea of taylor looking back and why it didn't work. "didn't they tell us don't rush into things?" "we pretended it could last forever" "in the end we both went mad"
When you said "SΙυτ!" added another dimension to the lore of 1989, My mind went "exactly" because, If rest of 1989 is "clean", "SΙυτ!" is explicit If rest of 1989 is seagulls, "SΙυτ!" is flamingo If rest of 1989 is new york, "SΙυτ!" is L.A. + the NTWDT appreciation is all i wanted to see So true ❤🙏
I think it makes sense for Style to be a track 5 in an album of turmoil like you said, there is something beautiful about the only strickly happy song being the emotional core. also great video as always!
I think Suburban Legends is an important add to the story because the "we were born to be Suburban Legends" is a call back to Style and the "and I always knew it, that my life would be ruined" is a call back to Slut! I'd consider putting it after Say Don't Go. Then the story flows from "i want you to fight for me, but you won't..." into "...and I knew you wouldn't"
@@theswiftologist me too, that is my favorite swiftologist video as well, hopefully we got one for FEARLESS TV reshuffling.. I am looking forward for RED TV too.. he said that soon he will be uploaded it.
Zach, I am here from time when you have idk like 4k subscribers and I just want to say I'm soo proud of your growth. You are very consistent, funny, smart, you have critical thinking skills, great fashion sense, beautifully decorated room plus your reaction videos are always the first and we can discuss things with you that other channels don't talk about (and don't have to feel guilty about that). And I LOVE it! ❤ Honestly, you are the main reason why my English has improved a lot (I'm from Europe), I appreciate how articulate you are and that all your videos are subtitled. Thanks to you, not only has my language improved, but also my critical thinking, and I have a general overview of American pop culture Now (I'm also lot less delulu 😅). I like that you are still using prayer, as I suggested once, it always made my day. And last but not least, I have a friends but unfortinatelly I don't know any Swifties in my area (here in Czech republic almost everyone knows a few Taylor's songs, but there aren't many Swifties - if so, not in my generation, I'm 26). So you make me feel like I have at least some Swiftie in my life because you're so close to us, interacting with fans, etc. Thank you for that . ❤ Btw. if there's any Swiftie from the Czech Republic who also misses a Swiftie friend, text me 😊 (I'm from South Moravia but now live in Ostrava), my Instagram is @hana_holeckova_brzo_simova or here in the comments. Please don't laugh at my Ig account name, I gave myself that name once as a joke and it stuck with me. 😅
Hey Zach, just wanted to say I love your videos sm and I’m so happy that people are finally appreciating your videos more! I’ve been here since 2k subscribers and have loved seeing your epic growth! Hope you’re doing well and if you ever wanted to do a q and a video about your life, I’d love to see it! ❤️
i listened to style tv in multiple ways; earbuds, phone speakers, car speakers, computer sound system, headset, and it had its brief moment of “maybe this isn’t so bad”… and then the chorus hit and i listened to the original directly after and i just got so sad. i’m sorry but i will not willingly listen to the rerecord, blondie is still getting money from streaming the original i’m sure she’ll live
At first, I have to say that I was confused by 1989 (Taylor’s Version)‘s first listen but, after being familiar with it for the last two weeks, I gotta say that… I love it. I think she honored it well, and many songs got HUGE improvements (This Love, Clean, I Know Places, Wonderland, AYHTDWS, Bad Blood and Woods). And shout out to How You Get The Girl getting justice. Heck, I even familiarized with Style. Overall, I was SATISFIED. And the Vaults are INSANE.
personally I like it, im not going to say its better than the original( which I love) but tbh I just dont see it being as bad or bad as others do, and believe me ive really tried to understand why people hate it just so much.
I have a hard time noting audio differences, so I was kinda okay with style, but New Romantics… the voices that sound like kids was just not it. For the vault tracks… I can’t believe those songs were kept in the vault for so long, but at the same time I understand. Imagine the amount of hate she would’ve gotten for being so honest about HS. For me slut and is it over now are masterpieces!!!
