- It's finally here, the long awaited moment for the T-135 siren sounding in HD at 70 FT
Also, this siren happens to have lost voltage as it is on backup generators in this test((208 Volt)) - Наука та технологія
The long wind up is why this is one of my most favorited sirens. Just how the wind up sounds is just beautiful
slower wind up than usual, sounds badass
As the old giant attacks a village... Well, similes for this P-50...
Good god, I bet the wires in that conduit were seriously buzzing when that baby was firing up, it's running on a 208V service pulling approximately 920 amps during that startup. Excellent capture, not often you see one with that slow of a windup!
I think that the sound was the actual motor rotating it... great video by the way!
i think so too
I ♥ that long wind up!
I think I can hear the back up generator right before wind down.
gotta love that long windup
God I love these P-50s
OMG 70 feet away with no earplugs? Especialy a T-135 being 135 DB that must have KILLED your ears,
Totally fine
Holy crap!
+Bait28 WHAT?!!
Oh, I just guessed that you were the one who recorded it. What I ment by that was most people put the location in the discription. I just had to know where this awesome sounding thing was.
@bait28 the ad had a pic of a guy standing in the p50. this is my favorite siren along with its little brother the cyclone. That lower pitch wine your hearing is probably the metal on the siren vibrating .
I love the slow windup!!
Lol I love how dramatic the intro sounds
Fucking legendary....
Great sound
Nice P-50! really long wind up!
My town has done just that with a few of the 2001s they installed to replace the old CD network with back in the early 90s.
@MegaPrincessmeg When the P50 was made it could be set to run on three voltages. Tri-phase 240, 277, or 450/480. this particular siren was installed on Tri-phase 277. If it had the full 480 it would wind up alot quicker.
@acahurricane1275 doesn't need batteries cause the city runs backup generators to drive these.
This is not from the tempest line. Idk if it actually could have got that rusted in a year or not, but the bracket mount is from an ACA siren. The Tempest line has a totally different mount.
oh ok!
@TheFiremansavage it was flooded with snow for 60 days and was tested with the snow still in it.
I cried for the windup.
@TheWeatherGuys well thanks for confirming. The EMA still calls it a Tempest 135
Are you sure this siren in the video was installed during the Tempest line? Not meaning to be picky but just looking at the rust on the siren head, it seems to me that this siren was installed before the Tempest line came out.
is it mechanical or solid-state?
Edit: just learned it's just a uni-directional aca cyclone!
1:10 it is a Penatrator 50 you can tell because of the ACA logo on the rotator and the CD logo
By the time it finishes winding up, the tornado will have already hit.
These look so much better than those awful new T-135AC/DC ones that have the ugly waffle-cone horn
Guys, can't you see the CD emblem on the side? It's a P-50!
@bait28 Ive actually switched wiring on a P50 before and it used 991.27 amps on startup. but it was a Baldor motor and not a Doerr like the one in this video... Anyways, Great video.
You are wrong, It's now the T135AC/DC. He also asked about the P50.
@BRIGGSandSTRATTONguy yes, they really are just the same thing minus the mount.
Therefore the actual T-135 HAS been discontinued for a new one. Case closed.
So how bad were your ears bleeding afterwards? Enough that your shirt was now red, or just a little trickle? ;)
Actually, at 70 feet, you might have actually been outside the central sound cone's coverage angle...
Any word on the secondary whine? (My guess is that it's probably something to do with the rotator--I forget if the P-50 used a reduction gear off the chopper motor to run the rotator, but if so, straight-cut gear whine could easily explain it.)
@BRIGGSandSTRATTONguy True, but remember the electrics are completely different.
the chopper i think is 3feet in diameter and the horn is like 7feet in diameter
@P50fan1 to correct you, the sticker actually says ACA.
you can see the faded civil defense logos
wrong ASC (A.K.A) ACA changed it and it looks like the T-128 now. Basically it is the 2 generation now.
how the hell does that pole hold the thing up it must weigh a thousand tons
that's what im trying to say they changed it it is now the T-135 they changed the name then changed the design.
