The camera gear used for this video:
Gopro Hero 7 Black - amzn.to/2WaKYsZ
Tools Needed:
Heat Gun - amzn.to/31v2cnf
Bug, Sap and Tar remover - amzn.to/31z0lxP
30lb fishing line - amzn.to/2KtWaOj
Micro fiber cloth - amzn.to/31wxSsw
FYI for anyone else, you don't even need the fishing line. I got it hot, used my finger to just get the end to pull outward and it came off. You might need to use a sharp edge like a pocket knife to get under the edge, but the tip of my finger worked just fine. The remaining glue just peeled off and rolled up into a ball of goo, did reheat it a bit, but again, just rolled it off and left nothing but a pretty fork. Thanks for posting this video, nice job, well needed information.
Thanks for the tip....the reflectors came off nicely with the hair dryer. Saved myself the money and a trip in this miserable traffic. Ima go ride my bicycle now......
Excellant man! Good spirit and thanks for the comment👍
Why is no one talking about the porn music in the background 🤣
Thanks for the tip BTW, worked great 👍
Excellent info. Thanks.
Good Video , I am going to do the B.O. I am working on next. Thanks for posting .
Damn.... thanks. I've wanted to get rid of those reflectors for some time.
I used a hair dryer... worked fine. No need to go out and get a heat gun if you are only going to use it once
Nice. Well I did say it would work with a blow dryer just a little slower. Great to hear that it worked out for you. Use what you have. Just spend more time heating with the blow dryer👍
Yeah I didn’t enjoy the snarky bicycle comment. That’s actually about as far as I watched.
Sweet
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 571.108 requires lamps and reflective devices on motor vehicles which means motorcycles as well for safety reasons. States may have their own laws or regulations regarding this topic as well especially in states that require vehicle safety inspections. I plan on replacing mine with a custom dynamics light with turn signal that attaches to the front forks.
Weak
I’m sure you’re fun at parties.
@@JustADude1900ishLOL
The federal law requires them to be fitted by the manufacturer to be sold. You do not have to keep them.
Wow, the fishing line is a fantastic idea. Well done sir.
I took mine off the same way. The idiots on here criticizing forgot that THEY CLICKED ON THE VIDEO. If people gona criticize then why watch the video. Good job bud. I got a 21 Street Glide Special. Did this the day I got it. And btw if u ever get a stopped..just screen shot or take a pic of a bike like urs and show it when the time comes as proof that u put it back on. lol 😆
Any issues with or damage to the paint? I've got a 20 Breakout and want to remove mine as well
I had 0 scratches or any issue at all. I’m super picky. If you do it exactly like I did in the vid and have all the supplies I used it should come out perfect.
@@f48films33
Good deal. Thank you. I'm going to do mine this weekend
@@f48films33
I did mine today after getting home from work. Took about 10 minutes per side, total. Thanks for the info. It looks cleaner now.
Dental floss works as good as fishing line and cheaper!
I would honestly just put white reflectors or grey on to keep the aesthetic but not die.
Put a reflective jacket on and load a ton of reflective tape on your helmet. Two fork reflectors are not going to save you from a person not paying attention.
If you want reflectors buy a bicycle .. or roller blades
Lol!!! Just take a plastic puddy knife and they pop right off, if there’s any adhesive left it rolls right off just using your fingers...done that’s it, takes five minutes!
Hair dryer and dental floss...
"Maybe you should he riding a bicycle" most people cant afford fully dressed bikes like yours either.
I don’t like bicycles. Nothing personal. No motor waste of my time. I leave that to people that like to pedal. I prefer to twist the throttle. Thanks for taking the time and dropping a comment. Plenty of Harleys waiting for a new owner. There are deals out there. Go get one.
Guys are putting those reflectors back on their shovels😅😅😅😅😅 don't throw em out
It’s a front fork not a baby butt. It’s gonna get hit with rocks and gravel unless it just sits in your garage 😢
Bicycle comment 😂😂
Goof off would work better to get the glue off
I would not use it. It messes up the gloss black.
Bye-bye reflectors, hello side impact at night, goodbye insurance coverage (once they see no reflectors).
If that’s the case your getting mowed down either way. A tiny reflector isn’t going to stop that.
@@slowsporty5972 Look at it at night off of a headlights beam, it's almost as bright as your brake light (only orange of course).
If you’re that scared you may want to try Uber
Do you know what else is really bright at night, the huge LED day maker light on the front of the bike ...if they don't see that pointing out into the road, a reflector isn't going to save you lololol
@@maddawg4599 Not scared, just smart. That's how I got away with riding 53 years without an accident.
Why do you think Harley and all other motorcycle manufactures put Amber reflectors on the front and red on the rear??? It's a federal law!! If you're backed into a parking space, it might keep your bike from being hit. And if it is hit, your insurance won't pay off because you modified it.
As far as I know it’s only required to have one reflector on the bike. Most custom bikes are not riddled with reflectors. Just saying. One or two headlights, turn signals, tail lamp and one reflector is all that’s required as far as I see in the states.
I agree. They ( the insurance company) wants pictures of an accident or claim they will notice it and reject your claim. I mean if you're dead then who cares. Lmao
Can you please Troll somewhere else ,if you don’t have anything constructive to add , you probably will wear 3 masks for the rest of your life also.
Yea and on the way out to your Bike you might slip on a Banana peel and break your neck also . Unless you put your Helmet on before leaving the house ,and in that case you might just as well wear a Helmet every time you leave the house . Be Safe .
Big brother will let you know how to dress your Bike and yourself ! Screw personal freedom .
Federal law requires them to be sold with them, you don't have to keep them.
FYI...illegal to remove, they are even on cars. but your lil harley egos say remove.
Last I checked driving 26 mph in a 25 mph zone is illegal as well. I’m sure you never do that. You keep those reflectors on officer Doofy
@@f48films33 i have been riding a bike since i was 6, i am 73 years old. not one ticket my whole life. blew that theory. no soup for you.
I just used a plastic paint stir knife and a little polish remover Florida is a heat gun
@@wickid3616 No soup for you. 🤣
“Harley egos”.... assholes are useful, however most stink.