I cannot describe how grateful I am for your content, to be honest I was kinda worried there isn't any Taylor related content for someone my age lol (im 30). I accidentally became a swiftie this year and needed your videos for quite a long time, I only started watching you a couple weeks ago (thank u algorithm) and probably watched most of it already. have a great day
i absolutely am convinced that wildest dreams is about alexander sarsgaard, or more specifically, it’s depicts a fantasy of being with him, and she had an on-set crush on him during the short time they filmed the giver (and had dinner with the cast and jammed together in the hotel with singalongs and then gushed about each other a little in interviews). I don’t have the sources for this, but I have seen it stated that Taylor has described Wildest Dreams as both fictional and a daydream. It’s possible that Harry felt it was for him or about him on some level, though, because he references it lyrically in his unreleased song “Him”. It is unclear if “with you when your wrote that line” refers to part of Wildest Dreams or another song, though. Now that I have been looking for it, and getting into actual timelines, I have noticed some things that are very certain to be about Harry, or originally at least, including “So It Goes” first verse and chorus.
you’re one of my FAVORITE CREATORS EVER and i’m not even that much of a Taylor fan, but that just shows how amazing you are!!! your takes and statements are just so refreshing to hear. i just love hearing what you have to say and your objective nature to stay true & not be a crazy fan. you’re just so cool. i cant wait for the Haylor timeline 😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰
Wildest dreams is a very important part of haylore, In "Him" (unreleased by Harry) Harry mentions wildest dreams, in Midnight Memories (by 1D) wildest dreams is mentioned too. The secret Message for wildest dreams is "he saw her in his dreams" which is a part of her secret message story of 1989, she also refered to it in "Is It Over Now" And Harry is a bit taller than Taylor Swift, just check out their pictures from when they used to hang out together, and he has grown taller than that. Ig people might be wondering that he is shorter than her because of their Grammy interaction, but it's important to note that she was wearing 6+ inch heels.
Zach, I have to tell you that the reason why I always come back and why you're my comfort channel is because you are the only other person (that I've seen, I'm sure there are others out there!) that agrees that the TV isn't always the best. Similarly to you, I'm a veteran Swiftie (been around since 2006, have the original Taylor Swift CD). These songs mean a lot to me and I have mixed feelings about the TV. A lot of people in my personal life attack me for my opinions and say how I'm "missing the point" or "not a true fan". No. The fact is I'm allowed to have sentimental attachment to songs that raised me, helped me get through hard times, and I'm allowed to be critical towards my favorite artist and these re-recordings. Doesn't mean I don't love her; it just means I don't blindly worship everything she does. I'm so glad I found a corner on the internet that makes me feel so validated. Thank you for these videos and for expressing your opinions!
I think some fans haven’t learnt the difference between constructive criticism and hate. Constructive criticism is healthy and respectful. I really enjoy watching Zach’s videos because his opinions are respectful but also nuanced and balanced. I actually feel my brain relaxing whenever he’s expressing his opinions because of the way he does it. You can love someone & the work they put out into the world without having to put them on a pedestal all the damn time. It’s actually unhealthy when fans do put them on a pedestal as they’re setting themselves up for disappointment. Especially when it’s a public figure, we only see what they choose to show to us
this exactly. these songs raised me. Ive been a swiftie for more than a decade. And now Ive got 12 year olds telling me Im a fake fan for listening to the og versions? ugh.
@@cattd00 lol I felt that in my soul My 13 year-old sister tries to do that to me when she forgets that when I was 18 and she was an infant I was playing red for her on repeat
Hi Zach, thank you so much for the video! I love love love 1989, its my favorite album. I was wondering if you saw all the craziness last night? From Travis going to the show, the 3 surprise songs, the karma lyrics change, and the backstage kiss??? it SO CRAZY AND UNHINGED I was literally freaking out!!!!! and I also saving this tracklist to Spotify!!
I was today years old when I found out that Taylor may have had a fling w/Alexander Skarsgaard and it has me SPIRALING into this theory -- EVERYTHING ABOUT THE WILDEST DREAMS VIDEO HAS NEW MEANING! And the fact that she cast Scott Eastwood, son of iconic actor Clint, as her love interest is VERY conspicuous since Alex Skarsgaard is also the son of an iconic actor, Stellan Skasgaard.
Taylor and Alexander Skarsgard were filming movie together in South Africa. In that movie Taylor’s character was brunette. So basically Wildest dreams MV copying her movie set with Skarsgard.
I made my own rearrangement of the track list the other day, very excited to compare my opinions to the swiftologist! Appreciate all the hard work you always put in zach!
I think Clean tv is my favorite rerecorded track from this album. It's different enough from the original so I don't feel like it's supposed to replace it but also the instrumentals in the back are adding more to it.. Like to alternate between these 2 versions.
