NO ONE should ever spend $600 on a knife. yet------I did, and like you, I'm not sorry. I got mine a couple of years ago, and to be honest, I asked myself what was wrong with me. I have 63 knives, 5 of them are over $300 and 38 of them are under $100. my large sebenza 31 is the most expensive one. in my mind, as it should be. the longer I own it and the more I use it, the more I've come to the conclusion that it's the best made knife I own. and that's saying a lot cause I love all my knives
Sebenza 31 Drop Point S45VN, no regrets at all. The knife is beautifully made, action is glassy smooth, and the sounds are like nothing else. I have other knives and I don't always carry my Sebenza, but when I do it absolutely holds it's own. I love wood scales and this knife will never leave my collection. I know some don't like the thumb studs but they never bothered me. It's not for everyone, but it works for me.
The Chris Reeve Sebenza is “expensive “ but you did not point out a single flaw in the knife that proves it’s over priced. It is a quality knife that is produced in the United States. It cost more to manufacture knives in the USA. Koenig, Shirogorov, and Chris Reeve Knives are pricey knives. Chris Reeve Knives set a quality knife standard and they are worth the price in my option.
I had one like 10 years ago and sold it within 3 months. It's just meh for the price imo. Being primarily a balisong collector, I'm used to overpaying for knives too.
Benchmades knives are expensive for what you get! The Benchmade Narrows cost 500 $. The G and G Hawk Deadlock is 3,000.00$ It’s an out the front with no blade play so they over charge for the knife. Shirogorov seriously over charges for their knives. Compared to other production knife companies CRK’s is more than reasonable
First off, I love your fade dye jobs on some of your comparison knives. This knife is one of my three grail knives that I probably will never buy. It's the design language that appeals to me, clean lines and great materials are what I look for. Thank you for sharing!
My experience with reprofiling A CRK magnacut was that it was very hard to do. In part maybe HRC but also because the hollow grind was not very deep. The BTE thickness made the reprofiling tougher.
I personally own a few grails. Would I carry any of them? Absolutely not. Do I regret buying them? Nah. If it's something you feel important to you, it's not a waste. You do you.
My grail and most expensive knife is the spydiechef and will probably remain my most expensive knife. 400 something bucks canadian. (Loved it so much I bought 2.)
I saw these when they were in stock on dlt and almost snagged one! Love the gold. I've always been a CR "hater" because of their prices, but the sebenza has been calling my name recently... Nice to hear your thoughts on them.
Very much enjoyed your film. I’ve had several Sebenza’s pass through my hands over the years and I too think the ‘Plane Janes’ are great.....but why the bump.? On the blade tang when you close the knife.....why the little bump out of line with the Ti scales? Surely you only need to adjust the scales by millimetres to hide that & sort this minor aesthetic out.? What am I missing? (They know loads about knife making and I know nothing but it’s just fugly in my opinion on an otherwise precision tool)...Yeah and also the thumb studs.... the best in the business are in my opinion the old ‘hour glass types’ found on Al Mar knives...they do need to move on or maybe look back to what works and what don’t. Be interested to hear your opinion.
@@stevemorris1323 this knife is stuck in the past but unfortunately the company is not for innovation. @@Barney_Greenway yeah I used to have one Bought it from waynessharpworld and the sold it to WorkKnifeBallance. It just isn’t for me but excellent finish and execution overall
@@Barney_Greenway the stud design and pivot smoothness was elite 🔥 realistically I just wish some edges were a little more rounded off and that the blade was thinned out or just hollow ground. But what I want it to be is not what it was intended to be ya know.
I will say this from experience. Unless you really want to open up your world. Never go to a blade show lol. There are SO many other knives that blow a Sebenza out of the water. And also cost much more. At one point I never thought I'd spend more than $250 on a knife. Now $500-600 is about middle ground lol.
@@justthetipedc7835 what I do is pick a knife I really want. And set aside money every paycheck til I reach that amount. Sometimes it takes like 2-3 months. Sometimes longer depending on the knife. I set aside money for a year and a half for a Rockstead. Some responsible financial advice 😁
The thumb stud looks very uncomfortable to deploy. Should have the lock bar insert, titanium handle need texture. Access to the lock bar not that great. Maybe a grail to someone but not everyone.
Why would it need a lockbar insert... it has a ceramic ball bearing that the knife sits on. The blade never sits on the titanium itself. The ceramic ball is a higher hrc than the blade, so there's no chance to wear the titanium, which is why a lockbar insert is used..
