Wonderful rendition of Highland Cathedral. One of the very best I've ever heard ... and after 47 years in pipe bands ... I've heard it more than a few times. If you ever invite bands from off-shore, consider asking the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pipes and Drums. A band for this show would be drawn from our 7 bands from across Canada and would also have our Highland Dancers. It's an entertaining show that would fit right in. Just a thought. :-)
Think the (pretty darn good) march at 18:45 is called "On Parade". It is not played too often but did appear at the amazing 1975 Military Musical Pageant held at Wembley...
The Artane band were a brilliant part of this show. Everyone really enjoyed them as i did I. Really fantastic performance by them as I hold them in high regard as great young musicians. There's no religion in music mostly unless those who who think so 👏😄🎶 the director was trying his best to put a show on regardless of religion. He did it well. Well done to everyone 👏
@@BOBBYDAZZLER1968 There CAN be religion in music, by association; but there can also be the Holy Spirit's inspiration and love and mercy carried in and through music, and that also means truth and connectivity, and that - like the Spirit itself - is, can be and must be beyond criticism. It is through the forgiveness and reconciliation of the Paraclete that swords become ploughshares and TRUE peace is possible. There is NOTHING more perfect, more pleasing, more divine in this universe than reconciliation - meaning love where once there was none. Irish-ish guy once said: we do not do it because it is easy; we do it because it is hard ... and God loves us for it all the more.
@@BOBBYDAZZLER1968 Not so much religion as such the Artane Band are strongly linked to the GAA as they lead out teams playing in all irelands a very irish nationalist occasion where as this is a very british one.Nothing wrong it but it is ironic which is what i meant by weird when i made that comment a year ago
To my mind, it's more hard-core/brass-tacks/down-to-earth than Edinburgh, just belting out a good march for the muster without too many extra frills. I've seen hundreds of these performances, but I actually got a new kind of thrill/chill out of this. Being stuck in the pandemic maybe helps with that, but that's not the only reason, I think. It's direct and touching (and I think there's a bit of the soul of Belfast in that, BTW). There was sadness abounding, but some day they're were going to pull the old town down. So we could return here, when the Belfast Child sings again. It's singing here, is it not?