Love this!! And you made my day when you said a Haylor timeline video is coming!! 😯 Re: Wildest Dreams...I have a theory about that song! I too think it's about Alex, but I think it was originally going to be about Harry. Have you heard Harry's unreleased song 'Him'? It's basically a response song in the same vein as Adam Young's 'Enchanted' response (which was cringe but still cute), because in it he sings "that nice dress, my wildest dreams, the lipstick stains still on my sheets" like couldn't be more obvious, but he also says "I don't wanna hear about him, in these songs you continue to write, I was with you when you wrote that line, it was me that you had on your mind" And I saw in articles elsewhere that Harry had some 'feelings' about her thing with Alex which I guess he confirmed in this song! But so...wildest dreams is the sort of song that is pretty wistful and not that emotionally intense, so I can see it being about a fun fling, but I could also see the idea of a love affair that is so impactful, that you never forget what you shared and how special that person was as being about Harry too. I can see Taylor, the romantic that she is, thinking if this ends, I hope you always remember me and these magical moments we're sharing right now. I wonder if she changed the direction of the song because of how she was feeling about Harry at the time and she knew he'd hear it, or else she just decided it would make a better song - and we noted that she cut pretty much all of the most emotionally raw and specific songs, so a more generic, wistful song about a fling would fit better with the overall narrative she was going with for the album. We've seen from the vault tracks that her feelings for him were a lot stronger and more complex than we realised though, and I think from Harry's songs we see his regrets. I definitely think it did have a significant and lasting impact on them both. The song style is really fun, but I think it also encapsulates that impact with not really being able to fully let go, and feeling like they could always come back together at some point because they never go out of style. I feel like in some ways, Harry had the most significant impact on her, after Red she was like "Jake who?" But it seems like she continued to think about Harry, probably due to the unresolved nature of it - like you said, wondering if they're going to show up at your wedding. With those vault tracks and after songs like question...I wonder if part of her felt like he was the 'one that got away'? I thought people saying 'The 1' was about Harry were being ridiculous, but I'm becoming more convinced! (Not being silly hoping they'll get back together - but would I ship it? Hell yeah!) I would love to hear more of your thoughts about which songs on folklore and beyond might contain Harry references. As always, bless you for this video! I live for seeing your take on all things Swiftie 🙌
I did a red reshuffle myself after the tv came out too and made me fall in love w the album in a way I never got to w the original. There’s such an undertone of blues rock on the album that when highlighted, really just drives home how good of a songwriter she is! I cant wait to hear or see your tracklisting. Red took me the longest of all the albums to reorder so I’m so curious to see what you came up with and see if ours are similar.
Ok so for me… I general try to marry sonic cohesion and narrative cohesion. And sometimes one wins over the other, so for the most part my tracklisting makes narrative sense but there’s a few on here where you’ll be like “hmm!” But that’s because w an album like red which is more about just general idea of feeling emotions to their extremes I was a bit forgiving on narrative. But here it is: 1- state of grace 2- holy ground (can’t believe she didn’t put these back to back) 3 - come back… be here 4 - red 5 - all too well (dealers choice on version 6 - treacherous 7 - I knew the you were trouble 8 - WANEGBT 9 - Better Man 10 - I bet you think about me 11 - The Last time 12 - The Lucky one 13 - Nothing New 14 - Everything Has Changed 15 - Begin Again Bonus: 22 The Moment I Knew I Almost Do Forever Winter Babe The Very First Night Safe and Sound Forever Winter (In no particular order yet )
@@theswiftologist Right!? I do it w most albums I’ve listened to unless they are already perfect the way they are (Golden Hour I’m looking at you). But it makes me feel like I can delve deeper to into the story and the sound and sort of paint my own perception of it over it.
Don't be. You're a normal human being... I never knew the differences until somebody else pointed them out, and I think it's only hyper-involved fans and people with musical backgrounds that can pick them apart like that. As long as you're enjoying the music ❤
@@kate.2769it’s also probably having years of experience with the songs and being able to hear the little differences from memorizing the songs by heart
Great video! I don’t think the track list on the album should necessarily be in chronological order to tell a cohesive story. But it’s definitely a fun exercise. Excited for the next video, Zach
It seems like she intentionally takes more time with the tracks she feels were under appreciated on the original versions. I agree that these vault tracks are top tier. Great analysis!
I absolutely agree that the swiftie community is allergic to even constructive criticism. I think it's because many new swifties who are very active online are probably young teens. And let's be honest, none of us were very reflective when we were 14.
OMG Style and New Romantics were my two favourite songs off of 1989 (SV) and then she botched BOTH of them on TV not to mention everyone I’ve asked thinks the re-recorded versions are good… imagine my excitement when I saw you ranked them the same as me!!