Is the P-50 discontinued? Hope not!
I bet you already know this, but they have LONG since been discontinued.
I have a recording of this siren as well... the time i filmed it, wasnt on generators and it was very sluggish like this video..
@bait28 so if towns dont want to spend $30,000 dollers or more for a new batterybackup siren they can just add generators to power them if the power goes out ?
@bait28 you mean those yellow cat generators . and how big are these , i know there huge but how big?
Yes. Couple corps still carry them.
Slowest windup
yes that is correct.
@acahurricane1275 well we use massive CAT gensets, enough to drive my whole school, so it takes 2 to drive these sirens.
What do you mean Somethings missing, and i didn't record it, so i wouldn't know, i believe it Aurora IL.
the startup is slow. i've seen some where they fire right up..
@TheFiremansavage idk, cause it's also was installed in 2007
the siren is also called a p-50
408 volts? You can't run a motor wired for 480 on 408 volts, the voltage drop will fry it.
Sure it's not 208 volts?
might sound sick why slow winup
Ears hurt. also it has a seperate rotation motor
How loud was it?
Paul Spomer 135db at 100 feet (fucking loud)
@P50fan1 hell, maybe it is CD, but it never was yellow
how many amps does a p-50 take, i'm sure it takes ALOT, lol
Not as loud as I thought it would be, but still very loud. CMON P 50 YOU CAN DO BETTER!
I call these the p-50s and I call the other one the t-135.... So I don't get confused
This s an ACA p50 not a tempest 135. no they are not the same.
@TheSirenSpot thanks
Where is this siren at?
@lilaj34siren It's straight up. If it were a little crooked, on the other hand...
@bait28 iknow these arenot battery powered but they can cover at least 6 to 7 ati high poweredshitty sirens anyday
@Siren1000T1 it got rusted after the blizzard this year
why is the tempest 135 a look alike of the AcA P-50
THEY ARE THE SAME JUST REBRANDED
@P50fan1 yes, cd, you can see the triangle
Something's missing. Where is this siren located?
@acahurricane1275 they are around the size of a train.
@acedrummer2590 well it's been long awaited for this video
@Blue10AEMia lol. i meant to type 208 but the drop is like 190 on backups.
@doverpoint1 Failens? D:
Where was this?
nashville needs to get rid of there ati walmart sirens for these
@Saikano2012 May'n - Welcome to my Fanclubs night(Sheryl on stage)
It's a tempest 135 AC
The wind up is slow because the siren is old
No, it is because the mother has to take time to get up to speed
@bait28 cool to bad my town doesnt have these, we have 11 2001 sirens on the system . id give the 2001 more respect if they were lower toned and wasnt so poorly made.
@bait28 i bet if u put a 2001 by the p50 it, the 2001 would freak out and blow up. lol
@Nelso90 Dude, i could give a Flying Fu*k at this point. The Tempest 135 and P-50 were the same thing. No that ACA is ASC, i'm going by it's new name.
In every siren the power box there is a switch that can be hard to find cause the color of the siren maybe?
Avasepticeye 12344 what?
I was wrong on the first one but it has a slow wind up for no reason but I'm not like its broken but it did sound healthy tho.
But sometimes I don't make sense on my comments…
Avasepticeye 12344 ok...? The long windup is massive vdroop
Bait28 keep making videos you are awesome ! Just keep on making siren videos
i can see the american signal logo. asc t-135
@murrfarms Thanks
@MegaPrincessmeg don't know...
wow! such a slow windup
My camera has an Active Compressor.
It's a ACA p-50
again, don't care at this point
We have whelens :(
The trashcan siren.
aca p50 renamed to asc tempest 135
@TspesVladD ya i know right.
sounds like a leafblower
@BRIGGSandSTRATTONguy you replied to yourself... lol
@acahurricane1275 3 feet chopper, 8 feet horn. :D
how loud was that bait28
Madison Hargis definition of ear bleeding, and I run PA systems
Woah!!!!!!!!!!!
Bait28 I can handle it
@piper102206 maybe
