      Noted on the spec list. Can update. For benchmarks as well, I'll just go to full screen so it's easier to view. But trying to keep people engaged while benchmarks are up. I'll give it a think. Thanks!

      If you shorted the overall width of the bars on the benchmark chart, you can make them thicker, allowing for a larger font on the numbers.

    Another thing these handhelds really need asap, is some on die V-RAM, even a very modest small amount would make a night & day difference, Intel proofed this with their Iris Pro iGPU's, with just 128mb of native eDRAM, they doubled the FPS, if AMD added say just 1GB of fast HBM2 V-RAM to the APU, we should see minimum 50% FPS increase thanks to opening up the memory bandwidth, even a small eDRAM cache would do the trick, I know there is a handheld gaming PC win the works with a dedicated discreet GPU, which will have actual V-RAM of course, that factor alone will be a huge upgrade, not even counting the GPU specs improvement, I hope they use a 120hz 800p display with it, preferably AMOLED, I'd love to see a handheld with Nvidia's ULMB 2 on a 120hz+ AMOLED display, this would make it a power house for retro games, being able to play them how they were meant to be played with perfect CRT grade motion clarity and a scanline filter.

    • @johnm91326
      @johnm91326 Рік тому +1

      This is limited by tdp. Improving memory bandwidth probably wouldn't do anything.
      Iris pro had 2x the EUs compared with the regular graphics too.

    • @Wobble2007
      @Wobble2007 Рік тому

      @@johnm91326There are identical SoC packages with a single difference, the iGPU lacks the eDRAM, as I said the FPS in doubled or more in some cases, TDP is not effected, the RAM modules have miniscule amounts of power draw, even desktop DDR4 fast 16GB modules use a 3watts tops, a 1GB eDRAM package would draw no more than 150mw, and for that tiny power draw max average FPS would climb 50% minimum (up to 150% in some cases), add to that much improved minimum FPS, much improved frame-times and lower input latency, it's just so much improvement for so little, see how well the one-off chip, the Intel/Vega-GPU SoC with on board HBM2 V-RAM performed, in huge part thanks to a much fatter memory pipeline, this is the best way forward for massively upgrading performance for pretty much no battery life penalty, AMD only needs to add 1GB of either eDRAM or HBM2 V-RAM to their upcoming Z2 SoC, I'd like to see a full V-RAM package eventually, but you what these tech companies are like, they like to drip feed us with improvements for maximum profits, so before we get 6GB+ LPGDDR6 V-RAM, a more modest eDRAM or HBM2 cache will do, and that will suffice to give us a 50% minimum upgrade along with all the other gaming benefits direct on-die RAM packages bring.

    Thanks for another informative and deep review, Phawx. I have to say, the 7840u does not fare at all well on these low battery, low wattage devices. IMO a chip with less cores and CUs would've gained better performance at lower watts due to higher clocks (Like Steam Deck) and been cheaper. The 7840u shines at 15-20W. I have the AokZoe and I can't imagine using this chip on a smaller battery, or a smaller screen. It really is AAA-competent chipset and at low wattages, all its potential is just wasted. IMO a 5'5 screen is also just too small for modern HD games. I feel like this device is perfect for games that don't need the 7840u. In that sense, it's an odd construction. If drivers come that boost low watt performance, sure. But I doubt it will.

It looks like having the right analog stick reach below towards your palm makes holding the device uncomfortable especially with games that keeps your fingers on the triggers. It reminds me of the Gamesir X2 Pro controller for android phones. The grips need extensions of some sort. Especially if people plan to play on Gamepass besides focusing on the retro classics / EMUs.

      So, I prefer the xbox layout myself. As such I have a bias towards how it's presented and operates. @Wobble2007 Рік тому

    If only this was 120hz (or 144hz) AMOLED with BFI, it would be a really nice option, but 60hz has just far too low of a motion resolution, about 200 TVL at the most, so under 20% of the advertised resolution @ anything over 10 FPS, only static images will be the full advertised 1080p .

    • @devinrobertson5251
      @devinrobertson5251 9 місяців тому +1

      You're crazy. 60fps is absolutely perfect. Anything more will destroy the battery and is absolutely unnecessary in portable gaming, and often times in full on gaming as well.