@@missmoonchild3865 no if you google it, it’s an actual thing she did after rightfully bad feedback. Maybe you’re not listening on the correct platform? Or you are just used to it lol because she did it a few days ago
I didn't notice any huge difference in Style. Out of the woods was the biggest botch I've heard so far. I feel the production from the very beginning was kinda boring compared to the hit of the original. That was my most anticipated song so after I heard that I've only listened to a select few favorites and the vaults.
video idea: randomize 2 tracks of a taylor album to be the book ends, then based on the 1st and last track of the randomly chosen tracks, create a coherent tracklist. Cuts can be made but the singles must STAY!
There’s a UA-cam channel called swift leaks and they made a video that compares the old to new for all the songs. If you don’t look at the video you can immediately tell on every song there’s a difference. Also, I would love for you to make a video at the end of the re-record process going all the songs that you thought were good enough to replace
Omg I thought I was going crazy! THANK YOU for saying that thing about the white noise/high pitched whine on certain tracks. I was like am I hearing things??? It hurts my ears, so I will not be streaming those versions either.
I’ve also convinced myself Wildest Dreams was inspired by Alexander Skarsgard! They met on the set of a movie which matches the music video theme and I think it aligns with the lyrics in Is It Over Now. Her dating Alexander was just a rumor and a lot of people didn’t even know about it. “At least I had the decency to keep my nights out of sight. Only rumors bout my hips and thighs…”
Loved the video, and you inspired me to create my own rearranged tracklist! So if you would like to indulge in a different interpretation, here is my "fixed" tracklist. 1. New Romantics 2. "Slut!" 3. Out Of The Woods 4. Say Don't Go 5. Is It Over Now? 6. Blank Space 7. Shake It Off 8. All You Had To Do Was Stay 9. I Wish You Would 10. This Love 11. Style 12. Wonderland 13. Wildest Dreams 14. Now That We Don't Talk 15. Clean THE CUTS Welcome To New York Bad Blood How You Get The Girl I Know Places You Are In Love Suburban Legends I really wanted to convey the roller coaster that this relationship went on, and I'm very happy with how it turned out!
Amazing video as always, Zach! Would love if you could do a video essay on Lana’s latest album Ocean Boulevard. Would be keen to see your views on where it ranks in her discography, her Grammy noms etc
I think this rerecording is an absolute masterpiece. she actually made one of the best pop albums ever even better with the vaults. I think they expand the overall "story" of 1989 in a very effective and interesting way, it kinda feels even more of a concept album with an overarching story to me. I have even more love and appreciation for 1989 now.
1:05 I agree!!! I love Red to pieces but its track order is horrendous 😭😭 Whoever thought putting "22" after "All Too Well" was a good idea should be fired
I’ve thought of a way to get Suburban legends, How you get the Girl, Bad blood, and Welcome to New York onto the track list 1. Suburban legends- coming off the tumultuous experience of The past era’s she decides to draw a line in the sand to become more business savvy 2. How you get the girl- more business savvy head and toe she decides to sit down and talk from a unknown perspective 3. New Romantics- the real intro into the main story of 1989 4. Blank space- in that in between the love story and the business savvy mode, she’s in on the joke 5. Slvt- the flip side to blank space and the first signs of falling in love 6. Style- same reasons you put it here 7. Out of the woods- same reason you put it here 8. Bad blood- she feels cornered by a certain pop girl which leads to the next track 9. I know places- the first hit in the relationship, after feeling targeted by someone who should be her ally and the media her thoughts get incredibly more anxious 10. Say don’t go- same reasons you put it here 11. Wonderland- same reasons you put it here 12.all you had to do was stay- same reason you put it here 13. Wildest dreams- say it with me now, same reason you put it here 15. I wish you would- same reasons you put it here 16. Now that we don’t talk- same reason it’s here on your list 17. Shake it off- shes trying to distract herself and start a new path in life (Could also work between say don’t go and wonderland) 18. Clean- that forced feeling of being ready to except the past and ready to move forward 19. Welcome to New York- she’s moved, she’s ready to experience what life has next, she’s inspired by the sound and the freedom of love, no longer held by the past she’s truly free 19. Is it over now?- The past (Harry) will never just be the past, he’s a muse. Also clever way to end an album given the title - I don’t want to live forever isn’t on 1989’s track listing but I do think it works for the story she’s telling so I think it could go between say don’t go and wonderland, before shake it off if you prefer shake it off between those two as well - I would make Sweeter than Fiction and the rest of the cut songs (From my version) into deluxe tracks cause I’d feel bad removing some of them from the discography
I'm so happy that someone else also finds it difficult to appreciate Style and Welcome, New York and New Romantics the same way they did. Maybe because they're my favorites and I guess she's just not as heavily invested now than in 2014 cause she's at a different stage in life now. While the singing definitely is different, it's the music arrangement that just feels so under-anything. So thanks, nice to know it's not just me who has these unfavorable opinion about our beloved singer songwriter.
i could see suburban legends going in between iwyw and now that we dont talk or wildest dreams and iwyw because i feel that song is kind of reflecting on a past (but not like really long time ago) relationship and kind of understanding how she was also a factor in the end of the relationship. "I broke my own heart because you were to polite to do it" feels retrospective and kind of like recognizing her faults and still salvaging hope for the relationship to rekindle :) i love this tracklist - i feel that it tells such a good story about a relationship falling apart.
