I’ve been trying this like crazy! Love it! Would you advise having your shoulders closed, open, or square at impact with all clubs? I notice my left shoulder tends to be square at impact but rises up as I turn through hard.
Wow! I am a hit down guy who has struggled with finding a less steep approach with wedges, irons and hybrids. After I watched this video I consciously lifted the handle a bit as my hands passed the ball. Wow! Best impact ever with zero ground pounding. Even made my finish smoother and more natural. Striking the match at last! Many thanks.
the feel I look for coming into the ball is the "carrier landing" with right wrist angle creating forward shaft lean--self explanatory ! same feel I used to have with right side bend hitting a hard slapper skating at right wing.
Really good video. In the slo-mo, I saw Milo's right hand release its extension at or immediately before impact, which surprised me (I thought it was released post impact). Anyway my problem (at 77 years old) is that I have too much weight on the back foot at impact (lousy pivot) which causes my low point to be too far to the rear - causing me to hit thin most of the time. I've tried to fix it for 3 years with every drill known to golf and cannot.
Milo, This is amazing and thanks for describing the short iron ball strike not being a descending type blow. Is this the same feeling you have for all clubs? I feel my best ball compression is when the swing low point meets the ball and begins to fire up and through the ball with little to no divot, similar to what happens with the driver when the club is traveling more of an upward, shallower sweeping type hit. Only difference being stance width and ball position varies depending on what club I am hitting.
Hi love you guys. Just a question. I was under the impression that to compress a golf ball is to hit ball then turf to trap it. Always thought that taking a divot in front of the ball is a good thing to do and proves a good angle of attack?
We aren't saying there wouldn't be a divot in front of the ball...we certainly do, it's more so about shallowing the bottom of the arc, so the down isn't so violent.
I had an instructor 30 years ago (he was way ahead of the bell curve) . Start me off at impact squatted , hands ahead , lead shoulder opening . And than had me hit the ball with the club one inch behind the ball. I had no choice but to replicate that feel after doing that drill for 10 mins in a full swing. Was flushing it. Those 20-30 yard shots never felt so good
Hey guys, ive noticed that on my backswing its my left hip turns towards the ball rather than right hip back - you got any drills to practice the correct move?
A few good ones on my website (online academy), chair or exercise ball behind work well. Here's a video from a while back that could help: ua-cam.com/video/2jkoW5oJDgQ/v-deo.html
I believe I have a couple of those already on here, plus cover that more in detail on my website, milolinesgolf.com. ua-cam.com/video/9HMSHacEV-4/v-deo.html
The one point that seems to have been forgotten (or at least not mentioned) is that the axis of rotation for the entire swing has to be shifted towards the target before any of this can transpire. You can't hit down 3-5 degrees with a short iron if you haven't moved your center of rotation well left (target side)
A little lateral movement is necessary but how much varies. One can also move the low point forward by lowering your center and releasing angles later in the arc.
Hello together, i am a 52 year old Golfer from Germany. I start with Golf about 10 years ago, but then i broke my Back and stop playing. The Problem now are 2: 1. I learn the "old" Swing, means do not move your lower Body, not your Hips, not your Head... 2. i am still struggeling a bit with my Back. What i am now mostly struggeling is to complete the Swing an come into a nice Finish. That """ stopping """ at the Ball cause many Problems, one most important is a Clubhead Speed with my Driver of only 88, max 90 mph 😞 No i want to kindly ask if you have any Advice for me ? Thanks Matthias
It is a way- but the handle is up and has to catch up at last minute. This is a good method but I set up at the top for impact. He does the opposite. Interesting
Here is Tiger trying to explain why he doesn’t take divots when he is flushing it. I assume it is because he is skilled enough to get the low point in front of the ball without hitting down. ua-cam.com/users/shortsoWZM5P08mvs?feature=share
@@MiloLinesGolf I assume Tiger has the skill level never to take a divot when he is flushing it. However, under what turf conditions do you think he would prefer to take a divot.
There are countless videos of him taking divots over the years, I'm just saying softer or grainer ground conditions will often times bring about a divot.

The truth revealed! Everyone has been told to hit down....but does it the wrong way.....one of the best video on impact! Thanks so much!
Thanks Kenneth, glad you enjoyed it!

I have been waiting a LONG time for this concise explanation .. THANK YOU for the precise detail.
You bet, thanks for the watch!

Great to hear Joe!
Excellent. Such a good demonstration of delivery and explanation of strike. You and Henry team so well.
Thank you!
Landing left FTW! Awesome explanation guys! 🏄♂️

Don't want that crash, good point Tom!

Thanks for watching! Have I seen your swing? That's a very common pattern we see. Maybe I could help online or in person. milolinesgolf.com

Great stuff so do you have that feeling your just sweeping it I understand how you’re getting the downward aoa but I just talking feel

The handle part coming up and around seems a key element to repeatedly finding the bottom of the arc
Here's another video that goes well with this: ua-cam.com/video/2UG7_n2tHmE/v-deo.html
Another great video.
Thank you Jason!
Really helpful explanation

Milo, would you consider making a video about how to hit iron shots with a high trajectory?

Hi Matthias, I’d really need to see your swing to give you the best feedback. Have you looked into joining my online academy? Milolinesgolf.com
Hello, thanks for the Answer.
No not now...will have a look...
Matthias
What if you have limited right wrist extension due to fused wrist joint?
@@dennissmith1904 well then you do what you can.
Milo didn't Johnny Miller and Tom Watson describe it as brush the carpet (aka) brush the grass?
I've heard Jack Nicklaus also practiced off a short tee quite often with his irons and wedges.
I take an shallow Divot ,leaving the Roots of the Grass intact.
Can work for sure, often times depends on the shot and ground/grass conditions.

Like Moe Norman?
Ferris Wheel VS Merry-Go-Round
In some respects, although a ferris wheel can still be rather wide or shallow at bottom.
Destroying misconception one video at a time!
Thanks for watching Stephen!

When I'm hitting the best i don't feel I'm hitting down on the ball at all (even though i know i am) Very shallow divots or none. 🏌️⛳
Sounds like what Tiger said recently. Thanks for watching Tony!