The extreme amount of validation I felt when you put New Romantics in the “style tv” tier. New Romantics is my favorite Taylor song ever and I will not be playing the tv of it. I tried so hard to like it, but I just couldn’t. Loved the video btw and all the content here and on patreon🙏
IM SO HAPPY you agree that wonderland was a discovered supermodel too!!!! Like, I had never really felt any particular way about Wonderland when the record first came out- I mean I was like a tween when it released and I remember really loving the smash hits as most did- but wonderland never really stuck out to me for some reason?? After 1989 TV hit, MY GOD did Wonderland hit too😩😍 Like, those DRUMS in the pre-chorus???? Addicting. Ear porn. 10/10, I definitely got lost in wonderland while listening. 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' also got ranked SUPER high on my personal list just because so many elements of the original production were enhanced and magnified on TV and it is just so compelling to listen to. Almost has a completely different vibe Love the video Zachary!!
At first, I thought that the songs like style tv and shake it off tv were definitely worse than the original. But after having the album for over a month now, the songs have been growing on me, and I know LOVE style tv.
me personally, i hate how clean turned out, but that’s probably because i’m so used to the original version. it doesn’t hit the same as it did. i think it’s something about (forgive me, i know nothing about music terms) the echoes missing, and also the back vocals sounding waaaaaay different. anyway, thanks for making this! i love hearing your thoughts on the re-recordings! 💙 edit: i just listened to both versions, and i noticed how the re-recorded sounds like her voice is behind something and it sounds like she’s pretty uninterested. idk i just noticed that now!
love your new track listing! but would switch out of the woods & I know places because OOTW is more reflective ‘looking at it now… I remember thinking…’ whereas IKP is more present tense ‘in the dead of night, your eyes so green and I know for you, it's always me’. feels like chronologically IKP came first xx
I totally agree! Out of the Woods coming after is the perfect reflection of "we've tried to save this relationship by keeping the media away; all we need is each other (IKP). Did it work? Are we out of the woods now?"
Hey Zach this was SO GOOD!! I’m not seeing the Haylor or 1989 playlists on your Spotify! I’m able to get to 1989 with the link but it’s not listed on your profile and the Haylor one is not there 😢
I absolutely agree! Style and New Romantics were my two favorite 1989 songs (style is also my absolute favorite TS song) and they were also the two songs that really disappointed me
I'm going to one of the Paris shows. Unbelievable to type that. Super excited. The gremlin in me wants to bring a sign that says "I prefer all the originals"
Hi Zach, I was wondering if you can talk about the argument that “she needed to change some aspects of the song for legal reasons”. And that’s the reason why style sounds bad. I am confused if that is true or not. Thanks for the video ❤️❤️❤️
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤ Oh my God. Yes, king went to sleep after hanging out with you. All on the Discord and on twitch. And now just woke up to see you all again. Here, it's a really good day to be a swiftie 🎉. I thank you so much for all your work. Sweat and blood and tears and good luck on your packing! and all that stuff.🎉 . See you on the twitch laters and yeah for time zones😊 luna btw
OMGGGGG THANK YOUUUU I've been saying the same thing about IWYW ever since I heard it and everyone else just tells me I'm insane cause it sounds the same (it does not, the guitar is less punchy and that's what I loved about it before
Love these exercises of telling a single cohesive story for an album. And it certainly works beautifully as a playlist. I think New Romantics especially should’ve been the opening track. But, beyond that, i really love that her albums aren’t just fixated on a linear narrative and a single relationship that she’s telling us about. This album especially, i think felt like it voiced what so many of our generation went through in terms of relationships and how express ourselves in the world. New Romantics is key here, but also Style, Slut!, out of the woods, are a whole mood that really captured the album’s vibe.
I like the idea that clean was almost the ending (in your reshuffle). It’s like Taylor being like “I’m so over it. I’m doing so well, I swear” and then she writes one more: Is it over now? “Oops, maybe not.”
I’m so closely aligned with this assessment but the big one for me is that blank space is in the style tv category for me. I will listen to it if I’m jamming to the whole album in the background but I cannot when I’m truly jamming to it, it is not the same. Also, I would like to argue that obviously I don’t expect exact renditions but I feel like if she can make those vaults slap like they did then she is fully capable of giving us that sass and attitude in the re-records, like I just know she is capable, I don’t think that too high of standards. It’s delicate and I know she knows this too. Lol it also took me a while to realize the white noise was coming FROM THE SONG omg I thought I was going crazy. Can we also say our prayer? I feel like it got straight to the goods this time (nothing wrong with that!) but it’s one of my favorite traditions and tis the season for traditions
I have the most unpopular opinion bc I love Style TV haha The guitar added is such a jam to dance to, I love the fact that I have this new version as well as the old one! its just refreshing and new
I don't know what it is about Style TV, but I'm absolutely obsessed with it 🤣My only complaint is that awful white noise/buzzing through half the album that was pretty bad on Style at first. It's seemed to have been tamed down since THANK GOD, but to me the song just feels warmer and richer now. However, I absolutely LOVE your perspective Zach, and if I look at it from a different perspective, can even agree with some of the critiques of Style! I love that this is a place where we can criticize the songs that really are NOT it (AKA New Romantics) in a healthy way and be okay with that. I'm obsessed with your videos!!!!
Next time you do a reshuffle on an album, I would love it if you show the tracks visually - like if you film when you in real time make the spotify playlist. Otherwise, I love your take!!
ooooh I did think about doing it but it takes me a couple days to make the tracklist and I listen to them while I do it .... it's like a spiritual experience
my tracklisting 1. welcome to new york - goes to ny 2. new romantics - they meet 3. blank space - he finds out about the rumours ab her 4. style - he doesnt care ab the rumours and they get together 5. ikp - they have to leave 6. wildest dreams - they drive out of the city 7. slvt - california 8. ootw - they start to have problems 9. ntwdt - they stoped talking 10. iwyw - they get back tg 11. wonderland - they start to have more problems 12. ayhtdws - he leaves and wants her back 13. say dont go - the break down 14. iion? - wants everything to be over 15. this love - reflecting on the relationship 16. suburban ledgends - realises whats wrong 17. shake it off - starts to get over what happens 18. clean - feels its finally over
I think the key to Haylor is that it didn’t end definitively. Taylor, the writer she is, can’t help but ask questions and write new endings. “Did I hit the brakes too soon when he didn’t say ‘I love you’? Did he need more time? Would the media have died down eventually?” I wonder the “final” break-up came as a surprise. When she walked off the boat in her blue dress, did she expect him to call? Did she get silence? Is that how a passionate story is supposed to end?
the wildest dreams thing is interesting! I think she was inspired by that experience filming the giver, but it has to be a haylor song. the themes are just too on point (let's get out of this town, drive out of the CITY, away from the crowds, someday when YOU leve me i bet these memories follow you around, etc). But she literally shot the giver in africa with a bronw wig with a guy who looks like the video guy, so it's a bit tricky...but I just can't see her not feeling this way about harry
Style and I Wish You Would didnt hit me the same way. Love that you can be the Swiftologist and not be brainwashed into thinking everything she produces is a smash hit!
Hi Zach.. I think I know Places should go before Out of the Woods? Because I know places is the "hunt" and the "run" and the "hiding". Afterwards, the sun comes out and she asks are we out of the woods.❤
Watching the entire concert being live streamed from Buenos Aires last night, and then seeing the video of TK after the concert standing waiting for her and then him seeing her and them embracing… it was so incredibly fun & romantic! 🥰💘
I agree and I think the next album has the potential to be amazing or it has the potential to be a forced mess because if this , like Zach says when someone is never told no or edited it can affect the quality of their work and I hope she will find a way around that
Well damn that's dramatic

I think her Rep album track list order is her best… it shows her going from feeling vengeance, anger, hurt, disappointment etc to realizing there was so much more to positive and good things to focus on other than how people turned on her. It ends completely with her realizing the love she found was far better.
definitely! it’s definitely her most thought-out tracklist
I did my own reshuffle when it first came out, here it is:
New Romantics (They meet in the city)
I Know Places (They have to leave)
Wildest Dreams (Drive out of the city)
“Slvt!” (California)
All You Had To Do Was Stay (He leaves)
Is It Over Now? (Both date other people but it doesn’t feel over)
I Wish You Would (Getting Back Together)
This Love (Reflecting on what happened)
Style (accepting the on again off again)
Out Of The Woods (anxiety about the relationship)
Say Don’t Go (The breakdown)
Suburban Legends (She can’t try to be friends)
Now That We Don’t Talk (Seeing it for what it was)
Clean (She feels like it’s over)
I wish I could fit in Wonderland but I feel like it would only fit between “Slvt!” and All You Had To Do Was Stay and I wanted to keep All You Had To Do Was Stay as the track 5.
What about shake it off? And blank space? Etc
When you said "SΙυτ!" added another dimension to the lore of 1989,
My mind went "exactly" because,
If rest of 1989 is "clean", "SΙυτ!" is explicit
If rest of 1989 is seagulls, "SΙυτ!" is flamingo
If rest of 1989 is new york, "SΙυτ!" is L.A.
+ the NTWDT appreciation is all i wanted to see
So true ❤🙏
I think it makes sense for Style to be a track 5 in an album of turmoil like you said, there is something beautiful about the only strickly happy song being the emotional core. also great video as always!
thank you for watching!!

At first, I have to say that I was confused by 1989 (Taylor’s Version)‘s first listen but, after being familiar with it for the last two weeks, I gotta say that… I love it.
I think she honored it well, and many songs got HUGE improvements (This Love, Clean, I Know Places, Wonderland, AYHTDWS, Bad Blood and Woods).

i absolutely am convinced that wildest dreams is about alexander sarsgaard, or more specifically, it’s depicts a fantasy of being with him, and she had an on-set crush on him during the short time they filmed the giver (and had dinner with the cast and jammed together in the hotel with singalongs and then gushed about each other a little in interviews).
Also I completely agree that Bad Blood is a banger. Always loved it, always will.

@@theswiftologistI cry
What if the 'he' in 'was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse" Was Alex??? 🤯
I did a red reshuffle myself after the tv came out too and made me fall in love w the album in a way I never got to w the original. But here it is:
1- state of grace
2- holy ground (can’t believe she didn’t put these back to back)
3 - come back… be here
4 - red
5 - all too well (dealers choice on version
6 - treacherous
7 - I knew the you were trouble
8 - WANEGBT
9 - Better Man
10 - I bet you think about me
11 - The Last time
12 - The Lucky one

14 - Everything Has Changed
15 - Begin Again

video idea: randomize 2 tracks of a taylor album to be the book ends, then based on the 1st and last track of the randomly chosen tracks, create a coherent tracklist.

I’ve thought of a way to get Suburban legends, How you get the Girl, Bad blood, and Welcome to New York onto the track list
1. Suburban legends- coming off the tumultuous experience of The past era’s she decides to draw a line in the sand to become more business savvy
2. How you get the girl- more business savvy head and toe she decides to sit down and talk from a unknown perspective
3. New Romantics- the real intro into the main story of 1989
4. Blank space- in that in between the love story and the business savvy mode, she’s in on the joke
5. Slvt- the flip side to blank space and the first signs of falling in love
6. Style- same reasons you put it here
7. Out of the woods- same reason you put it here
8. Bad blood- she feels cornered by a certain pop girl which leads to the next track
9. I know places- the first hit in the relationship, after feeling targeted by someone who should be her ally and the media her thoughts get incredibly more anxious
10. Say don’t go- same reasons you put it here
11. Wonderland- same reasons you put it here
12.all you had to do was stay- same reason you put it here
13. Wildest dreams- say it with me now, same reason you put it here
15. I wish you would- same reasons you put it here
16. Now that we don’t talk- same reason it’s here on your list
17. Shake it off- shes trying to distract herself and start a new path in life (Could also work between say don’t go and wonderland)
18. Clean- that forced feeling of being ready to except the past and ready to move forward
19. Welcome to New York- she’s moved, she’s ready to experience what life has next, she’s inspired by the sound and the freedom of love, no longer held by the past she’s truly free
19. Is it over now?- The past (Harry) will never just be the past, he’s a muse. Also clever way to end an album given the title
- I don’t want to live forever isn’t on 1989’s track listing but I do think it works for the story she’s telling so I think it could go between say don’t go and wonderland, before shake it off if you prefer shake it off between those two as well
- I would make Sweeter than Fiction and the rest of the cut songs (From my version) into deluxe tracks cause I’d feel bad removing some of them from the discography
Always love the reshuffle, it’s so fun!
it's a tradition at this point
I love the way you say "yes I do" or "yes we do" or yes i am" just all the variants of those. It's so cute. 😊
The second ‘yeah!’ before the bridge in OOTW sounds so good! Something we didn’t know we needed

'All You Had To Do Was Stay' also got ranked SUPER high on my personal list just because so many elements of the original production were enhanced and magnified on TV and it is just so compelling to listen to. Almost has a completely different vibe
Love the video Zachary!!
thanks for watching!!!
At first, I thought that the songs like style tv and shake it off tv were definitely worse than the original. But after having the album for over a month now, the songs have been growing on me, and I know LOVE style tv.
watching this after the matty healy situation is wild
me personally, i hate how clean turned out, but that’s probably because i’m so used to the original version. it doesn’t hit the same as it did. i think it’s something about (forgive me, i know nothing about music terms) the echoes missing, and also the back vocals sounding waaaaaay different. anyway, thanks for making this! i love hearing your thoughts on the re-recordings! 💙
edit: i just listened to both versions, and i noticed how the re-recorded sounds like her voice is behind something and it sounds like she’s pretty uninterested. idk i just noticed that now!
yes thank you zach u actually know what ur talking abt and yet serving us content so fasttt???? thank u for speaking the truth
love your new track listing! but would switch out of the woods & I know places because OOTW is more reflective ‘looking at it now… I remember thinking…’ whereas IKP is more present tense ‘in the dead of night, your eyes so green and I know for you, it's always me’. feels like chronologically IKP came first xx
I’m able to get to 1989 with the link but it’s not listed on your profile and the Haylor one is not there 😢
1989 should be there now :) the haylor one is being saved for an upcoming video
@@theswiftologist our hero! 🥰💕
What a well-thought out and great video! Thank you Zach
thank you for watching!!
Thanks for the video ❤️❤️❤️
she can make note for note remakes, they just can't include any of the original recordings
So So Happy You Talked About Style TV And I Agree 100% Even Though It's My Fav Song Ever
Again i love your playlist / story. And your cuts! Great Great Great!!! ty 💖
i can hear that high pitched white noise ALL over ayhtdws and i hate hate hate
Love your track list order. Tells the story much better. It is odd that Taylor doesn't pay closer attention to the track list arrangement on albums
Love these videos!!! I never much cared for wonderland but I can’t stop listening to the tv version, it’s like crack to me
16:53 FR! I got so angry when I heard the ‘ahh ahh ahh ahh’ it sounds like children, then the original sounds perfect!
sadly i agree!
I have the most unpopular opinion bc I love Style TV haha The guitar added is such a jam to dance to,
I love the fact that I have this new version as well as the old one! its just refreshing and new
Saaaaaame
It grew on me so much tbh
So excited❤❤
I didn’t get it on the first couple listens, but then it quickly became my favorite vault. Obsessed
MY EXACT THOUGHTS
Im just going to be on the edge of my seat till 3😢
Lololol oh man… it’s lonely being the only swiftie who loves Style TV 😂
today is a really monumental day for us swiftologist viewers who have been long-time i know places stans
@@theswiftologist hahah of course, then I’ll definitely check out your Spotify
I'm so glad you liked I know places 😂 I was rooting for it
my tracklisting
1. welcome to new york - goes to ny
2. new romantics - they meet
3. blank space - he finds out about the rumours ab her
4. style - he doesnt care ab the rumours and they get together
5. ikp - they have to leave
6. wildest dreams - they drive out of the city
7. slvt - california
8. ootw - they start to have problems
9. ntwdt - they stoped talking
10. iwyw - they get back tg
11. wonderland - they start to have more problems
12. ayhtdws - he leaves and wants her back
13. say dont go - the break down
14. iion? - wants everything to be over
15. this love - reflecting on the relationship
16. suburban ledgends - realises whats wrong
17. shake it off - starts to get over what happens
18. clean - feels its finally over
I think the key to Haylor is that it didn’t end definitively.
YESS been waiting for this
That beginning SENT me 😅 ilysm
love ur videos! i love the way you dont feed into the stupid stuff the new swifties say and have opinions of ur own, your like my fav youtuber!
the wildest dreams thing is interesting!
Zach please tell us what you think about the whole drama last night in Night 2 of Buenos Aires 😍👏🏻😄 we are here for unhinged messy Taylor !
Watching the entire concert being live streamed from Buenos Aires last night, and then seeing the video of TK after the concert standing waiting for her and then him seeing her and them embracing… it was so incredibly fun & romantic! 🥰💘
@@penguinwithwifi so true! It was the treat we didn’t know we needed! 😍😍😍
I'm happy my feelings for the Style TV were vindicated.
you are so correct about Now That We Don’t Talk. still can’t believe it exists
